The Cajun chicken entree 4 pc. was the highlight-- the skin is flaky and well seasoned and the meat falls off the bone. The Cajun popcorn chicken is your decadent, bite-sized crunchies that will quench any cravings you have for chicken. The roasted chicken with rice plate wasn't comparable-- the meat was noticeably dry and we had somewhat neglectful pieces that made up of mainly bone. The food and service here is always amazing! They have a strange mix of Cajun and Asian food at the same restaurant, but the two dishes I had tasted very well made! Although their Cajun Fried Chicken did have a strange underlying taste, as if they happened to fry their seafood in the same oil. That taste wasn't present in their Cajun Popcorn Chicken though. Yo - this place is L E G I T!!! We had a hankering for fried chicken and was about to drive out to Elk Grove when my friend suggested Cajun Feast! Best decision ever - saved us an hour drive in traffic and we gorged ourselves on chicken! First things first - the Cajun Fried Chicken! We bought both the Cajun Fried Chicken (4 pcs), and the Saturday Special Cajun Chicken with Rice (2pcs + corn + soda + rice). The fried chicken is legit - super crunchy exterior with a juicy interior! The portions are HUGE too for the price and included both drums and breasts! My fiance is Filipino and he agreed that this place tasted like a better Jollibee's - a huge compliment coming from him! We also got the Cajun Popcorn Chicken. I might be getting ahead of myself, but I think Cajun Feast has laid claim on offering the best popcorn chicken in all of Davis. Extra compliments that the popcorn chicken survived a 20+ minute doordash ride to my house and stayed hot and crispy - to me this is a sign that they use a bomb ass breading mix that may include an alternative to flour, possibly potato or tapioca starch! Just tried Cajun Feast through Doordash and my overall experience was meh. I ordered their 'create your own plate' ; their chicken special; and potstickers. The chicken plate was delicious. So good and well worth the price of $8 (on DD). It came with a drink, side of rice, and a good portion of chicken in this delicious sauce. The 'create your own plate' was a big disappointment. I got bbq pork with wide noodles. The noodles tasted and smelled like licorice weirdly and tasted like chemicals. The bbq pork and stir fry veggies, in a similar "gravy" as the chicken, was good. I wish I knew it came with this gravy, on the app it said the sauce would be separate (sauce I never got btw) and it didn't match well with the bbq pork. It was quite difficult to find parking since this place is located right by UC Davis and with it being a college town, it was also busy at the time. The place itself doesn't have its own parking so we had to park kind of far but managed to do so. I saw a lot of people recommend this place on Tik Tok and decided to try it. They have a good selection of Chinese cuisines and Cajun food. We ordered some Cajun Fries which were AMAZING. The spicy Mayo dipping sauce or whatever that was, was so tasty. We also got their Garlic Noodles and some Crawfish of course. The noodles were buttery and delicious. The crawfish was pretty big in size but the sauce was a bit lacking in flavor but it was still really good. It's a cute little spot and our server was pretty nice too. I ordered a value meal "Cajun Roasted Chicken Plated Rice". The food I received was nothing like what was presented in the menu. I've had this dish before management change, so I know what it is supposed to be like. They served 2 small slices of broccoli, 3 fried chicken thighs, and 2 scoops of white rice accompanied with cranberry sauce and a singular soy sauce packet as condiments for the food. I was honestly confused by the food because it didn't resemble the images presented on muncho app and was a downgrade of what it was like prior. East Asian dishes don't use cranberry sauce as dipping sauce for chicken dishes, which threw me off. I was disappointed from being catfished by the menu image, but still ate because I paid for it. Additionally, I was expected to pay tips when I was supposed to bus/clean my own table. I am confused who I am tipping. A friend of mine suggested this place and I was intrigued by the combination of Cajun and Hong Kong Style/Asian cuisine similar to Asian n Cajun in Sacramento and Fair Oaks. It was quite busy when I arrived on a Friday night. The gal at the register seemed pretty new as another gal next to her kept giving her instructions, which was cool. The menu has traditional Cajun fare and a separate menu with more traditional Chinese options like Mongolian Beef and etc. They also had Hong Kong Milk Tea, which struck my fancy. I thought it was a bit weird that a lot of their drinks were strictly hot like the milk tea and charged an additional 50 cents to make an iced version. Huh? Also, they don't allow the meal deal with soup and a drink for an extra $1 as a to-go order, which was kind of a bummer. Just strikes me as an above and beyond effort to go super cheap. Anyhow, I order my food and the gal next to the gal next to the register writes down the order, but I'm standing there for another few minutes before they actually ring me up for payment. I