We consulted with Jeff Rebischung at Fine Tree Care to assist us with litigation and we could not be more happy that we did. We unfortunately had a new neighbor file suit against us for an old felled deep forest Douglas fir tree. A very large tree that spanned 3 properties and was professionally felled long ago on a very steep hillside. This neighbor also changed the environmental condition around his portion of the tree trunk and the trunk itself. The changes made were so drastic that it changed the safety condition of the trunk section on our property which lays uphill from our cabin. The neighbor was attempting to have us pay the $12,000 cost of these changes. This complicated situation required the expertise of Jeff at Fine Tree Care. Jeff interviewed us several times, examined all our pictures, understood the history and reviewed our evidence. Jeff then made a site visit to evaluate and validate all he had seen and heard. Jeff then produced a full forensic tree assessment and safety report that spelled out his analysis into a 4 page report. A report that held up in court and was used extensively in our defense. We have aprox 140 trees on our 5 acre property so we have some serious experience with tree care & removal. We've done allot of it ourselves over the past 20 years but we had 2 huge diseased pines over important structures on our property and just felt it was way past our scope of ability to deal with. So we reached out to Fine tree care for an estimate. Had that estimate with in days of reaching out. Work was scheduled with in a week & yesterday they took those big pines down. We were so impressed with their competence, speed, carefulness & understanding of what we wanted. During our meeting, Jeff and I discussed what I wanted Jeff to do with my trees, which included some tree thinning as well as some upper crown tree reduction. I also wanted two branches to be cut, each about 3 to 4 inches in diameter. Despite the high price, I decided to trust Jeff and his crew. On the scheduled day, Jeff's crew arrived promptly, and we went over what was on the contract. I explicitly pointed out the two branches (both 3 to 4 inches in diameter) that I wanted cut. I offered to stay outside with the crew to oversee their progress, however they reassured me that they had everything covered. Fully trusting in their ability, I went into my house to do a few chores. When I came out in about an hour, I couldn't believe my eyes. A huge branch about 7 to 9 inches in diameter was gone! My heart sank and I was in shock. I told the crew that they had cut the wrong branch, but they became defensive and started arguing. After calling Jeff's office and him coming to my house to assess the damage, he offered a discount, but the damage was already done. You cannot glue back half of a tree that used to be there. Now half of my tree is gone, and instead of having a nice shady area, the sun beats down in that spot every afternoon. Additionally, the agreed upon upper crown reduction work was never even started. I am terribly disappointed, and my tree has suffered irreparable damages due to the inattentive and irresponsible work of Jeff's crew. We have never had to hire a tree trimming service. New to the area, our property was somewhat overdue for a proper tree management plan. We contacted several local companies, and were not very impressed. Until we received a call back from Jeff, the owner of Fine Tree Care, in Sebastopol. He personally met us at our home, and educated us on their business practices and environmental management objectives. Since my wife and I were at odds with what we wanted to achieve on our property, Jeff actually guided us on what was needed to accomplish what we both desired. Jeff really went above and beyond by meeting us several times for hours, explaining the process he recommended for our properties tree management plan. He even toured us through a larger project that his company recently completed nearby to show the different types of tree management techniques that were used. Despite the severe rainy weather conditions during the week of our project, Jeff's team was properly prepared to handle it all. Every morning consisted of a full team briefing, and a thorough walk through. All of the staff displayed excellent knowledge and skill, evidence of Jeff's hiring practices and his training methods. Large commercial equipment were used in areas to mitigate the impacts of possible damage to the surrounding environment and our home/garage structures. Following the multi-day project, it was evident that they took extra care to keep our property looking as though they had not recently been there. This was all accomplished only several days before the Christmas holiday, with us having to prepare for visitors staying at our home. Our property is now much improved in all areas that we set out to accomplish. Keep in mind, that this was not a "slash and dash" style of tree trimming. Fine Tree Care is the best contractor I've ever worked with, including plumbers, electricians, and especially some other big name tree people. I've used them twice. They are true experts who, after listening to my concerns, explain what they will do and why, and what to expect after. Their crews do meticulous work and are very courteous and friendly. I've had to trim back a huge maple, a huge persimmon and more. When they finished taking them down several feet in height and trimming out great amounts of cross branching, you could not tell the tree had been pruned if you hadn't seen it before. Very professional fellows that came to Sonoma to cut 1/3 of a bay tree off our fence, prune back oak branches from the sidewalk, and clean up some cedar and redwood branches. We always can use mulch for the garden so they chopped up what they had and