We loved our tour AND guide. He was so friendly and had so many great stories. Our family truly enjoyed ourselves. HOWEVER, if you are NOT familiar with kayaking or in good shape it might be a challenge. It's not as easy as it looks and it takes a lot of arm work. The scenery was gorgeous but I found it difficult to enjoy since I was overly focused on paddling and my speed to keep up with the group. With all that said, I'd still highly recommend this business due to the fantastic communication, prepacked lunch (the brownie helped me forget the paddling struggle!) and the awesome tour guide! Just let your guide know UP FRONT you need pointers on kayaking or that you're a slow paddler. read more

We took the kayaking river hike to hidden waterfalls tour and it was a great trip: easy kayaking (I was a beginner); beautiful setting; easy hike; and multiple waterfalls! Nick was our guide who knows his plants, Hawaiian folklore, and history of the island and its people. Nice guy too. Everything you would want in a personal guide, hands down! Capt. We had an amazing time on this tour. Special thanks to Leslie, as my wife and I were trying to figure out how to kayak we fell over into the river , she kept her cool and patience and safely got us back on the kayaks. Let me tell you getting into kayak was not easy, and im sure it was frustrating for everyone, but Leslie kept such a positive attitude the whole time and that really helped make the situation not so scary. We finished the tour, and we are just so grateful. Just to give some details, they do allow you to use waterproof bags that you can put your stuff in, and they give you quick lesson on how to use the paddles. The small hike I believe is about a mile , is nice . We used water shoes and worked well because it was pretty muddy and easy to clean once we got back with a water hose they have . read more

These guys did an excellent job. Started out with kayaks up the river from the Harbour. Was nice and relaxing on smooth water. Then a small hike to a swimming hole then a small trek to the truck that took us up into the mountains on a private Kip ranch where the zip lines were we did two sets and then hiked to another swimming pond. We did have lunch provided along tbe way, either a turkey or veggie sandwich. After the second swim we hiked down to where we left the kayaks and took a motor boat back to the Harbour. The guides were really cool and explained the flora all the way. Super nice and super safe. Highly recommend. read more

Our kayaking, hiking, zip-lining extravaganza with Outfitter's Kaua'i was my personal favorite paid excursion of our trip! The tour guides, Cayman & Tim were knowledgeable about the plant, and other life, and history of the area we toured. And they were tons of fun without sacrificing the safety of the group! Our day started with a kayak trip with Cayman to meet up with Tim who led the tour of Kipu Ranch and shared the history of the ranch, established by William Hyde-Rice in the late 1800's with funds from the Lihue sugar cane plantation. The site, which is largely untouched is best described as jungle environment (with sometimes muddy terrain - so appropriate footwear is a must!), and has even been the site for shooting scenes from Jurassic Park, and other Hollywood favorites. Cayman took the tail for the tour to ensure no one was left behind, and pointed out cool plant life along the way. We were led to a waterhole that we were meant to have the opportunity to swim in, but due to unforeseen circumstances (a fallen tree - ya know, nature does what it wants), the pair had to pivot plans a bit so we headed to the area where we would catch a truck ride to eat, followed by ziplining, and finish up at a larger waterhole for a longer period of time. The food was basic (turkey or veggie sandwiches established at the time of purchasing the tickets), but was sufficient for filling us up. Water, Hawaiian juices, baby carrots, and cookies were also provided. After eating we got to ride two zip-lines, and it was pretty majestic! I enjoyed the water hole, but beware, jumping in at 15 ft at 33 is different than doing so at 16! Be prepared for water to enter your nose, and to lose your breath momentarily. I would recommend ear plugs too if you're sensitive or worried about untreated water entering your ears. I could have gotten by just jumping in from 10ft rather than 15! The guys also took pretty good pictures of everyone during the trip, and it was clear they were all about everyone having a fun and safe trip! 10/10 experience! read more

This was an amazing time!! Started with the kayak, I am not the biggest kayaker but we had the wind on our back so it made it super easy. We got to see the rope swing used in one of the Indiana Jones moves. Then hiked to our first swimming hole where we swam for a little. Then hiked to a truck that took us to the zip line! The zip line was awesome and tons of fun. Then we hiked to the second swimming hole. This was by far my favorite, I didn't want to leave! The water felt amazing and there was a rope swing to jump in! We had Eli and Margret, and one other person who I can't remember his name but he was a local Hawaiian and had tons of information about the island. I really enjoyed this! read more

I did the 10 a.m. Hidden Valley Falls Kayak Adventure. Our kayak guide, Patti, was awesome. She had an excellent process to efficiently get everyone equipped and out onto the water. It gave the impression she's done this a lot. She did all the manual labor moving the kayaks to the water's edge, helping people into the kayaks, and launching them into the water. It seemed odd to me that we were paddling UP stream and then having a motor boat bring us back DOWN stream. Turns out there's very little current in this stream, and the winds blow pretty strong from behind you. If you don't paddle, the winds will push you up the stream. It was a very easy, relaxing paddle. Along the way, we got to see several hau yellow hibiscus or sea hibiscus flowers (Hibiscus tiliaceus). I was surprised to learn from our guide that they bloom yellow one morning, turn orange as they are exposed to the sun, shrivel up and fall off at the end of the day. So the flowers we saw today will be gone tomorrow. We also saw African tulips and lots of kukui nuts. The hike was not difficult. My GPS watch registered 1.1 miles. It was fairly muddy and slippery in some spots. The waterfalls were amazingly beautiful though, and well worth the short hike, and we learned a lot from our guide during the hike. Two things I wish I had known before I signed up: 1. Time Length. The website doesn't specify how long it lasts other than being able to paddle for 60-90 minutes. For a 10 a.m. tour, the motor boat to pick you up and bring you back plans to pick you up at 1 p.m. We got back to the dock about 1:30 p.m. I got back to my hotel for lunch at 2 p.m. If I had known that, I would have packed more of a snack lunch to bring with me. A few other people broke out sandwiches and wraps they had brought with them to eat during the boat ride back. I would have done the same if I had realized we were going to be gone that long. 2. Dry Bags. I didn't bring my dry bag from home, so I went minimalist and didn't bring much with me when I walked over from my hotel. They actually provide dry bags. If I had known that, I would have brought a towel, extra sun screen, my wallet, and snacks. Overall, great trip! I highly recommend it. read more

Even though it was not on MY Bucket List, my sister (age 65) felt it was her duty to take me ziplining for my 75th birthday. Who was I to question her sisterly judgment or lightning fast ability to sign us up online? Our group had nine newbies which included a spry 70-year old grandpa and two fun-loving ladies (Claudia and Bettina) plus two photographers who swore they would record our final facial expressions should words fail us. We had super fun guides - Tanner and Lono - who answered every ridiculous question that popped into our heads (or their heads) while repeatedly checking our equipment and reassuring us kindly and convincingly that they had never lost a body to gravity (or was it a cellphone?) in all the many years they worked at Outfitters (that would be respectively two and five, I think).