come back about 25 minutes later and it looks like the order is ready. I told one of the gals up front what I ordered and she walked up to the only prepared to-go order, like she was going to hand it to me, but ended up walking around the counter to get another gal who just walked in and out of the kitchen before actually handing me my order, which was odd. So this place is definitely a bit disorganized and has some growing pains. When I get home and open the two boxes, I see a giant portion of rice and was a bit confused. Then I open the second box, I see the Tomato Beef plate I ordered. I ordered 2 Tomato Beef plates that came with rice, so I assume this is just two portions rolled into one? It was a bit confusing because the rice looked like a portion for two, but the tomato beef container definitely did not, especially for the price paid, which was $9 per plate. I had to call and confirm that this order was indeed for two. I think if you're going to combine the orders, you should ask first, otherwise it's kind of a pain to divide if say, you're ordering for a friend or coworker. It just seems like another way to go cheap and skimp on portions when ordering the same item. This place is so freaking good. My partner and I tried this out for the first time and wow. My favorites were the Cajun wontons and apple pie bites. My partner had one of the noodle dishes and loved it. The service was excellent. Super sweet people who care a lot about their restaurant and customers. I was actually on my way to lunch at iTea when I noticed this place just opened. Called up my gf and suggested we try it since it's new and seafood! As soon as we walked to the entrance of the place, a server beckoned us in with a menu and free tea. Super friendly customer service. We were seated and went over the menu and the Cajun Feast combo #1 caught our eye. Looked super delicious online according to their pictures. 10 minutes later it came out, we were pretty disappointed at how sad it looked. Don't get me wrong, the seafood tastes good but I question their decision to charge these prices, open up this close to campus where most of their clients will be broke students, and have such meager portions. If you want seafood, there are better options right next door in Sacramento where there are substantially bigger portions for a decent/moderate price (Joe's Crab Shack comes to mind). Here's what 1/4 pound of shrimp, 1/4 lb of clams, 1/4 pound of mussel, 1/4 lb of snow crab, and with 2 pieces each of the sausage & potatoes, and 1 piece of corn looked like in our dish: 3 decent shrimps, 2 tiny crawfish, 4 clams (with 2 emptied), 2 mussels, 1 crab claw, 1 small red potato cut in half, 2 discs size of corn (definitely not 1/4 slice sized corn either, way smaller), and two mini thin deli sliced andouille sausage pieces (a bit thicker than pepperoni slices). Not really the way they picture their dish online, portion wise we had better elsewhere for the price, so yes it sadly seems misleading. When we finished eating our seafood combo, side of rice and fries, I was still super hungry. If it comes down to seafood, I really don't think I'll be coming back. First impressions! Wow! This place was packed! And all the food on the tables looks great! People seem to be enjoying it. We waited maybe 10 minutes for a table, only downside is there isn't really a place to wait and being January outside didn't look good! However it was lunch time, a wait is totally understandable! I came with two seafood lovers and they ordered the $20 combo and another dish to share. You could definitely share the combo but I wouldn't say it would fill two people... it looks like a lot of food when they list off the weights on the menu but remember it's a lot of shell fish.. shells are heavy... so it's not a lot of meat. The only disappointing part with the combo is they won't let you swap the corn and potato for sausage (they're the same price) it would be a nice option for those trying to avoid starch or follow a keto diet! I tried their customised dish, This is perfect for trying low carb, it's also great value. They have veggies as an option in starches which is wonderful for someone avoiding rice / noodles I got their fried tofu as my protein option - I'm not vegetarian but I'm a sucker for fried tofu!! It was great texture wise and tasted great, they have many sauce options you can go for something sugary, curry, garlic.. whatever you fancy. I went to Cajun Feast for dinner on a Friday night. One of my friends recommended it since she loved the taste of the garlic noodles, one of the many sides they offered. The place was busy but still had 1-2 empty tables when my friend and I arrived at 6:15ishpm. We got seated and offered a choice of cold water or hot tea. My friend got hot water on request. I got the hot tea and it tasted like a traditional dim sum restaurant's tea option- comforting and warm. We ordered garlic noodles, steamed veggies, and beef chow fun. The servers were friendly and helpful. As we waited, we noticed how loud the restaurant actually was. The place was 80% full and there's a decent amount of space, but I had to raise my voice to talk to my friend across the table. Since the tables are metal and the walls and