left a nice pile in the driveway. All of the debris was cleaned up before they left. The two guys arrive in protective clothing, wear ear phones and head gear. Again, very professional. Also, dealing with Hope in the office is a pleasant experience. We had 2 very special trees pruned by Fine Tree Care this week and were completely satisfied. The owner Jeff came out to our house prior to have a discussion about our options. We were apprehensive because this is an older tree with some issues; but is very dear to us. Jeff understood how important it was to us to preserve the tree so we can continue to enjoy the apples it produces for as long as possible. Our other tree is a beautiful Japanese Maple that also has great significance to us. Jeff made recommendations and his team came out a few weeks later and followed his instructions to the letter. I have seen lots of ads in various local papers and the reviews here seemed positive. My experience has been anything but positive. I called several weeks ago to request an estimate to prune/trim some trees by my house that are overgrown. I spoke with a woman who took down all my details who said the estimator was in the field and would call when they were able. One week later - no calls. I called again, spoke to the same woman and got the same spiel. THIS time I asked them to leave a message on my phone because sometimes my cell phone puts unfamiliar calls to voicemail. Four days later - no call, no message. I understand that things go slower because of Covid but this seems more than should be expected, especially since the promise was to call back in a day or so and there was no indication that it would take weeks to speak with someone. Last week, during the first storm of the season, a huge branch from our whomping willow-esque tree fell on my car during the night. It was large enough to crack my windshield in a few places. We panicked a bit since this tree overhangs the sidewalk and we live across from a school, so visions of another branch falling & hitting a child ensued. Fine Tree Care was recommended to me by my aunt's husband, who is an arborist, as well. I called and told them it was an emergency and they agreed to come out same day!! It continued to pour most of the day, but the FTC gentlemen worked until it was dark, cleaned the street well, and chipped the wood into our yard for later mulching. They also cut some of the better wood into manageable pieces, on request, to use for firewood. Never in my life have I been treated with such respect, care and attention. Never. I left a message asking for help with my new kitten who got himself stuck up a terrifyingly tall redwood tree. Earlier in the day, I had spoken with numerous arborists, fire stations & animal care agencies in the search for help. If I was not completely dismissed, I was either met with ambivalence or disorganization. It seemed that no one could get their act together and no one was interested in assisting. Around 8:30PM, I received a call from Jeff who was returning a message that I left regarding the situation. Before we even talked about what could be done, he gave me some advice based on his experience with curious cats who end up in these precarious situations. I instantly felt like someone actually cared about what was going on - that alone was a major comfort. Jeff then asked me some logistical questions which signaled that I was in the hands of someone who knows what he is doing. He wanted details so that he could make better decisions and offer better assistance. After listening to the kitten cry all night in the tree, my phone buzzed at 6am. It was Jeff asking how my cat was doing. When I let him know that he had not come down overnight - Jeff deployed a truck that was there to help in less than an hour. That's right, less than an hour. Mason and Jacob arrived and were eager to help. But it was not going to be easy. This particular tree was situated in an inconvenient spot; tucked away on top of a steep grade that permitted very little access. Leave it to Nicholas to climb up the most difficult tree. But it seemed like these men were up for anything. They expertly maneuvered their vehicle and equipment, overcoming any logistical trouble that we may have feared. Within minutes, Nicholas was being carried down to us. He was hungry and tired and we were beside ourselves with gratitude. Every year or two I have 2 medium sized oaks thinned and trimmed away from the house. I have used 5 or more local tree companies throughout the years. Most have done a good job, but nothing so special that would make them my go-to-company. So each time I go out for new quotes. This year I contracted with Fine Tree Care. I was very impressed with Jimmy when he came out to provide me a quote, Price wise, his quote was pretty much in-line with the other quotes, but I liked how he recommended we thin and shape the trees. Jimmy brought a crew of 6 and spent the whole day. It is rare the vision that is projected during the quote becomes the reality of the finished cut. I can not speak more highly about the quality of service and expertise of Jeff Rebischung and his crew at Fine Tree Care. We've used a variety of tree services in the past and Fine Tree Care surpasses the others by a wide margin. Fine Tree Care is fully licensed bonded and insured. They're also Licensed Contractors, a Licensed Timber Operator, and both a Registered Professional Forester and a Certified Arborist. They're also Diamond Certified and Better Business Bureau certified and rated A+. Because of the scope of work, we went ahead and scheduled a full day's work for a crew of 7. As we booked a full day, we could get a substantial discount over the prices quoted by other companies. We have 6 large Redwoods (plus another 3 shared with our neighbors), 