Came here on a Sunday, and Eric was super unhelpful, rude, and dismissive. Completely ruined my day. He made it seem like I was an inconvenience even after I patiently waited 20 minutes in line to do a printing job. I had called in to multiple stores beforehand and came to this specific location because another employee confirmed over the phone that they could print on envelopes. It turns out not all FedEx locations print on envelopes since only certain employees are trained for it. (Why aren't they all for a printing store?) He wasn't sure it will even print right and didn't care to look further into it. He was more concerned about bringing down the line than making sure each customer was fully helped. He wasn't very nice to other customers either and suggested them going to Emeryville if they needed it today because he didn't have the time for it. I was so upset that I ended up walking out. One star - You're on your own here Came in to ship a package and somehow managed to feel invisible. Two of the three employees at the counter were just sitting on their phones. I waited about 10 minutes, then asked, "Hi, are either of you free?" One ignored me completely, and the other just walked to the back without saying a word. A bit later I asked again and got a "hold on" while they kept texting. Meanwhile, there was only one other customer the entire time and three people up front for about 20 minutes. At one point, another customer came in, and they went ahead and helped the person behind me while still ignoring me. Nothing dramatic happened, it was just clear they weren't interested in helping. If you're okay with being an interruption to someone's phone time, this might be your spot. I'll go somewhere else next time. read more

Something is strange about the pricing at this outlet. I called and asked the cost to send a one page document to a city adjacent to Guadalajara, Mexico. I was quoted three prices: $65, $50, and $16 depending on the speed of shipment. When we arrived at the Fedex on Shattuck, the woman (probably Chinese) stated that the price choice was $160 or $135. She stated that the phone information was erroneous. I had earlier called a DHL office on San Pablo (TM Express Mail) and had a quote for $50, so we went there. Now this is where it really gets interesting. This business also uses Fedex to make shipments. Their computer stated the cost of my letter to Mexico was $55! The Shattuck office of Fedex may be overcharging customers by more than a 100%. I will write an email to Fedex and file a Better Business Bureau complaint. BTW, we sent our letter on a Friday and was told it would take five business days. It arrived on the following Monday. We are completely satisfied with TM Express Mail. The office is cluttered with boxes but the service is honest. read more

I went in for passport photos for a Spanish passport in March. When I was assembling my materials today and doublechecked the size of the photos I realized they were too big and did not comply with the Spanish requirements. I went back to ask Fed Ex if they would make good on their error. Today's employee seemed to question my truthfulness about whether I had the photos taken and printed there (I had a screenshot of the credit card charge). She declined to redo them. I emailed a project to FedEx. However, when I went to pick it up, the order was completely messed up. I went back to the store and spoke with someone there. They spent two hours proving that the order was done correctly, except for a few odd pages. The person kept turning over piles and piles of the printed documents, then asking me if it seemed right. She kept trying to justify the I was so tired by the time I got to my office I couldn't even think straight so I went back through it today. It looked like they had double printed the order. And as I thought, some of the document and pages were printed on top of the start pages for the next document. So, I ended up with double the printing, and a real mess. She tried really hard to make it look like it was my problem. So disappointed, I won't go there again. read more

I rarely leave bad reviews but my experience at this location left me uneasy. First, the manager (I don't remember her name but she was a woman around her 50's or so) was rude and unwilling to help the customer ahead of me in line. The customer had paid for shipping online and had a label for the delivery. She said the shipment label came with a box. The manager immediately said with an unpleasant tone how the customer had to pay for a box separately. The box was $45 since she was shipping a laptop. $45 just for the box...even though the customer already pre-paid for it online. The manager didn't even search the label in their system or apologize/acknowledge the misunderstanding. Furthermore, she told the customer that she can't drop off the package to be delivered because the truck had already picked up all the packages for the day. Mind you, they changed their hours temporarily where they close at 6PM instead of 8PM on weekdays, and package drop off for deliveries ends at 4PM! There was no update on Yelp of its new hours. And no acknowledgement from the manager of the inconvenience with the new shift in hours. The customer seemed to need to send the package asap and was asking her options, and if she could leave the package and have it sent tomorrow. The manager was very stern and unwilling to tell the customer her options and wouldn't permit the package to be dropped off today. She said she had to come tomorrow to ship it. I find that very strange as USPS allows you to drop off packages as long as they are open, regardless of the delivery truck's schedule. Additionally, girl in front of me was very respectful and not entitled. She didn't deserve to be spoken to that way. When it was my turn to be assisted, the manager quickly changed her tone of voice to a bright and pleasant tone, which was unnerving after hearing the way she spoke to the girl before me. But upon letting the manager know I was picking up a package and had a barcode to scan to receive my delivery, she interrupted me and said with a stern tone that she needs to see my ID. What is the point of having a barcode to be scanned if she claims to need my ID only? Mind you, I was totally okay with providing my ID but she wouldn't even give me a chance to finish my sentence. She was on a weird power trip and even if she was (possibly) practicing the right protocol, her customer service was subpar. To be fair, maybe they can only give packages for pick up with an ID to validate. And maybe the girl in front of me had the shipment information wrong. But regardless, the manager was very unpleasant and rude. I'm not sure what the manager was on today but I will say, if the manager is practicing this kind of customer service, I'm discouraged to go to this location. And this review is coming from someone who's worked in customer service for years. I definitely hope the manager improves her customer service as I've had a good experience with another employee in the past. Overall, I'm giving 1 star for customer service and 1 star for passing off my delivery in a timely matter. read more

