My friend and I visited this establishment on Sunday, September 6, and unfortunately, our first impression was not a positive one. As we approached the hostess station, we were not greeted warmly or even with a smile. When I asked for a table for two, the hostess immediately told us there would be a 20-minute wait, even though the restaurant did not appear to be very crowded at the time. We also had a reservation, which she never asked about. Once we mentioned that we had a reservation, her demeanor seemed somewhat annoyed. I understand that everyone can have an off day, but the hostess is often the first person a customer encounters and plays an important role in representing the establishment. A warm greeting and welcoming attitude would have made a much better first impression, especially since this was my first time visiting. I honestly considered leaving a negative review based solely on the initial interaction. However, our server, Julia K.(5 stars), completely changed the experience. She was friendly, attentive, professional, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. The food was also great. Overall, I hope management takes the initial customer service experience into consideration because the food and service from Julia were definitely worth recognizing. With a more welcoming first impression at the hostess stand, this could have been an excellent first-time experience. read more

Stopped by Chicken or the Egg on Route 70 and had a really good meal. The giant soft pretzel was fresh, warm, and perfect for sharing. The wings were also excellent--cooked just right, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the visit. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service could have been a little better. It wasn't bad, but it felt a bit slow and could have been more attentive throughout the meal. I have to admit I haven't been much of a fan of Chegg in the very limited amount of visits I've had over the years. Recently some family members went for happy hour to watch a Phillies game, and they had a great time. We decided to give it another shot for happy hour. We really enjoyed ourselves and thought the value for what we ordered was outstanding. We arrived just after 5pm (happy hour weekly from 3-6) and were greeted by one of 3 bartenders who helped us throughout our visit (all 3 bartenders were great). I asked about their current down east cider on tap and she poured us a taster without having to request it. I ended up going with a happy hour dirty Kettle martini which ended up being super smooth. My wife had a Surfside, also on happy hour. The happy hour food consists of 1/2 price appetizers, fries, 10 piece boneless/bone-in wings and fingers. Drink wise it's $3 off all draft beer & house wine, $5 seltzers & teas, $7 margaritas, and $10 kettle & espresso martinis. I love a good deal and this is it! Chegg also has a fun Phillies special where each game there is a player of the game. If that player records a hit there are drink specials the remainder of the game! We ordered a bunch of food also on happy hour; Garlic Parm Boneless Wings, Fried Pickle Spears, Cheesy Bay Fries, and Bone-In Zapper Wings. I typically prefer smaller wings. These wings were on the bigger side and were meaty and juicy, but they were also crispy, cooked well throughout and not fatty. The wing sauce was really good! Very hot but not overbearing which is just what I was hoping for. The fried pickle spears were also a hit, and seemed to be breaded in house which is a huge plus if they were. The boneless wings were very good, however, we've had better Garlic Parm sauces elsewhere. Still nothing to complain about. After finishing my Dirty Martini I ordered a Jalapeño Margarita which was delicious. The bartender muddled jalapeño in the shaker prior to making the drink. It was limey and refreshing with a subtle jalapeño kick. Well worth the price tag and something I'd definitely order again. I finished up with one of my favorite all time beers, Tonewood Fuego (this drink not on happy hour). I mention this as all of this food and drink came out to ~$65. Again, value-wise I was impressed. I think Chegg has the potential to be great place to watch games. Their bar is very large with plenty of TVs throughout. They also have a great patio bar for beautiful days/nights. I'm sure during big Philadelphia sporting events the atmosphere is pretty great inside and out. I can definitely see myself coming back again for happy hour as the food and drink specials are great in my opinion. This was my first time at a Chegg happy hour. We placed an online order and selected a 1:30 PM pickup time. We arrived right at 1:30 and were told it would only be another five minutes. