Fresh back to the area and looking for my mexican food fix after being down south. This is not the place to itch that scratch. The rice served has peas, if you were looking for an American pot pie style of a side this is your place! Given I was seeking Mexican food, this is not it. Their chorizo tasted as if they bought some discounted smoked baloney from the local big box grocer. $14 for 6 oz maragritas and the server didn't bat an eye when we requested the check with full plates in front of us. While the atmosphere is cute, and they seem to have ample parking these are truly their most redeeming attributes. read more

With fantastic margarita deals almost every day of the week and delicious food, coyote Flaco is a great place for dinner and I'm sad that it took me so long to finally visit. The margaritas were fantastic and the chips and salsa were both very good as well. I also really liked my enchiladas, the guacamole was super fresh and the red sauce on the enchiladas was super flavorful. The service was also fantastic, everything came out quickly our server was very nice. read more

We arrived en masse, a group of 6 at 7:30, but had no problem being swiftly served. The chips arrived swiftly and kept coming, with a tasty salsa. A decent beer selection was on offer, as well as mixed drinks. Our vegan found a meal to his liking, and we all enjoyed some of the best Mexican food I've enjoyed since I left Texas. A grand quesadilla, large burrito, lovely taco salad, delicious enchiladas- I'll be back! read more

Never had anything bad here. I don't typically love ground beef but here I order it almost every time for my choice of protein. If you like any of their house margaritas you can get those in a pitcher which saves some money if your group would drink at least 4 margaritas. The specialty margaritas only come in single servings but the jalapeno one is really good. The empanada appetizer comes with 2, wish it came with like 10. It's served with some sort of chipotle sauce that I keep to use with my meal. The chimichangas are great, not too big. The combo charro comes with a chimi and an enchilada suiza (you can pick your protein for each.) I was skeptical about the enchiladas because I don't typically like soft corn tortillas (I prefer flour) but this enchilada was great and the tortilla was actually good and not a funky texture. The quesadilla has Oaxaca cheese and I love this cheese so much that I think about it a lot in my free time . I get this with ground beef which makes it a messy quesadilla but the combination of the ground beef with the Oaxaca cheese... Amazing. We've always had great servers here and the owners are awesome. It's rare that we have a wait to be seated but they do now take online reservations to eliminate that issue. My only complaint is that they're closed on Sundays. read more

Food was ok. Seemed as though the bartenders were more interested in their friends sitting at the bar than actually being attentive to the rest of us. read more

This was our first time here, but it won't be the last! The food and drinks outstanding. I had the three enchiladas combo, and my wife had the chile relleno. I will say that all three of my enchiladas were excellent, but my favorite was the steak with the mole sauce. It was the BEST mole sauce I've ever had! We both got the "hand shaken" margarita's, which were so good we both had two. I've been going to Chuck's/Margarita's in Mansfield since the 70's, but I think we'll be going to Coyote Flaco a lot more often now! Sorry read more

Unbelievably awesome food, service and great prices!!! They have wonderful specials The margaritas are fantastic!

I honestly loved this place. I always come anytime I'm in town and I never regret it. The service is absolutely amazing, the staff is so kind. And the food of course is perfect! 100% recommend. read more

Don't waste your money. Chile Rellenos are tasteless, have no batter coating and are full of unseasoned meat. Rice is basically boxed rice. If you're craving Mexican go to Taco Bell you'll get a more authentic experience. read more

Great place, not particularly close to anything but we go here a few times a year. I always get the same- carne a la tampquena -so good! Ultimate Margaritas are delicious and pack a punch. Good service, chips and tangy salss. read more

This is hands down the best mexican restaurant in CT. Every single member of the staff delivers top notch service. The food stands out for being fresher, healthier, and tastier. The drinks are excellent and extremely consistent, which is a relief for anyone that has visited nearby Cinco De Mayo or Chucks Margaritas. The ambience is perfect, I can't decide if I prefer sitting by the pellet stove in the winter or outside on the deck in the summer. My Favorites? Gambas Al Ajillo, Tamal, and Enchilads Oaxaca with Pork. Do yourself a favor: Drive right by Chucks and Cinco De Mayo. Pull into Coyote Flaco and enjoy! You'll be glad you did. read more

Went there yesterday for dinner and was sat at a table next to a large party. We waited for about ten minutes and were not acknowledged, so I went to the host and informed them of the situation. When the server came over, they said, "I didn't see you." No apology, almost defensive. When placing our order, the appetizer I wanted was no longer available, and when I asked what else they were out of, I was told a few items, and when I asked if there was anything else, they added a couple more things. No apologies for this either. After placing our order, the server came around with our beverages, but went to the table next to us and instead of dropping them off to us first, asked the table about desserts and told them about items that they were out of. The food came out pretty quickly, but the meals were switched. I wound up with chorizo, my guest wound up with pork. The server never asked if we wanted anything else, and just dropped off the check. As we were leaving, I told the host about the experience and they stated that, "they were one of their best servers." Also, became defensive, and when I was walking out the door, they said things under their breath. I have been in the restaurant industry for over thirty years, and have never made a complaint about any restaurant, but was really disappointed with this whole dining experience. read more