As expected, Fed Ex has backed out on it's commitment to pay on an approved claim of breakage of items shipped on their services, even when the Fed Ex employees packed the items and customers paid for the insurance. Case # assigned and customer service reps verbally confirmed check was issued and send to confirmed address, but 6 months later, no check and more empty promises. read more

This FedEx Center was efficient and well run. It was very busy when I walked in and there were several people at a register working with people. They were clear, professional and moving the line along. The manager (Debbie) would routinely look up and acknowledge the line, thanking everyone for their patience. She then went to each person in line and asked what they needed. If someone was able to get their needs met without waiting (ex. they had an addressed label and the package was ready to go), the manager took the package for them and took it to the back. I did not have a label, but she had me email the label to FedEx, went to a computer and printed it out for me so I would not have to continue to wait. I highly recommend this store, Debbie and those working at this store. read more

extremely rude and unprofessional customer service from one woman. i had a prepaid QR code to scan. I just needed a box to ship my return. the man helping me said I can have them pack it up with all these little extras like stuffing that I don't need so I declined and said I would just like the box and some tape. the man actually helping me said that was okay . I paid for the box and asked for the tape and a woman who had nothing to do with my transaction got unexpectedly loud and said "that's why we need to charge her for the standard!" which is about $12. APRIL 2020 - Major COVID-19 violation by employees! UPDATE: WED-4-8-2020: I went back to use the self-service copier to make my copy. At the time of day I was there, the sun was shining in my face and so I was unable to see the touch pad of the copy machine. So, I called for help and Theresa the store manager came over and I explained to her what was going on, but, she refused to help me stating that they need to stay 'socially distant' from customers. I totally respect that, but, funny thing, of ALL four employees as well as everyone else in the store, I was the ONLY person wearing a mask! In addition, Theresa and 2 of her employees were gathered together WITHOUT MASKS ON having conversation with each other! Yet, they refuse to come close to customer claiming 'social distancing' issues. I called FedEx to complain and when the District Manager called back she said that they had limited service to only self-service machines and if the customer was unable to work the machine then that was 'unfortunate'. Translation - "If you don't know how to work the machine, too bad - So Sad" ! She also said that they were "following CDC guidelines regarding masks", yet, social distancing has been going on for weeks now! What about following those guidelines with each other as well as customers? Finally, I told her, most of the employees were there doing nothing, so, if they were going to pay them to be at work doing nothing, why not pay them to do nothing at home where they can be a lot safer since they are SO concerned about the COVID-19 situation to not even help customers when they come in anyways? I guess she heard me because it now says that the store is 'Temporarily Closed" !!!! MON 4-6-2020: I had a 3-page word document I wanted to print out one copy. An associate asked me if she could help me and I told her I wanted to print out my document on card-stock paper and 3-hole punched. She said they had everything I needed at self-service. I said I did not want to do that and could she do it for me. She said she could not. It's no wonder they have such a low rating! District Manager needs to be told about these reviews. this place absolutely ripped sped so many times. i can attest that this place provides a collective 38, maybe 38.5 IQ score. Working together, they barely replicate the work of a single human. if you want your packages shipped at an appropriate cost and time go usps because at least they don't charge a months rent for a wonky box repair. i can guarantee you, you will lose about 1/3 of your brain cells and 100% of your happiness as you leave the store. I use FedEx Office on Shattuck at Allston, downtown Berkeley, Ca to do lots of copying, sending copies and sometime, I use their computers to print documents, etc. My experiences are their machines are always fully equipped to start for what I had to do. When I have computer questions, the manager Debbie is always willing to help. She is very knowledgeable, helpful and professional. Her entire staff are very nice and very helpful. I have been going there regularly for over a year, I never had a bad experience. On the contrary, I think it's a great store and well managed and staffed. NOSY + RUDE MANAGER!!!!!! I came in today for some prints and as oppose to experiencing professionalism from the whole crew on shift at this FedEx location, the manager demonstrated colloquial expressions toward their customers, like myself. But the employees behind the counter seemed friendly with smiles on their faces. One of the employees helping me was very kind to test print one of my jpeg files on my bristol papers. Then the NOSY AND RUDE MANAGER came over to see what I need prints of. He then asks me if my paper was Laser safe. I replied " well I had done prints at four other locations". His reply was so blunt as if i was in combat .. " You are not answering my question!" So chill MR., I am only back home for Winter Break. I have no idea if my bristol pad is safe for the printer, but neither did the manager. All I know is that I constantly have to make prints for one of my classes, and if the other four locations I have been so kind with no problem doing the prints for me, then why should he? Thats the explanation behind my answer, but I guess mr.general didn't accept my response because it is not what he wants to hear... Plus, he was beginning to list all the papers the printers does not take .... [ oh boy here we go with the long list] he only came up with ONE! 'water color paper.... AND ( * pause) .... paper like water color papers because the printers can't take them.... and theres a list in the handbook.' Went in to FedEx prescription medication to a family member vacationing in Canada. The FedEx rep took one look at it and said "nope" can't do it. I got halfway through asking why and she simply said, "Can't ship medication." Called a Canadian FedEx rep who said as long as it's in the original container from the pharmacy with the proper label, shouldn't be a problem. Went to the FedEx store on College ave. and they were confused as to why I was turned away previously. They were great and off it went. read more

