Our experience with Kauai Sea Tours with Captain Evan and his crew was absolutely incredible -- easily one of the highlights of our trip! From the moment we boarded, the crew was attentive, fun, and genuinely hilarious, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. They took such great care of us throughout the day, starting with pastries and fresh fruit for breakfast, followed by a build-your-own sandwich lunch (with options like wheat/white bread, turkey, ham, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, greens, mayo, and mustard), plus pasta salad and chips. Everything was simple but perfect for a day out on the water. We started with about 45 minutes of snorkeling, and it was AMAZING. We saw so much marine life -- turtles, huge fish, puffer fish, eels, and more. Truly such a special experience being able to see everything up close. Then came the breathtaking views of the Na Pali Coast, with its dramatic cliffs and beautiful waterfalls -- absolutely stunning. As if that wasn't enough, we also got to sail alongside dolphins and even spotted more than 3 whales, which was so magical! Hi, I'm sharing my experience on the Lucky Lady catamaran tour booked through the Marriott Beach Club concierge on Kauai--and unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing and honestly felt unsafe. The weather conditions were very rough, with high waves making the ride intense and uncomfortable. Nearly everyone on board was getting sick , including many adults and small children who were crying and clearly distressed. Passengers were completely soaked from the constant spray and rough seas. Although the captain and Sea crew tried to keep the passengers calm. This didn't feel like a safe or enjoyable excursion, especially for families. There should have been better judgment regarding the weather conditions before proceeding with the tour. I would strongly recommend reconsidering booking this excursion in questionable weather, as this experience was far from what we expected. read more

I can't say enough about Kaua'i Sea Tours. In January 2026 in Kauai the weather is in gods hands. This captain was so amazing as well as every single deck hand. ALL of them were a 10/10. They assisted us "older folks" walking around the boat, were so informative, served an amazing lunch and breakfast. It was a bit choppy but nothing anyone couldn't handle. We saw dolphins, turtles and YES humpbacks were active and plentiful! We did have to reroute due to weather but to be 100% honest I would have not traded that trip experience for anything. Just be in the moment or you might not get the whale breaching and worse miss hearing the magical sound of the blow hole spray. I will be in awe for quite some time. The guests were snorkeling with turtles, all having just the time of their lives Do not miss this trip with the amazing crew who were absolutely huge in making sure we were well taken care of. Capt Kauai, Capt Dawn, Lauren and Liz are FANTASTIC! Super high energy, caring, knowledgeable, and deeply dedicated to making sure we had a great time. My husband and I spent most of the catamaran trip on the bow pulpit while other guests were hiding from the rain and rough seas inside. We had a BLAST riding the swells, and the crew knew us by name making it extra special. The views of the Na Pali Coast were unforgettable, and the crew offered numerous times to take photos for us. We saw dolphins, stopped for a few pods of whales (but no "whale-waiting" haha) and had some super close-up views of majestic Hawaiian landmarks. Capt Kauai told tons of stories - legends and "science" - and entertained us with humor and acrobatics. This was one of the highlights of our trip despite the snorkeling not being the best (but I did see a seal!). My husband had plenty to eat and he eats quite a bit. I didn't eat since boats and food don't sit well with my stomach. The pep talk Capt Kauai gave at the beginning about not getting seasick made all the difference for me! Drinks were served as well, which I'm sure would have been more appreciated on a warm, summer, calm-seas kind of day. I don't think anyone was drinking the day we went. Again, so impressed by the crew who cared so well for all the people who were seasick that day. I couldn't believe how many people didn't handle the waves well. It was a beautiful day and a nice power catamaran boat with nice size bathrooms. We booked through the hotel concierge. Departed at 8 am we had a nice breeze and sunny skies, as soon as we cleared the Harbor they found a spot for the snorkeling. I thought it was supposed to be on the Na Pali coast, and that was a big disappointment . They supplied the snorkel but no fins or towels like the one we had previously gone on in Kailua-Kona where they also supplied reef friendly sunscreen. The food was skimpy, breakfast being store bought muffins, pastries sliced into 1 inch sections, spam and tofu sushi--only 1 piece and fresh fruit. My husband was behind me and picked a muffin and pastry and put it on his plate but the staff member told my husband he could only have one or the other and had him put the muffin back. What!! Lunch was steamed rice, salad, and teriyaki chicken which was good but over the watchful eye I only took 1 piece for fear of being