    Cooler with beverages

Taqueria Cordoba has been on my list of restaurants to try in Willimantic for a while. This restaurant does a very brisk takeout business and it was time to find out why. I visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my mother-in-law. We both ordered Taco Special tacos which is a 50 cent up charge from the basic tacos, but includes all of the fixings one wants on a taco: cheese, lettuce, tomato, diced onions, cilantro, avocado. I had a taco with lamb and one with steak. My mother-in-law had pork and chicken as her meat choices. We both found the meat to be tasty yet covered in grease that dripped from our tacos and all over our hands. Overall, this restaurant is small. When you walk in there is a counter to the immediate left that has takeout menus and the register. Cash and credit cards are accepted. There is a very cluttered area next to the register counter that looks like additional storage for dry goods and other items. There are a total of six tables. Four four tops and two six tops. Towards the back of the dining area are two coolers. The cooler on the left has beverages. The cooler on the right appeared to contain food items for sale. Beyond the coolers are the kitchen to the left and bathrooms to the right. We had an overall pleasant experience with the staff and dining-in at Cordoba's. I would recommend others give the food here a try.

I was going to gate keep this place because it is literally the best place to eat mexican food in Willimantic & the restaurant is always packed with the locals. Visit this restaurant! You'll never regret it! + $5 large horchata is incredibly huge and literally the best horchata you will ever have in your life (at least it was the best for me)!!

Tried Cordoba for the first time after passing by hundred of times. It is just take out at the moment, I am not sure if they will have table sitting after COVID. We ordered three different dishes: steak tacos, which came with onions, cilantro, and fresh salsa. My companion ordered a large chicken sope, súper delicioso. Also a yummy chorizo quesadilla. Prices are very reasonable and the people are warm and friendly.

This was a decent place to get lunch. It seems a bit understaffed, because when I walked in there was no one there and I had to wait a couple minutes for help. The food was good, though. I enjoyed my quesadilla (maybe could have used slightly more flavor, but it was still enjoyable) and the portion sizes here are pretty big. I got a small quesadilla and it was definitely very filling. My brother got a burrito and it was HUGE. Usually burritos are finger food, but this needed a fork and knife.

Gave this place a try after a recommendation and was nothing but satisfied! The quesabirria tacos were outstanding and have yet to be rivaled, had to come back and get them again soon after. The regular tacos are also very good as well! Horchata was the perfect addition and well priced for only $5 for a large. The food price is higher than other Taquerias in the area and expect a little of a wait for your food but is worth the wait in my opinion.

A while ago, I had seen TLR listed as a best taco in CT contender on one or more internet and/or media lists. An interesting thing happened in all those years. More and more authentic taquerias started opening in CT. Also, Willimantic itself became a known hot spot for tacos and Mexican food in general. So much so, that people would say "I have a taco spot for you in Willimantic." I was ready for them to say Tacos La Rosa, and sometimes, it would be a different place. I recently started a deep dive on the Willimantic taco scene. I'm not finished yet, but I can say the following based upon my extensive taqueria visits across CT in the past few years. Tacos La Rosa, makes a traditional style taco, and TLR is in the top tier of CT authentic taquerias. As you stand in the TLR parking lot, you can see the buildings of Eastern Connecticut State University. Inside, if you took all of the Mexican decor away, the restaurant sort of looks like an old school pizza joint. There's a black and white checkered floor. Brick walls. Open kitchen. Solid tan tables that are bolted to the floor or wall, and red benches snuggly positioned on both sides. I ordered three tacos at the Counter. Pastor. Bistec. And Chorizo con jalapeno. The person who helped me spoke very good English, but I'm not sure that we perfectly understood each other. He asked me if I wanted everything on the tacos. I wasn't sure what that meant, but I have a rule, that if a place asks me if I want everything, I say yes because I assume that's how they intend it. So the tacos each came with avocado, lettuce, queso fresco, tomato, cilantro and onion. Red salsa, lime and green salsa came on the side. Each taco had a substantial house made corn tortilla that held its structure despite all the filling. The tortilla was a cut or two above average. The pastor and the chorizo were about as good as you'll find in CT. The Bistec was pretty good, but didn't stand out. The chorizo had a sliced or chopped sort of texture rather than the crumbled chorizo you sometimes see. It was flavorful and manageably spicy. The pastor consisted of tender, saucy-red pork chunks. They tasted great. There were no pineapple chunks like you often get. I'm not sure that the toppings brought anything to the pastor, but they worked nicely for the chorizo and Bistec. The salsas were authentic and spicy. Throughout my time in Willimantic, I observed a robust Mexican population that was supporting these authentic Mexican restaurants. This was definitely the case at Tacos La Rosa. I'm glad I finally made it to Tacos La Rosa and I'm happy to see that their outstanding reputation is deserved. 4.5 Stars