Seeing as the location is located right in the middle of downtown I can forgive the fact that it's busy during peak times, but the fact that it's improperly staffed with such knowledge isn't something I can look past. I guess when or if you have a lot of extra time to ship something and even at times to drop off a readied parcel is when to come to this location, because if you are expecting a quick and smooth line and transaction, you're going to be mistaken. I can say that being the Downtown Berkeley location is demanding and I understand their lengthy queue. They will see me again as there's really nowhere else close to my work to go! read more

One of the to printers seems to be "temporarily out of service" most of the time, so be prepared to wait 20+ minutes.

I recently came to the store 30 minutes before closing with a package that I had previously sent via USPS but had been rejected by US Customs because of mistakes made by USPS. 'V' graciously helped me by carefully going through the whole process of weighing and recording all of my items so as to avoid the problems I had with USPS. He patiently explained the process of getting the package together and provided me with a price that was lower than the post office. He even repacked my items in the FedEx box. 'V' was highly professional and thoughtful and clearly deserves a promotion. read more

This is the slowest FedEx building I have ever been in. The staff is either on the phone completely sluggish, or talking to a friend that came into the store. I felt like I was at the dmv. This was my observation while in line. Once I finally got to the counter(I was the only person in line when I walked in, with 2 people being helped) twenty minutes later. I hate this place. Hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate HATE. Graphic design professionals and art directors...AVOID this armpit of copy centers and find some place else less frustrating. They have only ONE Mac station for rent, at the rate of 40 cents/minute. You will spend at least 3 minutes troubleshooting and searching for applications that are inadequately supported and improperly updated. You're better off bringing your own laptop ($0.10/min). I didn't bring my laptop, because I was stupid and naive and had too much faith in their crap machines. Stupid me!!! The display quality on the one monitor is crud. Crud as in overly bright (shoddy display was unresponsive to troubleshooting), with missing pixels and ghosting. No doubt the color is unreliable for doing any graphic work. The print quality on color printouts (whopping $1-$2 per printout) is yuck. Yuck as in wonky hue shifts due to not being calibrated properly, muddy output and ink boogers. Service is lackluster. I took the crappy printouts to the main desk to have them reprint, because they were utterly unacceptable, yet they cost me one month's phone bill. Stonefaced chick in charge told me I need to calibrate my file, which was utter bullshit. Listen chicky, I know my file. I'm not new at this. Chicky relented and printed some out, which were a little better but still not that great. I thanked the chicky. I had one more file to print and wanted it on nice paper, so I needed chicky to do it instead of using that crappy rent-a-printer. Chicky tells me that it'll cost me 15 bucks to have them convert my InDesign file to PDF. WTF???? Outrageous. I'll go convert it on their rental computer and be done with it. Rental Mac does not have Indesign 1, and Indesign 2 can't even open my file because it's missing a plugin. I find this out after spending $3. Is this what they do? Force people to waste 40 cents per minute troubleshooting their crap machines versus doing actual work? I took the damn file back to the main desk and told a different chicky that the application on their machine is fucked up, so I couldn't convert the damn file on my own. Different Chicky insisted that if they convert the file to PDF, it'll cost me $15. This is shit service. Shitty ripoff service. I walked out. read more
