The interior was quite nice and the menu had a variety of options, but what seemed to stand out was the seafood combo. We ordered the seafood combo and were surprised with how small and lackluster the half-filled, tiny bowl was in comparison to the photo that was shown online. We unfortunately didn't take a photo, but there was only about 2 pieces of everything in the list (except for the sausages which were missing). They charged us $20 for the combo and $2 for a side of rice. Neither of us felt full by the end but we decided not to order more as $20 for such an unsubstantial amount was already enough, especially for college students. Overall, the servers were very nice, but I wouldn't want to come back. There are definitely many other places to get your money's worth. My friend and I were highly disappointed. read more

My wife and I stopped here for lunch today because I love Cajun food and I saw Yelp was promoting them so I gave it a try! The place is obviously new and very clean. We were greeted and sat immediately at a table. The waitress explained the menu to us and we ordered chicken wings and potato fries from the fried basket portion of the menu, both Cajun style, of course. I also ordered the house stir-fried egg noodle from the Chef Special portion of the menu. I also added the soup of the day which was some kind of vegetable soup with meat chunks in it. The soup came out immediately. It had good flavor but it was a little above room temperature which made it not as appealing. It had a large bone in it that obviously helped the flavor. I was hungry so I ate it all but the temperature definitely needs to be hotter in my opinion. The fries came out next and they were great! They are smallish fries but have a nice crispy quality to them and the Cajun flavor made them bold. The fried chicken flavor was good but they were difficult to eat because they were insanely hot and fresh. I am more of a drumstick kind of guy but the overall flavor was good. I enjoyed the skin and flavoring from the Cajun rub that was on them. My favorite item was the noodles, hands down. There were three meats in it that included pork (I think), beef, and shrimp. I loved the house flavor that it was cooked with. The noodles were very well done and the entire meal was surprisingly filling considering that we were splitting everything. The big thing that is disappointing about this place is that it's not very Cajun oriented. It is MUCH more East-Asian than anything else. It seems like the only thing that had anything Cajun about it was the rub. I was hoping to find a place in Davis that had one of my favorite meats, gator. Maybe the dinner menu has more Cajun-style foods on it. I think the Cajun part of the restaurant is misleading but the food is great! Worst place I have ever been in Davis, The manager or the boss is very unprofessional. When I called their restaurant and told them that seafood was undercooked basically it was not properly cooked and the fried ones are overcooked, the lady told me her boss will call me the same day but never got any call next 2 days and I called again and told the story and couple hours later I got a message from their boss/manager saying they won't refund my money once the food eaten but they will give me 10$ gift card from their. First of all I did not eat the food I clearly told the lady I can bring the food that same day I called but they didn't let me to do that, and I throw them away after keeping and waiting their call for 2-3 days. Super great new addition to Davis! I think I am now pretty much complete here. This is located right next to i-tea. So this place has an interesting mix of food. It's nice that their menu offers such a nice wide variety. They range from HK style breakfast Cha Chang tang to some regular Chinese dishes and then to your Cajun seafood. We've only come here for the HK style breakfast so far and I think it's pretty good. At least now we don't have to drive all the way to Sacramento! I love how they have the set meals and the prices are super reasonable. I do feel like the portions are on the smaller side, but nonetheless, just order more :) they have a good variety of drink choices that come with the set meals which other restaurants don't really offer. Some examples of breakfast offered is the fried donut (a couple of pieces), congee, chow mein, spam and egg instant noodle. You can choose between many different types of noodles as well. As is most cases during these times, Changes are made that are uncomfortable for both establishments, as well as for the customers they curtail. Despite this understanding, it is still disappointing to see an establishment - that has a composition along with an execution which makes it not only stand out among other establishments in the same city, but is actually desired for what they offer(and not just another option) and yet suddenly the establishment forgets their own success. As a restaurant named "Cajun Chicken", why would chicken (that is perfectly cooked) be left un-seasoned, let alone not come with the cajun seasoning, on the chicken or on the side( although any chicken place worth their experience knows the importance of seasoning ontop of meat while it is still steaming). This is not a disgruntled one time customer. I consistently ordered, every week, because of 1. They are the only establishment in town that offers this niche 2. They cook delicious chicken (which is usually left unseasoned) 3. They have a weekly special( that has changed to nearly 10 dollars ) Yet now the chicken has come either cold, or unseasoned. Their weekly special is nearly ten dollars, but also reduced inthe amount (of minced beef sauce, the size of corn they will provide you, which is also left unseasoned? Oyster sauce, etc) and for some reason, they now cut their Chinese donuts into pieces?? ‍ anyone from Beijing or HK knows the problem with this. We stumbled to this restaurant in UC Davis campus for some quick and easy food and surprisingly it was really good and not expensive at all. We ordered deep fry oysters as appetizer and they were fresh. Stir-fried yellow rice was flavourful and their Hong Kong style milk tea was exceptional! Could hardly imagine to find some very authentic HK style Cha Chan ten milk tea in a campus setting. Saw someone ordered a big beer tower as well for friends gathering. This is now my go place in Davis! Food was so good. Fried to perfection and nicely spiced. A group of us shared many appetizers, including Cajun fried Shrimp, Oysters, Calamari, and Wings. We also ordered a noodle and fried rice dish. It was not expensive and we finished all of it. The service is quick and the ladies working there were very friendly. Came to pick up some Cajun popcorn chicken as I had a craving and it has great reviews, and the reviews are right! The chicken was delicious and it was a great price ($7) for 15 pieces. The Cajun flavor is not your typical spicy flavoring, it's very savory and has kind of an umami flavor in my opinion. I loved it. I think the texture of this popcorn chicken is a bit different than what most people are used to, it's not the really tough crunchy popcorn chicken. It's more airy and light but still has a little crunch to it. I will definitely be back and will try something new! read more

