We arrived en masse, a group of 6 at 7:30, but had no problem being swiftly served. The chips arrived swiftly and kept coming, with a tasty salsa. A decent beer selection was on offer, as well as mixed drinks. Our vegan found a meal to his liking, and we all enjoyed some of the best Mexican food I've enjoyed since I left Texas. Never had anything bad here. I don't typically love ground beef but here I order it almost every time for my choice of protein. If you like any of their house margaritas you can get those in a pitcher which saves some money if your group would drink at least 4 margaritas. The specialty margaritas only come in single servings but the jalapeno one is really good. The empanada appetizer comes with 2, wish it came with like 10. It's served with some sort of chipotle sauce that I keep to use with my meal. The chimichangas are great, not too big. The combo charro comes with a chimi and an enchilada suiza (you can pick your protein for each.) I was skeptical about the enchiladas because I don't typically like soft corn tortillas (I prefer flour) but this enchilada was great and the tortilla was actually good and not a funky texture. The quesadilla has Oaxaca cheese and I love this cheese so much that I think about it a lot in my free time . I get this with ground beef which makes it a messy quesadilla but the combination of the ground beef with the Oaxaca cheese... Amazing. We've always had great servers here and the owners are awesome. It's rare that we have a wait to be seated but they do now take online reservations to eliminate that issue. My only complaint is that they're closed on Sundays. read more

This was our first time here, but it won't be the last! The food and drinks outstanding. I had the three enchiladas combo, and my wife had the chile relleno. I will say that all three of my enchiladas were excellent, but my favorite was the steak with the mole sauce. It was the BEST mole sauce I've ever had! The drinks are excellent and extremely consistent, which is a relief for anyone that has visited nearby Cinco De Mayo or Chucks Margaritas. The ambience is perfect, I can't decide if I prefer sitting by the pellet stove in the winter or outside on the deck in the summer. My Favorites? Went there yesterday for dinner and was sat at a table next to a large party. We waited for about ten minutes and were not acknowledged, so I went to the host and informed them of the situation. When the server came over, they said, "I didn't see you." No apology, almost defensive. When placing our order, the appetizer I wanted was no longer available, and when I asked what else they were out of, I was told a few items, and when I asked if there was anything else, they added a couple more things. No apologies for this either. After placing our order, the server came around with our beverages, but went to the table next to us and instead of dropping them off to us first, asked the table about desserts and told them about items that they were out of. The food came out pretty quickly, but the meals were switched. I wound up with chorizo, my guest wound up with pork. The server never asked if we wanted anything else, and just dropped off the check. As we were leaving, I told the host about the experience and they stated that, "they were one of their best servers." Also, became defensive, and when I was walking out the door, they said things under their breath. I have been in the restaurant industry for over thirty years, and have never made a complaint about any restaurant, but was really disappointed with this whole dining experience. read more

