My family and I are big donut people, so anytime a new spot opens up, it immediately goes on our list. We recently checked out Happy Place, and after hearing some pretty solid things, I was definitely excited to finally give it a try.
First impressions were great. The place is very clean, very polished, and clearly designed with a modern, Instagram-friendly vibe in mind--but it doesn't feel cold or overly trendy. It actually manages to strike a really nice balance between modern and welcoming. It's bright, inviting, and just a pleasant place to walk into. The staff was also very friendly, which always sets the tone right from the start.
They have a beautiful display case, and the donuts genuinely look fantastic--colorful, creative, and very tempting. It was also fun being able to watch them make the donuts fresh, which adds to the overall experience. The setup is somewhat similar to places like build-your-own style donut shops, where you have a base donut and then different toppings and finishes, but everything here is essentially pre-designed and ready to go, which makes ordering quick and easy.
We went a little overboard (as you do when everything looks good ) and ended up getting two dozen donuts, about 20 "munchkin"-style bites, and a couple of iced coffees so we could try a wide variety.
And then came the total... $97.
That was definitely a bit of a shock.
Pricing is probably the biggest drawback here. You're looking at around $30 per dozen, roughly $10 for 9 munchkin-style bites, and about $6 per iced coffee. It adds up very quickly, especially if you're bringing a family and want to try a variety.
Once we got everything home, the kids absolutely went to town. My son crushed about six of the munchkins without hesitation, and my daughter immediately locked in on anything with a cream filling--which brings me to one small note: the Boston cream donut was good, but since they inject the filling through the center hole, it can drip out if you don't hold it just right. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of.
As for the donuts themselves, the base donut is solid--no complaints there at all. Soft, fresh, and well made. The different varieties are creative, but you can tell many of them share that same base with different toppings layered on (for example, the carrot cake donut is essentially the base with cream cheese frosting added). Still good--just something to note if you're expecting wildly different textures or flavors across the board.
One thing worth mentioning is that the donuts are on the smaller side, which makes the pricing feel even a bit steeper.
Logistics-wise, they have a huge parking lot, which is great, but the driveway entrance is a bit tight. There's also a drive-thru that looks like it can handle a ton of cars, which is nice if you're just grabbing something quick.
Overall, Happy Place delivers good donuts in a really nice, clean, and inviting environment, but the pricing makes it feel more like an occasional treat rather than a regular stop. I'd definitely go back for one or two donuts here and there, but probably not for another full family-sized order. read more
