Capt Andy's is great! They have truly wonderful customer service and have polished their outings down to the last detail. Our entire crew was wonderful. IMPORTANT NOTE: we all ended up getting sea sick (there was 5 of us), but this was not the fault of the crew at all--we learned we are all just prone to sea sickness. Especially as you near the Napali coast, it is very bumpy. Note that you will be on the boat for around 5 hours--if you are prone to motion sickness at all, we would not recommend this. It inevitably gets bumpy and for five hours, it is a lot to handle for anyone who is not an experienced with boats/sailing. ***Also note: this is not mainly a snorkeling excursion. We signed up thinking the focus would be snorkeling, but we went to a sub-par snorkeling spot (barely saw any fish) for around 45 minutes than were back on the boat for the rest of the time. This excursion is mainly about being on the boat and seeing the Napali Coast, which is very beautiful. However, overall, if you are looking for a snorkeling outing or are prone to seasickness, I would pass on this. You can see the Napali via helicopter, which may be the better option. The ride is so bumpy near the coast that it is hard to enjoy the beauty. This outing is quite expensive so we just want people to be aware of the drawbacks ahead of booking. Again, Capt Andy's is WONDERFUL and were so kind and entertaining the whole day, it is just quite a long time to be on the boat if you're not accustomed to it. If you're looking for a boating excursion, want to see the Napali Coast by boat, and don't get sea sick at all, Capt Andy's is the way to go. read more

Deed's in particular took my daughter under her wing when she was a little nervous in the beginning and made her feel right at home on the boat! The raft expedition is no joke...it was a real adventure! The Na Pali coastline was absolutely breathtaking and we are so happy we got to enjoy it on a fun raft! The lunch break was fantastic, including great food and a fun walking tour. Conditions dictated that we weren't able to do snorkel, but the crew made up for it with other activities. The energy and the vibe of the crew really made this an epic adventure. If you are on Kauai - do this trip. (We did the sunset dinner cruise). You deserve it. Was a highlight of our trip, and my partner just kept saying "Epic" over and over as words failed him. First, this company is incredibly well run. It's smooth sailing (pun intended) from start to finish. Easy online sign up, good reminders, and tons of needed info was provided. We knew how to dress, how to prepare, and what to expect. The team they put together was so great. Our amazing Captain was really skilled, and you could tell she was all pro. The ride was smooth and we even got in some sailing in the lower winds. She managed some rolling waves like they were nothing and could not have felt safer. Our chef Kevin (we also learned is the company's Training Officer) did an unreal job. While we sailed, we enjoyed delicious cocktails, and a wonderful meal - tasty appetizers, really well cooked and season steak and fish, and a cheesecake treat to finish. The drink were flowing all trip long and it made this sunset dinner cruise feel like an elite party with our 45 new friends. The crew was also so great. Whether it was their charm, their attention to detail, or just their warmth, Noah, Caleb, and Timmy were top notch. They managed to do all their work, keep the ride steady, spot amazing marine life (we got frolicking dolphins AND a mama/baby whale sighting), keep us fed, run drinks, tell jokes, share stories about this lovely place they live. These guys have all the skills you need for this kind of engaging tour. And of course, the views. Now, this company didn't create this coastline - but they know exactly how to spotlight it. I can't recommend this company and experience enough, my wife and I were able to get a last minute booking with them after another excursion was cancelled. We went with the Na Pali Raft Snorkel Tour, our guides Captain Jacob and first mate Logan were incredible from start to finish. They were extremely knowledgeable about the local Hawaiian history and all that the coast had to offer. Keep in mind the raft version of the tour is physically demanding so be wary of that but it is totally worth it. We got to swim in the open ocean off the coast, they took us inside a few of the caves (only available depending on conditions), the provided snacks and refreshments. Absolutely incredible experience with Captain Andy's crew! Maddy and Zalin were hands down the best--so friendly, funny, and made us feel completely safe the entire time. We were lucky enough to go into the caves thanks to the weather, and Maddie navigating had us feeling at ease the whole ride. Thanks to Zalin also for keeping the energy up with his humor, sharing interesting facts about Hawaiian culture, and making sure we got back to shore safely. The crew truly went above and beyond--they even got us fresh coconuts and made sure everyone felt included (and not shy!). The President was the Captain of our boat. It comes with lunch and an open bar! You'll definitely