The food and service in general were good. However, I had asked about adding shrimp to my coyote wrap because it wasn't listed as a filling options. The waitress said they could add it, and at first she said she didn't think there was an up charge at all, which I thought was odd. She went on to say if there was, it would probably only be 'a couple of dollars.' She didn't check. Thinking that it would be maybe $5 at most, I said sure. To my surprise when the bill came out, the upcharge to add shrimp to my $17 burrito was **$10**. Mind you, these were average-sized shrimp, at best, and I got maybe 5 in this wrap. I called the waitress over to double-check and she basically said "Oh, huh, I guess it ended up being 10 dollars. That's crazy." Very disappointing. There was no thought to check before putting the order in or to even give us a heads up. Ten dollars is absolutely ridiculous! Another wonderful dinner at Coyote Flaco. We headed out for dinner and didn't think to call ahead. Got on the wait list and headed into the bar for a drink while waiting. Chase and the older gentleman working with him took care of us right away, even though they were pretty busy. Great selection of margaritas, but I went with the tried and true tradicional, hand made and hand shaken. ¡Delicioso! The salsa was good and took the edge off our Friday night hunger. As the bar cleared out a bit, we grabbed seats and decided to take our names off the list for a table. Chase put our order in for empanadas and they came out quickly: flaky crust and nicely flavored beef filling. We easily could have devoured several orders. Went to this restaurant in the Hartford location cause the one in Coventry location was closed due to owners being on vacation. Our waitress was the owner so our service was amazing. The relaxed ambiance added to an enjoyable meal. The food was delicious as I ordered a enchilada trio and could actually taste the difference between each sauce on each enchilada, my son ordered the enchilada suiza and he also was very pleased with his food. We've been there twice in one week. This place is real good and a good value for the $$. Good portions and great drinks. The staff is friendly and laid back. I was really disappointed with food and the cocktails I ordered. I think that the quality of the food needs to be re-evaluated. The atmosphere is that of any typical "Mexican" or "Tex Mex" style restaurant. The service was good and really kept me from not giving a single star, which I rarely use. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, which were smothered in a pure lime green sauce (which screamed imitation tomatillo from a mile away). For an appetizer, I opted for the tamale (bad choice). I have hundreds of authentic tamales in my life time and the tamale I consumed that night was a huge let down. My family members all ordered different items, which they seemed to be happy with. It really comes down to the quality for me. Regardless if the cuisine is authentic or is a fusion, there needs to be a level of quality. I cook central and south American food frequently and ingredients can be purchased on the lower end. Food cost is rising, but Coyote Flaco cuts it's corners and it shows. I went here on a Monday night. They have $4 margarita specials, which were very good!! My boyfriend and I sat at the bar because there was no available tables in the dining area. I love to sit outside, they have a great outdoor patio with many tables! The outdoor patio wasn't opened... It was may 16th.... We had great service at the bar! The bartender was friendly, and really took care of everyone sitting at the bar! They give you unlimited chips and salsa, and there is something about the salsa that made us ask for more re-fills! We haven't eaten at Coyote Flaco in at least a year. I honestly thought they were out of business, as I never see any cars in the parking lot. However, on our recent Monday night visit the place was hopping. Nothing has changed since our last visit, but that's not a bad thing. It's nice enough, and the menu has plenty of options for every pseudo-Mexican taste. No, this is not very authentic Mexican, but it's a very good take on Tex/Americanized Mex. It helped that Monday offers $4 margaritas. They're okay, especially for four bucks. You start off with a basket of brightly food-colored tortilla chips. They're warm, and taste okay, but the colors were kind of weird. Salsa was good, though. The menu offers a good variety, from combo platters of enchiladas and tacos, to full-on dinner entrees of chicken, steak, seafood. I liked that you can mix & match, and ordered a combo featuring a molé chicken enchilada and a regular beef enchilada. Chunks of meat, not shredded or ground. Sauces were good. My wife's burrito combo as also good. They key point is, neither dish was outstanding. It was some good solid Mexican. There are several Mexican joints nearby in Willi, and Coyote Flaco is okay. but probably won't be my first choice next time I'm looking for Mexican food. read more

I went there with two friends and ate at a table in the bar. The ambiance, the staff and the food were all really good. So...why a 3-star rating? Because when I sit down I want a menu. I do not want some symbol/code that I have to access with my cell phone in order to see the menu. Give me an actual menu. One that isn't on a a 2"x3" screen. Went to Coyote Flaco after an afternoon of bargain hunting at Mansfield Flea Market. While I do not expect CT folks to have authentic Mexican food, I was somewhat expecting something palatable. For appetizer, I got the chicken tamal. It's a chicken tamales served with salsa and pico de gallo. It was bland and I found a chicken bone inside the tamales. No bueno, amigo! My partner and our friend had the cheese quesadilla, which looks amazing and was told it's actually pretty good. For lunch, I ordered the chicken vera cruz. Flattened chicken cutlet sauteed in tomato sauce and spinach served with beans, rice and guacamole. I wasn't expecting this dish to come out this way really. Very bland. For dessert we shared a flan. It was actually pretty good and if I had to go back there, I'd prolly only order the flan. All in all, try to stay away from this place.