They have a spice level "hell" which is less spicy than even "mild" level in some restaurants. Basically there was almost no "cajun" flavor in the calamari and chicken wings we took. I was looking for a new place to try in Davis and stumbled across this spot through Yelp that I had never seen before and was in a part of downtown I didn't even know had shops around. I was greeted by wonderful people at the counter who were very accommodating when we decided to sit down and dine-in as it took us awhile to go over the entire menu which was a strange mix of Chinese dishes and Cajun-style offerings. Me and my friends decided on ordering the beef skewers and cajun popcorn chicken and some drinks(HK milk tea and coffee milk tea). I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meat used for such a cheap price but I do have some criticisms about the two dishes in particular that we ordered which contrasted each other. The chicken was extremely well cooked but underseasoned IMO with cajun seasoning and the beef skewers on the other hand were nicely seasoned and cooked well but not what I would expect from Chinese BBQ skewers. Both dishes as well left such sweet aftertastes in my mouth that my milk tea that I ordered with the meal didn't even taste sweet anymore. I feel like the chicken could slightly be improved if it lived up to the label of being cajun more and having more spice rather than sweetness. To continue the point, the BBQ skewers I feel need more heat, not in seasoning but in the cooking process. BBQ skewers need some char to introduce some bitterness and smokiness to the dish, unless they cook them in some other way that would not allow this. I don't want to be that guy telling them how something should be seasoned or cooked but I feel that there is a lot of wasted potential in what we tried today. Hopefully they take my recommendations into consideration as I would love to keep coming back here for their extensive menu and nice atmosphere. read more

Waited all week to visit this place with a friend because the menu looked promising and the interior looked beautiful. We were promptly beckoned in and seated by a waitress while we browsed the menu from outside. She gave both of us menus and explained the options a bit. Then she turned to my friend, asked her if she spoke Canto, and proceeded to address only her from then on. I presume she was explaining the menu to her, but I wouldn't know because I was excluded from the exchange. My friend also seemed confused when I Iater asked her about the conversation. We ordered the $20 combo and were surprised to see how little was actually in it. I now know from the owner's comment on another post that combos are meant to be individual servings, but we definitely did not know that. Maybe I would've made a wiser choice if the server actually talked to me? After seeing the other reviews, we clearly were not the only ones unaware of this. The food itself tasted alright. I especially liked the broth. But I left still feeling a little hungry, and that's not a good feeling when you've just spent over $20 on a meal. Second of all, the staff seemed like she really didn't care enough to explain the menu to us when we asked how to order. Lastly, even their signature fried chicken was bad. Everything and I do mean Everything we ate was amazing. I ordered the Garlic Noodle deluxe with BBQ pork and Chicken, fresh and delicious. The appetizer of Cajun Popcorn Chicken was super crispy, well flavored and super fresh. My coworker tried the eggrolls and cooked perfectly crisp, fresh and absolutely not oily at all. Her lunch dish was a rice noodle with a house special sauce with chicken and chicken wontons. Just by chance the owner and his wife really helped explained the menu concept and gave excellent and helpful suggestions. We felt very welcomed and definitely going back and probably this Friday LOL. We also had the apple bites......OMG!!! It was like a beignet filled with apple filling topped in powdered sugar. This is for the mapo tofu $15.40 There are a variety of non-traditional ingredients in it like carrots peas and giant green peppers in great amounts and they were not poggers for me. Please list on the menu that they have those extra ingredients inside! The sauce was ok, but not spicy (sadly as expected), but the amount was tiny barely enough for the tofu - not enough for the giant box of rice. I'm guessing the huge box of rice wasn't for the mapo but for whatever you want to eat later, they give you a giant box of rice for the side. The tofu was super watery, like I drank a whole water bottle from the tofu blocks. Big con because all the water from the tofu made it hard to taste the already thin sauce. They serve all sorts of fried food: chicken, fish, shrimp, fries, etc. Unfortunately, I couldn't even try their food because they fry everything in the same oil, which causes cross contamination with shellfish. I verified this with the staff person at the counter. If you have a shellfish allergy, like I do, please avoid this restaurant.