humiliated. Trip was nice and scenery was beautiful, the captain that was telling you the story was really good when you could hear it, but the sound system was very bad and we couldn't hear most of it. We went on the Body Glove at Kailua Kona and they know how to do it right I would recommend them going over there taking a ride to see how it's done .........this one was $80 per person more as well... Would I go again?....no would I recommend this one ? Maybe, but I would look at the other tours first. Erin was the best thing on the trip! She was watchful and helping people get around on the boat, quick with helping people drink wise as well as taking photos. The captain Greg was also quick to slow down for us to do some whale watching which we enjoyed quite a bit. We had a magnificent time out on the water with these guys! The trip out to the Na Pali Coast was both safe and fun! We had a chance to marvel at the coast, sail with dolphins, snorkel (saw a reef shark), and enjoyed dinner and the sunset. It was just a fantastic day on the water. They're great with kids too! Everyone was able to fit the available snorkel gear and the boat moored long enough to really enjoy the water and not feel rushed. Our time on the Lady Kailani was a memorable one, for sure! Amazing crew, amazing views, and amazing dinner. I was so impressed on how balanced they were in serving drinks and food without dropping anything. They were also skilled in helping folks move throughout the boat. The passenger seated next to me unfortunately threw up all over herself, which the crew did their best to promptly clean up. Unfortunately, I could still smell the vomit despite their best efforts to clean, so we chose to sit elsewhere. May I recommend that the crew get a spray bottle of enzyme pet spray? 10 out of 10 for my wife and I. We kinda didn't realize what we were getting ourselves into, when we signed up. I had imagined that we would be boarding a much larger vessel and that we could choose to sun ourselves on the upper deck, or go below and try our hands at a game of baccarat with our fellow international travelers. Just before departure, one of the deck hands of Scandinavian decent, dressed in a cute and spiffy nautical-style skirt and starched white blouse uniform would then serve us the first course of caviar. One of the towel boys would synchronize the first course by immediately popping open the first jeroboam of champagne. I'm kidding! We knew it was going to be, "a bit of an adventure", but the boat really-truly was a little bit smaller than I imagined. The ride was, as our captain would later describe, "A mixture between riding a bull at a rodeo and a roller coaster." (at least parts of the ride would become so). But... what fun it was, and the small size and speed of the boat allowed us to quickly outpace the other larger craft (not that it was a race--but "Neener, neener, neener! Ha. Ha. Our boat is faster than yours!!").(jk) The small size and nimbleness of our super-charged pontoon boat would later allow us to slip into the water caves along the cliffs and then narrowly escape the clutches of an angry sea. (*the waters were only a slightly-more than medium-level choppy that day, so it was more of an, "annoyed sea." situation) The boat was similar to what Navy seals use when sneaking into secret lairs to extract or eliminate high ranking foreign generals deemed threats to national security. I looked it up on the internet and found out that these boats are called, high-speed Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs) and they actually are used for insertion and extraction. That little boat could "giddy-up and go". Our captain, ( code name: Zack) was immediately likable. He gave off an aura that made us feel confident in his skills and knowledge of the sea. Before leaving the harbor, we were pretty-sure that he was going to to get us to our cliff-side destination and back safely. As we got to know him on the 6-hour tour, he shared great stories and a boat-load of information about Hawaii. He cracked a few corny jokes, and generally showed us that he cares deeply about those in his boat, that he wanted us to have a good time, and was a confident and skilled water-man. It was fun to watch him navigate the waves by accelerating and then shutting down the craft to allow us to not be tossed around like dice in a shaker cup. Deck-hand, Duff, was also a good guy and added to the experience with his laid back, but focused energy. The sights that we were treated to made me feel super privileged and appreciative. The highlight of the tour, of course, is the honor of viewing cliffs that rise thousands of feet straight out of the waters of Kauai's Na Pali coast. Stunning beauty! (That term, "stunning beauty", is over-used, but in this case, the beauty of the area, is literally stunning.) I could feel myself getting a bit choked-up by just how amazing the views were. There are few spots in the world that can compare. We also swam amongst sea turtles and reef fishes. On the way out, a pod of spinner dolphins, in resting-mode ,ambled by. A couple of 'em sprang from the waters to show off a bit. Like a finely crafted cocktail, the day had a nice combination of high adventure, camaraderie between the ship-mates that we just met, and the peacefulness that can be found when one is floating amongst sea life with a snorkel and dive mask. "10 out of 10!", I say again! *I normally try to include photos with my reviews, but my wife was in a swim suit (she is not cool with my posting) ... and my thong was chaffing me, so ironically, no photos. (ironic--because this is one of the most photographic spots on the planet. Oh, and I wasn't wearing a thong...that was a dumb joke.) read more

