I have dived with Nick and Jess 3-4 times. They provide outstanding service, knowledge and warmth. They are really experienced and I highly recommend the Niihau dive. It is usually rough returning home, but well worth the channel crossing!

I recently did the Niihau dive (Vertical Awareness & Lehua Wall) with Explore Kauai Scuba and had an incredible time. Jesse and Nick, co-owners, were outstanding. Jesse led the dives and Nick piloted the boat, and both were incredibly warm and professional. On the way there, we spotted numerous dolphin. We saw many Hawaiian munk seals, fish, eels, etc. with some of the best underwater topography I've ever seen in some of the clearest water I've ever been in. We did two dives of about 80 feet deep and it was incredibly safe and easy. The dives were not as challenging as I had expected based on my interaction with other Kauai dive companies (maybe we just caught a calm day?). The return ride to Kauai is notoriously rough, and the ride back did not disappoint. One strong advantage that Explore Kauai Scuba has over other dive companies is that they are located much closer to Niihau than the other companies I spoke with. This might not sound like a big deal but in rough seas, it is probably saving you another 1-1/2 hours of bouncing around. This means that you do have to drive a few more miles if you're coming from Poipu but I would much rather be in a smooth riding, air conditioned car than be bounced around for longer than I need to. This is a great dive company, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, and I will seek them out in the future.

My girls and I had a BLAST on nick and Jessie's boat! Some of us are open water certified and some were diving for their first time. Whichever level you are, nick and Jessie take great care of you. They know all the sick dive spots and teach you a lot about what you see out in the water. I love supporting little ma and pa shops, book your scuba adventure w EXPLORE KAUAI SCUBA!!!

Dove with Nick on Friday. Second time coming to this island, second time diving with this guy. He's the best. Makes sure you're comfortable to go under, no rush no pressure just patient and instructive. Saw some very cool underwater life. Also this was very impressive to me. While we were down there, Nick took a minute to untangle some coral that was tangled up in what looked like fishing line. Big props for that bro. If you're looking for a great instructor who cares about your experience and not just (another dive) go with this company.

I had an amazing time diving with Jesse and Nick! It was a great privilege to enjoy a semi-private diving trip on their small boat. Jesse is an awesome divemaster who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. I'm absolutely looking forward to diving with them again!

Surface interval from our dive at Mana Crack... checking out some sea caves.

My husband, myself, and our friend dove the Mana Crack with EKS in June of 2021. It was our first time diving with them, and if we could give them 10 stars, we would!! I am a dive instructor and dive guide at home in So. California, my husband has a couple thousand dives under his belt, and our friend is also a tech diving instructor with several thousand dives. We have many years of experience with lots of different operations, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better one than EKS. The other couple that was on the boat with us was relatively new to diving. I know from experience that it is hard to please such a wide range of divers with such varying experience levels. Jessie, our guide that day, was the absolute best! She was so enthusiastic, and you could tell she still really loved her job. She took care to watch out for the newer divers, and also trusted our more experienced group to follow along without being overbearing. It felt like we were just diving with friends! We were all so impressed with how knowledgeable she was with the sea life, and the topography of the dive site. She just was an absolute pleasure to dive with. I can't say enough great things about her. Then, topside for our surface interval... it was SOO fun!!! Nick took us on such an epic tour of the Napali Coast. He didn't rush, or cut corners, but just really let us take it all in!! As luck would have it, the marine conditions took a turn for the... let's say, more "sporty" return home. Nick handled it like an absolute pro, and there was never a moment where we had any doubt that they knew what the heck they were doing. Do not hesitate in booking with Nick and Jesse. They were a dream! Can't wait to return to Kauai to dive with them again!!

This is by far the best company to dive with on Kauai! Nick and Jessie are knowledgeable and make every trip fun and memorable! Even as an experienced diver you are bound to learn more and see new things! Wish I could give even more stars for the hot cocoa they provided for us in between dives! Saw a white tip shark, ono, school of barracuda, turtles, dolphins, sponge crabs, ghost shrimp, lion fish, yellow hairy hermit , lots of eels, and more! Thank you Explore Kauai Scuba!

Had an awesome dive trip with Nick and Anthony today, small group, expert local knowledge, professional dive master and boat captain! Accurate information on the website. I recommend them for your Kauai dive experience!

Our first boat dive was actually our very first certified dive after getting certified, so I was definitely nervous But Anthony, our divemaster, was incredible. He guided us through the most amazing dive sites, helped us explore caverns, work on our buoyancy, and I got unbelievably close to my favorite sea turtles I got a little seasick because the waters were stormy and choppy during the first dive, but the whole crew encouraged me to get back in for the second one and I'm SO grateful I did because it ended up being one of my favorite dives ever. We loved the experience so much that we booked another shore dive with Cody and it was equally amazing. We got super close to the honus again, ended up right in the middle of a bait ball, saw a HUGE barracuda, and the most beautiful giant mushroom coral. Beyond the dives themselves, the people here were just sooo kind, encouraging, and welcoming. At one point they even gave Tim and me a thumbs up and said we didn't seem like new divers which honestly made our whole day Absolutely loved this shop and will 1000% dive with them again.

