They'll let you know the pick up times for UPS, USPS (think priority flat rate boxes), etc. so if you record the times in your contacts you can be sure to get your boxes out timely. It's kinda tucked away from the main road. Near the intersection of aiea bowl. Once inside, it has this really beautiful skylight design and the AC is strong. It felt so nice waiting in line; I never felt so good waiting in a PO line lol. The workers here are friendly and make small talk. It's cute. They have so many boxes out for people to take and even though there was a line, it went quickly. The guy scanned my QR code and took my box. It hasn't been scanned into the system though and it's been like 8 hours. I'm not sure how post offices work, but at the Ala Moana post office, the tracking on my packages starts only an hour or two after it's scanned. Idk why it's taking so long for this post office to start tracking my box. On my walk over, I noticed that there are quite a few hidden gems in the area. I am literally never in aiea, so this was a fun experience for me.

They have a minimum shipping fee of $50, which I found totally reasonable. They were very prompt in answering emails and sending update. When my package arrived at their warehouse they opened it to make sure everything was there and undamaged. They sent me a bunch of pictures to review. Their boat leaves every Friday and their website estimates 14 days to get to the big island. It took a bit longer but I'm sure that's because of the holidays. My package was delivered to the Ace Hardware in Hilo. My dad had absolutely no trouble picking it up. TL:DR - their service was great and an affordable price. They were very prompt with communications and my item arrived in great condition. If you are shipping large items and don't mind it going on a slow boat, this is an awesome company to use.

I called in the morning to inquire about the process since I have always received boxes from Japan but was never on the sending end. Shimizu answered all of my questions and assisted me when I was there. She made what seemed like a difficult process rather simple. The location is easy to find if you're familiar with the Halawa/Red Hill area or use GPS. There are an abundance of warehouses on the road leading to Yamato Transport's location which is at the end on the left-hand side. There are no designated parking spaces exclusive for the business in its shared lot. There is only one way in which is through a door that needs to be opened from the inside after pressing the button for service on the intercom. The box I used was purchased elsewhere but I was told they have select sizes available for $10. I sent my parcel via International TA-Q-BIN Eco which worked out for me since the contents were multiple of the same item. I left the box unsealed so the contents could be verified. You will need to complete data entry on their website in order for your stuff to be sent. While there is an English section on the main Yamato Transport website, the link for the data entry is purely in Japanese. If you're like me and can only read a handful of kanji, an employee will need to help you. I completed it on my smartphone while there. Payment is determined on the method that's selected at the end of the data entry process. My recipient opted to pay for everything, so I selected cash-on-delivery where he will pay the courier when he receives the box. In the end, I didn't have to pay for a thing (besides my box). Not sure if I will ever need to use the service again but it was definitely a good and interesting experience.

It was the Monday after New Years so I expected it to be busy with people returning gifts to Amazon. At 9:30 am the line was out the door with about 10 people outside and 5 inside. With only 2 reps working it went surprisingly quick. The third rep was helping someone at a table get a document notarized but after that she asked if anyone had just Amazon returns and was able to help them at the table. The reps here are very nice and efficient. Was able to complete my returns within seconds. All in all maybe waited 10 minutes from outside to being helped. Good job!