get wet so pack extra clothes if needed. The front of the boat has trampolines you can sit on. It's fun as hell when you hit the waves just right and get soaked. The snorkeling is definitely an experience you won't forget. And getting to travel along the coast, you'll see plenty of beautiful scenery and perhaps some of the marine life! Look out for the dolphins, if you get lucky, you might catch them jumping next to the boat! Recommended you also take your motion sickness pills, maybe double before the trip. Located at the boat dock at Ele'ele...which is where all the whale/dolphin watching boats leave from. We bought the 2 hours raft whale watching tour at 7:00am. It can fit a max of 12 people. Unlike the photos online, we didn't straddle the raft, but sat sideways with our feet under rope for safety. One boat captain and one staff came along. We got to see a mother and baby dolphin, just born that week, and some spinner dolphins. This raft was swift, and towards the end, we saw a whale breach from the water. It is definitely worth going on the earlier tours. We felt so special cuz we had an amazing crew, and we saw more whales than the other 5 companies that went out that morning. Was looking for the best Na Pali Coast Tour for my family's Kauai vacay (5 adults) and came across Captain Andy's as #1. We booked the morning tour on a beautiful day, not a cloud in sight. Huge shoutout to Captain Gabe, Cherry, Jace and Chef Deon. Their crew service was amazing, they always made sure everyone was ok (some were feeling seasick, please take motion sickness medicine if you are prone even if the water looks calm). Captain Andy's really knows what they are doing. The boat is in excellent shape, clean, newer looking and higher end. Everything feels luxury especially compared to other tourist boat tours. We did the snorkel sail to the Napali Coast. The food was excellent, the chef really put a lot into lunch, burgers and chicken with some good slaw, and a fresh cookie at the end was a nice touch. Breakfast was lighter with muffins and fruit. Staff were super friendly, they put effort into getting to know the guests and making you feel at home. Which is totally not necessary. The boat ride was fantastic, we saw so much of the Napali coast and were mesmerized. It felt unreal to experience that much beauty. We saw lots of fish snorkeling, they are very strict with allowing you to only swim in certain areas. Some of it being safety concerns. We will recommend them to everyone we know visiting Kauia. Captain Kyler and the whole crew who took us on a tour of the Na Pali Coast did a phenomenal job! We started the trek out to the coast by seeing some dolphins and sitting on the netted area in the front of the catamaran boat. It definitely was a splash zone but so fun! They offered a light breakfast with sweet breads, muffins, and fruit. We saw the spinner dolphins who were resting but still moving. It was so cool to see! Shortly after, we stopped under a beautiful mountainside of the Na Pali Coast to go snorkeling. The water temperature was perfect and the water color was beautiful. Kyler, Tahane, and Donovan were so organized and helpful when making sure everyone was set up okay since the waves were kind of aggressive. From our arrival at their office just before sunrise to the actual tour and back everything was top notch. We got to sail with Captain Larry and his crew, Greg, John, and chef Johnny. They were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious. Half pound burgers with a homemade slaw and baked beans. Then a delicious homemade macadamia nut chip cookie. So soft and chewy! The coast was breathtakingly beautiful. Pictures just don't do it justice. Being there in December we weren't sure how the water would be but we were happy that what seemed like a stormy morning turn into a beautiful day at sea. Yes there were waves but not out of control crazy. My husband who often gets seas sick did fine. Made the ride back adventurous. Everyone was laughing and having fun. Captain Larry had a playlist that was enjoyed by all. It became one big singalong. There were several people that did get sea sick. I We even saw a couple whales. This was my second tour by boat around the Napali Coast. This coast is the prettiest I've seen in my life and I wanted my daughter to experience it. Our last tour was by raft which was quite rough. These waves are not calm and can rock the boat (pun intended). Captain Andy's provides catamarans that devour the big waves which make the ride so much more bearable than a raft. However, you do pay the price for the luxury. They also provide coffee, ice cold water, soft drinks, and other services like knowledge about the islands. My daughter had a cut on her leg from the day before and one of the crew members brought us three different bandaid options for her. I thought that was great attention to detail. Dinner is what's expected on a boat feeding 30 guests. You get appetizers (the best part), bread with cheese and delicious prawns. You get an option of mahi mahi and filet for your entree and a salad. We sat next to a couple who were not comfortable during dinner due to the boat inactivity. When the boat is standing still, it rocks and rocks which can lead to getting seasick. I felt it a little and others felt it more. I loved this tour and I hope to continue taking tours of the Napali Coast, hopefully finding one a little shorter than this five hour sunset cruise. I think it was an hour too long. Although, if this is what I have to endure to get a beautiful view like the Napali Coast, then I guess I'm ok with it. I appreciate the captains attention to detail and pointing out important parts of the tour like the wettest place in the world. read more

