I hoped for a new restaurant to add to our rotation. Even though it is nice inside the service was lacking. We had a table of more than ten adults with only one server. Drinks were not refilled, orders were not checked for accuracy and no one asked if we wanted dessert or if everything was alright. My friend ordered steak medium rare and it was well done. My meal was served incomplete. The food tasted good but nothing special. I asked for the lunch menu that was on the website and was told it was old and they didn't have a lunch menu. Several of us went for lunch 30 minutes after it opened for the day and they were already out of shrimp for the gumbo (one of their main soups), and green beans (a side dish for many of their entrees). When that happens just 30 minutes after they open, that's obviously poor planning. I also got mashed potatoes as a side, and those were barely warm. Food is tasteless. One of those restaurants where no matter what you get it tastes the same. We've tried to eat here three or four times and I always leave sick. Today there were flies everywhere and the lady bringing out food had long hair that was literally laying across a plate on our tray of food. My kids hate when I make a scene so I didn't say anything at the time, but I wish I would have. I also have issue that whatever I've ordered always has ingredients not listed on the menu. Last time it was a salad that was not presented as described. This time it was grilled shrimp with a weird sauce on it. Never again will I eat here. read more

Hubby and I have driven past this place numerous times, and decided to try it on New Year's Eve. Very happy we did, very nice place, decorated very tastefully with a modern flair. Hostess was not great, not sure she was even awake and seemed bored to death! But our Waiter (Nick) made up for her indifference, he was excellent and very attentive. Prices were extremely reasonable. We started with calamari and then ordered the rib dinner and steak and shrimp. Calamari was delicious, breading was wonderful. Our dinners were tasty, even though my ribs were on the cool side, didn't want to send it back. I did order a vodka martini and this is one of the few places in Springfield that knows how to make a drink. I didn't have to explain to the waiter how it should be done, it was just done correctly and with a great pour under $7 dollars. Absolutely amazing! I am very picky when it comes to nice restaurants. I have certain expectations. F.D.'s exceeded those expectations above and beyond! My Mother and Grandmother were in town and wanted something nice and memorable. We were not disappointed at all. We all four got something different and were absolutely thrilled with the food we got. The chicken was so tender and tasty. The ribs were phenomenal!! We had 4 entrée's and an appetizer for $47!!! The venue is beautiful. Has a high end modern feel. Everything was clean and neat. The waitress, Tiffany, was so friendly and she gave us detailed descriptions of the food and was very well mannered. Food was brought out in a decent time. I will forever remember this place and will probably be back a hundred times. You MUST visit this place!!! read more

Every time we dine here, the service is exceptional, the food is hot, fresh and generous. A little bit of a wait during busy hours but oh so worth the wait. Very pleasing, very inviting atmosphere to this place. For being a steakhouse, FD's had a very upscale attitude with its modern architecture and tastefully dim lighting. The food was favorably up to par to the restaurant's appearance; my steak was smokily prepared and the sides were tasty as well. Despite being packed that evening the service was polite and ample; never too far away yet always approachable and eager to help. As a guest to a friend's birthday, I was fortunately treated to a free meal but I would eagerly pay full-price for another experience at FD's Grillhouse. read more

All things considered we really didn't wait very long at all, the service was great and the food was amazing! Will I go back? Absolutely! We went on a Thursday night and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table for two. On the recommendation of a friend we tried the Firehouse Shrimp for an appetizer. This is shrimp covered in a sauce that is similar to a spicy southwest ranch sauce and was outstanding. We normally don't order appetizers but we will definitely get this again. We ordered the FD Burger and the Alaskan Fish and Chips and would order these dishes again. The burger has the Firehouse sauce on it that when combined with the cheese almost melts in your mouth. The Alaskan Fish was a battered white flaky fish that had a nice mild flavor that could be enhanced by the tartar sauce provided if desired. I enjoyed it both ways. The fries that were served came out hot and fresh and had a good flavor without being under or overcooked. The fish and chips was also served with cole slaw. Unfortunately, this was pre-made generic out of a tub cole slaw that can be found at several restaurants and grocery stores. The portions were great and the prices were very reasonable making this a great value. The service was up and down. While our waitress was cordial my water glass sat empty for quite some time and she promised to fill it up multiple times without following through. This was the only damper on what was an otherwise enjoyable experience. read more