The service was noticeably better, and the vegan options were far superior. We did the sunset boat tour, and it somehow just kept getting better. We saw a ton of whales, and the trip even ran a little longer because the captain made sure we stayed out to catch as many sightings as possible. That alone says everything about how much they care about the experience--not rushing, just pure magic. Huge shoutout to Evan, our captain--very cool, super chill, genuinely funny, and clearly knows these waters inside and out. His relaxed vibe and willingness to keep us out longer made the whole trip feel extra special. And Erin was amazing--constantly checking in, making sure we had everything we needed, and bringing the kindest, most attentive energy. She truly made everyone feel cared for. The food was also a big win. The Mexican dinner spread had lots of thoughtful vegan options, including tofu, and everything was delicious--no sad vegan meals here. Awesome adventure cruise up the Napali coast! We did a non-snorkeling tour sunset cruise. It was so fun and the captain and crew were so kind and caring the entire 5 hour journey. Highly recommend bringing layers (it gets windy and you will get wet!) and taking Dramamine BEFORE you get on the cruise. (About 10 guests got really sick and were puking in buckets). They serve unlimited soda/water and drinks as well as a buffet taco dinner (tasted a lot like Chipotle). Been to Kauai 3 times and this was a bucket list to do and we were glad we did it. read more

Very disappointing experience -- would give 0 stars if possible. We booked a sunset Nā Pali tour through the Sheraton Kauai Villas concierge for 10/09. Unfortunately, our flight 10/08 was forced to return mid-air due to a medical emergency onboard, and the flight was later cancelled. I called the tour operator the next morning to explain the situation as they were closed already when we landed back in LA -- even mentioning that the hotel concierge had already emailed them -- but I was abruptly interrupted and told they "couldn't take my word for it." I offered to forward Delta's official notice confirming the flight disruption, but they refused to even hear me out. As someone who works in hospitality, I understand policies -- but I also understand empathy, professionalism, and fairness. A simple credit or rebooking option would have shown genuine customer care. I got to swim with turtles in the wild. Enough said. If you go on one of their tours,be mindful, be demure - give wildlife space and don't harass. I get it, we all get excited, but no need to get all up in their space. Okay, aside from that. The trip was phenomenal. We boarded our sea vessel around 815 and rode up to the Napali coast stopping along the way to learn about some of the formations, waterfalls and rocks that are significant to Hawaiian culture. Saw some of the most beautiful panoramas and blues of the ocean. We also watched some dolphins who were doing their thing and putting on a show. The crew was fun and chill! I recommend booking ahead, being on time (try to get there 10-15min early to apply sunscreen/use the restroom), and following the captains' instructions. Bring towels, sunscreen, your phone/camera, and be prepared for an adventure! They provide waterproof bags for your things. We started at 7am tour- we had a granola bar and coffee before coming. They provide coffee/tea which is nice. During the tour, they provided breakfast sandwiches, cold drinks, and snacks spaced out. Ren was extremely skilled with guiding the boat through choppy waters on the way back to the dock especially! She and Josh made our tour so memorable! They took great pics/videos for each group. The experience felt purely transactional, like once they had the money, the customer didn't matter. If Kauai Sea Tours is willing to work with me and show some basic human decency, I will happily remove this review. I took the Lucky Lady Na Pali Sunset Tour. You meet at Port Allen. You take off your shoes because the boat flooring has more traction when you're barefoot, but they will let you keep your shoes on, if you want. Don't worry about being at the front of the line because once you take off from the shore, everyone moves around the boat and there's more than enough seating all over the boat. The staff provide soda, water, and snacks. There's two restrooms on the boat. Depending on the wind and waves, the ride can get choppy and bouncy. I don't typically get seasick but even I was seasick. You get very wet, my clothes were soaked. I'd recommend buying a waterproof phone case. You get close to the caves but the boat can't fit inside. Dinner is make your own chicken or pork tacos, with cookies and brownies for dessert. They also provide mai tai's! This was the 1:15pm ride and they got back at 7:45pm. The Na Pali coast is absolutely breathtaking!! And then you see a sunset over the horizon. The only thing that weren't great was Leanne from the office told me you don't get wet much, but she was wrong because we all got soaked. Also, the captain was Captain Kauai and he made several sexual jokes, and there were children on board. read more

