Their food is so good coupled with reasonable prices. Somewhat busy but this place is full of nice atmosphere, cool people and cultural vibes rooted in Puerto Rican / Hispanic heritage I tried them a few weeks ago and it was delicious. This is my plate from Monfogo. The food was good. I got chicken and beef ribs with rice and all the sauces, and plantains. The food was a chefs kiss. Taste is flavorful but I will say it is extremely greasy. The container looks small but they're deep so you do get your moneys worth. The tres leches cake was also very very well made and delicious. Breading was soaked right so there aren't any dry patches. My only complaint is the fried items. None of the empanadas or the other item (forgot the name to it) were good. They were not enjoyable to eat and did not match the quality of the food in the container. The food bar is something I'd go back for, but the empanadas were a disappointment. During lunch, the place was slightly busy, but ordering is fast. The staff was helpful with helping me order since it was my first time there. I've been to the Waterbury Mofongo before, but I think Willimantic is even better! The new location is really nice inside and the food couldn't have been more perfect. The pernil was great, apps and sides were delicious, and loved the passionfruit juice and tres leches. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this location!! read more

Food was excellent; super flavorful and well seasoned! I got a bowl w/ MofonGo and Pernil, and some Alcapurria bites, and there are no complaints on my end. When I first looked on the website, I thought things seemed a bit pricey, but based on the portion size, I believe the pricing is fair. Whole I ordered to-go, the atmosphere inside seems pleasant and the staff was extremely friendly. I can't give a full five stars, because the ordering system online allows you to select a pick-up time, but they're having a point-of-sake where they're only getting the ok order at the time it is supposed to be ready to go. That being said, the staff was quick to make the order, and I don't have any complaints; if this get Ms fixed, I'll be happy to give full marks (for now I'll just set my pick-up time for 5-10 minutes before I actually intend to arrive). read more

Got takeout from this place 2-13-26 on a Friday night around 5:00, we had chicken, rice, and pork, for the past 2 days me and my family have had problems holding in our food and going to the bathroom constantly. Food may look normal but there was definitely something wrong with it whether is was the meat or something else and we can't hold anything we eat down, better safe than sorry I won't be going here again. read more

Phenomenal! The food is absolutely phenomenal. They are even grandfather approved! (He's from Puerto Rico so his opinion matters ya'll!) You can walk in, order for takeaway or sit down, can even call ahead. I end up using their square website via their weekly texts with discounts they send out to me. The prices are already quite fair though. This isn't fast food! This is home cookin'! The mofongo is perfect every time. Chicken is never dry. What you see is what you get. They make it right in front of you. This place is consistent with their flavors regardless of who's working which is really appreciated as the consumer! They've got great Puerto Rican tunes playing all the time including the fabulous El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico! read more

1st time I ordered, the food was ON POINT!!! Very fast service, friendly staff, and the food was flavorful. The portions are BIG. You can easily get 2 meals outta 1. The 2nd time I ordered by accident they gave me pernil instead of chicharron de pollo. I was at work so I couldn't go right back but the gentleman over the phone told me to come back the next day for the right meal since I can not have pork. Still ended up eating the mofongo and beans and couldn't finish it all lol! Their customer service is unmatched!! It's hard to come by delicious food AND exceptional service. Though the food looked great and the staff polite, this cafeteria style food needs some attention. I visited mofongo 3 times and ordered 3 different dishes. They were probably wonderful when fresh, but my chicken, shrimp, pork and rice dishes were extremely overcooked, probably from continually cooking in the serving tubs. The dark meat chicken was as dry (much more) as overcooked thanksgiving turkey. The same with the beef and shrimp. The ribs fell off the bone as overcooking will do. Maybe the staff can cook smaller batches throughout the day so they don't overcook in the tubs. I visited the restaurant at 6:00 twice and 7:00 once. I had the chicken last night and couldn't get past the first bite. I think this could be a good typical Spanish restaurant, but some thought should be considered on cook and warming time. The local Spanish population is food savvy and expects more typical good quality Spanish food. I've heard this complaint many times. read more