We had a large family reunion that went on this tour. We had half the boat. Besides the fact that it was insanely expensive, part of the tour said snorkeling. The extent of the snorkeling was a quick little stop about 15 mins from the dock. There were hardly any fish or anything to see. We were way too high and the water too murky. Worst snorkeling I've ever done. Don't do this trip for the snorkeling. Also, the meals on board are nothing to get excited about. They were all right but nothing like advertised. And the free drink bar that they say is not that at all; every time you want a soda or anything you have to ask a crewmember to get it for you so you end up not getting any drinks ever. And the sodas they have on board are gross. It's not Coke or Pepsi products. It's some offbrand nasty soda. Crew were nice, but it was not at all what I was expecting. So check your expectations and don't take it for snorkeling. Don't take it for the food. The scenery was great, but that's about it and we saw some good wildlife but you can get that on any tour. also, the way back was miserable. It was windy and raining and cold and it was like everybody was just waiting to get back. Nothing was happening and it was crazy. The last hour of the tour was just miserable waiting to get back to the dock. read more

The Napali Star is an incredibly stable boat so it was very easy to take photos, enjoy beverages and eat the deliciousness prepared on board by chef Mark! Capt Andy's was well worth the money! We ended up doing the 6 hour excursion (would recommend this 100% if you do it!) and had the chance to experience seeing dolphins, a variety of birds, and I thoroughly enjoyed scuba diving! Zoee and Victoria were both very fun, engaging, attentive, and full of jokes throughout - most importantly, they created a safe environment for everyone. I would love to add that the waterfalls, caves, scenery, and numerous fish and birds were well worth the wait and spread throughout the tour. The storytelling made it especially fun from both Victoria and Zoee as it pertained to many of the different areas. I personally loved the workout from hanging onto the ropes as the boat propelled along the water throughout the day and thought that Victoria did a fantastic job making the trip as comfortable as possible. The food was fantastic - we had a turkey sandwich, tortellinis, pineapple, and cookies post-dive and before going on a nice archeological tour! Out scuba diving, I managed to see turtles, a variety of fish, and even was caught off guard by an eel that I startled that would go under a rock - would later learn that they can be aggressive and chase so it's good that I stopped! Haha. All and all, a really fun day and I would go just for the sake of scuba diving again out on this secluded side of the island again in a heartbeat. I would lastly recommend a waterproof case/attachment for your phone to not lose it and also use it under water...or a go pro. I personally failed on both accords here to bring either of these! We had a wonderful time on the Nepali coast sunset dinner cruise in our recent visit to Kauai. The huge, stable 65' catamaran held 49 people and departed around 2 and returned around 7, just after the 6:48pm sunset. Despite having to endure a 10-min torrential rain as we headed up the coast, the waters along the coast were relatively calm and the sun soon reappeared (I was glad to have packed a towel). The excellent captain, Dave and crew Cherry, Daven (?) And chef Candy(?) worked really hard to ensure a good time for all. It was great chatting with other guests ranging from families with college kids to seniors on a trip of a lifetime to baby-mooners. Despite it getting a bit late in the season, we also were treated to many whales jumping and frolicking along the 60-mile round trip up the coast. Even with 49 guests, it didn't really feel too crowded and there were places to sit and enjoy the meal which definitely exceeded my expectations. The filet mignon was grilled and served with salad, veggies and a nice lime cheesecake dessert. The price included soft drinks as well as wine, beer and MaiTais a plenty. The night we went they had enough interest to send out three boats. They definitely do a first rate job. read more

