A few months ago, I bought some Apple Air Tags for our vacation to Barbados . One night we were out late and it started to rain. We both wear glasses and were lost. I opened up the app and it had taken us straight to our room. 5 weeks ago we bought a new high-quality TV. All of a sudden it quit working. Best Buy can often be a crazy place in the frenzy of the Christmas shopping season. Today, I was a man on a mission, needing two specific small items, an IPad accessory and a screen cleaner. Each were in the areas where you would expect them, in stock, and reasonably priced. The customer service entering the store, and checking out was polite and efficient. Didn't ask if I was finding everything ok, nothing. As we were walking out, the three people standing by the door didn't ask if we found everything we were looking for. Which was odd. So.. I bought 2 tv's and 1 wall mount. We were treated rudely by the door person who was to help load. He told us he would not load tv's because they have to be standing up or warranty would be void. My daughter who was with me who works at FedEx told him that tvs come thought there all the time laying down. He was very rude and acted like a dick. My question is if this is true how do people get tvs home because they're very few cars or trucked that a tv will fit in. I have never had customer service COMPANY WIDE as bad as my latest Best Buy experience! 5/11 I purchased a Samsung washer for about a grand. Delivery scheduled for 5/15. When the agent takes my sale he verifies my address and phone number (watched him type it in). I take the time off work and wait for my new washer. Day of I get a call at 11 AM (scheduled 8 to 12) that they are on the way. An hour later I get another call stating that they went to the address and they knew nothing of the delivery. Turns out the delivery company, some complete waste of corporate space called FSA Networks, went to the address I had almost a decade ago. Understandable, I give them the correct address. Dispatcher tells me, after I asked why no confirmation call, that they also had the wrong phone number and she had to use a directory to find the right number. Fair enough, but why didnt they then verify the address?? She had no answer. At that point she tells me she will contact the truck and see when they can be out. About 30 minutes later the I am told that they cannot deliver that day because its a 30 minute drive (its 15 mins driving a 10 ton panel truck; I made the drive often). The store finally called me almost 2 hours later to tell me they will deliver the following day. I then head to work and proceed to tell my boss I have to be off the following day. An hour or so later I get another call from the store telling me they cannot deliver next day after all...something about having to have the truck check the item back in before they can reschedule. After complaining to a manager and going back and forth, I am told they wont be able to do it the next day, but the day after, but they will discount my order another 10%. I decide to give it another shot, and tell my boss I need to change things AGAIN. Thursday at 10 AM (delivery again set for 8 to 12) I get a call from FSA Netwroks again stating that due to a driver emergency they wont be able to deliver my item until Saturday. ANOTHER wasted day! I had confirmation calls from FSA AND the store the niught prior, but no call before 10 AM to tell me things had changed. However, I am told an email was sent. Sure enough, I had an email stamped at 7:45 AM that they would deliver to me Saturday 8 to 12. No call along with it, and I had told them I wanted to be called, not emailed, since I sometimes dont get time to constantly check my personal email (no, I use my personal phone as a phone, not as a tablet, and work doesnt allow personal emails on my work phone). I call Best Buy and cancel my order. Honestly had I known at the time of purchase that they use a third party delivery company for their installs I probably would have just gone to Lowes and had them try to price match. They actually use their own employees for delivery. The store manager asks me to contact corporate and tell them why I am upset with Best Buy, that they constantly have issues with FSA and are trying to get them to change how delivery is handled. Going to the website I find ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that allows you to contact service other than 888-BestBuy, so I call. After a completely worthless automated screening system I reach someone who in extremely hard to understand non English accent (no, I didnt press 9 for Espanol) that I called the wrong department and get transferred. I then reach ANOTHER person who sees English as a second or third language (GREAT that they are multilingual, it isnt easy, but I need to be able to understand the person, yes?), who tells me I again have the wrong department, and transfers me again. After a short wait I reach....no idea, the person never gave me their name, and even if they did I doubt I would have been able to understand it due to heavy accent and background noise. I explain my issue, and that I am calling to complain about my experience. He then proceeds to go on some rambling, incoherent dialogue about needing to get a release of information from the store before they can do anything for me about fixing my order. I explain, and to be honest I was probably short with the guy because at this point I was light years past angry, that I had already gotten a refund request and I was just contacting corporate to complain about FSA and my experience with Best Buy. At this point the person cuts me off and says forcefully "What is it you want me to do sir", to which I replied, "Absolutely nothing, you are every bit as worthless as I have come to expect of someone involved with your worthless company" and hung up the phone. So I try to find a way to contact corporate on the website other than the phone number. Every way you list leads me to a dead end or using social media, which I dislike. I shouldnt have to open a Twitter account to discuss a customer service issue with a company that isnt Twitter. UNPROFESSIONAL! Worst customer service ever. I went and told her I needed help could not understand the female at the front with a mask over her face and all the noise. I had to have her repeat what she said three times before I found out what area I need to go to. She said she would call somebody to help me and nobody showed up. I went there to buy an adapter to solve problems for my piss-me-off-with-all-their-stupid-new-port MacBook. I got one adapter and got home. It didn't work. I came back and they did a quick, painless exchange for me. I'm not a frequent best-buy shopper but this gave me confidence about coming more often for my tech needs. They also had an adequate number of employees there to help and answer questions and check customers out without long lines. read more

