My husband has been searching for an older classic pickup for quite some time. He's very particular about what he wants, and when he came across one listed here, it seemed perfect. The price was reasonable and it checked all the boxes he had been looking for. Since we live out of state, we even started discussing flights and planning a trip to come see it in person. My husband originally called and spoke with Michael to ask a few questions about the truck. During that conversation, he felt some pressure to put a payment down right away. He decided not to do that at the time because he wanted to make sure his friend could travel with him to look at the vehicle in person. When he called again later, he started by mentioning that he had already spoken with Michael before. Michael asked if he was still planning to come down, and my husband said yes but asked if they could do a quick video call so he could hear the truck run and see it before putting down a deposit. At that point the response changed quickly. Michael said he had someone coming in within 30 minutes to put a payment on the truck. What stood out to us was that this wasn't mentioned earlier in the conversation until we asked about a video call. When my husband pointed out that they could lose another buyer if that sale fell through, the conversation became tense and Michael ended the call by saying he wasn't going to argue and hung up. After this interaction, we did some additional digging and noticed that several of the vehicle photos appear to come from Legendary Motors, LLC in Massachusetts. That raised some red flags for us. To be fair, the address being used does appear to belong to a legitimate business. However, the showroom and inventory photos being presented don't appear to match what is actually visible at that location. We're sharing this experience simply so others take the time to cross-reference listings and verify information before sending any money or making travel plans. The website looks legitimate at first glance, but it's always worth doing a little extra research when something seems unusually good.

I had low expectations for a used car dealership, but Valley Auto Center managed to fall far below my expectations. My husband and I looked over the carfax and service details for the Honda Pilot we were going to look at. We extensively researched and asked around about the specific make, model, year, and when things needed to be replaced. Service history said that the timing belt hadn't been changed since 2016, so going into it we knew it would've needed to be changed before purchasing since it was FAR past its due date (80,000+ mi past its due date to be exact). We weren't buying a used car only for it to become a project. We explicitly asked if it had been changed within the last year or two, and they told us it was a chain. We expected and were told that the car worked perfectly fine and if there were any problems in the first 500 miles / 15 days (lemon law), we could take the car back to be fixed FREE OF CHARGE. Satisfied with that, we purchased the car. The next day we brought the car into a trusted mechanic to take a look at the car. They said the timing belt wasn't a chain (like VAC had said), it hadn't and should've been changed, and needs to be changed ASAP. We called and brought the car back into VAC, explained the situation, and they said they'd "take a look at it". Not even an hour later we got a call saying it was fine and didn't need to be changed, but they could change it for $800. Excuse me? Does your warranty mean nothing to you? Not sure if they know this, but a broken timing belt can lead to serious engine damage, which is dangerous and falls under their warranty since it compromises our safety. These people are cons, thieves, and just want to drain your bank account. Don't waste your time with them.
