KB Design Solutions is a company to avoid. They took my money, did terrible work, left a mess,…read morewould not respond to messages, and disappeared. We ordered custom cabinets and put a hefty amount down in good faith. What we received were terrible prefabricated garbage made from flimsy particle board, much of which was water damaged. Further, the install was terrible. The drywall was put in wrong, with no tape and no mud. I had another installer come in to fix the dry wall damage. The cabinets were not aligned properly, did not fit in the space allotted, and were damaged. They made no effort to take them back or replace them. They are a dishonest and untrustworthy outfit. Stay away from this company. They have not attempted to make this right, and we ended up ordering cabinets from a different company that makes quality cabinets. This entire ordeal has been a colossal monetary loss for us. Here are some issues that we wish to bring to your attention: Kitchen Island 1. The foot kick was not aligned and only extended under the shelves 2/3'S of the length. There was no foot kick under the last 1/3 where the trash cabinet was set. S 2. The foot kick under the trash cabinet is pointing orthogonal to the other cabinets. 3. The Foot kick under the trash cabinet is misaligned (not flush) with the adjacent cabinet. 4. The cabinets are made from thin particle board. We were expecting wood. 5. The cabinets are not aligned. The width of the trash cabinet is not the same as the other cabinets with the drawers and hence are not aligned. They tried to remedy the problem with shim stock, but the outcome looked poor. 6. The molding does not match at the foot kick for the left side drawer cabinet. 7. The foot kick molding edges are not painted. 8. There was some water damage in one cabinet behind the plastic wedges. I changed all of the wedges to metal wedges looking for more water damage and other issues. 9. A hole was punched through one of the cabinet panels by a screw that was too long. Other Cabinets 1. The cabinets were not painted on the inside as they were supposed to be per our discussions. 2. The cabinets are not flush with the soffit ledge, leaving an unsightly overhand. 3. The Lazy Susan has no back to it. With no sides, it leaves an opening between the stove and the back of the cabinet. A granite top could not be placed on it. They used some scrap 2x4 and attach to the wall as a support for the top. There is still an open space between the stove and the Lazy Susan because of the ridiculously poor craftsmanship. See 4. The pantry shelves are stationary and do not pull out. We clearly asked that the pantry shelves be the pull out drawer style. 5. The cabinet bottom above the sink area is unfinished, leaving an unsightly appearance with gaps between the cabinets. The same is true for the cabinet above the refrigerator. 6. The toe kick edges for the cabinets are not painted. 7. The cabinets are apparently about an inch short in total length and do not reach the end of the soffit. Further, Tim cut out the picture rail according to the drawings, but now there is a gap left because the cabinet manufacturers were an inch off. 8. None of the shelves are wood, which will warp and expand over time, especially the board that would be under the sink.

Last September I contacted Winston Brown remodeling for an estimate for some beams in my living…read moreroom. The person from the front office called me back and set up an appointment with Abby. Took Abby about two weeks before she contacted me with an exact date. When she arrived, She took measurements and said it would take about 10 days to get the estimate back to me. I never heard another word from her. Finally about a month later I get a text that she's still waiting for materials information. That's fine, I can accept that. After that, I never heard another word from her. I left her three text messages which I know she read, but refused to get back to me. Two weeks ago I called the office and left a message asking for information on what was happening with my request. Once again, silence. I sent Abby another text asking her what was going on and why was she ignoring my text messages. She texted back saying she had family problems and was only working part time at Winston but would give my information to Jolene on 27 December. As of today I had not heard anything so I called again. I got Abby on the phone. She acted like nothing had happened. No apologies for the delay. No apologies for not getting back to me...nothing. I asked when Jolene was going to get back to me and she said Jolene's not back until the third. Not once did she apologize for ignoring me. I was very much looking forward to getting decorative beams in my front room, but I can say it's not going to happen with this company. Time to move on and find someone else. Update, Abby just called me back with amazingly she had the estimate! When I told her how upset I was that for months, I've been waiting for this estimate and after I call, she amazingly pulls it out of the air to send to me and that I wanted to speak to someone higher up in the company. Her exact words were, I think it's best you take your business elsewhere.

In a word - Slackers. All I needed was a custom front door. Was told this was the "only" business…read moreI could get it from locally - only to find out that Winston-Brown in turn ordered it from another local wholesale company! I could have done that myself! Jake at Winston Brown NEVER returns phone calls, is unfocused, unprofessional and if you go to their facility, you will have to wait until the receptionist finishes her personal phone call before she will acknowledge your presence (happened to me twice). Now I have a door that took 10 weeks to arrive (Jake told me 4-6 weeks) with hardware I didn't want because he wouldn't return my call so I could give him the number for the assembly I wanted. Tried to talk to him about it, but he couldn't have cared less! Forgot to update, so here it is (it just keeps getting worse)...the door arrived (late as above-stated) and guess what? Winston-Brown ordered it as a right-handed door. WRONG, the door is a left-opening door, so the pilot holes were and brackets were on the wrong side in order to hang the door. They assured me they would put a rush order in on another door (didn't happen) and after 6 more weeks the door arrived, was installed and I will never call Winston-Brown again.
