This place is such a cute hole in wall. They have so many good baked goods and food in general. We did not wait long and they warmed up the food for us. Would definitely come back and try more.

We got off the train after the baseball game to check out Chinatown and a good bakery is always on the list of places to find. The first one we came across is Frida. A good pineapple and cocktail bun are standards for us to compare. My cocktail bun was more bread for me than I prefer but sometimes that happens with the end piece. Hubby gave the pineapple bun a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5. Always support local businesses!

It is ok. It is a favorite of a friend of mine because her family often visited here to pick up baked goods for various occasions. Not a place I'll probably visit again because there wasn't much that caught my eye, although I bought some almond cookies for my SO and he said they were quite good (they were also huge). They are also cash only, and since I rarely carry cash (in fact, I either didn't have any on this day and my friend paid or I happened to have a couple bucks with which to pay) I suppose that alone means I'm not going to return. Parking is street or the Chinatown lot. The place is pretty dingy, so if that bothers you, you may want to visit one of the other bakeries in Chinatown.

On our Tour de Chinatown this was the second bakery we stopped by after struggling to pick only a couple spots. It's got a much more "mom and pop" vibe than Chiu Quon, which is my preferred atmosphere for most places. Because of that you don't want to spend too long deciding on your choices, since there's the stereotypical "there are people behind you hurry the heck up" pressure you get a a lot of asian counter service joints. I love it, personally. We got the bolo bao and some castella cake to try out since we didn't get either from the other place. The bolo bao was pretty dense and had a much more bagel/pretzel texture than most I've had. It wasn't bad but I was hoping for a lighter milk bread style. The castella cake, however, was pretty good. It had a great egg flavor and was super light. Nice spongey texture with a very thin line of cream running through the middle that ended up soaking into the sponge. It was decent and in the area and I wanted a quick breakfast this is a solid choice. I don't think it's work a special trip.

This is the best bakery in Chicago Chinatown! I know there are a ton and some that have a whole lot more hype, but this place is a gem. I've gone here my whole life and it's has the best buns hands down. They are fluffy, yet crispy and the inside is always flavorful no matter which kind to get. Anytime I'm in Chicago I come here and by ham and egg buns...they are phenomenal. There is not other place that makes them as good and like this place. Note it is cash only and sometimes they can be rude mainly because of them trying to turn people as quickly as possible.

Feida has been around a long time and the wife has picked up bakery goods regularly from here over the years. They are a no-frills hole-in-the wall type business and not glitzy, but the products are excellent quality and at very reasonable prices. They actually supply bakery products to various other Chinese retailers in the area. Don't be surprised to see boxes everywhere, and it's just part of their no-frills operation. It's also cash only. I'd say great low profile Chinese bakery and 4.49 stars.

The best Sesame Balls in Chinatown!! In addition, they sell a bag of six (6) large marinated BBQ pork buns for $9 which you take home to steam. I love their BBQ pork buns. They typically sell out of Sesame Balls in the evenings. Bring cash as no credit cards are accepted.

Very reasonable prices with all my pastries, a little over a dollar each. The prices remain low because it appears they have done nothing to the place since it opened. It almost feels like a dive. The clerk was all business so make sure you have cash only. All my items were decent, not the best but close enough at these prices. The buns could've used more fat. out of my purchases , the rice cake/mochi was the best executed with a red bean filling. However, the bun options will please the general public.

It's located in the heart of Chinatown and mostly like been there for over fifty years. It's been there decade before even Yelp was around Nice to see the same people working there year after year. Give this place a shot and try out a few of there buns and delicious rolls The art of Chinese bakery is in a glass of its self taking years of practice to make it taste just perfect. It is at times crowded and so be aware of this. It's best to park on a side street so you don't block traffic flow on the Main Street. Take time out to study the different type of buns and desserts. Give me a few thumbs up below if you find this useful. Swipe left on my reviews and give a thumbs up for the ones you like. Have a nice day.

