    Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
    Jon H.

I've been hearing many GREAT things about Federal Donuts. From their donuts to their chicken sandwiches, I've been told I need to get there asap. We ended up visiting spur of the moment on a Thursday evening after grocery shopping for 4th of July. The location of this establishment is great, right on 73 and easily accessible with plenty of parking. We were the only ones there when we arrived but another couple soon came in after us. It was kept very clean and tidy inside and the staff was very kind. My fiancé had to get a bunch of gift cards for work prizes which is a tedious task and they had no issues helping out. Once I started looking at the menu I was a little surprised at the prices. $12 for a chicken sandwich and $4 for fries. There are numerous competitors where you can get a combo for less than the price of a Federal Donuts chicken sandwich by itself. I ended up ordering a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and Fries for takeout. I personally thought the sandwich was a little above average and the fries were good, but nowhere near worth the price point for both thin. I should have gotten a donut for the whole experience and now I can't really see myself going back as I think there are better, cheaper options very close by. Maybe my hopes and expectations were set a bit too high to begin with.

What can I write that has not been written about Federal Donuts & Chicken? I am just so happy that a federal has opened in South Jersey. I have been to the one in Center City on several occasions and have always been pleased. The chicken and the donuts are always excellent. The Marlton space is very nice and super clean. Love me some Federal Donuts & Chicken!

I am... underwhelmed. I had my first Federal Donut years ago at my first job in Philly. The agency had ordered some for the office and I thought they weren't bad - an interesting donut. So when they opened up a NJ location down the street from me, I was looking forward to trying them again. It was quite slow on a Sunday afternoon while the rest of the shopping center was bustling. I appreciated having multiple ways to view the menu: overhead signage, a paper menu, and a kiosk. I did the kiosk since it offered photos (so helpful!) However the rest of the experience wasn't super great. I didnt like that you couldn't build your own dozen/half-dozen and had to buy every donut individually. They offer you dozen and half-dozens only if you choose all donuts from the same price point. (They have normal and "fancy" which are another $0.50 each.) This felt so inconvenient as someone that was shopping for variety for a group and is used to the Dunkin Donuts model. Each donut averages around $2.50 a piece and are about the size of a medium adult palm, but seemed small to me in the box. (Or maybe their boxes are too large and make them seem so small lol) I also decided to try their chicken tenders and fries since they're known for them. The food took quite a bit longer than I thought was appropriate. A lot of workers stood around waiting along with me. I received half of my donuts in a bag, and the other half in a small box that wouldn't hold them all. Apparently this is because 2 are cooked fresh but I was unaware of that (and that for those there would be a wait.) I thought the decision to split the donuts in two containers was odd. I had to ask for a larger box to put them all together so I could bring them to a friends house later. The chicken tenders also were not my favorite. They look like frozen tenders that are battered on-site and flash fried to appear fresh. That's also how they tasted - half fresh, half "old"/frozen. The fries were OK, and the included donut with the chicken tender meal was so messy that it left a puddle of syrup in my box, and also was cold on the inside. Seeing as I waited for them to be cooked fresh, I was very disappointed. I spent, all in, $34. This didn't feel like a $34 experience or product. I may give them one more shot, but couldn't recommend at this point.

3 5 - 4... Finally got around to checking this place out. So many mixed reviews so I found out for myself. The donuts were good. I like the warm ones that are fresh made that come with the chicken strips. That one was really good. The chocolate covered one was okay. Probably should have just got a glazed. The chicken itself on the chicken strips and on the chicken sandwich I got was good. It was nice and juicy they make it fresh so it's hot. I like the crispy outside. Chicken sandwich again was good not run out and have to get it all the time good but it was good. Service was outstanding. Very welcoming very warm giving good advice as to what we should get since it was our first time there. Inside was nice a whole bunch of tables very clean. One big positive is the coffee. Very good coffee comparable to some of the big chains.

There is little seating nothing special. The menu here is small. The donuts are cake donuts and are a hard pass for me. Sadly this place fell real short of expectations. I wanted to give it a 1 star but .......

This new location in Marlton was good, easy to find and clean inside. The chicken sandwich was good although it could be a little bit bigger and it needed more sauce but overall it was good and fresh. The french fries were delicious they seemed to be fresh cut. Of course the donuts are very delicious! They are cake donuts but not heavy, they're light and smooth. Any donut is a good choice. It just depends what mood you are in. The staff was very friendly and conscientious.

Oil-soaked plain donut cut in half.

