The store itself has a great vibe with beautiful well-made Men's clothing and accessories. It's on the pricier side but that's to be expected for the Seaport Location. The staff on the other hand was a little painful. I was interested in purchasing a hat for my husband and asked if they had a new one outback (instead of the display) the cashier replied "we don't have any new ones, but I can get you one from outback" um ok, isn't that the same thing?? Then when I went to pay cash, she told me it had to be exact or else she couldn't take it. You don't take cash during the holiday season?? she didn't apologize or offer a potential solution (like try to find two fives from the staff, you know think outside of the box) I just left. read more

Been a long time user of this brand and had to order online before they opened their store in Boston. Filson makes some of the highest quality stuff out there. The best stuff they have is the mackinaw wool but everything is great like the oiled tin cloth, leather and luggage, and outdoor wear. I like mackinaw wool best because it can be layered for all seasons and is good in snow and rain (counter intuitively) so its really perfect for Boston. The best thing is the classic cruiser coat, patented in like 1912 or something, it has so many pockets, is super warm but breathable... it's pretty amazing. All the stuff fits at least a size down from normal, but they were really great with helping me exchange sizes. The stuff here is definitely expensive but worth it. I got some pricey sweatpants here, but they are such high quality and were made in the USA like the cruiser coats. A lot of stuff is hand made here in the USA, but some isn't so check the tags. I was sad the mole skin shirt was made in Sri Lanka, so I opted for the 100% wool Jac shirt made in USA. The store is really awesome and the staff are all super helpful. I got some stuff online and none of it fit and they helped me exchange it all with out me thinking twice. Nathan was particularly kind and helped me with sizing and made some pretty awesome suggestions when they didn't have my size and color preference. read more

I've been to this store twice. It's the best storefront for Filson in Boston. I saw the previous review citing the "being followed" feeling so I was curious and more watchful. I didn't see any such behavior on my latest visit. My first visit I wasn't specifically paying attention but didn't feel like I was being stalked. The staff was courteous, helpful, and knew the products well. As an Air Force member previously stationed in Seattle, I'm very familiar with the brand and the ridiculous level of quality. A wool jacket purchased in 1999 is still going strong. This trip I was looking for a messenger bag and they let me fully explore the products without any nags; even showing me some of the vintage bags that Filson has refurbished. I highly recommend this store if you are interested in extremely high quality products. Some may be put off by some of the pricing. But having outer wear that will last 20 plus years is well worth the investment! read more

If you believe in the adage, "I'm too poor to buy cheap..." Filson's will be on your short list when you're looking for hard wearing, high quality clothes. Two doors down from Filson's is LL Bean. It's useful to compare Filson's with LL Bean, for both stores cater to outdoorsy people. For example, Filson's has polar fleece jackets for sale that don't skimp on the construction. Stop into LL Bean and the fleece jackets are very thin; they won't keep you warm. Same for shirts--the Filson shirts (whether you are a man or a woman) are tanks, durable and well-made. Can't say that for LL Bean. I purchased a heavy cotton hoodie. I had a hoodie like that when I ran Cross Country in high school. We had ancient, heavily washed sweat suits that looked like crap. They were ugly, but they were nice and warm. When other runners were freezing in the late fall, we were warm. I missed my high school sweats. Filson is selling a really heavy cotton fleece hoodie, just like the one I wore in high school, so I had to have it. It's not ugly / worn for several decades by runners in my school. I also bought a henley shirt, that got great reviews. The only downside to Filson's is that it is very expensive, compared to places like REI, LL Bean and (my favorite) Hilton's Tent City. Service: the workers really know their products. The lady who sold me the henley gave me laundering advise (for the first time you wash it, line dry / dry flat / don't put it in the dryer). As a textile designer, I know how to properly care for garments, but I really appreciated that She knew this and made sure I knew. Kudos! As The Terminator said, "I'll be back..." read more

I like Filson as a brand. I think they have cool unique high quality products. I've purchased the brand before from its store in Seattle. Last night I checked out the new location in the Seaport. I was on the phone with my headphones in but said hello when I walked in (it's a little hard to tell who is working there when you first enter the store). I began to browse, I was talking on the phone about being in the store and how I was shopping for my father. The store salesperson then headed over to the area of the store where I was. As is normal, I believe, I picked up items I thought were interesting as I browsed. Then I noticed the salesperson was following me. There were at least 3 other customers in the store, but the salesperson seemed to be watching me. I left about 90 seconds after realizing that he was following me. I have money to spend, and i won't be made to feel like a criminal while I shop. I still like Filson, just wont be back to this location. I was looking for an item that was out of stock almost everywhere nationwide. The folks at the Seaport store called around all over, and helped me get the item from Portland. They were very helpful and on brand with Filson's well-known, outstanding customer service. If I wasn't a loyal customer before, I sure am now. Also, the products are great. I received a $50 gift certificate to Filson before really knowing about the brand. I headed to their Seaport store to see what Filson was all about and was greeted promptly by friendly associates who explained to me about their (AWESOME) outdoor lifestyle design concepts and the durability and quality of their clothing and bags. There really is something to say about their quality - the bags seemed to be made with super thick canvas and very high quality leather. It's an elevated product line that is worth the money. I had two associates helping me out the entire time and was blown away by how knowledgeable and friendly they were. I ended up with an awesome backpack that I'm sure will last me a lifetime (Filson is so confident in their products that they back them with a lifetime warranty, too!). They even monogrammed it with my initials for free. Just a wicked cool brand that made me into a loyal customer. Thanks, Filson! read more