They try really hard to please the customers. The variety of baked goods has expanded especially on the weekends. Great rice cakes.

Its a small bakery filled with treats. Masks are encouraged and the employees wear masks. It has my favorites in abundance...barbecue pork buns, egg custards, and cross buns. But you have to be early to get it hot and fresh. It doesn't show pricing on many of the items but you can ask. Support your local restaurants or bakeries with take out.

Feida -- char siu in baked bao or puff pastry... yum!!
    Cassie C.

The results of our highly scientific 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning head-to-head face-off between Chiu Kwon, Feida and Saint Anna confirmed that hands-down, Chiu Kwon has the skimpiest, most expensive buns. And -- far less relevant given that we're talking Chinatown and although I've been mistaken for Chinese, I'm a non-Chinese speaking Korean girl -- the least friendly service. We compared the basics: char siu bao (bbq pork buns), fried sweet rice dumplings stuffed with pork and veg and beef curry puffs. We bought 6 total buns/dumplings at each bakery and... Chiu Kwon: $7.77 for a paper bag (couldn't be bothered to give us a box) stuffed w/ buns and dumplings w/ the skimpiest of stuffings. All bun, very little of the good stuff. Feida: $6 for a box of well-stuffed, flavorful buns and stuffings. Bonus: char siu available in delish steamed, baked and puff pastry options!! Also, super friendly and helpful employee who answered all of our stupid questions as we pointed at half a dozen buns and asked "what's that?" Saint Anna: $7.30 for a box (which was offered as an option -- bag or box, whichever you prefer). Best char siu to bun ratio. Bonus for the ridiculously well-priced breakfast combos including congee, fried mantou (think Chinese churro) AND coffee for less than $5!! Other combos include spam ramen, fried noodles, dumplings and buns.

By the time I completed my order, the pickup time was 12:15pm. However, it's nice to order from wherever you are and know what time to swing by for your pickup. When I got there, the line wasn't as crazy as I've seen photos of, but it was still long. You get to walk inside past the line for online pick up. There's a sign on the counter. They make any drinks you order fresh when you get there, and it's really quick too! Service was very friendly and fast inside! The ube latte was one of the best ube flavors I've had in an ube latte before. Highly recommend! I had it iced. The pork belly adobo (only available on weekends I think) was a little disappointing. It's very possible it wasn't that great because it might've been sitting a few minutes before I picked it up and then it was 15-20 minutes uber back to my hotel to eat it. Food is always better when eaten fresh, so I don't fault them for it. The egg was perfectly cooked. I thought the pork belly would be cut in bigger chunks like their photos online, but they were cut very small. I want to try the breakfast sandwich next time I'm in town. The chocolate chip cookie with dark and white chocolate was big, soft, and yummy. I also got the banana tart which was SO good. It was not what I expected, but the flavors and textures were spot on. They have some benches on the side of their restaurant so if you do online order for pickup, I'd recommend trying to grab a spot there and eat the food fresh. I would recommend the baked goods and ube latte, not sure about the hot food until I can go back and try more menu items.

This is a fast casual spot so service was pretty fast. There is a decent amount of seating, most of which was surprisingly taken around 11am on a Thursday. For starters, they no longer have their rainbow cake! I was surprised to hear that considering how popular it's supposed to be. We got both banana lattes which were extremely sweet. It's basically dessert with a hint or caffeine. I'm a big fan of banana, so I actually liked this but I would've preferred half the sweetness. The Turkey Bacon & Egg Croissant was so good! A solid breakfast sandwich - the eggs were cooked perfectly, the turkey bacon was insanely crispy, and that sambal aioli was just what this needed. I highly recommend adding Avocado like I did for some freshness & creaminess since it's a heavy sandwich as is. The Cinnamon Roll was soft, moist, and not overly sweet. Overall, I really enjoyed this breakfast!
