During my two trips to Kauai spent two days each diving with Fathom Five. So glad I went with them. They don't dive with a large group like some other companies do, which was nice so you don't feel crowded or rushed. Our dive master Julie was extremely knowledgeable and picked some great dive sites for us to explore as well. And I always appreciate when I see the staff care for the ocean and pick up things that don't belong to help preserve the beautiful ocean. And my last trip earlier this month Bob was the DM. Older gentleman but extremely careful and caring of the divers. He was so patient with two green divers and also on a day with all experienced divers took us out in Kippu Kai to explore some place new. I did rent a bcd and reg as part of my dives. The reg comes with a dive computer if you don't have one. I also recommend double checking your air before entering the water.. one of my dives I started with 2500 psi vs 3000 That's my one negative and my lesson learned. But I still saw a lot and got some great bottom time. All in all I was really happy with my dives and the DMs. I'd highly recommend them for future dives read more

A little history first: I started diving with Jeannette and Fathom Five in 1993! A few years later in 2011 I organized a family Discovery Dive with my adult children. Yesterday we did the same family Discovery Dive which included my grandchildren! Jeannette, owner and dive master, and her team are wonderful instructors and guides. Since we don't dive every year, we find that the Discovery dive serves as a refresher for those of us who are certified and allows the younger family members to experience their first dives. Yesterday Jeannette and Carlea made sure we all felt safe and comfortable in our first dive. That was an accomplishment since we range in age from 11 to 80! Carlea paired with our 11 year old. Carlea's style of teaching and encouragement allowed our granddaughter to dive with the whole family. Jeannette's ability to spot little problems and remedy them quickly helped all of us have amazing dive experiences. Jeannette also helped us see some great sea creatures: leaf scorpions, frog fish, eels, turtles. etc! My 7 year old grandson has decided that he wants to dive with his grandma when she's 80! read more

Great diving experience. We liked it so much we did two dive trips. We did a night dive and a boat dive. Each trip was two dives. The dive guides did a great job. The boat had snacks and drinks. The DM was on the ball and very helpful. The night dive was a new experience for us and also very well done. It went from the shore, so we got to experience a different kind of dive compared to the boat. We saw all sorts of wildlife, from turtles to octopus. Great dive company. read more

Our guide Devyn and captain Sergio were amazing! Wind and current were a bit more than desired, but they did a great job getting us in the most protected areas and checking in with us the entire time. I'm still in the beginner phase of diving and was diving by myself (no buddies). Devyn was fantastic! Checking in on me, making sure I was good and comfortable, and making sure we all got a chance to see the awesome things she found on the reefs. Devyn and Sergio checked with other dive groups to get more up to date current conditions to ensure we had a good 2nd dive as well. Saw a couple pods of dolphins on the way to our 2nd stop and Sergio slowed down, did a couple of big loops so everyone got a chance to see them. Amazing. Overall an amazing experience, would dive with them again if I had family with me or not. read more

