Chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sourdough toast! Yummmmm!!!

Can't really call this place a hole in the wall cause everyone in, and around San Leandro knows about it! BUT it's a tight little hole in the wall spot that's been there forever! Greatest little homestyle breakfast food! Everything is done right! The service is excellent and it's been family owned forever! Coffee is non-stop refill and they're SUPER attentive and friendly! My go to is the chicken fried steak and eggs! This NEVER fails! The teriyaki chicken over rice breakfast is also a really known option that is off da chain! Their chili-cheese omelette is really solid too! Wifey always gets da grits! SO good! And her fav is the french toast! You can't really go wrong with whatever you order here! The only mistake you can make is by NOT going! The place is small and tight, so be prepared to wait! But it's worth it!!!

Fifth Wheel has been on my list to try since I moved to the area two years ago. I never stopped by before because they don't really have their own parking and it's mostly street parking. From the pictures, it also looked pretty small inside. I love classic diner-style breakfast spots, and this place definitely fits the bill. My partner and I finally decided to try it on a Monday. We only waited about five minutes before getting a table, which was nice. From what I could tell, it seems like the restaurant is owned by a Korean family since they offer rice as a side and have a Korean pork dish on the menu. I ordered hot links, eggs over medium, sourdough toast, and hashbrowns extra crispy. The food took a little while, but it was worth the wait. Every time I ask for extra crispy hashbrowns, they're either just crispy on the outside or still soggy in the middle. Here, they were crispy all the way through, and I was so satisfied. The hot links were good but could have been a bit spicier. Overall, I was really happy with my meal and can't wait to come back to try something else.

This place is small and outdated, the parking sucks, but it's no frills, warm service, and family owned that made this place a gem to dine at. I took a random day off to take Gavin to the zoo, my last attempt of doing something fun before the school year starts. We came when it wasn't busy, luckily but based on what I witnessed during our meal there are a lot of regulars that go in and out - both patrons and people running the restaurant were personable like they have known each other for years. It was nice to be around that positive and friendly atmosphere. Gavin ordered the hamburger patty and I ordered the chicken apple sausage omelette. They were out of cottage cheese, so I opted for hash browns instead. Food did not take long to come out. Don't think we will be in the East Bay anytime soon, but would recommend this place for its simple menu and service.

Solid breakfast/burger place. It's been around forever and the food is the reason why. Everything is cooked on a grill with love. The service is warm, friendly, and prompt. They close at 2pm so get there early.

DELICIOUS Korean BBQ pork with crispy hash browns and over hard eggs, cooked exactly the way I ordered them

This is a ridiculously charming hidden gem! I was sooo pleasantly surprised when a friend took me to this very unsuspecting spot. The service and staff were great and You will not be leaving here hungry. Im not a huge fan of breakfast foods or even really eating in the morning, so getting to mix up the traditional greasy spoon breaky with the tastiest Korean bbq pork I've had in a while made for the perfect plot twist. I'll be back, and bringing others.

Eggs, bacon, and pancakes, hard to go wrong with this!

This is a generous three mostly because the people were so nice. Seems like a family owned business. The place is teeny tiny, four tables and a handful of counter seats. It's cluttered. They have a couple of folding chairs crammed up against a couple of the tables to accommodate additional seating. They thoughtfully put a curtain to block the door for people sitting at the table. That's right there, unfortunately not the case for the bathroom, but I'm not sure what they could do there because it's so small. Menu is more or less standard diner, breakfast and lunch fare with a couple of random Korean specialties thrown in like kimchi and barbecue. Service was extremely friendly and they were on top of it with refilling our drinks and checking on us. My husband had pancakes and eggs, which were fine, although the eggs got kind of cold fast because they don't pre-warm the plates. So just eat your eggs first. I I ordered a veggie omelette and it was just too greasy for me and had clearly been cooked in meat juice, which wasn't what I wanted. I also had the hashbrowns, which were also very greasy, but kind of delicious and that's all I ate. And then I regretted it later. Toast was fine, they put a lot of butter on it. This is definitely not the place to go if you're on a diet. If you don't mind a little grease, and you're not a vegetarian, you should check it out.

Chicken teriyaki breakfast is soooooo good.