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting an additional 25 minutes for our food, and the staff seemed to have no idea what was going on with the order. We only ordered soup and French fries, so the long delay was especially frustrating. Better off going to the the LBI location. I don't understand why the online ordering system allows you to select a specific pickup time if the restaurant can't have the order ready anywhere close to that time. Outside of a traditional diner not sure where you can order a legit stack of pancakes and wings anyway you want them with your choice of hot and sweet sauces at the same time ( and a Ship Bottom beer on draft). We were seated quickly on a Saturday night even with the Flyers on and the food came out really fast which is solid for the little ones that may accompany you. Zapper sauce was tasty and had the kick that was advertised. Minimal sweat outside of the face tackling just 5 of em. Wings were breaded and meaty so no complaints there. I went there twice in one week ! Everyone enjoyed their food including my kids who loved their kids meals . One had a burger the other had the Drummies ( chicken nuggets) . In my 2 visits had the bee sting wings and breakfast tacos my first time and then a chicken cheese steak with bee sting sauce and blue cheese my second. I LOVED the wings ! Absolutely horrible service from Mckenzie. One of the worst I have ever experienced. There were 4 people at our table and she asked after each person ordered "okay is that all"....obviously one plate of wings is not a meal for 4 people. She never came to check on us, never asked if we needed anything. I called to ask for another waiter and he rolled his eyes and walked away. And then she just brought the check and tried to walk away. I asked her if she could please split the check two ways what each family ordered and she said "i don't remember what each of you got" so I gladly marked the bill to reflect each check for her. Please work on training for servers to have better customer service and attitude. She doesn't have to be perfect but she can be kind. I understand if she was slammed with multiple tables, but she had 3 tables and the others were looking around for her as well. We old timers from Beach Haven knew Chicken or the Egg as the somewhat bizarre breakfast/lunch joint that made customers sign a liability release before participating in a Ludicrous Chicken Wing Eating Contest. Many of us accepted the challenge and promptly lost our shit when the spice quotient was so off the charts that it blew out our mouths in flames. The newer CHEGG in Marlton is a lovely hangout, more sports bar than full blown wing spot, still capable of blowing you up, but less dependent on that gimmick to bring you in the doors. The menu is broad and deep, with plenty of choice any time of day. My son and stepson still wanted to try the killer wings, but were smart enough to order real food as well if the Ludicrous Wing contest fell apart, as it inevitably did. One had a Turkey Wrap, and the other a Standard Burger and French Onion Soup. Those five conflagrationary wings proved too much to consume even with multiple glasses of milk to extinguish the fire, came home as three, with full episodes of gasping, sweating, tearing, moaning and running to the restroom. Their other food was fine, if not exceptional, and my Farmers Breakfast Melt (eggs, sausage, ham, onion, pepper, cheese) in a bowl, actually a quite good first meal of the day. Better than I recall available in Beach Haven. So, the Marlton shop is an upgrade for sure, with plenty of space in either large barroom or separate dining areas. Colorful, loud rock, and friendly servers in black Ts, making the experience as attractive as possible. Although close to an hour from home in Bucks, worth the trip to Jersey for the fun and flames. We agreed we would come again, despite the $100+ price tag for the three of us without a bar tab. read more

Despite the inside being empty, there was a wait (I'm assuming due to short staffing). I ordered the 10 wings with the ludicrous sauce. The waiter suggested I order one step down (the obscene) since the one I wanted is insanely intense to the point it isn't enjoyable. The obscene had a very strong kick and I did sample the ludicrous sauce and holy moley was that thing HOT. I'm so surprised by the amount of poor reviews on here! My friends and I came last night for dinner and drinks, we had an awesome experience. Our server Des was so sweet and kept checking on us to make sure we were good on drinks. Started with the nachos, which were great! Loaded with toppings and a perfect shareable. I got the BCW with their "Beesting" sauce (reminded me of a more mild version of hot and honey) which was delicious. The fries were perfectly crispy. Great drink menu with a lot of options on tap, good mixed drink menu as well. After our meal we hung out in the outdoor area where there were couches, fire pit seating, and cornhole. We spent a beautiful Mother's Day here with my brother, sister-in-law, niece and her boyfriend. The menu was extensive. It took us a long time to decide what to eat. I ended up just settling for a vegetable omlett. It was a good size with a side of home fries and toast. That was the only meal we had all day and it kept me full. The other meals were just as filling. The atmosphere of this place was beautiful. We sat outside on a sunny, 70 degree weather day. There were big screen TVs outside playing sports. We came in as a larger party and service was great!! 8 peoples orders and we did not wait a million years for food, drinks, boxes, or a bill. Food was solid, pancakes were a hit all around (blueberry, chocolate and jersey) and the cinnamon bun French toast is not to be missed for French Toast fans. Only thing that came up is a personal issue, not anything on establishment. My older son is ASD and it was louder than he liked but we solved this by getting his noise canceling headphones from the car.
