Shakshuka*
Katherine N.

My friends and I came to Finch & Fork for their 'Bubbles & Brunch' experience. The entrance to this spot is through the Kimpton Canary Hotel and is not difficult to locate. Surprisingly enough, we had no wait on a Saturday during optimal brunch time. DRINK/FOOD: Bottomless Mimosas - They were HUGE. They came with three juice options: orange, cranberry, and/or grapefruit. In my opinion, the grapefruit juice pairing was the best. You can get buzzed pretty fast off of these. Shashuka (3.5/5) - It was my first time having shashuka, and I think this spot provided a decent overall introduction to the dish. The pinsa bread was delicious, but the default amount you receive is definitely not enough. I found myself eating the tomato sauce by itself, and it felt as if I was just eating spoonfuls of fancy spaghetti sauce. (Could've gotten extra pinsa for $3... but nah.) Breakfast Burrito - My friend had this and stated that it was subpar. Its components did not consist of anything to provide crispy, structural textures, so overall, it felt like she was eating breakfast mush. SERVICE: The service was phenomenal here. Everyone was super attentive, so our waters and mimosas were always refilled super quickly. They also do check up on you quite frequently, but I think that's mainly because we opted for bottomless mimosas. TLDR// I would say this place is better known for its booze and not its bites. Come here to get buzzed accompanied by great service.

Avocado toast with smoked salmon

We had dinner and lunch here while we stayed at the kimpton and everything was delicious. Service can be a bit slow but it's friendly. The food is on the pricier end as well but they have healthy portions. For food at breakfast we tried the yogurt chia bowl, traditional breakfast (eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast) and the avocado toast with smoked salmon. The yogurt bowl wasn't overly sweet and I loved all the toppings on it. The avocado toast was huge! They definitely didn't skimp on toppings and the smoked salmon was perfect. Not fishy or too smoky/salty. For dinner we got the mushroom noodles and the confit fried chicken. The noodles were very savory and rich but didn't feel too heavy. The confit fried chicken came with a huge piece of thigh and leg piece. Perfectly fried and the potatoes and broccolini were well cooked. We also got wine with dinner and they let us try some before we committed to glasses.

Absolutely love this restaurant the service is always amazing! The food was delicious, they managed to serve a basic plate of fruit with such elegance. That wasn't all we ordered because we were a large group. Would recommend going in if you're in town. The server Erik was wonderful and the manager, Robert was also very pleasant.

I would rate this more of a 3.5 stars. We decided to have Sunday brunch here before we left Santa Barbara. My friend put us on their waitlist through their website while heading over. The place was empty when we arrived. Finch & Fork was located in the Kimpton Canary Hotel. It was a very nice hotel. We parked in the parking structure next door to the hotel. We started our brunch with the F&F Deviled eggs. You can order it by two or four. We opted for the 4 since it was three of us. The deviled eggs had pork belly in it. I thought it taste more on the vinegary side but it was good. It was burst with different flavors profile. For my entrée, I decided to order the F&F Eggs Benedict. The Eggs Benedict was okay. I did like the English muffin and the smashed potatoes but the benedict itself was nothing special. I thought everything we ate was very typical and nothing really something I would come back for. I think the chef cooked well, I think they need a new revamp brunch menu to have better options. The service was good. Overall, there are plenty of other brunch places in SB but maybe their lunch or dinner might be better.

Everything I ate here tasted really good but the deviled eggs were exceptional. I really like deviled eggs generally but these were just perfect. The meat on top and the color of the egg made it so good. The restaurant was very nice and had a cozy feel. It is inside the hotel but on a seperate part. The service was nice and the salad I had was really good. The salmon was cooked right and the lettuce was crispy and fresh.

I recently had the pleasure of eating at Finch and Fork and what a treat it was. If you're not staying at the hotel, but looking for an excellent breakfast or brunch location it's very convenient as there is hotel parking. We were unable to park at the hotel lot due to the farmers market, but I think in general it would be a great place if you didn't want to worry about parking. We were delighted to enjoy bottomless mimosas for $28 to augment our brunch. The service was very attentive and all the staff were very friendly. The food came very quickly. As we were there for brunch, we ordered breakfast burritos and I tried the brace beef short ribs over sweet potato hash. Everything was very good and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I don't know that I would have the short ribs for breakfast again. it seemed more like a lunch or dinner item with eggs . However, it was as described in the menu and it was very good. The restaurant is light and airy and it's a convenient location for walking around State Street before or after you eat. I don't think this is our last trip to Finch and Fork!

The food was excellent!! The Shakshuka was perfectly spiced and absolutely delicious. The Lemon Ricotta pancakes were loaded with flavor and topped with fresh strawberries. Our server was very nice. The atmosphere was quiet and luxurious inside. The prices were definitely on the high side. The location is inside the Kimpton Hotel.

Located inside a hotel so it's a nice atmosphere! Very attentive servers - we definitely felt cared for. The food on the other hand was just okay - not bad but also not spectacular. There was no kick / not enough acid on both the chicken Caesar salad, as well as the chicken sandwich, making everything taste the same. We had to ask for hot sauce. Jalapeños or something pickley might have really helped here. Also, they don't have breakfast all day, so be mindful of that when you look through yelp pictures and go during lunch. We went for the French toast, but realized that they weren't serving it anymore so were super bummed (in hindsight we shouldn't have assumed they had brunch food all day). Overall of very pleasant space, and would definitely try coming back again for the breakfast.

