My frankfurter was handed to me by a cook in a cool cardboard box. I felt the warmth of the dog and the heft of all the elote, crema and queso. I was glad it was hot because I had an hour drive home before I would get to consume it. Yes. I loved every bite. The hot dog was pleasantly garlicy with a snap from my incisors. The roll held up its end of the bargain with no loss of support for its contents. The corn mix was cheesy while sweet from the kernels. When dining at ITA, like always, we always have to order a variety of dishes to split. We started with a perfectly cooked Oven Roasted Cauliflower appetizer. Split 3 different pastas: a rich & savory Carbonara (probably the star of the night), a gorgeous cavatelli with tender wild boar ragu, and a spicy but balanced capellini with spare ribs. All of their pasta, of course, is made in house and is beautiful and rustic, and is always cooked perfectly Al dente with a great bite. The combination of the creaminess of the sauce, the saltiness and texture of the guanciale, and the doneness of the tagliolini; led us to agree that the Carbonara was our favorite. We were split on the other two, but you can't go wrong with any of the pasta dishes on the menu. We've never had one we weren't blown away by. The entree we chose was a fluke stuffed with shrimp and served over a bed of shiitakes. The crust on the fluke was to die for and the presentation couldn't have been better. ITA is always such an elevated dining experience. You'll be hard pressed to find local, authentic Italian food that is as unique as it is here. There are a couple things we really love about it here other than what I've already mentioned earlier in this review. First, it's great that it's BYO as it helps offset the prices (which are well worth it for the quality of food served) as we can split and enjoy a nice bottle of wine with dinner. Second, the menu is constantly rotating every week and part of their menu highlights and features different regions in Italy. There are always new menu items we've never had before. It didn't have much chicken, I didn't notice any of the cheese or avocado ranch that was supposed to be on it. It was full of shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. My BF said his turkey sandwich had no taste either and he wasn't sure it had what it said it should have on it. Very little turkey, undercooked, limp bacon and bread he said that was stale. Savannah offers job, social & life skill opportunities to adults with disabilities by employing them. Some of, if not most of her staff, are disabled adults getting the chance to learn how to work and speak to customers professionally. I was able to witness her coaching a staff member through our transaction today, She is truly kind and so patient. It was a lovely experience. I picked up 6 cake bombs (I think thats what they were called), A S'mores cookie, and a massive chocolate brownie. I would have gotten a lot more baked goods, however the only other option was cupcakes and I'm just not a cupcake person. They seemed to be almost cleared out by the time I could make it in! The cake bombs were moist inside, the brownie was soft, chewy, and chocolatey, and the cookie was fresh and soft. The building is cute with hand painted murals on the windows that correspond to the current holidays/seasons. A few picnic tables outside with buckets of chalk for the kids to draw on the concrete and corn hole! I only wish I had some shade to sit under out there, it was hot and bright today.
