Margaritas and complimentary after dinner shot of cuaranta y tres

Absolutely my favorite Mexican restaurant. Portions are good and food is excellent. Fresh, flavorful and filling. I usually get the number two or number 3 combos - both come with enchiladas and either a chimichanga or chili relleno. The refried beans come with perfect crispy cheese and the rice is light and fluffy. Chips are great and the salsa is perfectly mixed with lots of cilantro. Also something about this sour cream is to die for. The guacamole is creamy and delicious. And lastly, the margaritas are big and tasty. They even serve pitchers and when you order one, you are gifted a shot per person of Cuaranta y Tres at the end - a lovely sweet liquor to end the meal. Me and my friends started coming here when we went to Eastern over a decade ago and still make the trip from Manchester regularly for a great meal and great service. Go try it out!

Went here for my birthday. Staff was super friendly and sang happy birthday to me. The food was great, just a little pricey. portions were good, I had some to take home. The drinks were very strong, which could be a good thing or a bad thing! The environment was super cute and friendly for all ages. The bar was also very nice!

My family and I have been going to this restaurant for years! It's our favorite Mexican food by far. The staff is always incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is reminiscent of rural Mexico. When restaurants closed due to COVID-19, I was missing my favorite food. I was so happy to hear they were doing takeout. They are being incredibly mindful of social distancing and sanitizing everything as often as possible. We've gotten takeout from them several times since restaurants became takeout only. It's consistently delicious! I always order the rice and beans with no cheese, and my boyfriend always gets the vegetarian plate. We also get a side of chips, salsa, and guacamole. The portions are huge! The chips come in a big paper bag that is nearly filled (it's probably the same amount of chips you'd get if you bought a bag from the store). We've never been able to finish off all of the chips in one sitting. The salsa and guacamole also come in large portions. The beans and rice are perfectly spiced. Through COVID-19 and when things (hopefully) return to normal, we'll continue to support this amazing restaurant!

Homemade? thin tortilla chips and homemade? thin salsa. Cilantro plays first and foremost in the salsa.

I'm a fan of big flavors, seasoning, and spicy Mexican food. All of which you won't find here. Yet it's still good. I'll agree with another Yelper here. The food is bland, compared to other Mexican restaurants. But it's not completely bland. There is one, maybe two spices in the hamburger meat and the shredded beef. It's just the simple flavors of each ingredient combined together to make each item. It doesn't make it bad. It makes it different. I know the perfect patron for this place, one that would give it 5 stars. A person who doesn't like Mexican food because it's too spicy. This would be their place. We started with the chips and salsa which they delivered without our asking. Chips were crispy and salsa was fresh. Very liquidy. You're gonna have to be careful not to make a mess. Cilantro is the foremost flavor but not overpowering (I'm really starting to like cilantro more and more). Our appetizer of beef taquitos came next. There are 3 to an order. They are folded over like a taco, just with a smaller shell and contain shredded beef and topped with lettuce, sour cream, and chopped tomatoes. Very tasty (slightly smoky flavor on the meat). Would be more reasonable price if they added another taquito or dropped the price a dollar or more. Between my wife and I (combo #1 and #4) we had a taco, burrito, and cheese enchilada (posted pictures here on the site). The tacos must immediately be removed from your plate. Better yet, ask for them on a separate plate. Or ask for a side plate to put them on when they get there or you're going to be eating a taco sandwich since the bottom will be steamed to death by the rice. Tacos are made up of a simple hamburger meat (very very slightly seasoned), lettuce, and cheese. The meat is juicy, lettuce crisp/fresh, cheese moist and corn tortilla shell crunchy (although I don't think it's homemade). The tiny burrito was filled with shredded beef, wrapped in a CORN tortilla and topped with a red sauce (mildest I've ever had). Simple yet good. The cheese enchilada was also wrapped in a corn tortilla and stuffed with mostly if not only white cheese and topped with the same red sauce. Simple yet good. I'm always VERY happy when the beans are moist/creamy and not like some paste you'd use to make an Adobe mud hut. The rice was fluffy rather than clumpy like, so no making fun of it saying it would be good for Mexican Sushi. The food here tastes fresh, simple and clean. Not lost in spices but very close to bland for me. I'd give it 3 stars if it weren't for the homemade salsa which I pour over everything to make it more to my liking. But a person like my sister that can't even hardly stand black pepper would L O V E this place.

Here with the High school swim team. VERY disappointed! Food did not come out evenly. Half the table is still waiting 45 minutes into the meal. Ordered a beef burrito that was stringy and chewy. Rice tasted like detergent, and the beans were like mush.