This is an ok restaurant. The food had some flavour and I thought "Ok I don't mind" but the service was horrible. I could've sworn the server spit my very sick family member, and I have a very sick family member that could've have gotten extremely sick. This is extremely unprofessional and change must come. I really believe their is hope in this restaurant. But please make sure they are more sanitary. read more

The food and service in general were good. However, I had asked about adding shrimp to my coyote wrap because it wasn't listed as a filling options. The waitress said they could add it, and at first she said she didn't think there was an up charge at all, which I thought was odd. She went on to say if there was, it would probably only be 'a couple of dollars.' She didn't check. Thinking that it would be maybe $5 at most, I said sure. To my surprise when the bill came out, the upcharge to add shrimp to my $17 burrito was **$10**. Mind you, these were average-sized shrimp, at best, and I got maybe 5 in this wrap. I called the waitress over to double-check and she basically said "Oh, huh, I guess it ended up being 10 dollars. That's crazy." Very disappointing. There was no thought to check before putting the order in or to even give us a heads up. Ten dollars is absolutely ridiculous! I will definitely think twice before visiting again because of this. read more

Bad food, bad drinks, bad service, do not recommend. Crowded and cramped and wait longer than told originally.

"Coyote Flaco" actually translates to "pizza on bread" Best french dining in town. Bring your wife next time, Fred.

Another wonderful dinner at Coyote Flaco. We headed out for dinner and didn't think to call ahead. Got on the wait list and headed into the bar for a drink while waiting. Chase and the older gentleman working with him took care of us right away, even though they were pretty busy. Great selection of margaritas, but I went with the tried and true tradicional, hand made and hand shaken. ¡Delicioso! The salsa was good and took the edge off our Friday night hunger. As the bar cleared out a bit, we grabbed seats and decided to take our names off the list for a table. Chase put our order in for empanadas and they came out quickly: flaky crust and nicely flavored beef filling. We easily could have devoured several orders. On to the main affair: .a chimi combo with steak and a chicken enchilada and I went with the enchilada.trio because I was craving mole. Each of the three sauces was equally flavorful, but I think the red was my favorite. FRESH Guacamole like theirs will make you NEVER eat anything pre-made! I ate all of it and I usually don't care if it's there. Another round of margaritas was just as delicious to go with the meal. And, wonderful attentive service the whole meal. Even paying the bill was quick and easy here..... we will be back again sooner Coyote Flaco...it's worth the drive. ChimichangaEmpanadasMole Chicken Enchilada read more

We've been there twice in one week. This place is real good and a good value for the $$. Good portions and great drinks. The staff is friendly and laid back. First time there I ordered the chimichanga which was good. My partner ordered the steak churros I which was awesome. Second time there I ordered the seafood stew which was amazing. This place is very laid back. Jeans and a t-shirt type of a place. Imaginative menu and really good drink and cocktail selections. It's really a hidden gem for Mexican food in EasternCT. read more

Their food is great! My first time here was with a big group and I was impressed by how spot on their quesadillas were. Also chips and salsa incredible. Second time around I used door dash and got it delivered. I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas and was once again amazed by how flavorful the food was! They also gave me tons of wraps which is much appreciated because Chuck's never gives you enough. I took away one star however because the hours are absurd! Most days is 5-9 or 5-10 and they are closed on Tuesdays. How does the place stay in business?!?! read more

Went to this restaurant in the Hartford location cause the one in Coventry location was closed due to owners being on vacation. Our waitress was the owner so our service was amazing. The relaxed ambiance added to an enjoyable meal. The food was delicious as I ordered a enchilada trio and could actually taste the difference between each sauce on each enchilada, my son ordered the enchilada suiza and he also was very pleased with his food. I would definitely recommend this Mexican restaurant. read more

Did you ever hold your nose and close your eyes to eat something so you wont taste or see it? This place offers the same effect without having to hold your nose. Tasteless cardboard formed into the shape of Mexican Food is not Mexican Food. I also got a kick out of the bartender offering up free shots and cocktails to his pals while my wife and I sat there wondering which one of them was the designated driver. It was a unique experience paying for our food and drink and being ignored while a bunch of folks right next to us drank for free and were lauded over. I went here on a Monday night. They have $4 margarita specials, which were very good!! My boyfriend and I sat at the bar because there was no available tables in the dining area. I love to sit outside, they have a great outdoor patio with many tables! The outdoor patio wasn't opened... It was may 16th.... We had great service at the bar! The bartender was friendly, and really took care of everyone sitting at the bar! They give you unlimited chips and salsa, and there is something about the salsa that made us ask for more re-fills! I always get the coyote wrap with chicken for $13. It is delicious! I will be back again coyote flaco! I highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for Mexican food and margaritas! read more

