    Old fashioned 4/2024

This distillery was a hidden surprise behind an industrial area. Plenty of parking, but beyond the distillery we noticed a lovely green space. In this space , we spotted a few food trucks and a beautiful green frisbee golf course. Inside- lots of people in parties/groups happily chatting away, drinks in hand. Cool seating areas and decor. Ordered an old fashioned, but was little disappointed that no bitters or syrup were added. It was a bit strong ta sip on, but my son and I traded drinks - he ordered a special on the menu that was pretty good : )

Super cute distillery close to the city! Fierce Whiskers has a great lawn area to hang out, it's dog friendly and there's blankets to get more comfortable. The inside space is decorated so nicely, and the bartenders are really helpful when choosing a cocktail. They make all of the different spirits in house and the drinks run from $10 to $14. We tried the Take Two $11 and The New Austin $14. Of the two I really like the taste of The New Austin cocktail. The Take Two was basically similar to a pain killer drink. It was nice but I don't think it was as unique as the other. Great space with great sunset views, nice staff and love the cocktails!

We cane here for a pop up event to try some chef's cuisine we follow locally- and wow we were impressed! Amazing service, ample parking, good whiskey drinks- loved it! The prices weren't inexpensive but not super pricey- good mid range. The grounds are nice, lots of oak trees and greenery. We will definitely be back!

I absolutely love this place and am sad I didn't get a chance to spend more time here during my time in Austin. My friend Kevin is very fond of this place and is the one who introduced me to it. We came here one evening, hungry for some good food and a good glass of whiskey. They have a food truck which serves up some delicious Asian fusion skewers. I love the garlic rice that come with the dishes! We then went inside to have some whiskey. The bar gives off that mature bachelor vibe but also kind of feels like one of your lowkey rich friends' living room. Lol at least that's how I'd describe it! The drinks were great, bartenders are friendly... just good vibes all around! In April, they had their first bottle release party and we attended. What a fun event! We got to eat some really amazing bbq, drink some crafty cocktails, and really just have a good time! We met one of the owners who was super chill and down to earth. I really wish these guys great success! I also got a Tshirt to help promote them! :) make sure to check them out on social media as they have random events throughout the months!

First time visit and I loved the ambiance, cocktails and delicious tacos by Texsueno. I stopped by with a group of ladies and we had a great time. Staff was pleasant and the open space was lovely. This spot is definitely worth the visit - I do recommend.

Rutherford B Hayes... why is he on the barrel?

Neat little distillery south of Austin downtown. Their bourbon has a fragrance of maple syrup to me. The finish is pleasant and rewarding. Come in and do their offerings in a flight. Order a cocktail and sit out on their shaded patio. Relaxing environment and some nice spirits to enjoy. Great crew to interact with. Make it an evening spot to have a cocktail and just chill. Stop in and see Loretta and the GM Ben. So cool to get to talk to them! Ask about Rutherford B Hayes the name of the distillery and what he has to do with Fierce Whiskers Distillery.

What a hidden gem in East Austin! Came here last weekend with some friends to enjoy some great cocktails with the lovely spring weather and Fierce Whiskers delivered on both. The overall distillery is in a pretty large area with plenty of seating options from outdoor to patio to inside the tasting room. The menu offers classic cocktails such as the old fashioned with new favorites like the el Diablo. They also offer rum, gin & non alcoholic drinks so there's something for everyone. What stood out to me most was the distillery offered plenty of events to make it more of an experience such as tours and tasting classes as well as cocktail dinner events and live music. This is definitely one of my new favorite spots in town and excited to come back here for a future event!

Super glad we visited this distillery. They have whiskey, gin, and agave specialty cocktails and offer tours a few times a day. They also have a food truck on site and a pumpkin patch in the fall. We visited on a beautiful day and all of the employees were so nice and gave great recommendations. I like slightly sweeter drinks so I ordered the Peach Cobbler with a whiskey base and my husband ordered an old fashioned. Both were very good. We'll be back!

Fierce Whiskers has become a go to stop for my wife and I. The cocktails are amazing and tend to change with the seasons. The staff is friendly and love to speak to the spirits they make and serve. The space is absolutely beautiful. Fierce Whiskers is a great spot to take folks from out of town, or maybe even go on a date. Stop in have a drink and you'll for sure have a great time.

Absolutely wonderful and magical place! We arrived around 5:45 after braving Austin traffic, which forced us to skip dinner. When we arrived we were over the moon to see two families of trucks on the property... highly recommend you try them out. The tour was expertly conduced by Colin. It include every step of the process from grain to mash to distilling and removing all but the alcoholic drink. Rick house smells like heaven. Every barrel laid out, including the first. What a great space and project to come out of COVID! Old Fashioned was the best I've ever had, highly recommend.

