I went for the first time and I booked an appointment with Valeria. I believe she's new to this location. Valeria did a MAGNIFICENT job. I had seen her work on others, but to see my own nails looking the way they did?! WOW. I will say my nails were VERY pricey but for the quality, I can't complain. I love love love them and will be back for her.
This is for their new location in Wallington. I personally love trying out new nail salons in the area and was excited for this location to open. I'm not really impressed with this location at all. Pedicure was mediocre. The guy doing my nails could not understand that I wanted my nails cut down more and proceeded to smooth down the top of my toes- WTF?! I also asked for a callus remover- again could not understand me. Eventually he was able to find a bottle and applied very little of the remover then wrapped my feet. After he took the wrapping off he used a pumice to take off the chemical- hmmm I've never had it done like that before. The guy then tried scrubbing off the hard skin (it's really not that bad just wanted fresh feet since summer is over!) on the bottom of my foot... he rubbed so hard that he cut the side of my foot and didn't understand what he did at first. Are you kidding me?! Offered me a bandaid at the end of the pedicure but still. Not a good first impression.. The lady who did my fill in was extremely sweet. My nails came out ok, but here's what got me- the pricing for a fill in! Aside from the normal $28 charge for the fill in there's a $5 reshaped/cut down fee? Never have I ever in the past few years of getting fill ins have I seen this type of fee. Unless I'm desperate to get my nails done, I probably won't return even though I was happy with the way my nails turned out in the end (hence the 3 stars). Enjoy the photo of the cut on my foot..
This review does NOT reflect on David at all, but on Akoi. Davis is talented and I've been going to him since I was in high school. When he changed salons, I followed. I just officially moved back to North Jersey and was really excited to book an appointment with him before I went on vacation. I called Aug 22, spoke to a man. Told me David was on vacation but said he would be in from 3:30-6:30PM on Aug 28. I took the 3:30. My vacation was the next day leaving at 6AM. I GOT THREE texts to confirm, one having me click a link to confirm (I included the receipts). Now here is the issue: I get there at 3:15. I am told David is not here, he's on vacation. I showed them the texts... I get told to wait. Another woman comes out and I ask if someone can take me as I am going on vacation tomorrow. She said, and I quote, "no, maybe try one of the other salons" I showed her the messages again and she said no one would have booked them. I told her I spoke to a man and I know for a fact it was NOT David. It wasn't the mix up with his schedule. It was the fact that they just shrugged it off and stared at me like I had 5 heads when I walked in there. I would only go back there for David because he does beautiful quality work. The establishment itself is trash.
They did a good job with my gel manicure. It lasted two weeks and the only thing I had to tell the manicurist was to file them a little bit more even. On the other hand my niece wanted tips and they looked terrible and FELL OFF in a week because they were so badly done. Bottom line: just come for the manicure- do not get tips or do anything else.
Akoi Nails is a great salon! They're very clean and will accommodate you if they have someone available. Although I do suggest you make an appointment before coming in because I don't they'll take a walk in on the weekends, they're always very busy. I haven't had much interaction with the staff other than Ale and Daniela. Daniela is my nail artist and she slays my nails EVERY SINGLE TIME. She's a perfectionist (as am I so I appreciate this) and pays really close attention to details, designs, and especially the shape of your nails. Daniela is my go to gal for nails and I haven't found anyone in the area that compares. It's completely worth the time and money honestly. Daniela's IG for those interested in seeing more of her work is @thequeen.of.nails
My new fav.nail salon. I highly recommend this nail salon. My go to lady is Luz she is an amazing lady. Always going above and beyond to make your experience at the salon great, good recommendations and such a positive person. Their gel polishes are good quality polishes, so you would not experience any chipping at all.
What a great Salon. All the nail techs can do some bomb nails. I got to Daniela. She has done my nails twice and did so good. The shape is so perfect. I hate wide thick nails and she does them just the way I ask. The polish doesn't look to thick. And they are updated with the latest polish, styles and everything. I'm so picky with my nails especially if I'm paying $90 for a set or fill in but it's worth it. I have found my new nail lady and salon. I haven't gotten a pedicure there but I will try that next visit. Change of mind about this salon! I drive about 45 mins to the salon to get my nails done. The lady who made the appointment with me didn't shows up or have the courtesy to know she wasn't coming. No manger was around to resolve this issue. Definitely won't be going again.
My new favorite nail place! There were so many nail color choice to choose from it was amazing. Everything was so clean. Also, the pedicure stations and the manicure stations were in two different sections so you don't have to watch others get their feet scrubbed and vice versa. This was also the first nail place that didn't make fun of how short my nails were or yell at me for biting them. Instead she told me that to be strong and relax more in life and to be happy! I thought that was really nice. I can't wait to go back for the rest of my nail pampering career
I would not recommend this place at all! I used to go here before the pandemic with awesome Alejandra! I decided hey what the heck, I'll just go since all I want is acrylic on my tiny natural nails. I have been doing my nails with dip powder for the last month and love it! My nails have grown. The night before I'm ready with my entire set up and the first step of the system (the base of the dip powder) doesn't want to open for nothing in the world. Next day I go to beauty shops to see if they sell it and they didn't. Since I had soaked my nails the day before I really didn't want to compromise them by keeping them bare. I said what the heck for the time being I'll go to the salon and get a quick acrylic fill on them! Omg! It was torture! Something that should've taken at most an hour took two!! I wanted to cry! Since I had tried to do the dip powder with regular top coat I had it on all my nails. I literally pulled them off like plastic myself. But the one tech decided she wanted to take the stuff off the pinky herself. Took her 30 min on one pinky nail. Then proceeded to slowly do my nails. I mean 10 minutes each nail. I was horrified. I even took a pic. Thankfully she sent me to her coworker because I needed to get out of that torture chamber asap!!! The next tech does everything super fast. I was like thank goodness. When I get up and ask how much? They charged me $65 to just put acrylic on my own nails. Saying I did a soak which I didn't. When I complained he told me he could only give me back $5 because the first girl had to take off the pinky dip powder (which was peel off, but she insisted she do it). I was so ready to get the hell out of there I didn't have the energy to argue. I should've known this experience was going to be bad! I've had a bad experience before with a pedicure. The lady made me bleed and she proceeded to paint my nails with blood seeping out my big toe. Two weeks later to the dr I went. I had an infected toe nail and needed an ingrown taken out. This place went from ehhh there there to just horrific. Stay away!!!!! They will rip you off.
From the moment I called to make an apt to the time I left from my appointment this was a pleasant experience, I thank Carmen who took care of me and set me up for an appointment at the last minute , I had been to this location years ago only once and I remember that the young lady who did my nails was very good and so I decided to give it another chance , the tech who serviced me was Elise and she was super gentle and took her time to make sure she accomplished my desired look. And I'm very pleased and would jus like to say thank you for a great all around experience.
This is my update ! I've been coming back to Akoi only to be seen by Alejandra (Ale) ! She is one of their BEST technicians and always does a great job on my nails . She was recommended to me by my sister and her friends & im so happy to finally have someone do my nails just perfectly ! I highly recommend Ale or Daniella . They're both amazing .
Disappointed by the wait and the quality. The salon is not ventilated and after an hour of waiting for my 12:30 "appointment" I was still not seated in a salon chair and now getting a huge headache because of the smell. While the owner was trying his best to accommodate the constant influx of people it would be better to honesty tell people "come back tomorrow." After a day the gel manicure already started to chip
I go to the akoi nails in Wallington The scheduling for an appointment is online so it's quick and easy. I've been two times and both times I never had to wait. I go to Rachel and she is excellent. The salon and very clean and everyone is very professional. My nails look amazing each time I go. I am definitely happy to have found this place. It's not easy to find a good nail salon. Though the reviews here had my worried at first since it's so mixed. I think it really depends who you are going to. My experience has always been very positive. The pricing is moderate but I think for good nails it's worth paying a good price. I like to get designs so I've paid between $60-80. I I would definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

