I pass by Vamp almost every time I walk my dog, so it was only a matter of time before I stepped inside. I was wearing more or less pajamas when I finally did, with my well-loved Rainbows on my feet. My brother's dog chewed one of these up about a year ago and I never got a new pair. I still wear my Rainbows almost every day, but I decided I needed an alternate pair of sandals, in case I wanted to look presentable with the warmer months coming. I got fixated on Ancient Greek Sandals for some reason, even though they're outrageously expensive and pretty simple in design. I ogled them on the internet for months, but didn't want to pull the trigger without trying them on. At some point I noticed a few pairs in Vamp's window display, during one of my countless ambles past its storefront. Vamp is a very attractive store. It's all glass in front, so you can check out the goods without even going inside. The goods are enticing, a lot of cute, fashionable shoes propped up just inside the glass. The space isn't big, but it feels spacious. There's generally one employee and zero to few customers inside. I've been in twice, both times with my dog pulling and grumping while I leashed him to my waist and tried on shoes. I was attended by different saleswomen each time, and they were both pleasant and helpful. The shoe selection was great. There were a lot of sandals available, and almost all the ones I was curious about were in stock in my size. There were about four or five Ancient Greek styles, and I tried on two of them in a couple different sizes (along with a few shoes from other brands that were cheaper and, unfortunately, not as cute). I ended up liking them both, and also not having my wallet on my first impulse visit. I decided to sit on it, and went back a week later with money. I tried on the same pairs and picked the black one, which was cheaper and more practical than the very pretty, very stylish burgundy pair. I love these shoes. I can slip into them, and they look and feel fantastic. They cost $200, but I will get my money's worth. I know I could've waited and gotten these shoes online for 20% off or whatever, but I like Vamp and would've felt shitty using them as a showroom. I don't think I'll go in all the time or anything (I'm set for a while on shoes, and also, after all this, I still wear my dog-chewed Rainbows pretty consistently), but I like having this place in my neighborhood and will probably shop here again. read more

Fun atmosphere and, despite its small size, a really cool selection of shoes and bags. When I went in, they only had about 4 purses and all of them were incredible. Shoe prices range from relatively inexpensive ($50-$90) to more pricey but their buyer has a great eye. Definitely worth checking out. You gotta come here when they have their crazy twice a year sales. They practically give away their stuff. I recently purchased 6 pairs of shoes, 2 voluspa candles and some nice made in France leggings for 200 dollars! If they didn't have the sale the total would have been around 800... They also have a sale corner throughout the year if you cannot make it to their crazy busy twice yearly sales. Great shoe store. I always come to browse. During the sales I always buy a pair or two. Regular prices can be steep but sales are fantastic. The shoes are all great quality, leather, some imported from Italy or Spain, Seyschelles brand as well as Aerosoles as long as the shoes work with the aesthetic intended by shop owner. Service is great. Both ladies I've encountered here have been really attentive, sweet and professional in trying to get me sizes, colors and styles. They are willing to offer advice/recommendations; they are knowledgeable about their brands. Because Vamp is a boutique you are not overwhelmed/bombarded by hundreds of shoes but rather the best of the best laid out carefully for you to admire. On one wall you have: boots, winter closed shoes, summer sandals, sale; Other wall you have the new arrivals and the checkout counter. Then there are the shoes on the window display. And lastly a display in the middle of the store with a wide selection of flats. Comfortable place to sit and try on shoes near back wall; and full length mirror so you get a full view of the shoe on your body. Bright natural lighting in store. Sale items are FINAL. Street parking at meters, worth spending 30-45 walking around the neighborhood. Maybe even frozen yogurt snack stop at Froyo Life across the street or a pastry/slice of cake at Alcove. Spitfire Girl a few doors down and other curiosity shops make Vam shoes a fun browse on a lazy afternoon. I was surprised to read a review that said the ladies were rude. I was in there the other day and the sales rep was overly helpful but without trying to push a sale on me. I was happy to find a really cute pair of Minnesota Moccasins in my size (but only after I tried on 6 other pairs of shoes, which homegirl (don't remember her name) was kind enough to get for me to try on. She never made me feel uncomfortable for wanting to try on so many pairs This store is one of integrity and I feel empowered when I support these types of businesses. read more

