I had book marked Fatima's either because of Phantom Gourmet or I had seen this pop up enough in Yelp. In short, another place I never would have probably found, but very happy I did. Cafe is fairly small and almost minimalist in design, but it more than makes up for that in the quality of food. I was in around late lunch time and there was only one other couple eating at the time. The owner was very friendly and helpful to both me and the other party in terms of what to order and give his recommendations if torn between choices. I ended up on the Somali steak sandwich. It comes out super hot, so make sure to give it a little time to cool if you don't want to destroy the roof of your mouth. The steak is flavorful and unless you know a ton of other African diners in Worcester, this is going to be a unique experience. Delicious, flavorful, and hot food! Super good! I had a beef stew with two vegetable stews and the bread to go with it. The beef stew was AMAZING! So flavorful and tasty! What a wonderful place! Homey, cozy, friendly, and COVID-safe. The sandwich is huge and can feed two people unless you're a heavy eater like my in-laws then get two sandwiches!! I have had samosas in more than 40 states and four countries. I can confidently says that theirs is the best that I've ever had! In addition to seeing samosa on their menu, their consistent 5 star ratings intrigued me and I could not wait till I checked out this place. It is a small place with up to 12 tables and you could see the kitchen over the counter. The owners take your order and they are very friendly and welcoming. I was here quite a few times and I ordered samosa every-time I visited. Coming from India, I love freshly fried hot samosa. Although, the flavors are not exactly similar, I still enjoy a freshly prepared samosa. Fatima's offer lentil and mixed vegetable samosa. Lentil samosa soon became my favorite. I find the cost reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. The green chutney they offer on the side is great and it goes well the samosa. I order prior to going to the store and pick it up. They are usually on time and they give a time estimate for preparing the order. If you order in person, you could see them taking the wrapped samosa out of the fridge and fry it. We go here regularly and I am sure we will keep the trend! read more

VERY VERY long time coming for this one. Just catching up. We went before COVID! Small, home-like atmosphere, food was great. The guy serving us (maybe the owner?) was amazing at explaining our meal to us. I'm not a big fan of goat, but my wife liked it. I was not, so I wont hold anything against them for that. We have been waiting to try Fatima's Cafe for far too long. We finally had the chance to order takeout tonight. There was a drive up window to pick up and our food was ready on time. When it comes to the food, it was INCREDIBLE! We ordered beef samosas, which were perfectly cooked, stuffed full and came with an amazing hot sauce. We ordered the East African traditional dinner plate with Somali anjero, eggplant and cauliflower and chicken stew. Each part of the dish was so flavorful. We tried the rice pilau with & sugoo and beef. Again, everything was amazing. For drinks we had two mango lassis which I took a sip of the second we left and couldn't stop smiling. We will definitely be back again and again. I cannot stress enough how delicious everything was. Not to mention that the owner was so sweet and made me feel so comfortable from the second that I talked to him over the phone. I had never tried East African food before and wow I am so glad that I finally had the chance! I have lived in Worcester most of my life and managed, bartended and worked in restaurants for years. Wow!!!!! What. An. Unexpected. diamond, Worcester! Our vegetarian friend found it when visiting, so she convinced us to try it. So glad we made the trip to Worcester North! We greatly enjoyed the fruit juice made with berries and juice, a great portion for the $3.50 cost! Maybe could have been a little colder is my only "complaint." I enjoyed the texture of the seeds too. We split the trio of empanadas appetizer, all delish, I really enjoyed the mixed veggie. The other half enjoyed the empanadas so much- a trio of beef made up their entree. I got the lamb wrap- hilib ido, WOW. like lamb brisket!!!!! Crisp notes, soft tender, flavorful meat, with sweet onions and peppers melted alongside; and a crispy, panini pressed wrap. So yummy. Our vegetarian friend really enjoyed the veggie stews that she ordered. We got to try to silky "spicy" lentils (I was happy they weren't fiery hot!) and the yummy eggplant cauliflower stew. Can't wait to come back and try more!!! Notes: we happily arrived two weeks after the installation of new signs that identify the corner, the restaurant, AND the back parking lot!!!! Wow, I wasn't sure what we were getting into, but hundreds of 5 star reviews can't be wrong! They were not, the owners are super friendly and the food is delicious! They are sensitive to vegetarian/vegans as well and offer delicious meats. Went there with my friends family who all have a variety of eating preferences and everybody was happy! Even their youngest son who is very picky, enjoyed some of the breads and the donuts with Nutella and honey :) We ordered one of each samosa to start, I had the vegetarian stews (spiced lentil and eggplant) with chapatti (so good) my friend had the spiced lentils and mixed veggies. Her daughters shared the Ethiopian plate with goat, lamb and beef, as well as some veggies. The girls are adventurous eaters and were surprised how much they enjoyed the goat. To finish, we shared a slice of the tres leches cake! Wonderful meal and at under 50$ for 5 of us with appetizers and dessert, that's a bargain! We will definitely be back! read more

Very friendly staff. I had never had these particular dishes before, but my partner and I stopped in for a quick early dinner from the highway, driving through town. I got the traditional East African dinner plate with Somali anjero and my partner got the ugali with sukuma. I liked my anjero better than his ugali, but I liked the ugali as well. Kind of like polenta. We got vegetarian meals, very tasty, not greasy. I especially liked a kale dish on my partner's plate. It had a nice tang to it that cut the heavier lentil and veggie stews. People working there seemed happy to work with each other and talk to regulars coming in. The place could use some more visual ambience, but the warmth and friendliness of the people working there kind of make up for that. Really glad we got to try this unique place. read more

Lovely little spot for East African cuisine. We got African chai lattes...which were absolute FIRE. I'm obsessed with them, highly recommend. For food, we got a lamb sandwich and some stews. Everything tasted delicious, I could have used some more flavor, but I think that's how it's supposed to taste. I would definitely recommend and return. You know why I checked this place out. I love me some ethnic and African foods. We checked this place out after church on Sunday. It's a small place with a very small lot behind the restaurant. As soon as we walked in we were greeted. It's not a fancy place. They sale beautiful pieces of art that is hung all over the place. The older gentleman who greeted us, welcomed us and made some suggestions as we asked him a few questions. We of course had to get the Kenyan Chai fully loaded with the milk and sugar. We don't eat dairy really but it was warm and delicious. I am a sucker for chai tea and this was still really good. We followed up with beef and spicy lentil samosas appetizer. The lentils aren't spicy at all but are delicious. The beef samosas were also delicious. We each decided to try out the East African dinner platter with the chapatti flatbread, the eggplant and cauliflower and spicy lentils and with beef and goat (these are two separate platters see menu and pictures). Everything was delicious, light and not very oily. East Africans really know how to cook their veggies man. Fatima's is a great place if you want spoil your taste buds, satisfy your hunger and also eat fairly light and healthy. Yes, it's not impossible to do all of this, Fatima's Cafe has made this easy. When you come check out this place make sure you leave with a mango lassi in hand. Mango lassis are basically mango milk and yogurt aka creamy rich deliciousness. Update: went back and got the Ugali it was awesome. You are to eat the meat and greens with the corn meal using your hands. Use the cornmeal like your spoon and you swallow it all. We've been here a couple times and each time have been impressed with the customer service and the food. They're always smiling and the food smells so amazing we can hardly wait the entire ride home to eat it. Wish we lived closer so we could get there more often, but it's worth the drive!