Scott was wonderful to work with when we started the planning process, as we were traveling with our 4 year old. Scott initially offered to take my husband and I separately down to dive while the other waited on shore with our daughter, which would have worked, but we chose instead to use Kaua'i childcare to have a nanny watch our daughter at a nearby resort pool via Resort Pass. We chose to do a private dive so that we could do two tank dives each (we dove together on both). Scott provided all gear including dive computers, masks, fins, snacks, and water! He had thought of everything to keep us comfortable and make the day run smoothly. The price was incredible considering the value of the experience! On the dive, we saw several green sea turtles, numerous types of eel including a dragon eel, probably up to 50 different species of fish including the rare fire angel fish, and an elusive harlequin shrimp. One of the best things about booking Kaua'i scuba adventures was that Scott was able to take photos of the dive for us and shared all photos and videos with us immediately after the dive! It was like hiring a private photographer on top of a dive master. 10/10!

Could not recommend them enough :)

BB is a small business run by Clay (also boat driver) and Blondie (in the shop & bookings). The shop is located in Eleele, and the boat is based not 200 yards down the road at Port Allen Small Boat Harbor, both nearby Hanapepe. 3 days of diving would be too much in narrative format, so here are my impressions: Day 1. We started with 2 boat dives on Kauai's South shore to dive sites named Turtle Bluffs and Hale o Honu (House of turtles). Not too deep dives (60-70 feet max). We didn't see any pelagic sea life, but I'm content with the honu and things I haven't seen before. This time, it was the Hawaiian lionfish or turkeyfish (probably for the turkey-like plume of spikes it displays). They're an indigenous lionfish in Hawaiian waters, not the Indonesian lionfish that is such a pest in Florida, Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean. As Hale o Honu suggests, this dive site was full of honu, all waiting their turn at the cleaning station (where small fish come out and eat the algae off their shells) Although I've been to a lot of honu cleaning stations before, this one had over 8 honu, a record for me! Day 2. A trip to dive Niihau was the highlight of the trip. 3 dives with enriched air ("Nitrox") off of Niihau. It was two very long boat rides, about 2 hours each. The afternoon return boat ride was very choppy, with several people getting sick. And Cap'n Clay said it was pretty calm, relatively speaking. But it was worth it! Excellent visibility, interesting underwater structures, and fascinating critters! The cherry on everything was the Hawaiian monk seals. It is said that Niihau has the largest Hawaiian monk seal population in the inhabited Hawaiian islands. We only saw two, but one came by the dive group. The seal came up close to one of the divers, and played with her bubbles from the back. The diver never even noticed! Day 3. These were two scheduled dives along the Na Pali coast. The first was called the Mana Crack. It's a section of the reef that developed a fissure on the floor. Stretching several miles, Mana Crack had a lot of interesting underwater structures. The dive guide found a couple of my favorite nudibranchs, the gold lace. We then headed up to the northwestern section of Na Pali for dive two, but inclement weather came in. We ended up back at Mana Crack. Second dive wasn't as interesting as the first, but it was alright. In summary, Bubbles Below is an excellent dive shop. Great people, fair prices, and some of the best underwater scenery in Hawaii! The snacks and sandwiches provided for the all day dives were tasty and a cut above the slightly stale warehouse club chips and cookies usually available on other dive boats. Definitely will repeat and recommend!

They would only let her in the gate to where the car rental shuttles were picking people up, but we found each other and got off to a great start. She drove a long way with a short stop at a dive shop to a great cove that seemed to be an old boat ramp drive in entry. We suited up and she had us plan the dive to dive the rim of the cove one side and go across to dive the rim of the cove coming back into shore on the other side. The fish were great ... so were both turtles. She pointed out a scorpion fish hiding in a coral fan. It was an awesome dive. She would have done a 2 tank dive if we had wanted to. We're a family of four (parents and two boys in late teens) who flew to Kauai from a visit in Maui for this dive experience specifically. We've done many of the other Hawaii dives (Molokini back wall, Lanai cathedral, Kona manta rays) and were hoping for something on the wilder side. Fathom Five delivered. The hard part is the "commute." It's a 2.5 hr boat ride (each way) from the pier in Poipu. The head on the boat wasn't working the day we visited, which was a scary prospect. But Fathom Five had the innovation of waterproof beanbags, which made the trips as relaxing and enjoyable as they could be. We thought Drake's attentive driving as we battled back into the afternoon trades helped a lot as well. Sean, our guide, was a true pro. He knew everything about the biology above and below water, the geology of the islands, and the history of Niihau. We dove Vertical Awareness first and immediately knew this was going to be special. We were met by an inquisitive sandbar shark as soon as we got to the bottom and soon saw our first (of probably a dozen) monk seals asleep and nestled into the wall. The visibility was essentially infinite. The layers of volcanic sediment result in crevices that are home to lobsters, eels, and nudibranchs. Bring a dive light. The second dive was the Ledges. The rubble from the collapsed wall of the crater is striking. I just remember thinking to myself while I was underwater, this is the best dive I've ever done. The final dive we did was the Arches. A little less visibility. A little less wildlife. But the swim-throughs might have made it the most memorable. Couldn't recommend this dive and these guys enough for a once in a lifetime experience.