Stopped in for Cinco de Mayo today to try this restaurant out…read more Let me say upfront I'm not a guacamole person so can't report on how good it was. Did ask for chips and salsa, not available. Only have chips and guacamole. Instead they did bring me chips with two different sauces they put on the food. One a little spicy and the other having more intense heat. Both were good and coated the chips once dipped. The chips, however, are very hard triangles clearly made in house. Appear to be made from soft tortillas which make them thicker than what you would expect a chip to be. As I'd never been there I decided to try a couple of things. I ordered the tacos, careful with the pricing here. The menu says 4 tacos and the price shown is $3.75, that's for one. Get the four and it's $15. Think the menu needs to be revised! I also ordered the burrito which came with a pile of lettuce topped with sliced tomatoes. The burrito arrived first and was huge. A very large, probably the largest wrap I've seen held a good amount of rice and shredded beef but where were the beans? Couldn't find a bean in the mix. The shell itself was folded over so much that I finally cut the burrito open and are the contents. The beef was okay, just very dry and having the refried beans would have helped. The tacos arrived with beef and onions in a very soft taco shell. Menu says it comes with radishes and I guess those were mixed in with the onions but I couldn't taste them. Again the meat, same as the burrito, was very dry and it was good I had sauce left over from the chips to put on top of it. I gave up on eating the taco shell and just ate the beef and onions. With the shell it really made the whole meal too dry. Did end up having two cokes to get everything down. They offer both fine in and takeout and the place does look more like a takeout place. Seating consists of a few tables and a number of booths. They do have a bar and serve liquor. Soft drinks appear to be in cans and bottles. There is also a pool table in the front of the restaurant, didn't see pool sticks or balls so don't know if it's used at all. I would guess it is with the equipment kept elsewhere. I was really looking forward to trying out this place as it's local and family owned but I'm not sure I'll be going back anytime soon.

A Mano has a different POV than the other Willimantic places I've tried so far. While the other taquerias I've tried are more or less traditional (Pastor, Bistec, etc. with cilantro, onions and a few other classic toppings), A Mano has a more modern and creative take on tacos. In terms of the Willimantic spots, A Mano is the most modern in terms of art and the space, which includes outside tables on a wood deck out front, and at least one small inside table. I'm not sure if they had additional seating in a different room or upstairs, but that's possible given the building design. I suspect they have a robust takeout business as well. I ordered a Pastor Taco, and a Sweet Potato Black Bean Taco. The corn tortillas were fresh made and very good. The tacos arrived with the small round tortillas mostly flat and side by side in a takeout container, and the toppings artfully displayed on top. The toppings were slightly different for each taco. The pastor taco had marinated pork, pineapple chunks, micro greens, and avocado based salsa. I ordered a Pastor taco at each Willimantic place. A Mano was the only one so far to feature pineapple chunks, which I really like for Pastor tacos. This sweetness was important for balancing the saltiness from the pastor. Without that sweetness, the flavors would have been out of balance. The pastor was tender. The avocado salsa was good. I like the use of microgreens for the color, shape and fresh flavor it brings. A definite way to distinguish your taco. I ordered the sweet potato black bean taco because I've never seen it on a menu and I was intrigued. I was expecting the sweet potatoes and black beans to be in pieces, but the presentation was actually puréed or at least stewed to a smooth texture. This taco was topped with the same micro greens and avocado salsa, but it had pickled red onions. This taco was well executed and looked great, but if I had known it was going to be puréed, I probably would have gone a different direction just based on personal preference. I like that A Mano has different toppings for different tacos. In addition to the above toppings, I noticed corn, cilantro, slaw, mango and more as different toppings on certain tacos. A Mano's menu features other cool things like Birria Ramen, Street Corn, loaded fries, churros, flan. It's definitely the type of menu you'd like to explore. Service was very friendly. Both service and the atmosphere are a factor in my 4.5 Star rating, which rounds up to 5 Stars. If I was just rating the tacos, the score would be 4.25 Stars.
