Nicely decorated space with a large bar and the tables are spread out from one another which I liked. We came for dinner as a group of 4 (we had a reservation) on a Sunday and it was fairly busy.
The service was friendly and attentive though there was a long gap between us ordering drinks and them arriving and for the waiter to take our order but that was minor. The bread they brought to the table was delicious, one seemed to be sourdough and the other had seeds on the outside, both were tasty as was the olive oil they served it with.
We ordered the margherita pizzette, beet salad, arancini, paillard di pollo, cacio pepe, linguini frutti di mare and the branzino al cartoccio. The pizzette was pleasant but more like a pizza cracker with a thin crispy crust. The beet salad was a bit underwhelming, it was just beets with potatoes, green beans and basil with vinegar (felt more Russian than Italian). The arancini were delicious as was the sauce they came with and might be the best thing we ate. My only complaint is they are small (1-2 bites) and only 6 come in an order so for 4 people it wasn't great for sharing. The paillard was ok, but nothing to write home about. I didn't taste any pesto or fava beans, it was just chicken with green beans and asparagus in a lemon sauce. No complaints, just not very exciting, I could have made that at home. The cacio pepe was good as expected, but very creamy (felt more like a carbonara than a cacio pepe to me). I did not like the frutti di mare pasta, the tomato sauce was disappointing and the dish tasted quite fishy. I recognize frutti di mare is seafood based, but this felt like they added a ton of fish stock to the sauce. It is supposed to come with squid, baby scallops, shrimp and mussels, but the only seafood I could find were the mussels. For being one of their specialty dishes, I was let down. Lastly, the branzino was very good, I just wish the dish had a bit more substance to it as it is a large filet with pieces of potato, tomato capers etc, wrapped in paper but isn't very filling.
For dessert, we shared the torta al pistacchio which everyone enjoyed, it was just on the sweeter side, but hey it is dessert. Overall it was a decent meal in a nice space, I just don't feel any of the dishes were very impressive. Similar to reviews of their other locations, this feels like an average Italian spot and NYC has far better. That being said, I can see it being a safe place to take people to (business meals, picky friends/family) and the service is great. read more