My cousin and I just stopped by this shop yesterday after we ate at Alcove and we were both obsessed!! All the styles were so cute and our favorite brands (Kork-Ease, Jeffrey Campbell, Frye, Swedish Hasbeens, etc) I usually don't spend too much on my heels but I was definitely considering doling out some cash for more than a couple pairs. I ended up buying some really delicious caramels that were available to sample and purchase. I saw a few other comments about how rude some of the employees are, I can't speak for all of them but the lady working when we went was so nice and thoughtful answering our questions and being really patient with us while my cousin took like ten pictures of all her displays of shoes!! I asked her where she was from and she's from Denmark, so I think there's just a cultural difference in personalities, they don't mean to be outright rude. Vamp is a cute little shoe store that has really great style and excellent customer service. They do sell shoes that are on the pricier side, but that's because their brands are higher quality (Biviel, Rachel Comey, Bloch, and Frye to name a few) and are priced comparably to other stores. You can pretty much pop in here and expect to find that all their shoes are on trend, and most of them are really high quality and comfortable too! Also, the last time I stopped by, they were out of stock of a particular style. They took down my name, phone number, and shoe size and actually called me a few months later when the shoe came back in stock. Sweet! They have a blog that they update pretty frequently with new arrivals, and the one time I went to the store they had a great sale section (Frye heels for $40 or something insane like that!). The store is quite small, and the time I went there I was the only customer, so it was a teensy bit awkward as all the salesperson attention was on me (I like to be more of an anonymous shopper, but I suppose this could be a good thing for someone who wanted a lot of help). The only complaint I have about this store is that they used to carry Chie Mihara, but dont' seem to any more. However.. they are still totally awesome and worth a visit if you're in the area! read more

So I walked into Vamp being told it was very expensive, so I thought I was just going to be looking and not buying. SO happy to tell you that more then half of the stock was on sale and totally affordable!! I walked out with two pairs of Jeffery Campbell shoes that came to a total of $130. I couldn't believe it. The woman that was helping us was super helpful and put up with our incessant questions and requests. I was also super pleased that they had tons of size 9's and 10's!!! I was not allowed entry or dignified with an explanation after I rang the bell, politely waved and smiled at the salesgirl who proceeded to stare at me blankly, approach the window, look me up and down and then just turned her head and ignored me. I've been to this shop a few times now. It is ok. Not great. Out of the approximately 5 times I've been there, I've purchased 2 pairs of shoes - suede moccasins both times, to be exact. What I like: The shop itself is very cute and well organized. The shoes are all quality leather and decently priced. What I dislike: The ladies who work there are nice, but not super friendly. Very conservative. I don't need people to bombard me while shopping, in fact thats highly annoying... but these ladies almost seem like they're not interested in me as a customer - sort of aloof or a tad stuck up. Not quite sure and can't quite wrap my wits around it. Just not genuinely straight up friendly, thats all I know. The other thing is that over the year I've gone back again and again their selection doesn't change much. In fact there are several shoes that have been in their shop for nearly a year now. Time to sell whats not selling to Wasteland and get some fresh style in there! All in all, I'm not excited about this place and don't see myself shopping there again anytime soon. read more

I love shoes. It's a problem.This is one of my favorite shoe stores in LA. Some people have complained about the high prices but they have quality shoes that you can't really get at a cheap store. This is one of my favorite boutiques to shop in Los Angeles -- I am bias towards the Hillhurts side of Los Feliz, but I have always loved the selection of shoes here. I recently purchased a pair of Clark healed boots that I am now obsessed with and don't want the weather to warm up too soon so I can wear them every day! I had the WORST experience with this shoe boutique. I purchased a pair of shoes from Vamp for $185. When I got home, I realized that the shoes did not fit as comfortably as I had hoped. I viewed Vamp's return policy on its website, which indicated that the "original merchandise must be returned in original condition within 10 days from date of receipt for a full refund or exchange. Returns must have a return authorization from Vamp. Please contact vampshoes@gamil.com for a return authorization if necessary." Per these instructions, I e-mailed Vamp requesting a "return authorization," and Vamp responded, informing me that their return policy is exchange or store credit within 14 days of purchase, only. I immediately replied, sharing a screenshot of their conflicting return policy indicated on their website. In response, Vamp thanked me for drawing their attention to the discrepancy on their website and informed me that the return policy on the website was incorrect, that their "web designer probably put it on there by mistake," and that they would "have her change it soon." They further indicated that they have practiced this return policy of exchange or store credit "for 10 years." I replied stating that 1) it was unfortunate that they were unwilling to compromise and provide me with a refund after I pointed out their mistake; 2) their failure to update their website was a poor misrepresentation to their consumers; and 3) their sales clerk failed to verbally mention the return policy to me before I purchased the shoes. Although I pointed these issues out to Vamp, they did not respond. I am very disappointed by the way Vamp treated me. I typically support local businesses in the area, but Vamp lost me (and my girlfriends) as their customers. I would never do business with Vamp again. read more

If you have a weakness for shoes and accessories, I highly advise avoiding this place. It will be the end of you - and many, many a paycheck. But...it is SO worth a visit if you can allow yourself to indulge. Nestled between a tanning salon and an optometrist in a non-descript little corner strip mall in Silver Lake, this place is a GEM. Vamp offers a surprising selection of shoes by great designers...and delightful little extras like Orla Kiely umbrellas (TOO cute - a must even if it never rains here) and sweet little Jelly Bean wallets (about $80). Word to the wise: if you see something you really like, and they have it your size...buy it. Chances are, it won't be there for long. The only other bad thing is that the lot is always full (there's a bloody pinkberry with which to contend). Go at off hours. read more