My family and friends enjoyed this outing a few weeks ago and I would say that overall it was a great experience. Sights - the Napali Coast is absolutely gorgeous and I felt that this was probably the highlight of the trip! The snorkeling was nice, we were able to see some fish but the conditions were just ok (kinda wavy) so some of the kiddos got seasick. We were also able to see a dolphin on the way out and a whale on the way back! 5 stars Food - There were some snacks to begin the tour and then there was the lunch which were 1/2 lb burgers and chicken sandwiches which tasted pretty good in my opinion. My wife thought the chicken sandwich was just ok. Drinks were pretty much unlimited with alcohol being served a little after the tour started. 4 stars. Crew/Service - I think this is probably where the tour shines the most. I felt our crew of Captain Larry, Deion, Donnie and Steve really took care of us and were very helpful in so many ways! They would constantly check in with everyone to make sure everything was good and I really appreciated that! 5 stars for sure! I think the main drawback of this trip is that there is definitely a chance for people to get seasick. I would highly recommend either a motion sickness patch or dramamine because if you do get sick this will feel like the longest boat tour ever! I would say all the kids felt a bit seasick and some adults as well but this is something that happens when you go out to sea so I wouldn't necessarily ding the tour for it. As others have noted, this was the highlight of my trip! Seeing the Na Pali coast was amazing but I am not reviewing the Na Pali coast but rather Capt Andy. The booking process was easy. I used their website. The instructions that I recieved were clear and I had no problem finding Capt Andy's and parking in Port Allen. The crew was very friendly and personable and the captain pointed out whales and dolphins while giving us tour information as to what we were seeing along the coastline. We've been going on Captain Andy's for over 20 years and it's still one of our favorite things to do every time we're in Kauai. Our favorite time to go is January and February, and this trip did not disappoint. We saw two different kinds of dolphins and even some whales, which was so fun to experience out on the water. We also got really lucky with the weather, so the ride was nice and smooth. The Napali Coast was absolutely beautiful, no matter how many times you see it. Our captain and crew were great, super friendly, and made the whole trip even better. They served breakfast and a really good lunch on the boat, and the drink selection was solid. Beer, prosecco, wine, hard seltzers, plus sodas, tea, coffee, and water. One tip, if you sit at the front of the boat, plan on getting wet, but honestly that's part of the fun. We definitely recommend Captain Andy's. It's a must do when you're in Kauai and something we'll keep coming back to. read more

Dane and his crew of Braden, Noah, Katy and Roland were amazing! Beyond some of the best customer service we've ever encountered, they all were sure spend time with everyone on board to answer questions and share their island culture and knowledge. My husband and I did the Star Snorkel BBQ Sail. Everything was amazing from start to finish. We had captain dane, and he was awesome. He was super thorough in explaining all the safety stuff which I really appreciated. He was also great at pointing out wild life for us all to see. The tour started with an hour of snorkeling. We saw fish, turtles, and even some dolphins. It was a beautiful experience. Then they took us to the Na Pali coast. There was a northwest swell that day and about half of our boat got sea sick. The team was great at making sure we had water and anything we needed to help us feel better. Then we had lunch. They had a cheeseburger or a chicken sandwich for lunch. They also had a vegetarian option but I think it had to be preordered. The burger was really big! We would highly recommend this tour. Thanks to Dane, Mike, Roland, Anya, Jules and everyone else from the captain andy team for making this such a great experience. They also have a photographer there that will take any pictures you'd like both in and out of the water. Then at the end of the tour you can see your photos and have an option to purchase a package. The package comes with the photos of you as well as wild life photos taken. This is a great option if you want photos but want to be in the moment enjoying everything rather than having to take pictures. Incredibly experience all around!! read more

We went out today with captain Rob any first mate Dylan and had a wicked good time! I really enjoyed all the information and interesting facts about the island and these two were super outgoing and fun! The views were breathtaking, got to see a mother whale with her calf and even witnessed the calf completely jump out of the water. We took the Napali coast snorkeling tour from Capt Andy's and everything was top notch. The crew was friendly, informative and anticipated every need. We were on a beautiful catamaran with comfortable seating areas inside and out. Clean bathrooms. Chef Mike prepared an amazing meal. On the way we saw a pod of dolphins that circled the boat playfully. We also stopped and saw a few whales. The Napali coast is breathtaking and we saw the where King Kong, Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed. The snorkeling is great. I highly recommend taking a tour with Capt Andy.