If you live in the east Bay, then chances are you know this historic spot. I've been going to the fifth wheel for breakfast for the last 30 years. This is easily my favorite breakfast spot in the Bay Area. I get the chicken teriyaki breakfast with hashbrowns extra crispy eggs over easy with either sourdough toast or an English muffin. I was so hungry that I forgot to take pics on this visit so I will leave you a picture of my empty plate lol. 10 out of 10 every time. The space is pretty small and probably only accommodates 30 people max at a time . They are only open on weekdays until 1:30 PM. Highly recommended!

The food was delicious and very tasty. The service was excellent and they're very friendly. The place is small, first come first serve, but it feels homey! Our new spot to go too!!!

This inconspicuous, blue-collar cafe is easy to pass by because it's right in the middle of a residential area. It must be a local favorite because it became packed right after I arrived. People were willing to wait! A line formed outside. The vibe of the place felt like... the marriage of a mini, old-school, truck stop diner and a Studio Ghibli film cafe. This place has a maximalist yet extremely functional style of decor that I found fairly charming. Stuff was everywhere... but it was cute clutter- if you can appreciate, or even romanticize, the mundane. But the interior looked totally clean, so it didn't really have the Hoarders vibes. The owners are a Mongolian couple (family?), who were delightful! Super warm and just the right amount of attentive. The food was enormous and very tasty. It was piping hot, fresh, and flavorful. And the drip coffee wasn't bad at all. I'll be back when in the neighborhood, for sure.

This was my second time here and the food was just as great as I remembered it being the first time around. The spicy pork has a good kick but isn't too spicy and has a great flavor along with the caramelized onions. The country fried steak and hash browns looked nicely crisped. The restaurant is an old school diner and is a little small. We waited for 20 minutes on a Saturday morning, but the waitresses are super sweet were always coming back to refill my coffee.

While waiting for our car to be worked on at the Nissan dealership, we decided to get breakfast at this diner that was located deep in residential neighborhood where there were no other restaurants within 3 miles of this place. But for it to still be in business since the 1950s, they must be doing something right. Not aesthetically pleasing on the outside and very cramped in the inside but this family owned restaurant serves up some delicious wholesome food. Food comes to you quick, as quick as 7 minutes we got our food. The servers make sure that your coffee is topped off often don't need to ask and they even give you a cup to take a cup to go too. I noticed this place gets busy quick and you'll have to wait outside to wait for your table if you don't get here early. Basic breakfast options here but still quite good and can't complain on the portions either. I love that they option for white or brown rice if you don't hash browns or grits. Fifth Wheel is worth a try.

I like to look for new spins on lattes to see what barista's are whipping up to make things unique. I came in thinking I was going to get a basic latte, but the Borgia Mocha caught my eye! I asked the cashier if it was a good choice and she recommended it. I was a little unsure how the two would blend and how much orange they would use in it, but it came out amazing! Honestly probably one of the top 10 unique mocha's I have tried and it was delicious! I loved the burst of refreshing orange that complimented the chocolate. The flavors danced on my tastebuds like two separate flavors that blended together as one. Each holding their own note that added value to the drink making it unique. I was instantly impressed and wish I found this on more menus! A classic mocha with a refreshing twist of orange was a pleasant surprise! I'm so glad I stopped in for a pick me up! I also loved all the art on the large walls and there looked to be plenty of tables and seating for people to eat and work at.

Was meeting up with a friend from Berkeley and he found this spot in between the both of us. Pros and cons! + The coffee - holy shit. Got a cortado. And drank it without sugar it was so good. A touch of bitter (it's coffee - duh!) but so smooth, almost nutty but buttery at the same time. + Got a chicken salad sandwich. It came stacked HIGH with hints of sweetness and curry. Freshest produce. Honestly, I was hungry but could only eat half of it, it was so big. + Friend got a warmed cinnamon bun. Incredible. Yeasty, chewy almost crisp on the outside but pillowy soft on the inside. + Wide open space inside -- high ceilings, one big central area. Not tucked away spaces -- which might or might not match your preference. + Perfect amount of coffeehouse buzz. Music playing lowish in the background and lots of conversations. Just enough to quell my ADHD tendencies. * Honestly can't think of any negatives. Prices are a bit high but happy to pay it for such a quality experience. I think my cortado was decently priced -- maybe $6 or so? Sandwich was $18 or so but done really well and came with a bowl of soup (chips, fruit, and something else was an option instead of soup, but tomato bisque with a sandwich? Divine.) - An hour away from where I live but if you live anywhere East Bay, my curse is your blessing ;-)
