I'm not a huge reviewer type person, but the customer service my daughter and I received yesterday was phenomenal! I brought her out to Hollywood for a Mommy/Daughter date and this store was one of our highlights. She loves leather bracelets and we peeked through the windows and saw some of the coolest items! The shop was closed, but the leatherworker saw us and came and opened the doors. He was very kind and patient with my indecisive teenager. He went above and beyond snapping each bracelet on her wrist while I had fun looking at the custom made hybrid hi-tops, hats, and jackets. She finally chose a bracelet; he was kind and and let her keep another she had her eye on that didn't fit. So, he even resized it for her!!! He saw me watching in awe at him using his tools and invited us over to watch. He asked her if she wanted to studs flattened and then hammered them down. "Now wanna see something cooler?" "YES!" Then he poked holes into the top of each stud. He seriously made our freaking day!!! You can buy cookie cutter cheap leather bracelets anywhere, we even saw some 2 shops down. But, LA Riga has high-quality real leather goods for reasonable prices. However, it was the epic interaction we had with the leatherworker that will keep us coming back. So worth the drive! It's a family owned father and son leather Studio where they craft hand made leather boots, skirts, pants, jackets, belts, chokers, bracelets and HATS - which is what I came in there to see. Got an awesome hand made, one of a kind hat. Be prepared to pay a little extra for quality. I wasn't gonna buy the hat, at first it seemed like a perfect opportunity to save money rather than spend it, but once I put it on I just couldn't take it off. I felt like this hat was mine and I had to have it. Keep in mind that every hat (and every item for that matter) in this shop is one of a kind. There are no two items that are alike. I found the one hat that was just calling to me and now I wear it religiously. Can't/don't want to take it off - something like that is worth every penny and more. I feel like I bought an extension of me and my style, rather than an item of clothing. Final point might be interesting to someone: what a great service you get here. I didn't meet the father - only met the son, but the interaction was unique, just like the product. A few weeks later, I brought the jacket in to La-Riga, and asked if they'd be willing to do the restore job. The shop owner quoted me a reasonable price, and said they'd have it done in two days. When I returned, I was delighted with the creative patchwork that had been done to repair the lining and the cuffs and bring the jacket back to life. SHOP OWNER: Rude I purchased a studded leather cuff with snaps, leather of course, with big hollow 4-corner type studs a while ago, about 2 weeks ago and the young kid that was there was friendly at the time and I picked it up for a decent price. Today, I go in to see if any other custom designs of theirs had been created...and it was exactly the same as before. I asked if I could design something and have them make it for me and the older man there looked at me as if I had 3 eyes. He was completely shocked that I would even ask him for such a thing. My husband's high-quality leather belt that we loved and wore for the past few decades was falling apart, and we were in search of a new belt of the highest quality leather. Went everywhere - and no one, even the most expensive stores, had a belt that he wanted. We gave up...but La Riga store on Melrose Ave caught our attention, and we decided to stop by just to check it out, no expectation of any kind. We found that the store is owned by a craftsman, Sevada, who had the craft passed down to him from his father who was also a leather craftsman. Sevada has the leather making shop right in the store and you can watch him create amazing items on the spot. We were able to pick the belt we wanted, plus choose a beautiful custom buckle out of the two boxes filled with amazing belt buckles that are rare and no longer mass-produced. We got the belt basically custom-built to last, made with the best quality materials. We also bought a few stunning bracelets - hand made, beautiful leather, and created and crafted with love. Visiting this store was a highlight of our experience on our anniversary trip to LA. Highly recommend this place, and I will be back for all of our custom leather needs - jackets, belts, gloves, bracelets, and other things that are unique and can not be bought anywhere else. They basically could ANYTHING with leather, they could customize any piece or design of interest, which I find it perfect! The quality of the leather is super good and their designs are very appealing too. I know where to shop for belts and boots that I like and I was looking for leather bracelets here but honestly didn't find interesting ones "as it's just the case with ALL the other leather bracelets I've seen here in the US, they're too big for my wrist and the quality and design of the leather itself isn't the greatest", BUT, I was taken by their jackets and hats!!!!