Donuts are oil bombs. Old, heavy almost rancid tasting oil bombs. Inedible. Shared them with family and they all thought the same. Cut one and you can see how much oil is soaked into the dough. The chicken in OK but there was hardly any coating so it was almost just fried raw chicken. Fries are great but portion is very small for the price.

Now full disclosure, this review is for one and one thing only and that's the Bobbie, their thanksgiving sandwich. Yes I could review other things, but the Bobbie is what makes them unique. I won't say it's world changing better than say a Wawa Gobbler, but it's available year round, and is great. The staff is friendly and kind, but the last three times I was there, I've sensed some hiccups in the logistics either for other customers or towards me -- I suspect these'll suss out in due time. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. The part of the review that nobody ever talks about: - Water: There's a self-serve soda machine with clean water - Restrooms: There are two single occupancy restrooms - Accessibility: It's all wheelchair accessible - Seating: Plenty of seating - Will it fill you up? Obviously for hoagies, you're kind of in charge of your destiny based on what you order. Compared to the normal hoagie, I'd say these are probably slightly smaller just since it's not processed meats and all, but still certainly fair and filling. - Dietary Notes: I mean, it's a Sandwich shop, the dietary notes you'd expect apply here, with one caveat. Unlike say a Subways or Jersey Mikes, you don't get to 'walk with your food' down the line as you build it, but rather, they build it in the back. So if you're picky over what goes on your Sandwich or want some of the control of seeing what's going on (i.e. cross contamination concerns), you won't get that degree of control here.

Especially in this WFH world, Jersey Mike's has always come through. Even during busier hours, the people who work there are really friendly and still know how to keep the line moving. Of course, we have to talk about the actual sandwiches here. If it's your first time, I recommend ordering turkey sub and asking them to prepare it "Mike's Way"; I usually never eat turkey sandwiches, but Jersey Mike's is the only exception to the rule. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu though. They don't skimp out on any ingredients; yet, the sandwiches are always prepared neatly to enjoy at home. With each bite, you can really appreciate the tastiness because everything is so fresh, so clean. 5 stars! Go here; don't go there.

I have to admit I haven't been much of a fan of Chegg in the very limited amount of visits I've had…read moreover the years. Recently some family members went for happy hour to watch a Phillies game, and they had a great time. We decided to give it another shot for happy hour. We really enjoyed ourselves and thought the value for what we ordered was outstanding. We arrived just after 5pm (happy hour weekly from 3-6) and were greeted by one of 3 bartenders who helped us throughout our visit (all 3 bartenders were great). I asked about their current down east cider on tap and she poured us a taster without having to request it. I ended up going with a happy hour dirty Kettle martini which ended up being super smooth. My wife had a Surfside, also on happy hour. The happy hour food consists of 1/2 price appetizers, fries, 10 piece boneless/bone-in wings and fingers. Drink wise it's $3 off all draft beer & house wine, $5 seltzers & teas, $7 margaritas, and $10 kettle & espresso martinis. I love a good deal and this is it! Chegg also has a fun Phillies special where each game there is a player of the game. If that player records a hit there are drink specials the remainder of the game! We ordered a bunch of food also on happy hour; Garlic Parm Boneless Wings, Fried Pickle Spears, Cheesy Bay Fries, and Bone-In Zapper Wings. I typically prefer smaller wings. These wings were on the bigger side and were meaty and juicy, but they were also crispy, cooked well throughout and not fatty. The wing sauce was really good! Very hot but not overbearing which is just what I was hoping for. The fried pickle spears were also a hit, and seemed to be breaded in house which is a huge plus if they were. The boneless wings were very good, however, we've had better Garlic Parm sauces elsewhere. Still nothing to complain about. After finishing my Dirty Martini I ordered a Jalapeño Margarita which was delicious. The bartender muddled jalapeño in the shaker prior to making the drink. It was limey and refreshing with a subtle jalapeño kick. Well worth the price tag and something I'd definitely order again. I finished up with one of my favorite all time beers, Tonewood Fuego (this drink not on happy hour). I mention this as all of this food and drink came out to ~$65. Again, value-wise I was impressed. I think Chegg has the potential to be great place to watch games. Their bar is very large with plenty of TVs throughout. They also have a great patio bar for beautiful days/nights. I'm sure during big Philadelphia sporting events the atmosphere is pretty great inside and out. I can definitely see myself coming back again for happy hour as the food and drink specials are great in my opinion. This was my first time at a Chegg happy hour. I still feel the prices are a bit high outside of happy hour. If you want decent bar food at a good price Chegg happy hour could be a place for you.