So I bought a tv at Best Buy in Topeka Ks in July it was supposed to have a two year warranty. About a month ago I turned on my smart tv and the picture looked like a negative from a photo. I couldn't find the receipt so I bought a Sony from another store. Hubby and me couldn't deal with only one tv in the house. A coworker suggested I contact my bank and they found the transaction. I brought the tv to Best Buy after work tonight. They found the receipt with no problem but oh no it's to old to replace 6 months, so Ok i have to leave the tv so they can repair it or send it back to the manufacturer. Ok I can deal with that, better than nothing, right? But wait, nobody at the Geek Squad can figure out how to get the service order to go through not even the manager. Guess what I have to send it back myself. So much for the great service they have posted all over the store. Buy with confidence blah blah blah. If you plan to shop at this location plan to know what you're looking for or do your research online. Their sales staff don't know anything more than a high school student at a part-time job. They will arrogantly tell you you're wrong or refer you to something that is what they know is the best for you. Most every case they're wrong 3/4 of time I've gone there I have been referred to the wrong items sold the worse or sold something they have bluffed about. They are great at taking advantage of people that don't not know any better and trust them because the ad says to. Then buy what they suggest the fact that they have ever sold me anything right is because they honestly know nothing about the product. I've had to return items multiple times because they've got no idea what they're selling or anything about the product in fact you will see them looking in their phones researching it as you're standing there in front of them, that's the first sign that they got no idea. For the people who think they have been sold good products and had good service it's because you don't know any better and most likely you've overpaid or you've paid for items you don't really need their management staff literally high school graduates or the manager that just got fired from McDonald's . I went there to purchase a MacBook. I didn't know the differences between them and the salesperson did an excellent job taking the time to explain the choices to me. I liked that he wasn't pushing me to buy the most expensive one there and helped me to find the right one for my needs. I also purchased a sleeve and when I got home didn't care for it too much. The return was very fast and easy. The only downside I would say is the lack of choices when purchasing a sleeve for my MacBook. I have lost count of all the Television sets, DVD players, Computers, and supplies I have purchased from Best Buy. On occasion I have been cursed with a "dumb as a door knob" employee, gritted by teeth and self helped myself find what I needed. Then at other times, I have been blessed with the nicest, smartest employee ever....which made my choice of purchase, easy breezy. That's business in the big box stores and what one must expect when buying there. Over all, I am very satisfied with Best Buy, it's employees and service department.....and of course the merchandise they offer for sale. No one is perfect...but heck, neither am I. I recommend Best Buy, because they stock the majority of items most customers and I want to purchase. Even when I may want to purchase an oddball item, they do not carry....they do their best to help me find it elsewhere. What more can you expect? read more

I bought my Sony laptop here and got the "Performance Plan." Boy, was that a big mistake! Everytime I brought in my laptop for repair, they would say that they didn't find anything wrong & would ship it out to have someone look at it. They didn't have any loaner laptops at all. So, I had no laptop for nearly 2 weeks. One time, they replaced the entire motherboard & the fan. I was told by a friend that the motherboard was expensive considering that it was a Sony laptop. He said that they should have credited me and said that the laptop costs too much to fix. After that ordeal, the laptop was still acting weird on me. The battery kept dying on me to the point that I needed to plug in the laptop. They would keep sending in replacement batteries that didn't work. One time, the "Geek Squad" lied to me & said that they would ship it out to their repair center when indeed it was another Best Buy store in another state. Another time, the laptop got repaired and was sent to me in poor condition. They didn't do a quality check apparently, and the laptop got sent again for repair. Today, I found out that they don't send in renewal forms for the "Performance Plan" cuz "it's third class mail, and sometimes third class mail doesn't get sent out." Once it's expired, you can't do squat (can't renew the plan at all). I will never again buy another laptop or computer from Best Buy again! The only good thing about them is that if you live in Manhattan or anywhere that isn't near Topeka, they'll send your laptop to you after it's repaired. read more

Best Buy over the years has attempted to revamp their stores to follow the buying trends in electronics. They used to have a huge section for music back when people still bought CDs. They now have a huge section for smartphones and their accessories. I'm usually looking for something computer related when I come to the store and most of the time I'm disappointed. Their selection of computers and computer parts are horrible for an electronics store. The sales people are not knowledgeable. If anyone disagrees, I suggest s/he go to a Micro Center store sometime and see what I mean. I have taken advantage of their online store with in-store pickup. That experience has been OK as long as you watch out for what is sold by Best Buy and what is sold by one of their re-sellers. I can't speak for every Best Buy location, though this one seems to be struggling to find its identity. They don't have much in the way of competition in Topeka, otherwise I think people would go elsewhere. read more

They actually have a pretty good tech staff for a retail operation. The guys have a range of experience. Sometimes you need to know enough to ask pertinent questions, so if your a complete know nothing, just bring your rig in. Otherwise, take the time to learn a little bit about the plastic and chips box on your table, so you at least have some idea what's going on. Barring that, find a smart 16 year old. I think on the whole, they do a pretty good job and have good prices. They are a retail outlet w/ damn good pricing on their stuff. IF you want a hard core tech force, go somewhere else, or learn a bit about about your box. Keep in mind if, you don't have access to a computer wiz nephew or niece, you'll likely pay through the nose for computer repairs, etc, someplace else. I spent 16 years as a public school studio operator, writing grants, repairing my equipment and keeping a smooth operation running smoothly. So I have more that a little experience in this field. read more
