Was in town for a family visit and the in laws brought us to FDs. It has a claim jumper meets outback feel with much classier decor and drink menu. They raced about the catfish, steak and shrimp so we were excited to try the local flavor. The staff was very nice and had some good recommendations and we had firecracker shrimp for an appetizer. Being Californians at heart we tried a couple of throwbacks for us and our parents had catfish blackened and a steak salad. The kids meals were reasonable priced and our littles also enjoyed FD's The thing that stood out are the prices, very reasonable. You would spent twice as much in Minneapolis so you can have a nice dinner on a budget. Great job FD's read more

Found this place because the place I wanted to go was closed... And thank Goodness it was. By far one of the best Cedar Plank Salmon I've ever had and had to follow it their famous Key lime pie.... That's what the pic of the empty plate is of. I'd give it 10 stars if I could read more

FD's is one of the best restaurants in Springfield in my opinion. It really looks upscale & higher end but the prices are very affordable. Not a stuffy place at all. Service is always great and the menu has a good variety of dishes. I've had several things there from cedar plank salmon to steak & shrimp to fish tacos & fish and chips. Their FD's salad is one of the best I've ever had with lemon vinaigrette. Also, their homemade key lime pie is off the charts! They have a full bar and their wine list is good. We will be going back here a lot more often. No reservations so get there early but if you have to wait a bit it will be well worth it! read more

3 1/2 Stars here. The service was absolutely there, but for me, it was missing the genuine feel of the hometown love I've been experiencing in Nixa this past few days. My burger was good, fries were good, even the fried shrimp and chicken were good. Overall I think people are paying for the atmosphere. I was however very impressed with the customers as we walked in, a young man opened the door for myself and my family. As we left, a customer held the door for us and everyone waiting in the line outside to get in, stepped aside, said "excuse me, have a nice evening". My love for hometown Nixa is growing indeed!! read more

You know the saying "you get what you pay for"? FD's takes it to the next level. You get more than you'd expect for these prices. I've eaten here several times. It reminds me of your typical Americana restaurant but better. The menu is full of awesome entrees and appetizers. They have something for everyone. Tacos, burgers, pasta, fish, steak... you get my drift. I've had steak & shrimp ($14!!), burgers, and most recently the firecracker chicken tacos (my new fav!). All of these have been so good!! But the firecracker chicken tacos are divine. They are messy and spicy and huge! I love them so much. Service is always great, and they've been super quick when I'm on a lunch break. It is always busy, no surprise there. read more

Bad atmosphere, very dark like it's a funeral, but the food was amazing, the sweet potato casserole was exquisite, amazing burger as well, the whole family loved it but again the ambiance was awful, the service was good too but I can't stress it was very very dark. read more

Though there are three other restaurants (2 TX/1 OK), FD's Grillhouse may be described as Springfield's venerated Shady Inn 2.0: Elegantly casual; a well-rounded menu with the kitchen chops to back it up; great service from a friendly, motivated staff; and a dependably relaxing environment to dine. Chances are you'll see someone you know. FD's doesn't accept reservations so plan around peak times. If you want to wait in the bar, sample their house special Blood Orange Martini which is wonderfully refreshing as time flies awaiting your table. The Cedar Plank Salmon is a signature seafood dish among many other well-prepared offerings including "FD's trio" for the undecided. An array of superb steak & ribs are equally represented as well as delicious salads & sandwiches, including burgers. Their single dessert is an excellent Key Lime pie. Suffice it to say that FD's appeals to any taste or occasion. It's nice to have a reliably pleasant environment in which to dine out with great food at a consistently reasonable value. read more

My daughters took me to FD Grill House for my birthday dinner. The service was very good. We started out with an appetizer. Firecracker shrimp. They were delicious. Then I ordered the combo seafood dinner. It had cornmeal battered catfish with stuffed shrimp. It was amazing. Another plus to eating at this establishment is that it won't break the bank. I would highly recommend it. Next time I'm going to have their famous chicken planks... Looking forward to it! read more

He made an excuse and told us to come back again and they would take good care of us. First off, they won't remember us. And if you barely acknowledged the experience we had tonight, WHY would we come back??? I would give the food around 4 stars but the service a 2 and our overall experience a 3.

Stayed in Branson, but went to Springfield for a graduation. The graduate recommended FD's. This is the only restaurant that I would drive from Branson to Springfield to eat. Gracey and Bruce were our servers. Both were great. Gracey immediately removed trash ( which is a rarity now days). The service reminded me of a cruise vacation from several decades ago. My wife and I shared the trio ( salmon, shrimp and chicken tenders) plus baked potato, steamed broccoli and a salad. Our bill was a bit over $20 plus tip. The only thing I wish we would have changed is we would double up the shrimp instead of the chicken. 3 at our table raved at the sirloin. My father in law said his baby back rips were wonderful. Everyone raved at the food and the service. My only warning is get there early--- don't expect to walk to table at noon. We got there when it opened at 11am and they accommodated our group of 8 immediately. My brother in law drove back for a return trip a couple days later ( I had to go home). Well to start out when we walked in we were overwhelmed with the smell of nasty old fish! I asked the hostess said really I guess I'm used to it I have been here all day.then we ordered our food my husband wanted a salad with honey mustard when they drought it out they brought ranch. We tried to ask someone to fix it but we were basically investable we couldn't get anyone's attention. Finally after a long while we got it fixed when our food came out and it wasn't borderline Luke warm and my chicken was burnt.and while I was eating I watched a waitress walk through with a tray of food and was spilling something liquid and white all the way to a table and spilling it on a customer. My food didn't taste very good at all because all I could smell was the bad fish that made my clothes smell like it the rest of the day! Won't be back for a long time that's for sure! read more

This is a very impressive restaurant. I did not even realize they were open until I passed it earlier this week. The food quality, service, and atmosphere are incredible. Even with top notch service and great food- the prices were extremely reasonable. Ribs, steak, chicken and fish are all under $15!! I didn't make it over to the bar but it looked nice and the drinks looked good. I had the Firecracker Chicken Tacos and my wife had the Cedar Plank Salmon, both of which were AMAZING. We shared the Key Lime Pie which was so good we ordered an extra slice to take home for our kiddos. Our kids did not go with us this time but it is a very family friendly place. We will definitely be going back to FD's very soon and recommend to all in the Springfield area!! read more
