The Na Pali Experience was truly an experience!  We booked this shared catamaran as a group of 9 and we all enjoyed this wet and wild adventure. As locals from the island of O'ahu, it was great to see the island of Kaua'i. We had Captain Jane and Brian as our guides but it really felt as if they were a part of our group and having a good time all together. Please expect to get wet during this 4-5 hour ride. Upon arrival, they provide one dry bag per person to put your belongings in.  You will receive a confirmation when you book and a follow up reminder one that provides all the information you need such as what to bring. Do not expect it to be a smooth easy sail, it is definitely a ride. If you get motion sickness please prepare yourself with medication, patches, etc. If you start to feel unwell, they are there to assist you and get you feeling better. They might even know you're not feeling well before you do. We booked the 1:00PM tour. Although the morning scheduled times are more likely to see dolphins and turtles, we were lucky enough to see both in the afternoon! Keep in mind seeing the animals is not guaranteed, such as snorkeling. They will determine if the conditions are safe to swim and snorkel as you go along the coast. They provided snorkels, fins and jet ski vests. Snacks, fruits and drinks were also provided. Bring a flask if you would want water so they could fill it for you. Also an important thing to note, there are no restrooms on the catamaran. There are restrooms at the harbour to use before the tour starts. If you really need to go, there is an emergency use only like porta potty or once the water is safe to stop and put the ladder down they will. Also, parking is $20. The Na Pali coast was truly beautiful! The cliffs, valleys, caves, waterfalls, literally everything is breathtaking. Captain Jane and Brian were very knowledgeable with the history and information for the whole coast which makes it even more appreciative. It is sacred land. The only way to view it is from a boat, helicopter or hiking it by foot. When we were done with the tour, they even provided a list of recommendations for different things to do on the island of Kaua'i. Feel free to show appreciation to the crew by leaving a tip! I can't recommend The Na'pali Experience enough. We had an incredible day, and a huge part of that was our amazing crew--Captain Jackson and first mate Mauka. Mauka was warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive, always greeting everyone with a big smile and checking in on guests throughout the trip. Captain Jackson was fantastic--knowledgeable, engaging, and full of fascinating stories about Kauai and the Na'pali Coast that made the experience so much more meaningful. You could tell he knows these waters inside and out. One thing we really appreciated was the size of the boat. It accommodates just 18 passengers, which felt like the perfect balance--large enough to have plenty of comfortable seating and space to move around, but small enough that it never felt crowded or impersonal. We were traveling as a family of five, including a 7-year-old and an 11-year-old, and it was the perfect setup for us. The conditions were fairly windy and the seas were choppy, but Jackson navigated everything with confidence, even taking us into small sea caves when it was safe to do so. We had originally planned to book a rigid inflatable (RIB) boat tour, but in hindsight I'm so glad we ended up on the catamaran given the conditions. The ride was much more comfortable, and the crew did an excellent job looking after anyone who started feeling a little seasick. When we got back to the hotel, we heard several stories from people who had been on other tours where many passengers became quite ill. It really drove home how much the captain matters. An experienced captain and attentive crew can completely change the experience, and we definitely felt like we were in the best hands. If you're trying to decide between tour companies, don't underestimate the importance of the crew. Captain Jackson and Mauka made this an unforgettable experience, and I'd happily book with them again. read more