I am a certified diver and wanted my fiance to try it out. We booked a discovery dive with fathom five. They were amazing. The day we were supposed to dive we got a call from the shop saying it was slightly rougher waters than normal and let us reschedule to the next day no charge. Reid took us on a dive and was super patient with our group and my fiance. Even though she couldn't clear her ears to actually do the dive he was very patient and didn't make her feel bad but encouraged her to try again a different day. My 13 year old son and I dove with the Fathom 5 dive shop on June 11, 2025. The check in at the dive shop was very easy and the QR code direction to the boat made the drive to the harbor easy. The dive shop is super organized and clean. We did not rent any dive equipment but the rental equipment looked great. We met Sergio (Dive Boat Captain) and Shaun (Divemaster / Guide) at the boat ramp. They both did an excellent job of letting us know the safety features of the boat and how the dive day would proceed. Great pre-briefing by both Shaun and Sergio. I really appreciated the fact they let us decide if we wanted to put our equipment together or if we wanted them to do it for us. Since I was diving with my 13 year old son, I want him to continue to learn and to practice setting up his own equipment. My son and I enjoyed two great dives together off the coast of Kauai. The first lasted 56 minutes and the second lasted 61 minutes giving my son some quality underwater time. We had such an incredible time with the exceptional Fathom Five Diving crew that included: Captain Julie, Dive Master Extraordinaire Linda, and Dive Guru Gina today. Their pretty boat was clean, we each had two tanks for our two dives and there were beverages and snacks available for us to enjoy at leisure. They took care od changing our tanks for us and helped get our gear on and off both dives. As a born again virgin diver, it had been three years since my last dive, Linda took me under her wing and gave me a brief refresher. Always good to gain safe advice when you can. Linda made me feel very secure and calm getting back into the water. Julie aided by helping with my back-roll entry and Gina's encouragement between dives increased my confidence. We were taken to two beautiful dive locations. A plethora of turtles awaited is and so many wonderful fish to see! I only wish our underwater camera had been working for pictures that would have been epic to post and share. We had a wonderful two tank dive with Fathom 5. The guide Julie and captain Drake picked excellent spots. The surface was rough but underneath the waves was perfect. We saw bright fish, octopus, eels, turtles, crown of thorns and even a hammerhead! The dives felt very relaxed and not rushed. Explanations of what to expect were given at each stop. We loved the small size of the group. It allowed for discussion and concerns to be expressed. For example, one person in our party hadn't been diving in over ten years and started out nervous. For myself, as an older diver, I have trouble getting from the water to the boat and received help to do so. I highly recommend Fathom 5. read more

I was a solo diver so I had to book around my family plans upon arrival. The young lady was super helpful on the phone and helped me pick a dive that would work. We went through several options. I did a 2 tank boat dive. Captain Sergio was the perfect skipper for the day. Wild Bill was the master diver and he gave a fantastic and thorough pre-dive brief. A young lady dropped her mask prior to entry and I was able to find it below. The caverns was by far my favorite of the two locations. If we saw one turtle we saw 100! Fun! The staff was super non-chill and there was no rush. Comfort was the name of the game. I will totally dive with them again. No sharks or monk seals though. Perhaps next time! The equipment was 1st rate as well. The check in process was as well. They had the wrong size shorty for me but she worked with me and I went without as we discussed water temp! They said the dive info will be in our profiles and we can retrieve tomorrow after the data is uploaded. See you again! read more

I did quite a bit of diving with Fathom Five 15-20 years ago, and after a work-driven hiatus, I'm back on Kaua'i and thought it was time to get back in the water. Back then, FF was a terrific help and guide service, and I'm happy to report: they still are. Their staff-- Ezra on the phone, Noah our dive master / guide, and everyone else I spoke with along the way was gracious and helpful. Because of some off-shore weather, the Koloa Landing dive wasn't the greatest viz, and the rocky old boat ramp a little sketchy for the exit. However, Noah did a great job getting us in and out, and showing us around; even with so-so conditions it was a great dive. Of note, I have an ankle injury that didn't interfere with the dive itself, but on the exit, given the surge and rocks, I struggled more than I anticipated. Noah-- while also helping an inexperienced teen and 2 other divers-- still got us in safely with a minimum of grief, and managed to help me limp up the ramp by grabbing my tank valve and taking some weight off my foot. Next dive he simply, and without fanfare, took my tank from me on the exit, and I waltzed in (water ballet?) easily. Now I'm spoiled and would like a cold drink and a towel handed to me. Seriously, these folks are experienced pros, know the island, are safe, conscientious, and provide a great experience for their guests. Easily Five (5) stars for Fathom Five. I cannot recommend Fathom Five Divers enough!! As someone who never thought they would be able to scuba dive (and I almost did call it quits in the water), it was one of the best experiences of my life! Devon and Kat were SO patient when I started to psych myself out while learning the skills under water. They were so reassuring and the reason why I was able to check scuba diving off my bucket list. Once I was down in the water, it was such a peaceful and awesome experience! 10/10 recommend if you are traveling to Kauai! read more