chairs are wood, I think the sound just bounced off more than in other restaurants I've been in. The food came after 10 minutes or so and the portions for the price were pretty impressive! Only $5 for garlic noodles!! The food was actually really delicious and we were stuffed after finishing the dishes. The beef from the beef chow fun was tender. The steamed veggies had a nice variety, which balances out the inherent oiliness of the garlic noodles. Garlic noodles had good flavor. My only gripe would be slow service on my drink refills. The servers were constantly bustling around, which is understandable for dinner time, but I had to ask every single time for a refill after waiting several minutes with an empty cup. It's a small complaint though, and it won't prevent me from coming back to try more dishes. Maybe offer tea pots like in traditional Chinese restaurants or even refillable water bottles like in Korean restaurants. That way the servers can focus on taking orders and serving food and not on small things like refilling water cups. Merely a suggestion! For those with any hearing disabilities, though, it might not be the best space to hang out, only because the restaurant's furniture really amps up the sound. Love the location and accessibility is great. The customer service is elite and warming. They bring out paper boats(to dump your shells into), hot tea, and wet wipes . My son and I ordered: shrimp skewers, chicken skewers, one pound of king crab(lemon cajun-mild), $20 seafood combo(cajun season-mild), and garlic noodles. The garlic noodles were very greasy and simple spaghetti pasta. Wasn't really impressed by it, sorry. But my son devoured the king crab, which came with potatoes and sausage. I enjoyed the seafood combo but the crawfish tasted like it was freezer burned. But the rest was delicious. The shrimp were plump and juicy. The cajun was just right! Had to ask for a glass of water a few times. I think this place is great for small plates and a date. I've also had issues with consistency, sometimes things are okay and sometimes the food is super mediocre. Also, I usually don't mind, but the service here is pretty unfriendly. Let me preface this review by saying I didn't order any of the cajun food (on the left side of the menus?). Therefore, my critique of them will be excluded from this review. I eventually plan on returning to try their cajun food and update this review or make a new one altogether. This place opened up in early January 2020 next to the wildly popular iTea in Davis. Based on the name of the restaurant, I thought it would be a strictly cajun-based restaurant but was surprised to see that they offer Asian dishes as well. Based on the reviews written before this one, I didn't know what to expect. Based on my recollection of the menu, they offer cajun dishes, "chef choices" (I think all Chinese-Asian dishes?), and a build-your-own dish option. I ordered one of the "chef choices" dishes to-go: Mapo Tofu with rice (see attached photo). Mapo tofu is traditionally (I think) made with tofu, ground beef, chili oil, doubanjiang, Sichuan peppercorns, and scallions for the garnish. The restaurant's version of mapo tofu covered most if not all of the bases with a few additions: jalapeños and peas/carrots for the garnish. As expected, the dish was spicy and the tofu was very silky. For those worried about the spiciness, the spiciness is transient and fleeting which helps make the dish more enjoyable. I'm not sure as to how I feel about the jalapeños addition because the spiciness was mostly from the chili oil and the doubanjiang. My only complaints about the dish are as follows: 1) There didn't seem to be enough peppercorns as I barely tasted them when I ate the dish. The spiciness from Mapo tofu is generated from the chili oil (provides a "scorched" taste bud sensation) and the peppercorns (provides a numbing effect). Upon closer inspection of the dish, I could barely see any traces of the peppercorns. 2) I would've preferred if the dish was more saucy. There didn't seem to be enough sauce to generously coat the tofu cubes and the rice. Despite these flaws, this restaurant is new (at the time of this review) and the chef(s) will probably be tweaking the menus in the upcoming months. For a college town restaurant, the dish was really good and I got my "bang for the buck" (the portion size for mapo tofu is generous and fills you up). I definitely will eventually return to this restaurant to try their other food options. read more