Food was good, but what really sets this place ahead of the rest is the prices. Very very competitive prices. Most entrees were under $12. Steak was good and my wife had the lemon chicken and she really liked it, I also had the fried shrimp although it was decent I could tell it had been frozen for some time. Wait staff was good, although they did try and deliver us a couple other people's food. It is very, very loud but I would say the open floor plan largely contributed to that. We were in Springfield looking for a new place to eat when I came across FD's Grillhouse on a list of top 10 restaurants in Springfield. We decided to give it a whirl. After about a 25 minute wait, we were seated at a both and promptly greeted by our waitress. We ordered drinks and our appetizer which arrived within 10 minutes. The three dips and chips were very good, highly recommend the spinach dip. We each got chicken strips and I got a steak, he got the ribs and both were very good. I also had to try the sweet potato casserole, VERY GOOD! We received our meal before we were even done eating our appetizer. Our ticket was less than $40 and we had plenty of food left over to take home. This place will definitely be added to our list of places to visit. Go eat, you won't be disappointed. read more

Food was very good. The server was excellent. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait this turned into over an hour. We had friends that arrived after we had waited 40 minutes they were called to a table first. When we ask the hostess about this her comment back was, " I guess they're just going to go ahead of you." She was very rude and belittling. After waiting another 10 minutes we asked to check the list for our name. Come to find out they had already marked it off. Have been there twice this week, First with a group and even though we couldn't all be at one table we still had a great time, great food and everyone enjoyed their lunch. They had several large groups and if we wanted to wait awhile we could all be put at one table but we didn't want to wait, so that was our choice. The atmosphere is very pleasant and it offers a variety of selections for lunch and dinner. I had the chicken and shrimp combo and was very pleased with it. Everyone in our group said they really liked their selection. Just to say there was 16 of us. The second time was my daughter and myself, we still enjoyed the experience except for her shrimp still had the black vein in them. The manager apologized and took the price of her meal off our ticket. She offered to pay for the chicken strips that she did eat and he very nicely declined that offer and said her shrimp should of never left the kitchen and he was sorry. To me that is the sign of a good manager and we will add this very nice place to our list of going to visit often. read more

Our first visit was really tremendous. We didn't have any particular expectations other than prior Yelp reviews. We tried the Firecracker Chicken appetizer and it definitely delivered. I can see why everyone loves it. I ordered the grilled fish Tacos half order which includes two sides. I selected the homemade Louisiana shrimp gumbo and the fries. Having lived for over ten years in Louisiana, the gumbo was pretty spot on. The fish taco was one of the best I've ever had as well. My wife ordered the salmon on rice not the cedar plank salmon. She loved hers as well including the side of thinly sliced vegetables. Our server was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was not too loud and the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The food is very consistent. I would not call it trending, it's a good medium quality offering. The portion are very large. If you aren't that hungry, I'd consider sharing an entree. The chicken tenders and fried catfish are great. Also the hushpuppies are a great value at $1. They've got a slight taste of jalapeño. The "three" tortilla chip app is also a great value with super flavor. The entire restaurant is moderately priced including the adult beverages. Watch the wait during Friday and Saturdays, it could take a while to be seated as they do not take reservations. We will continue to visit FD's for our family meals 6-8 times a year. read more

Nice place. This was my second time in and I'm becoming a fan. The first time there, we had to wait about 10 minutes longer than the hostess quoted (and she is a drawback) but last night, we sat down ahead of schedule. I love the hush puppies. Great App for a group! The food is not earth shattering but very good and consistent for the price. Our service has been very good each time, although we have seen it falling down at other tables, so probably hit and miss there. The best part is how quick drink service is. I get very tired of waiting on drinks and cannot understand how restaurants routinely let the bar ignore floor service. Not at FD's... Drinks come out fast and fresh, and let's face it, that can make any meal taste better. Not great for a date, but for friends and family a good call! read more

We decided to try out FDs GH for the first time last night and it was absolutely great. Each member of our party ordered something different and all plates were phenomenal. I personally ordered the Spinach Dip Chicken Pasta and everything of the dish was cooked and seasoned correctly. For desert I had the Homemade Key Lime Pie and it was extremely refreshing and a great ending to the meal. Apart from the food the service and welcoming hospitality was great as well.