I joined the 7:00 AM raft tour yesterday morning, and I just wanted to say how incredible the experience was -- largely thanks to our captain, Josh. Josh is honestly the funniest Kauai local I've ever met. He kept the entire 5-hour tour engaging and never boring, which is not easy to do on the ocean that early in the morning. His energy, humor, and storytelling made the whole trip fly by. He was also thoughtful, polite, and very attentive to everyone on board. The way he guided us through the sea caves along the coast was both thrilling and unforgettable -- exciting but always felt safe. (The whale was rare bc it's still too early for them to be in that location to breed). Naya said someone must be manifesting this because we were lucky with the amount of sea life we were seeing. (I legit had been manifesting it days leading up to this). The dolphins were so playful and so close to us. We also snorkeled, saw a ton of fish and got to swim in front of "The Cathedrals" of the coast. Naya is such a bad@ss! She is so knowledgeable and funny. And I loved that we both shared our dolphin stories with each other (both having a history with them) Because of the amount of sea life we were experiencing and she saw how excited everyone was on the boat- she made sure we had plenty of time hanging around with them. . Choose another company who are truthful. Day before trip i got an urgent text that my trip was cancelled. i carefully chose a larger boat to accommodate my 89 year old mother. When i called in I was told the difference between a substitute boat ( the one i chose needed maintenance i guess last minute) was 5 feet. Uh not even close. Complete lies . This was said to not have to refund for their lack of planning and prep. The alternate boat was a small catamaran for snorkeling tours. They would not refund the over 600 dollars paid for our family. The lady at the counter had a nasty racist attitude and clearly dislikes tourists. Maybe she needs a new career like car repos. That was her demeanor. They will take you out to sea with any conditions and under lies and false pretenses. Avoid like the plague. read more

This is a 5'sh tour that will most likely encounter rough waters. So if you are prone in the SLIGHTEST to seasickness, I DO NOT RECOMMEND. A bunch of us went and I am the only one who does not have sea legs out of the group and ALL of us were vomiting by the halfway point--which also included 60% of the passengers aboard. We were all also on prescription anti-nausea meds. The tour itself was meh---as the main goal was to snorkel near Na Pali, which is not reachable by auto. Besides the rough waters (we went on the afternoon cruise and it started off calm) there really was not much variety to see--which you couldn't experience from any beach on land. The crew was however exemplary! Kind, helpful and compassionate. However for the $200+/person to be miserable = not. Even for those who did not get ill, the experience on sea was too long with the snorkeling part being only 35min and very restrictive space wise as there were 7 other tours in the same small area. Saw 2 small tropical fish. Looked at a cave in passing and the sunset--again you can do this from land and have the same experience. Save your money and rent snorkel gear on the beach for $25 and watch the sunset from a nice restaurant. read more

This company took a cancellation from someone other than us for our reservation and when we showed up to check in the "service" staff told us it was cancelled( not by us but they have no way of knowing who). The trip cost had been refunded and we could not sail that day. The refund is pending as it takes 5-7 days for our money to be returned. The staffs attitude was unconcerned and uncaring as to why we our reservation got cancelled. And even less attention to a solution until we pushed them. The solution was to re book another day and after some time offerings a discount. I will never spend my money with Kauai Sea Tours. There are lots of choices folks. Kauai Sea Tours is so good! I've never done another cruise of this type, but I can't imagine anyone being any better. The captain was incredibly nice and very informative about all of the sights we saw, and he made sure to keep his eye out for marine wildlife and stop for turtles and dolphins. The crew were super friendly and very attentive. Keke and Eme were fantastic and engaged passengers with nice conversation. We had one gal on our trip who, sadly, had bad sea sickness. Both Keke and Eme did their best to look after her and tried to ensure her comfort. The snorkeling was fun, but years and years of people NOT using reef-safe sunscreen shows. The only corals were some small acropora and some sponges, but that was it. That also means not a lot of fish. If you've read this far, PLEASE make sure that you use REEF-SAFE sunscreen. It's a fantastic experience, I would do it again , and I would highly recommend Kauai Sea Tours to everyone. read more