Besides the sign and new stone mini fire fixtures in the front, it does not look like much. However, this place is a little gem. I only tried some of the deep fried goods and the lightly sweet soymilk, but they were all really satisfying. The Cajun powder is definitely their "magic powder". For those who are picky about their Cajun spices, no--it is not authentic. But it tastes really good. It has that delicate Asian umami goodness that you can't compare to any Asian-cajun places like boiling crab, etc. and it gives some homemade Asian food vibes which I really enjoyed. The Cajun chicken was not dry at all-- came out hot and juicy. Same for the wonton (the hot juices burn the mouth so wait a bit before eating these goodies). The shrimp batter was fluffy and crispy on the outside. All were not overly salted and they also give extra magic powder on the side if you want it saltier but I didn't think it needed it. The spicy Mayo sauce on the side was also a very nice touch (I forget which dish it was served with but eventually I used it for all ). I loved the chicken so much I came back a few hours later to try their Cajun popcorn chicken which was just as good. The lightly sweetened soymilk is very refreshing-- you taste the fresh soybean without feeling the grainy texture. It was perfect. If I lived closer, I would've gotten a bottle too. The service was just right, what is expected of any food place near the college; not too overbearing, clean and still welcoming and helpful. The beef skewers were really sweet and didn't meet the same expectations as classic Taiwanese skewers does. The Cajun fries came out soggy and unevenly spiced. It came with a spicy mayo but all you could taste was like dipping your fries in straight mayo. The pork dumpling was on the sweeter side, the broth was tasteless and the egg noodles, well, nothing too special. Hk style crockpot rice - the one I had was steam chicken with rice. FYI the crockpot they have pork spareribs with black bean sauce and they have home made cured meat and anchovy for the authentic flavors if you like but need to call a day ahead. . For International Women's Day, I decided to order delivery from a women-owned business and a search turned up Cajun Feast. I don't know much about Cajun but I know it's spicy, which I am not great with, but I felt that it'd be disrespectful not to order cajun food if the word cajun is in the restaurant's name. I noticed a lot of menu items were fried, and I haven't met a lot of fried foods that I've liked, but I haven't had squid in a long time so that went into my DoorDash cart. And then I added the chow fun to make it seem more like a sit down meal. The calamari was good. One of the reasons I get apprehensive around fried food (besides my GI tract's longstanding feud with grease) is that usually the batter or breading really overwhelms the food. Calamari in particular is sometimes fried until it's very dry and tough. In this case, the batter was modest and the meat was tender. The Cajun mayo dipping sauce was less spicy than I maybe expected, just FYI. Again, I'm no expert on Cajun. The signature beef chow fun was pretty good, too. It tasted pretty fresh. We decided to try this place after seeing the name "Cajun Feast" And since I love Cajun food. (Especially Southern) Why Not Right? Well We ordered.... Egg Rolls- Too much cabbage, NO Meat (The cashier said "pork" was in it.) Fried Shrimp- Batter on shrimp was undercooked Garlic Wings- Same Batter that was used on Shrimp? I'll pass. Spam & Egg Fried Rice- My hubby thought was good, but peas in rice were hard literally. Egg Noodles w/ Chicken, vegetables, in black pepper sauce- Ok- Not flavorful Cajun Popcorn Chicken- We asked Not spicy, instead add garlic- It was WAY Toooo Salty. I just came here this past weekend. There is no fine in and they no longer serve you at the outside tables. Masks are always worn by staff. The food here is so good! Especially the fried foods. I've had the popcorn chicken and the tofu and they are both amazing. I tend to order the seafood bowls. It's always filling and delicious. Their dessert is good too! First Cajun restaurant in Davis as far as I can remember. Upon walking in, I was surprised to find out it's actually a Cajun/Chinese fusion restaurant so most of their menu is Chinese with the seafood plates having the most cajun influence. The seafood was a bit pricy for me at $20 so I tried a build your own plate for $8 plus tax which included rice, meat, sauce, soup of the day and a drink. The menu is MASSIVE (check the paper one when you walk in) and very customizable. Also they give you free hot tea if you dine in. I chose pork curry and asked them to make it spicy and they did not disappoint. The serving size was good and had plenty of veggies. The soup was pretty good and their hot milk tea wasn't too sweet which was nice. The real standout however was the customer service. Upon walking in, a lady greeted me and explained the restaurant/menu in depth. She was very friendly and not pushy at all. I had pleasant experiences with the waiter and lady who went around to clean tables and refill tea as well. Overall they seemed genuinely friendly and easygoing and it made for a really nice atmosphere. I'll be going back to try more of the menu and to see if the hospitality holds up as they get more settled/busy. 7/10, definitely worth a try! read more

Feast - Pork curry with rice - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Davis, California

We ordered Cajun Feast through DoorDash and it was pretty decent. The fried calamari was the best thing out of that order. The seafood combo#2 seemed undercooked as the potato's were still rock solid while the actual seafood didn't soak in the flavors of the broth. The chow fun looked pale like it wasn't stir fried in any sauce and then the sauce was just dumped on top of the noodles. Maybe it was just the end of the day but I feel like it was not worth the money we paid for it. read more