3 Crepe Myrtles, 1 Cherry Tree, 1 Star Magnolia Tree, plus many large shrubs on just over 1/3rd acre that needed a lot of work. We also had a number of stumps that needed to be removed that could not be accessed by a stump grinder, so they were chopped up and removed by hand. On the day of the project, Jeff arrived with Crew Chief Jimmy and crew members: Dan Greg, Rico, Churro, and Joey. We've dealt with a lot of other tree services in the past, but were totally blown away by the detail briefing Jeff provided his crew before work began. We've never had a service that spent that much time making sure upfront that they would be getting the job done right. As the crew worked, we were delighted at the care they took with our trees and the safe working measures taken. At the end of the day, the meticulous clean-up left our property in perfect condition. We called Fine Tree Care on the recommendation of a friend who had used them. After receiving estimates from six other companies, I can say that their bid was best by far in terms of clarity and professionalism. The estimator provided a verbal quote, but followed up with a detailed, typed quote and contract the next morning from the owner of the business, clearly stating cost, scope and payment terms. Then, they followed up by phone. Every other bid was at best scratched onto a carbon copy bid sheet. Given the extraordinary expense of tree removal and the fact that any mistake could result in serious damage to our house or neighbors' property, good communication is a huge trust builder! My biggest fear was that their bid came in almost 20% lower than the others. But then they showed up with a huge crew of 8 people and a fleet of vehicles, and they took the eight huge, dangerous trees down and removed all traces of them in four days. Very pleased!! read more

We have .6 acre on Brush Creek and numerous trees of different types. Our forest was in need of attention and upon the raving recommendation of my mother-in-law and several other folks whose opinions I respect I called Fine Tree Service in Sebastopol. They brought eight guys--all very polite and obviously competent--and spent about 9 hours trimming, pruning, and removing oaks, sycamore, plum, conifers, and various shrubs. They pointed out the Japanese maples should not be pruned at that time because the trees were still bearing leaves. (Another service) did the previous pruning job and they chopped away on the maples, leaves and all. Before they began they took photographs of the yards so they could replace anything they had to move while working for safety reasons. All the trimmings were chipped and shredded for mulch and weed control and spread where requested. By the way, no one on the crew stands around. If they are not cutting they are raking or sweeping. When they left, the place looked like a new park. There was not a twig or leaf left on the ground. This was the most positive experience I have had with tradesmen of any trade in a very long while. When the maples shed their leaves we called them back to take care of those trees, as well. These guys are PROS in veery sense of the word. read more

This review supercedes an earlier review that was written shortly after Fine Tree Care informed us it was dishonoring a contract that we had signed in good faith three months earlier to remove trees burned in the 2017 Nuns fire. Up to that point we had engaged FTC a number of times for similar work and held them in the highest possible esteem for the jobs they had done. We still feel that way about them and will ask them to come out again as needed. The reason for our change of heart is we were apprised after FTC discovered that the dishonored contract was apparently one of many written by an employee(s) without the owner of FTC's knowledge, for purposes contrary to the company's. Heartfelt and sincere apologies were made to us by FTC and we accept them gladly. It is unfortunate FTC was victimized by this. This company is a fraud and almost ripped us off. I had their guy come out there and asked for a price to cut three trees. They estimated around $12000, I couldn't believe how much they charged. I finally had one of my amigo friends get in contact with their buddies who were professional tree cutters and did the job for $5000. Please don't let this place rip you. read more

I love these people! I give them a '10'! Wow what an incredible experience. First, I need to say that Jeff (the owner) is truly a tree-whisperer. He loves trees. Sees them in their beauty. I called their answ srvc yo xcel which did not get passed on to the arborist who still came out - not complaining I just felt bad. The arborist was very thorough in the examination of the trees in question even though they had already been trimmed he took time to look them over and give me feedback. We moved into our house a few years ago and decided it was time to clean up the yard and trees which were a bit overgrown. We called Fine Tree Care and the owner Jeff came out to walk the yard with us. He had a deep knowledge not only of the trees we had but also in the yard design which showcases our house best and the sense that the work he envisioned would encourage growth throughout the day and each season. You could tell he was sensing how added light and breezes would make each tree feel. He reviewed the yard as an ensemble and not a set of individual plants. He also noticed a critical issue with our centerpiece 150-year old oak tree we needed to address ASAP. He got his team right on it as we wanted to transform the yard in just three days while my wife was on a business trip. I counted 2 stump grinders, three booms and 8 chainsaws working diligently and before my wife came home, the yard was cleaned up, all debris removed and the house view transformed.