Captain Ian and Malka were awesome! The tour was incredible - we saw dolphins, turtles, and even some goats! We were able to go all the way inside of multiple sea caves in the boat and got to spend an hour snorkeling as well. We took the private 6 person tour with Captain Jackson. We've been on larger tours in the past but the one yesterday was by far the best!!! Tailored to the weather and our needs. We saw far more of the coast and the caves and had a great guide for cultural and geological explanations of the rock formations . We didn't snorkel due to sea conditions ( fine by us) so had a further coastal experience. I highly recommend spending the extra mo way for this tour. A totally different experience, all positive! My wife and I did a napali coast tour a few years ago on a bigger boat with a different company and huge crowd of passengers so my expectations were set at 7/10 Today blew the previous out of the water to a 10/10 via a few different factors but the team was def the best part -- had a crew of 3 with Capt Dom, RJ, Jake & these guys were great. Banter among them kept it light but they remained professional all while providing the best service and including all guests in convo. To top it off their "tour guiding" / related facts about the coast were great Aside from the team -- loved the smaller boat that could go into the caves, which also made the guest pool smaller around 15. Due to strong winds and swells we could not go in the cave. We were able to get in the water closer to the harbor when the water was calmer. Snacks and drinks were available. Oh my goodness, this was absolutely the highlight of our trip! I cannot praise Na Pali Experience enough! The whole experience was exceptional! Captain Daniel, aka Lieutenant Dan, and Brian, aka Hawaiian Brian were wonderful! Hawaiian Brian made a point to personally introduce himself to everyone and get to know their names and where they were from. Checking in was easy at the small boat harbor. They provide dry bags for everyone and tell everyone to use the bathroom because on the 5-hour tour, your only other option is the "bladder ladder" at the back of the boat, or in the ocean when they let you hop in the water lol! The waves can be rough. We went on the earliest excursion hoping for calmer seas and we still hit some pretty crazy waters. Do yourself a favor and take/bring what you may need if you get sea sick. We had a couple people get sea sick on our trip. Hawaiian Brian was such a sweetheart though and went above and beyond to help make everyone feel comfortable. They offer ginger chews and sprite and even have a little hose for spraying fresh water on hands, feet and face to help get anyone struggling back to 100%. Listen to your body though, because if you wait too long, there's not much they can do to get you back to 100%, but they will try! We just focused on the horizon and we were fine! We were able to complete the journey--I believe they said 17 miles--to the end of the Na Pali coast and it was breathtaking. Sometimes conditions don't allow them to take tours out all the way. We saw two pods of dolphins, a handful of humpback whales--several even breaching--mountain goats, flying fish, etc. The sea caves were CRAZY! It was kind of scary backing up into them, but Lieutenant Dan had it all under control! The highlight was when we stopped for a bit and got to jump into the ocean and swim with that incredible backdrop behind us! We had minimal stops on the way back and enjoyed the great music they were playing! I highly recommend Na Pali Experience! read more

This a really great experience for anyone visiting Kauai! The only ways to see the Na Pali coast is by boat or helicopter and this boat tour was the best way to see the coast and be up close to sea life. There are a number of Na Pali coast tour options, and this is definitely the one you should choose. The boats are a great size and only fit 6, so your tour is much more personalized. Our guide, Daniel, was a lot of fun to hang with -- he gave a great voiceover to the different places we saw and was able to find us dolphins that were so close they were basically in the boat with us. He also cuts pineapple like a chef would (and joking aside, it was the best pineapple of the trip). Another plus about this tour is that the boat is small enough to fit into some of the coves and caves you'll find along the way, and I didn't see any of the other boats squeezing in before or after us. The snorkel spot was perfect, we got about 30 minutes in the water and saw a lot of fish as well as 2 different sea turtles. All that said, this tour is extremely weather dependent. We had the "best sea day in weeks" and it was almost glassy most of the way up the coast, which is pretty rare. The winds picked up on the way back so it was much choppier, and we sure did feel the difference. If you are in Kauai, a Na Pali coast tour is an absolute must. You haven't truly done the island if you miss out. 12/10 would recommend. read more

This trip is not for tourists wanting a nice boat ride. Weather was bad immeditate big swells once we left harbor, water over the bow etc. It was brutal. Several passengers vomiting over the side. I am sure there are plenty of terrific reviews, but this trip should have been cancelled out of safety. read more

We had the pleasure of going out on a catamaran with RJ and Jake. They were both great and friendly and easygoing, which makes a difference in the experience. Unfortunately the weather was awful and it made for a rough experience, not what we had hoped for. Although I'm disappointed that we didn't get the clear skies and easy ride, it was a good experience and an adventure. We ended up having to come back earlier due to the weather, but We saw some beautiful sights and even encountered dolphins. I would recommend this tour in a more clear day and definitely recommend that you plan ahead to not get sea sick. Since you can't predict the weather or the sea, it's better to be prepared.
