i'm giving Finetouch 1 star because I can't give them a 0. first when I got to the salon the lady at the chair with a short blonde pixie cut couldn't be bothered to even look up from her phone or computer to speak to me. then when i pick my color she has me just standing there instead of calling the ladies over that need to do our pedicure (i was with my mother). after I am the one to ask her "well now what" that's when she picks her head up from her phone and lazily calls over the ladies that are to service us. Appointment was easy to make over the phone. I was quoted a price on the phone and it was honored in person. They send a text as Covid precaution and a form to fill out. Salon is on a Main Street with metered parking, bring quarters, 2 hrs max. I came on a day there was construction, it was complicated lol Once inside, temperature is taken and mask is required. I had an appointment for a regular pedicure and acrylic fill. I had to wait 20 minutes for my pedicure but luckily the salon was empty so no crowding issues. Pedicure was okay, not relaxing. Acrylic fill was very rushed. I recently moved to Hackensack from NYC. I am very much into nail art and the creativity that comes with it. I have been looking for a nail salon in the area as i have been driving to and from NJ to NYC every 2-3 weeks to get my nails done by my nail tech of 6 years so this was a big deal for me. I was introduced to fine touch by someone I met at a local bar. I made my appointment online for a fill-in which was very convenient. I booked for a fill-in and left $20 deposit. I arrived at 7:58am, my appointment was for 8am and Billy started my nails. I told him what I was looking for I had a picture (very into nail art and showing creativity through my nails) and he advised very abruptly that he could not accomodate me because the time allowed for a fill-in was 1 hour and he had a client right after. Understood, however I think this should be communicated while booking an appointment online so that the client has an option to choose nail art that will add additional time to their service. He did 4 nails with art and the others were plain...He was done right at 8:57am, he worked fairly quickly and the quality was a 8/10. While doing my nails I asked him if he had an Instagram where I could see his work, again very rude he said NO. (Which I found out later was a lie...why he lied I have no idea...weird) I was not happy with the results because I came there with a picture of what i wanted and he didn't deliver, in fact was rude about it. When he was done he got up, went out to smoke, didnt try to accomodate me at all eventhough his next client had not arrived. I paid $70(including deposit) for my fill-in which is not bad considering I am used to paying $120+ per visit in NYC. I didnt get upset although I didnt feel welcomed or appreciated as a potential new loyal client who does not mind spending money on her nails frequently. I advised whom I assume was the owner how unhapy I was and he took my payment. I normally tip my nail tech 20%+ however this is the 1st time I did not. The owner initially made an excuse for Billy advising he had another client however this client still hadnt shown up, so Billy definately could have accomodated me. I asked the owner if someone else Could finish up the nail design for me. Initially he said no one was available then he said he would be able to have someone help me in about 15 minutes so I waited. I waited for about 10 minutes and a young lady was able to finish up the nail design for me she did a good job as well I was charged another $25 for six nails making my total $95 and I tipped her $10 for literally 10 minutes. Again I don't mind tipping if the customer service is A+ and she did a good job. Overall would I return, No and not because the quality of the work was not good but because the customer service was lack luster I did not understand the nasty attitude that Billy had maybe he had a rough morning not sure but I work in sales and will never treat a potential new client this way especially when they are spending their money with me. The location of this nail salon is prime real estate as there are so many new luxury buildings being built and it will definitely bring new clientele to them however I will make sure that I share my experience with other new potential clients that may be looking for a new nail salon. I've never had this experience at a nail salon in New York City this is something new for me I spend a lot of money on my nails and I don't mind. getting my nails done is about the artistry and the experience. I came to get my nails done on Saturday and the nail technician rushed through my nails. I noticed two of my nails were bubbling with the polish and pointed it out. Instead of her redoing the polish she used a nail file to get it out then added more polish. She was in a hurry to eat her lunch. The next day the polish lifted off my thumb and I called to complain. I came back to get it fixed and the receptionist was very nice and wanted to help me. She asked a worker who was not busy Jessica to assist and she shook her head and said no. Jessica had no client and the shop was basically empty. She proceeded to chat with another worker while she was doing a client's nail. Customer service needs to be improved. To have an employee shake her head NO for a customer to see is rude. Luckily a very sweet woman name Julie came in and fixed my nail and is now giving me a pedicure. So