I wanted to like this place but I'm very disappointed in the outcome of everything. My nails are not the same shape/length then the rest of my fingers. The shape is all lumpy and not even nice. The polish started chipping 2 days after getting them done. On top of the shaping and chipping, this was more expensive than any other place I've been too so that really set me off. $100 on nails that aren't even done right and chipped. So upset. I'm not one to complain or give anyone a hard time about nails but this really bothered me. read more

I booked my first appointment but to my dismay, I showed up and Yusvenia wasn't in and no one called me to cancel (not her fault) and needless to say, I was very annoyed. The management there did not apologize or anything, just stood there staring, aloof. I decided to reschedule my appointment for 2 days later because I heard yusvenia does nails really well, and I was not disappointed! She did such an awesome job on my full Set and best of all, it didn't break the bank. Yusvenia is very nice and sweet. She is awesome, I recommend her highly. The salon is nice and clean, which is always a plus! I am giving 5 stars only because of Yusvenia, not the salon management. They need to get it together , since it's not the first review here that mentions the customer did not receive a phone call for cancellations. That is highly unprofessional. read more

Akoi nails always works magic on my nails. Ale is amazing with her shaping and designs. When I show her something she makes it happen, even exceeds my expectations. Everyone there is always nice and I never have an issue getting an appointment and being taken on time. The receptionist is so sweet and always makes me feel welcomed. Akoi has a very satisfied customer in me. read more

They do an OK job but Jesus Christ these people don't get off their phones. The two guys there will place the phone between their legs and they will literally stop doing your nails every 2 min and be on the their phone for 5 minutes. If you're in rush that's the not the place for you!!!! I've never seen something like that I had to go off on him so he can stop being on his phone and finish my damn nails !!!! read more

I've been doing my. NAils since the age of 15. Never have I ever loved my nails as much as I do after coming here. No wait. Clean salon. Workers make you feel super comfortable and welcomed. Amy was so concerned about the quality of my nails and was very informative and super polite. David works with passion and pride. He SLAYED my nails and the price was surprisingly good. My nails stay in tacked every time I come here. I do not have to get a refill until 3-4 weeks later which is awesome .I am so happy to find my new happy place. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !! read more

I've been here twice and the first time was a good experience. My nail tech Valeria was very nice and took her time. She did a nice job! However I went back on Saturday for a refill and Valeria was unavailable. A young man said he would take care of me and honestly I am very underwhelmed with the job he did. He didn't shape my nails like I wanted which was the same shape Valeria gave me. He rushed me off the chair to get a pedicure because he had an appointment come in. Then I get a pedicure and have some of the ladies huddled around which seemed like they were making fun of me or something. I proceeded to tell the young lady that my feet were burning and as a result of the callous removal my feet burned and now have burn marks!! I'm very disappointed because my nails look terrible. He rushed doing my nails he didn't shape them down at all. When I got home I used a nail file to fix them a little bit. But honestly after getting burned on my feet I won't be going back. Also My nail is already lifting and it's only been 2 days smh read more

When I first walked into Akoi Nail salon I was immediately greeted by the manager. He was very friendly. The salon was clean and well staffed. Great nail polish choices and numerous services at reasonable prices. I came in on a Saturday morning during a holiday weekend and my wait was no longer than 10minutes. Julie was my manicurist she also performed my pedicure with callus treatment. She was very gentle and kind and made great suggestions. I highly recommend this nail salon if you are looking for a great manicure/pedicure experience. read more
