They also tend to leave the door open even though many people stand outside the 7-11 next door and smoke - the resulting smell inside the restaurant is strong. Was in the mood for some yummy French toast, we found this place. Located in a strip mall, not in a touristy area. We arrived and the AC was blasting. I get having it nice and cool inside for people especially if it's hot and humid outside. It was neither and I was a frozen popsicle! If there's fresh squeezed Orange juice, I always have to get it. Hubs tried the Pomegranate tea. It was not overly sweet or tart. The F&G French toast was delicious! Not overly sweet, whipped butter was perfect. Bacon was perfectly cooked. Came here on a Saturday after 12pm and there were seats available! There were 3 other parties of 3pax dining in addition to us. There was 4-tops around the perimeter of the room, and a large farm table in the middle. One server out front, taking orders, answering the phone, bringing food to the table. I'm wondering how they work the room when it's jamming during a breakfast rush. Definitely kid-friendly in that they brought out kid's utensils and a cup with straw for our friend's little one. We didn't expect that and appreciated the gesture. We ordered a smoked salmon sandwich and croissant scrambled eggs sandwich. That smoked salmon sandwich was pleasantly surprising with pickled beets! We arrived on a Sunday morning at 9:45 and found the restaurant to only have two tables taken. Thankfully there was no wait for us and we're able to sit immediately. The waitress came to take our drink orders. We got the iced tea, butterfly pea lemonade, and an iced oat Mac nut latte. It took a bit to get our drinks. The butterfly pea lemonade was good. The iced oat Mac nut latte was good too. We ordered a couple of items off the menu: homemade granola, crispy smashed potatoes, corn fritters, steak poutine fries, and their new skillet baked Brie with a side of bacon. We we're a little disappointed that the mashed potatoes weren't actually smashed and more like quartered. The corn fritters were overdone and quite tough (almost rock hard) to chew. The steak poutine fries were great, but it was almost like they came with slivers of meat instead of actual pieces of steak. The skillet baked brie was very spiced and had lots of raisins and cherries.Something if you're not into that would be the deciding factor in not getting this dish. I wish it came with more bread because I'm pretty sure we had half the brie gone when finishing all of the bread. I felt like this place had a really cute interior and aesthetically looking food, but that was pretty much the end of everything good about this place. For the price, I feel like we could've been in Waikiki with a beautiful view and better parking. Tried this place with a few friends post hike and everything we ordered tasted delicious! I ordered a hot latte with honey and the Big Breakie. My friends ordered: - Matcha latte and Veggie Style House Toasties - Coconut shaken iced tea and the big breakie The food dishes not only looked very aesthetically pleasing but also tasted good and filling! We've been frequenting this establishment since their opening almost 2 years ago and have enjoyed excellent breakfasts, brunches, and also had them host Ohana lunch after our son's USAF commissioning. So we were delighted to find out that Chefs Ed and Yim had begun a dinner service a few weeks ago and have found ourselves at their tables a number of times since opening night. Of particular value is their Happy Hour menu with portions well beyond the price. While the Poutine steak fries, Wagyu sliders and Bao are enough to hit the spot, we often end up getting their Blistered shishitos and either the Corn fritters or Crispy smashed potatoes just to get that crunch. If you've got a bottomless stomach then the Steak frites, Blackened ahi, and (killer!) F&G burger will have you coming back. Sometimes we'll just drop in for dessert: Tiramisu (legit) and their Lilikoi Creme Brûlée then switch (you know dakine). They do tend to run out of the Tiramisu as it's just that good, so we've subbed for Dark chocolate brownie skillet and didn't leave disappointed. This is a local business run by a family with a storied culinary pedigree and it shows in every beautiful dish and every delicious bite. Best Brunch spot ever! So cute inside, great versatile menu, and delicious food! We got the roasted mushroom baked eggs toastie (tasted like a shakshuka which I love!) and the brunchie wagyu burger which was yummy and savory. Very late post before end of year... F&G is a lovely little spot for Breakfast, lunch, or brunch in the McCully Shopping Center, decorated with festive touches of seasonal decor. Since it was October there were bats on the mirrored walls and floral bouquets in pumpkins turned into vases. Perfect for us gals to celebrate our girlfriend's bday but of course guys can enjoy it too. As is often the case, I had a hard time deciding but ended up going with the Ocean (smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and sour cream). It was pretty good/ not bad, a little in the soft side for me. A friend got a Mocha Coffee drink that looked so good two of us copied!! It was basically dessert in a glass! I was stoked they could use almond or oat milk so I didn't have to take Lactaid! Yum!! We opted for a healthy breakfast (compared to our other days of having full breakfast with eggs, potato and meat) today and chose Fig and Ginger. Major plus was that there was no line to start with. It is located downstairs in a strip mall and ample parking. Inside is bright and inviting, you get seated and order the food to your server. I opted for the avocado toast with eggplant chutney, and my hubby ordered their açaí bowl. Both entrees were amazing, fresh and tasted wonderful. The eggplant chutney was a great touch to the toast and brought out great flavor to the toast, the two poached eggs on top brought everything together and made it a complete meal for me. We ordered chia seed pudding, I got a prosciutto/tomato toast and my husband ordered an avocado toast with eggs on top! I honestly could have eaten like 4 servings of what we ordered, it was so fresh and so tasty!! I strongly contemplated whether or not I should get one to go, though soft cooked eggs may not have been the best choice to walk 20min back to our hotel in 80 degree weather! Although I love their food, I was a little disappointed when I had made a phone order in advance for their large charcuterie board for my friend's bridal shower. The girl took down my name and credit card so I figured I'd be good to go. Unfortunately on the day that I picked up, my order was not ready (I think they may have forgotten our order) which sucked cause my friend and I were on a time crunch to get to our destination and set up the bridal shower. I really like picking up the charcuterie board because it's a great item to bring to a potluck or party. It's even great for a girl's night in! ;D The only thing I don't like is the pickup times they offer. They only allow you to select times between 12:00PM to 2:00 PM. For me this can be an inconvenience because I want to pick it up after I finish work. F&G Signature Grazing Board ($70). This board includes 3 Types of Cheeses, 2 Types of Meat, Fresh Fruits, Olives, Nuts, Figs, Fruit Jam, Truffle Honey, and Crackers. They don't offer coffee refills and I would recommend asking for a coffee mug instead of the cup it comes in as it is pipping hot and will burn your fingers (there cup had no handle). The restaurant does get loud it has a nice ambiance and definitely caters to those Instagram worthy posts. But again if youre coming for brunch with a large family 6+ call ahead and try getting a table. If you're expecting to get full off the meal depending on how hungry you are I doubt it's possible.