I went back two days later and he said that it was because I had my son sitting next to me. I also paid $15 for 3 nails to have designs... when I asked him for a different color and design the second time he said NO. Although I had already paid the $15?! He was so rude. In honor of a birthday treat, I decided to make a reservation. I showed up for my appointment about an hour early and just hung out. I noticed numerous clients coming and going quickly and close to my appointment time. Thankfully, Billy finished all of them promptly and came to get me at 2:59pm for my 3:00pm appointment. His quickness can be both a positive and negative. I'm usually very aware of the control of my body. I like to hold my own hands in place for my nail techs. Billy seemed to find this frustrating and kept stressing for me to relax. However, I was relaxed. Regardless, my nails looked amazing even though he did nothing for my cuticles. I've had my acrylic set on for almost three weeks and they're still hanging on nicely and looking beautiful. My pedicure was done by Laura. She seemed nice at first but, also appeared to rush through my pedicure. She didn't have another client after me so she definitely could have taken her time. When I went to pay, I was a little peeved that the services were more than what I reserved through their appointment site. I didn't even get anything decorative. I was also annoyed that the credit card I used to hold the reservation apparently wasn't accepted in the salon. Something else that really bugged me was that a few days later, Billy posted a passive-aggressive Instagram story about fighting the client over control of their hands. Over the past few months, the cost of a regular pedicure and a gel manicure changed from $55 to $60 to $65. Today I was told that the price would be $70 so I walked out. To add insult to injury, two weeks ago I received cuts to my thumb and little finger after waiting 20-minutes for my appointment. I never cheat on my nail tech but she left for vacation and I forgot to make an appointment before hand. I knew that Main Street had a lot of salons so I went there. They charged $45 for a gel pedicure so I was like okay a little High but if they're doing a full pedicure that's worth it. First she uses the drill to remove my polish which was already a red flag. You're supposed to use cotton and aluminum foil so that it just melts off with minimal damage to the nail. She continued with the pedicure and I was very underwhelmed. I asked if they had callus removal services and she said yes it would be an extra $10. Now the appointment goes left from here. She does the first removal using minimum callus gel and doesn't immediately wrap my feet in plastic to the point I had to get gloves and do it myself!!! Then because of how carelessly she removed the gel my large toe nail CRACKED!!! I left in tears!! The owner was not going to give me back my money initially but saw how upset I was when I left that day and knew I wasn't going to come back so nicely so he gave it back.He even tried to give me the same spiel of how she wasn't knew and she took time to do my nails. NO SHE DIDNT IT TOOK ALMOSY TWO HOURS WHICH WAS A RED FLAG AND it still came out ugly so that just shows you. I told him I had to go get another pedicure so it was only right I got my money back. The temperature is take upon arrival, hands have to be sanitized. The stations are sanitized after every customer. Jenny does my nails, she is great. Jason did a great job getting the place ready/safe for his customers. I feel safe going to this place knowing they care for the well being of their customers and employees. If you're looking for quality nail work, this is NOT the place to go. My daughter and I tried Martha out three times. Yes, we went to her three times hoping for a better outcome but unfortunately, it only got worse. During our last visit, we both got a regular Pedicure, gel fill-ins and SOME design. My design was simple and my daughter had marble done. The tech said it would be about $10 for the design for my daughter so we continued on until we had to check out. The totally was $244 for two (2) manicures and pedicures. I was in shock but paid assuming it was a miscommunication. Didn't fuss about anything just paid and left. What bothered me was the fact that our nails were a MESS by the time day 2 came. We couldn't even comb our hair without our nails getting caught into our hair. Then the gel colors started chipping off and the nails detached from the gel causing it all to be a completely regret in wasting that much money on bad work. Won't return. Not worth it at all! I've gone to a few people but Gaby is my main tech. I always get a pedicure, gel manicure, and eyebrows done with her. When I have a nail emergency and she isn't in I go to Mariela or Marina. Lilly is also great she does my family member's nails. They did a great job once quarantine was lifted and they were able to re-open. They have plexi-glass all over, they take your temperature at the door, they have hand sanitizer accessible, they require masks, and they ask that you wash your hands as soon as you walk in. They sanitize really well after each client. Fine Touch is innovative and always looking for new services to offer. They recently started facials and lashes. I came in for a dip powder manicure and regular pedicure ($70). Five of my finger nails chipped in one day. I called and was told I could come in to have my nails fixed.