Been here twice on a Sunday, never seen it crowded, not even close . Cool looking Mexican decor inside . Real Mexican people work here ( well at least they look authentic. not that it matters. Lol) The food is good. They have a sweet liquor called 43.

Camarones rellenos. Delicious and not greasy at all!

Solidly average Mexican fare. The verde chicken enchiladas were fine. Nothing special. Drinks were small and pricey.

They had snacks to buy at the register too. We all sat down for lunch and they were quick to attend. Rough prices: the birria tacos (4 tacos) were about $18. The other tacos ranged from $4.50-5.50/taco. Honestly was not bad of a price considering how much protein was stacked into them. Two others at the table had gotten burritos with mushrooms instead of meat, and those burritos were comically huge in size. I think the prices are definitely worth the size and quality of the food! The tacos were absolutely delicious! The birria meat was not dry without the consommé! They were very generous with how much filling it got. The carne taco was much better than the chicken one but both were very very good. Nothing in the meal was dry or felt like it's been sitting out for a while. The food is definitely made-to-order! No one at the table had any complaints, only compliments! Hopefully they get much more foot traffic; for lunch time it was not super busy, just a small family and a singular customer. I would recommend this place, very homey feeling too!

TC is located in the heart of the main drag in Willimantic. It's not fancy. It's part market. Part takeout. And there's functional seating for maybe up to about 15 people. But I wouldn't call it comfortable. After looking at the menu and what was going on at some of the tables, I ordered a pastor taco, a shredded lamb taco and a Mango Guava Agua Fresca for takeout. The tacos were traditional in that the meats were served with cilantro, onions, a lime, red salsa and green salsa on corn tortillas. The pastor was very tasty and tender. The serving size of the pastor was substantial. The lamb had good shredded texture and moisture. Almost like lamb carnitas. It needed more salt though. Both salsas were spicy, but good. I don't know if the the tortillas were made in house because they were too busy to ask. They seemed like they probably were though. I ordered the Mango Guava Agua Fresca after seeing it on so many tables. There were so many apparently knowledgeable Mexican diners there, I figured they knew something I didn't know. They did. It was delicious and had a substantially to it. If you need a fancier place to eat and don't live in the area for takeout, TC might not be your first choice. I don't need a fancy place. And I loved it. 4.5 Stars

I recently started a deep dive of highly rated taco places in Willimantic, and A Mano Taco Shop is…read moreone of those places. A Mano has a different POV than the other Willimantic places I've tried so far. While the other taquerias I've tried are more or less traditional (Pastor, Bistec, etc. with cilantro, onions and a few other classic toppings), A Mano has a more modern and creative take on tacos. In terms of the Willimantic spots, A Mano is the most modern in terms of art and the space, which includes outside tables on a wood deck out front, and at least one small inside table. I'm not sure if they had additional seating in a different room or upstairs, but that's possible given the building design. I suspect they have a robust takeout business as well. I ordered a Pastor Taco, and a Sweet Potato Black Bean Taco. The corn tortillas were fresh made and very good. The tacos arrived with the small round tortillas mostly flat and side by side in a takeout container, and the toppings artfully displayed on top. The toppings were slightly different for each taco. The pastor taco had marinated pork, pineapple chunks, micro greens, and avocado based salsa. I ordered a Pastor taco at each Willimantic place. A Mano was the only one so far to feature pineapple chunks, which I really like for Pastor tacos. This sweetness was important for balancing the saltiness from the pastor. Without that sweetness, the flavors would have been out of balance. The pastor was tender. The avocado salsa was good. I like the use of microgreens for the color, shape and fresh flavor it brings. A definite way to distinguish your taco. I ordered the sweet potato black bean taco because I've never seen it on a menu and I was intrigued. I was expecting the sweet potatoes and black beans to be in pieces, but the presentation was actually puréed or at least stewed to a smooth texture. This taco was topped with the same micro greens and avocado salsa, but it had pickled red onions. This taco was well executed and looked great, but if I had known it was going to be puréed, I probably would have gone a different direction just based on personal preference. I like that A Mano has different toppings for different tacos. In addition to the above toppings, I noticed corn, cilantro, slaw, mango and more as different toppings on certain tacos. A Mano's menu features other cool things like Birria Ramen, Street Corn, loaded fries, churros, flan. It's definitely the type of menu you'd like to explore. Service was very friendly. Both service and the atmosphere are a factor in my 4.5 Star rating, which rounds up to 5 Stars. If I was just rating the tacos, the score would be 4.25 Stars.