I pass by this store almost daily during my weekday walks on my lunch break. For the past few weeks I had been eyeing a pair of shoes that were on display, so I finally decided to stop in and try those puppies on. This store carries a limited selection of high quality, beautiful shoes, mostly imported from Europe. The woman who helped me, who may have been the owner, was very friendly and helpful. I was prepared for little to no customer service based on other Yelp reviews, but was pleasantly surprised by how wrong those reviews were. As soon as I tried on the sandals, I was sold. The leather felt like butter on my skin and they are perfect for my upcoming trip to Italy. They were also reasonably priced. Of course I fell in love with many other pairs of shoes on display, which means that I will likely head back for more fun in the near future! I highly recommend stopping by this amazing shoe boutique in the heart of Los Feliz proving that quality trumps quantity. read more

Fantastic little boutique with a tight curation of gorgeous shoes. The shoes on display are so perfect that a larger selection would feel overwhelming; like drowning in gold. I went into Vamp Shoes today for the first time & I was extremely disappointed in their customer service. When I walked in the employee at the the cash wrap didn't even acknowledge that I was there. There wasn't even a hello, how are you? or even a look. I'm sorry but if you are trying to sell shoes there's no way its going to happen by sitting around and doing nothing. Might as well be closed. I may have looked a little scrubby in my t-shirt , puma shorts and flip flops but its a Saturday and was walking back from the cleaners.. I love my shoes from Vamp. I bought a pair of peep-toe Faryl Robyn pumps there that I get compliments on every time i wear them, plus they are so comfortable for heels. Also, I am still wearing the Dolce Vita gladiator sandals I got there last summer, and they are perfect: flat, simple, cute and not too trendy. It used to be closer to my house, but the new location on Hilhurst is bright and airy and right across from one of my favorite breakfast places, The Mustard Seed, so I can eat eggs benedict and plot my post-brunch shoe shopping. read more

This is my favorite shoe store. I've been shopping here for several years. I always know I will find something I like... comfortable, super cute, well-crafted shoes that are always priced well. I've run into some of the shoes they carry here at high-end stores for higher prices. It only confirms my desire to shop small one-off shops in my own neighborhood. The only thing I could complain about would be that I always find more than I need and since it's a small shop they sometimes don't have my size in stock. But that might be a good thing!? Buyer beware. Not only are they not customer friendly and overpriced, they could care less about customer satisfaction or return business. My first time there I bought a pricey pair of boots. When I wore them 3 weeks later, they turned out to be profoundly unwalkable and I knew I would never wear them. I called the store and spoke to Florence, the owner, and asked to return them for store credit. She absolutely refused to consider it because the return policy was 14 days for store credit and I called on the 21st day. Even though she conceded she had allowed returns past 14 days on other occasions, she would not even look at them or allow me to exchange for anything else. I will NEVER shop there again and have told anyone and everyone I know not to bother. The internet has better prices, customer care and return policies. F- read more

Went there for the first time yesterday and I barely missed it. It was in the same corner-strip mall as Pinkberry. Vamp had an assortment of styles that you usually don't find at the mall. Some are really cute and original but they didn't have many of the ones I wanted in my size. The lady there said that it's because they're having a clearance sale right now to make room for next season's inventory. Truthfully, I was a bit disappointed in their shoes. They all looked really nice on their website, but a few didn't look as good or feel quite comfortable when worn. I kinda wanted to go crazy and buy several pairs at once. Didn't happen. Also, what I saw on their website was pretty much what they had. I wanted to be surprised and find more styles at the store, but once again, that didn't happen. Still, I was able to find something I liked in my size. There was a little bit of irregularity with the suede but the sales lady said it was the last pair. I have been a long time customer of Vamp, from their previous location. Shopping at small businesses is alway tough, you want to support the little guy but as a consumer you don't have too much leeway. I purchased a pair of shoes from Vamp, and within 2 hours of wearing them (on carpet) had terrible blisters. I was out of town and didn't have another pair of shoes to match my outfit and ended up cutting my evening short because of it. Immediately when I returned home I called Vamp to ask about returning/exchanging the shoes, after telling my story. They told me to bring them in and they would take a look. I took off work early to do so, and was told they don't give returns on worn shoes. EVER. I asked if they would hold onto them and have the owner review my issue. She said it won't do any good but yeah go ahead. I received a call the next day telling me they would not return them, or give any type of concession at all. There was no wear on the shoes at all, except for a irregularity on the sole of the shoe that I can't say wasn't there when I bought them. I understand small businesses can't refund money for every purchase. That they need to set policies. BUT when a repeat customer comes in with scabs from the shoes you sold them, I believe you make it right. In the past I've purchased shoes from Vamp that broke on the first wearing, and they sent them out for repair instead of replacing them, and I'm okay with that. But not standing behind the product you sell is unforgivable. At least make an effort. read more