Finch & Fork is the all day restaurant and bar at the Kimpton. The b'ness event I attended had an afta party at the bar to close out the festivities. Prior to the afta party, Ivan was a great bartender! He poured drinks for me on Wed & Thu during my stay. He is super nice & friendly. The bar itself is small, but there are a number of small tables nearby. All in all, a very positive experience vs the mediocre experience at the hotel. I would come just to the bar to have Ivan pour me drinks.

This is a really cute brunch spot in downtown SB that is walking distance to lots of cute shops nearby. We had a reservation and were seated pretty quickly. Unfortunately it was a little loud since there was a DJ stationed right in from of the check in stand of the restaurant. The food came out in a timely manner. I got the club sandwich while my friend ordered the Benedict. Both were delicious and we would recommend them to anyone planning on trying this restaurant. It is tucked away in the corner of a boutique hotel which makes you just want to stay there for a treat yourself staycation!

We had Sunday Brunch with Bottomless Mimosas here. The presentation of the food was stunning. The service was outstanding. We had the deviled eggs which were served with a piece of Asian-spiced pork belly. My avocado toast was the prettiest I've ever seen and the tastiest. This is definitely a place to go to.

King Salmon* has perfect crispy skin $37

In the Kimpton hotel behind lobby. Dinner was wonderful. Diver scallops were huge, cooked perfectly with unique combo of artichokes wrapped in ham. The salmon was great with perfect crispy skin. The macaroni & cheese was one of the best we've had. Specialty bourbon drink "the golden hour" was good but a total rip off at $19 for a very small goblet glass filled with ice first. Enjoyed the food enough to keep the 5 star review. Our server was hustling on a Wed night. He also sat us & looked to have the whole dining room although it is small & there were food/drink runners to assist.

I was spending a couple days in SLO and had been eating and drinking my way through the town. I was really wanting an elevated meal so when I saw a server in a really chic uniform/apron I asked where she was coming from, and I am so glad I did. My only regret was not having a large enough stomach or a friend to share more food with. I started with the hamachi crudo and when I say I almost picked up the bowl to drink the juice I am not joking. I asked for a spoon and demolished what was left. I also got the beet & burrata dish which was fantastic. The crushed pistachio paste on the bottom was out of this world. I cannot wait to go back on my next visit to SLO!

In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

I've been to Santa Barbara loads of time and this was the first time walking into this place. They did have a security guard in front checking ID. The crowd was pretty lively for Saturday night but not too overly packed. Piano man was having his moment. Hence the reason we walked in. Tables and booths were pretty much taken but we manage to get a seat at the bar counter. Cocktail menu had all you drinks, both mixed and specialty. It's a full bar so whatever you're craving I'm sure they could create. We got a few drinks as there was a couple of us. The bartenders was really sweet and fun. She was having a good time and taking care of everyone. It was only her when we walked in but a few others showed up a couple of minutes later. One of the cocktails was a bit too sweet for me so I opted for another. Went with a beer which was ok. Drink wise, about 18-20.00 per cocktails. About average wherever you go to now. Even though we were at the bar counter, a waitress came over to take our order. Piano man was very good. When we walked in he was taking request from the audience. Afterwards, the song choices were pretty great. And the sing along with everyone was fun. Hence why people love a good piano bar. Would I come back, yes. The vibe was great. It was fun place with a good amount of seating. There's a nice big bar area as well as patio seating in front. I don't know if food is offered. Would definitely come back for a fun night.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience. We were looking for a laid-back and unique venue, and Brass Bear absolutely delivered. From start to finish, the team (especially Emily!) went above and beyond to make our day perfect. The space itself is welcoming and full of character, while also feeling elevated and thoughtfully designed. We actually saved a lot on decor because the venue was already so beautiful on its own. The top things that really set Brass Bear apart (aside from the space itself) were the staff and the food/drinks. The staff -- Every single person we worked with was kind, responsive, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure everything ran smoothly and that it was truly the party of our dreams. They were incredibly accommodating, handled logistics seamlessly, and anticipated needs before we even had to ask. It honestly felt like they cared about our wedding just as much as we did. Also throughout the evening, on their own, the amazing staff checked in on me and the groom, seeing if we wanted a drink refill or a cup of water. The food-- Hands down the best menu we sampled while choosing a reception venue. We wanted a place that would have a spread guests would talk about long after the event, and for months afterward our friends and family were still bringing up the tri-tip and how good everything tasted. Not only was the main food insanely delicious, the welcome charcuterie table was put together beautifully with so many options. The drinks -- The open bar was fantastic! Brass Bear offered a great variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks as part of their open bar, the flow of guests being served at multiple bar stations stayed steady all evening with no bottlenecks, and they even helped me create a custom cocktail to match my purple hair. I also probably emailed (literally) a thousand questions throughout the planning process, and every single one was met with a kind, thoroughly explained answer, or a "let's see if we can make that work!" response, which made the planning feel like a breeze and really fun. If you're considering Brass Bear Brewery for a wedding, celebration, or any special event, do not hesitate. They helped create memories we'll treasure forever, and we are SO grateful we chose them. Highly, highly, highly recommend.
