All i brought with me were my swim fins and an extra bicep leash I had. I was looking for a legit bodyboard rental and the shops I had been to and/or the beach side rental shacks had boards that just werent up to par. I was down the road at Tamba buying tees and the guy there (thankfully) referred me to Kapaa Beach Shop when I asked if he knew of any places that had quality bodyboard rentals. He told me Mike at KBS rented Mike Stewart Science Bodyboards.... The look of shock on my face was probably photo worthy. I couldnt believe the type of place I had been looking for was just down the road. It was already my 2nd time in Kapaa by that point. Kapaa Beach Shop is on your right side along Kuhio Highway if you are coming from the Lihue area. It's right after Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. It has about 4 dedicated spaces out front in its gravel driveway. They rent everything from beach umbrellas, chairs, bicycles, diving and snorkeling gear... You name it. You need it for the beach, he has it. It was jamming with customers the both times I went there but Mike was gracious and helpful with all of us. I was able to rent a hybrid Mike Stewart Science bodyboard which I used at a few beaches on the island. It was great. Thick board with lots of float to it, making catching waves easier. It also came with a Gyroll bicep leash... It was like a setup I would gladly have every day back home. I'm thankful to Mike for the Aloha and just being super cool in providing a quality rental. We chatted it up a bit and you can tell he is legit and really knows his stuff. I HIGHLY recommend you go see Mike at Kapaa Beach Shop for all your beach rental needs. He is the man. Mahalos Mike! From start to finish Fathom Five Divers offered an incredible experience. I picked this shop over the others in the area because their response to my email enquiries were so detailed and helpful. The shop itself is small, but well stocked. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Our instructor for the dives was Devon. She was very knowledgeable and patient with our group. She made the dives fun and educational at the same time. Her passion for diving was infectious. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an instructor or even just a guided dive. For the Enriched Air Diver course our instructor was Reid. He too, was very knowledgable and an excellent teacher. Also, when one of our divers had to cancel one of the course dives they were very accomodating in rescheduling his dive for later. All in all, we felt we were in great hands the entire time, we felt safe, welcome and well attended to!!

Captain Kai was competent, informative, and very funny, as was crewmember Vayden, and Collin's mai tais are not to be missed. The food onboard was delicious and included traditional Hawaiian pulled pork and teriyaki chicken. Scrumptious cookies and bubbly rounded out the evening. Some things to be aware of: This cruise is on a catamaran; some of our party were expecting a small cruise ship that would have been a smoother ride. Waves are bumpy, and the windier parts of the trip resembled a mild roller coaster--if that's not your thing or you know you can experience some motion sickness, please factor that into your decision to book a trip. That being said, one person in our party experienced some light motion sickness and was really well cared for by the crew. We really appreciated their kindness and support. If you have sturdy sea legs and an adventurous spirit, I'd highly recommend this excursion. The views of Kauai from the ocean are worth it alone, but the information from the captain and crew about the island and its culture are also super valuable. The whole experience also felt very safe; the cruise will not go to areas with high wind/surf, and on our trip the captain explained why he was turning out of the wind/waves when he made that decision.

We saw multiple breaches, tail slaps, fluke dives, and surface activity--the whales were active the entire time. The crew positioned the boat so well that we were able to stay in one great viewing spot and still see everything without moving around. The crew was incredibly attentive without being overbearing. Drinks and snacks were always taken care of--Mai Tais, coconut cookies, and snacks kept coming--and it genuinely felt effortless to just relax and enjoy the experience. The team was knowledgeable, calm, and respectful of the whales, offering helpful context without over-talking. The boat was comfortable, well run, and the two-hour length felt just right. If whale watching is on your list in Kauaʻi, Blue Dolphin is an easy recommendation

Cassie, our dive guide, was a great instructor for my young girls (11 and 13yo), to quote my daughter, "I learned so much, but it's like she just talks to you!" I will tell you as an open water, cave & wreck diver that the quality of the instruction was appropriate for the demands of this dive, and excellent. Cassies attention to safety was fantastic, and I was impressed by her ability to give an extremely knowledgeable wildlife tour AND keep my crazy kids together and safe. We went on to get the girls their PADI Open Water certifications with Watersports over the next two weeks. We dove a total of 6 times - incredible Honu, fish, eels, octopi - rare species that are only found here on Kauai. JUST INCREDIBLE. The quality of the instruction and guide service was consistent throughout. I saw many other services there at Koloa - Watersports was not cookie cutter, and spared everyone dry lectures while they were stuck in their wetsuits in the hot sun. Gregg, Cassie's father, is a total pro and keeps everyone safe. GREAT EXPERIENCE & GREAT PEOPLE 10 out of 10!

Not only can you get a free peek of the fishes though some windows located right across Lava Shack you can actually take a dip along with the fishes for the day or your length of stay though the hours here are short 10am to 3pm so plan your experience accordingly your day pass does allow you to enter and exit as you like as for the day it's $25 for adults and $20 for keiki and for your length of stay it's $45 for adults and $35 for keiki. It is a fun option without packing it all up and voyaging out to the beach this fun and cool place makes exploring something new a breeze as everything here is contained to snorkel and explore nothing like I've ever seen and it's Aulani of course. I went shark free diving with One Ocean in Honolulu and it was truly one of the best experiences of…read moremy life! Our crew -- Liko, Tyler, Gina, and Brett -- were incredible. They were extremely knowledgeable, supportive, and had such calm demeanors that instantly put me at ease. I was nervous at first (as anyone would be!), but they helped me feel safe and comfortable from the moment we got in the water. They gave us plenty of opportunities to get close to the sharks, and I actually got really close to a Galapagos shark -- something I'll never forget. I went alone, but ended up making two new friends by the end of it, which made the day even more special. They shared fascinating info about shark behavior and conservation that I didn't know before, and the thoughtful touches were amazing -- cake after the dive, and a warm peppermint towel when we got back on the boat. I'll be getting my videos tomorrow and the photos in a few days, and I seriously cannot wait to relive every second. The experience totally inspired me -- it made me want to go again, and also start snorkeling more where I live! If you're thinking about doing this -- JUST DO IT. One Ocean exceeded every expectation. I had so much fun, and I can't recommend them enough!

Clean, well maintained boat with top of the line custom fishing gear. We even tested a new lure which produced an Ono fish catch!! We booked a 4 hour private tour.