Very nice distillery sitting on a large piece of land. Kid and dog friendly. There were outside games like corn hole along with picnic tables and food trucks. We did a tour for $15. We were able to try the whiskey before it went in the barrel and after. Pretty cool experience along with a behind the scenes look at the full process. Our tour guide was a very friendly and made the tour fun. The drink prices and tastings are extremely reasonably priced.

I can't believe it's taking me so long to check this place out... I always saw the sign but never made it over. It's a beautiful spot! I love the indoor decor, but the outdoors is where it's at. So much open space, tables, live music, and a few food trucks. Drinks are on the pricier side, but that's Austin now. I wasn't super impressed with my old fashioned--I don't think the guy cleaned the spoon, and it had a tequila taste to it from the previous drinks he had made. Oh well, I like the place enough that I will definitely be back.

If you can, then I suggest the tour! Sophie is very knowledgeable and personable. They just opened in October but this is already one of my fave distilleries ever. The drinks (they have cocktails) are fantastic and creative. They specialize in whiskey and rye. I suggest their bourbon. They also make gin, rum, and agave spirit (tequila basically). You can do a flight of 4 (any spirit) which isn't on the menu. Interior decor is modern with vintage twist. Outside they have a food truck too!

Let's see what this place is about!

This is a unique venue in that it's a bit off the beaten path near driftwood, up in a hilly area. GPS guided us there just fine. The distillery is attached to a church and wedding venue, and the wizard academy (which our friend attended for his whiskey sommelier certification). I think the distillery is their own separate business and entity but the property all seems like one thing. The bartender said crowded barrel isn't run or connected to the wizard academy but they are friendly given the shared love of whiskey. At the whiskey academy, so somewhere on the property, is the wizard's whiskey vault. Now that's a room I'd like to get into. But, I'm not trying to be a whiskey Somme, so I'll likely never see it in person. We had a few cocktails and couple of straight pours. If we had come earlier in the day, I would have done a flight in addition, to get more tastes. Come with at least an hour to spend here. I enjoyed the Anejo agave (tequila) spirit and we bought a bottle of the Snake Wood Whiskey. This is a fun and uniquely flavored whiskey. It's a bourbon finished with Brazilian Amburana Oak which lends an interesting cinnamon like taste. But it's not cinnamon, it's like reminiscent of baking spices. Very tasty. The staff were friendly and happy to chat about whiskey. We enjoyed our time there, wish we had been able to spend just a little bit longer but such is life :)

Loved their drinks - had their Espresso Martini and was definitely a fan of their Spicy Ranch Water! Service was also great, can't complain about that! The food did take a little longer for it to be ready which was a little annoying since I only ordered their queso with chips and their pork belly tips. The Quintessential Texas Hill Country Day Out!…read more If you're looking for the perfect blend of Texas hospitality, smoky BBQ, and scenic vineyard views, look no further than the Austin Detours Hill Country BBQ & Wine Shuttle. I recently took this tour in February, and it was the highlight of my weekend (as I'm a local). Whether you are a local hosting out-of-towners or looking for a professional team-building outing, Austin Detours provides a seamless, stress-free way to experience the best of Central Texas. 5/5 recommend! Our day started at the Austin Visitor Center where we met our driver, Luke, who was fantastic throughout the trip. We hopped into a comfortable Mercedes Sprinter van for a smooth 40-minute drive out to the hills. One of the best parts of these tours is the people you meet. Our group included travelers from Ontario and Brazil, and it was wonderful swapping stories about their first impressions of Texas while we cruised toward our first stop. We started strong at this legendary BBQ spot - The Salt Lick. After placing our orders for some of that famous fall-off-the-bone brisket, we took a quick walk over to Salt Lick Cellars to grab some wine. Pro tip: Salt Lick is BYO, so being able to grab a bottle right there to pair with the BBQ is a game changer. Next up was Driftwood Estate Winery which was pure relaxation. We grabbed a bottle, found a spot under a massive oak tree, and just took in the incredible Hill Country views. Our new international friends joined us after their tasting, and the conversation was just as good as the wine. Our final stop at Fall Creek Vineyards was originally meant for a formal tasting, but the interior was buzzing and a bit loud. Since the Texas weather was doing us a massive favor -- sunny and nearly 80°F in February! -- the group opted to buy a few bottles and head outside to the fire pit. It was the perfect way to wind down. The drive back to the Austin Visitor Center flew by. We were all chatting, sharing snacks, and enjoying a final beverage in the van. A few things to keep in mind: The $69 price is for the expert guide and transport. You'll want to budget about $35 for BBQ and $10-$25+ for wine tastings/bottles. The Vibe was incredibly flexible. Whether you want to do a formal tasting or just split a bottle by a firepit with new friends, the pace is up to you.