We ordered takeout on quesadillas to eat at the drive-in theater... bad idea as the cheese in the quesadillas was already cold when we picked it up on time and was not great when cold. Veggie quesadilla was bland. Salsa was nothing to write home about. I expect maybe we would have had a better experience if we ate in the restaurant. Probably wouldn't go back and risk it. read more

I was really disappointed with food and the cocktails I ordered. I think that the quality of the food needs to be re-evaluated. The atmosphere is that of any typical "Mexican" or "Tex Mex" style restaurant. The service was good and really kept me from not giving a single star, which I rarely use. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, which were smothered in a pure lime green sauce (which screamed imitation tomatillo from a mile away). For an appetizer, I opted for the tamale (bad choice). I have hundreds of authentic tamales in my life time and the tamale I consumed that night was a huge let down. My family members all ordered different items, which they seemed to be happy with. It really comes down to the quality for me. Regardless if the cuisine is authentic or is a fusion, there needs to be a level of quality. I cook central and south American food frequently and ingredients can be purchased on the lower end. Food cost is rising, but Coyote Flaco cuts it's corners and it shows. My overall experience was not that greatest. My service was awesome and the main reason for saving this review. The poor quality of the food was the nail in the coffin. read more

Went to Coyote Flaco after an afternoon of bargain hunting at Mansfield Flea Market. While I do not expect CT folks to have authentic Mexican food, I was somewhat expecting something palatable. For appetizer, I got the chicken tamal. It's a chicken tamales served with salsa and pico de gallo. It was bland and I found a chicken bone inside the tamales. No bueno, amigo! My partner and our friend had the cheese quesadilla, which looks amazing and was told it's actually pretty good. For lunch, I ordered the chicken vera cruz. Flattened chicken cutlet sauteed in tomato sauce and spinach served with beans, rice and guacamole. I wasn't expecting this dish to come out this way really. Very bland. For dessert we shared a flan. It was actually pretty good and if I had to go back there, I'd prolly only order the flan. All in all, try to stay away from this place. Unless obviously you don't "know" what Mexican food really is and you just want to feel cultured. read more

Took our UCONN student there for margarita day. Super friendly waitresses with plenty of sassy humour which we really enjoyed. Salsa was home-made with fresh onions and corn. Margaritas (frozen passion and house) were strong and deliciously balanced. Trio enchiladas, chicken fajitas were delicious. Flan was coffee flavored, rich and delicious. Chocolate lava cake was also delicious. Overall a really great meal with plenty of happy patrons at the bar. We will be back read more

We haven't eaten at Coyote Flaco in at least a year. I honestly thought they were out of business, as I never see any cars in the parking lot. However, on our recent Monday night visit the place was hopping. Nothing has changed since our last visit, but that's not a bad thing. It's nice enough, and the menu has plenty of options for every pseudo-Mexican taste. No, this is not very authentic Mexican, but it's a very good take on Tex/Americanized Mex. It helped that Monday offers $4 margaritas. They're okay, especially for four bucks. You start off with a basket of brightly food-colored tortilla chips. They're warm, and taste okay, but the colors were kind of weird. Salsa was good, though. The menu offers a good variety, from combo platters of enchiladas and tacos, to full-on dinner entrees of chicken, steak, seafood. I liked that you can mix & match, and ordered a combo featuring a molé chicken enchilada and a regular beef enchilada. Chunks of meat, not shredded or ground. Sauces were good. My wife's burrito combo as also good. They key point is, neither dish was outstanding. It was some good solid Mexican. There are several Mexican joints nearby in Willi, and Coyote Flaco is okay. but probably won't be my first choice next time I'm looking for Mexican food. read more

I love this place! Great service and food! I usually get the steak burrito and a mango frozen margarita which are both delicious. Good portions as well. I went there with two friends and ate at a table in the bar. The ambiance, the staff and the food were all really good. So...why a 3-star rating? Because when I sit down I want a menu. I do not want some symbol/code that I have to access with my cell phone in order to see the menu. Give me an actual menu. One that isn't on a a 2"x3" screen. I don't want to have to bring my cell phone in order to have a meal. If it wasn't for that I would have given them a 4 or 5-star rating. Pretty close to Cinco de Mayo in Willimantic. read more
