Two happy scuba customers of Watersports Adventures Kauai
    Kevin M.

We had a spectacular adventure with Gregg. We took the boat trip out to the Nepali coast and did dives and snorkeling as a group of five. Fabulous trip. They took us in close to do the caves and morning cruise all the way from Hanalei to end of Nepali beaches. Great views. Terrific service from Gregg and his crew. It was the highlight of the vacation. Something to know : as Gregg said , coming back against the current is like "driving a convertible through the car wash with the top down". Quite a wet and wild ride! But we cannot recommend it enough. Great captain running the boat.

Best part of honeymoon. Recommend highly for first timers like my wife and I. Gregg was fantastic to learn from. He was very positive and patient with us.

Wayne, our snorkeling and scuba guide, took care of my mom, my son and me! Mahalo, Wayne!

Last week, we had an incredible introduction to snorkeling and scuba for my whole family! Our guide Wayne was confident, thoughtful and kind. He had my 66 year old mom hold onto his arm to safely lead her through the slippery ramp to the water. He entertained my 9 year old son in his first snorkeling adventure, with some tricks and small lessons. He warned us all about navigating the rocks and other small hazards. We had two experienced snorkelers and two beginners in our group, and everyone had a great time seeing sea turtles and dozens of species of fish very close up! Wayne also led me on my first scuba diving experience right after the snorkel, and offered to have me hold onto his arm during the dive. But he eased up when he saw how well I was handling it. He was always close at hand and available, but not interfering with my exploration. He also attended to some more experienced scuba divers who joined for this dive. Perfect! This robust safety and customer service approach seems to be the legacy of Gregg Weston, owner of Watersports, who has been teaching snorkeling on Kauai for 20+ years. I first met him at a group orientation and group snorkeling intro at the Wyndham Bali Hai Villas Resort, and I was a little put off by his showmanship. But in one-on-one conversation, it became clear that his passion for safety and a fun experience for his customers runs deep. The chant his daughter performed in the native Hawaiian language at the Wyndham orientation was spellbinding! I'm thankful for this wonderful experience and would recommend these guides to anyone, especially people who are trying snorkeling or scuba for the first time. Be sure to check that you have specific directions to your site the day before. The staff at Wayersports Adventures did, of course, text us the directions when we called them en route because we had forgotten the directions we had. Great service! Can't wait to go again some day!

Wayne and Derek were very knowledgable and friendly, and pointed out turtles, eels and different types of fish.

All i brought with me were my swim fins and an extra bicep leash I had. I was looking for a legit bodyboard rental and the shops I had been to and/or the beach side rental shacks had boards that just werent up to par. I was down the road at Tamba buying tees and the guy there (thankfully) referred me to Kapaa Beach Shop when I asked if he knew of any places that had quality bodyboard rentals. He told me Mike at KBS rented Mike Stewart Science Bodyboards.... The look of shock on my face was probably photo worthy. I couldnt believe the type of place I had been looking for was just down the road. It was already my 2nd time in Kapaa by that point. Kapaa Beach Shop is on your right side along Kuhio Highway if you are coming from the Lihue area. It's right after Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. It has about 4 dedicated spaces out front in its gravel driveway. They rent everything from beach umbrellas, chairs, bicycles, diving and snorkeling gear... You name it. You need it for the beach, he has it. It was jamming with customers the both times I went there but Mike was gracious and helpful with all of us. I was able to rent a hybrid Mike Stewart Science bodyboard which I used at a few beaches on the island. It was great. Thick board with lots of float to it, making catching waves easier. It also came with a Gyroll bicep leash... It was like a setup I would gladly have every day back home. I'm thankful to Mike for the Aloha and just being super cool in providing a quality rental. We chatted it up a bit and you can tell he is legit and really knows his stuff. I HIGHLY recommend you go see Mike at Kapaa Beach Shop for all your beach rental needs. He is the man. Mahalos Mike! Shout out to Chaos the shop dog at KBS. Chee!

Our first boat dive was actually our very first certified dive after getting certified, so I was definitely nervous But Anthony, our divemaster, was incredible. He guided us through the most amazing dive sites, helped us explore caverns, work on our buoyancy, and I got unbelievably close to my favorite sea turtles I got a little seasick because the waters were stormy and choppy during the first dive, but the whole crew encouraged me to get back in for the second one and I'm SO grateful I did because it ended up being one of my favorite dives ever. We loved the experience so much that we booked another shore dive with Cody and it was equally amazing. We got super close to the honus again, ended up right in the middle of a bait ball, saw a HUGE barracuda, and the most beautiful giant mushroom coral. Beyond the dives themselves, the people here were just sooo kind, encouraging, and welcoming. At one point they even gave Tim and me a thumbs up and said we didn't seem like new divers which honestly made our whole day Absolutely loved this shop and will 1000% dive with them again.

Scott was wonderful to work with when we started the planning process, as we were traveling with our 4 year old. Scott initially offered to take my husband and I separately down to dive while the other waited on shore with our daughter, which would have worked, but we chose instead to use Kaua'i childcare to have a nanny watch our daughter at a nearby resort pool via Resort Pass. We chose to do a private dive so that we could do two tank dives each (we dove together on both). Scott provided all gear including dive computers, masks, fins, snacks, and water! He had thought of everything to keep us comfortable and make the day run smoothly. The price was incredible considering the value of the experience! On the dive, we saw several green sea turtles, numerous types of eel including a dragon eel, probably up to 50 different species of fish including the rare fire angel fish, and an elusive harlequin shrimp. One of the best things about booking Kaua'i scuba adventures was that Scott was able to take photos of the dive for us and shared all photos and videos with us immediately after the dive! It was like hiring a private photographer on top of a dive master. 10/10!

If diving off Niihau is on your bucket list and you're hoping to have one of the best dives of your…read morelife...you will not be disappointed. This dive was truly an adventure. We're a family of four (parents and two boys in late teens) who flew to Kauai from a visit in Maui for this dive experience specifically. We've done many of the other Hawaii dives (Molokini back wall, Lanai cathedral, Kona manta rays) and were hoping for something on the wilder side. Fathom Five delivered. The hard part is the "commute." It's a 2.5 hr boat ride (each way) from the pier in Poipu. The head on the boat wasn't working the day we visited, which was a scary prospect. But Fathom Five had the innovation of waterproof beanbags, which made the trips as relaxing and enjoyable as they could be. We thought Drake's attentive driving as we battled back into the afternoon trades helped a lot as well. Sean, our guide, was a true pro. He knew everything about the biology above and below water, the geology of the islands, and the history of Niihau. We dove Vertical Awareness first and immediately knew this was going to be special. We were met by an inquisitive sandbar shark as soon as we got to the bottom and soon saw our first (of probably a dozen) monk seals asleep and nestled into the wall. The visibility was essentially infinite. The layers of volcanic sediment result in crevices that are home to lobsters, eels, and nudibranchs. Bring a dive light. The second dive was the Ledges. The rubble from the collapsed wall of the crater is striking. I just remember thinking to myself while I was underwater, this is the best dive I've ever done. The final dive we did was the Arches. A little less visibility. A little less wildlife. But the swim-throughs might have made it the most memorable. Couldn't recommend this dive and these guys enough for a once in a lifetime experience.
