5/11/2023- Came in for the first time with my boss for lunch. It's in a shopping center so parking was a breeze. We came in and we're pleasantly surprised by the adorable decor. We chose to sit in a booth. Our waitress Katia (I think that was her name) took our drink order (water) and explained a little bit the menu and gave us the specials. They have a pretty extensive menu which means lots of great options for lunch. We decided to share the guacamole toast. My boss ordered the fish tacos and I ordered the shrimp kabobs. The toast came out and it looked divine. Beautifully plated and had great flavor. My boss was super happy with her tacos and said that it had plenty of fish. She order a side salad as her side. My shrimp was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I ordered the fries as my side. These fries were sooooo good. The food was so great we decided to order dessert. We had their limoncello cake. Again, another nice plate. It came with whip cream, vanilla ice cream and grilled marshmallow. That was the icing or should I say the marshmallow on the cake. Highly recommend. What a hidden gem!!! My friend and I went last night and what a pleasant surprise in this shopping center strip. First we had a very nice large glass of wine. We decided to split one of the specials that night which was short ribs over potatoes with a side Caesar salad. Our waiter, George, who was fantastic said it was enough for 2. Honestly, it was probably enough for 4. It was one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant. For dessert we spilt the tres leches cake which had a nice touch of a few chocolate chips. Delicious. My friends celebrated my birthday here and we had a very good time. It's a cute and intimate location. The place decorations are very cute. They have booths or regular tables. The ladies' bathroom has a very cute messaging. Also, it has a diaper changer, which is very important. Single bathroom for men and for women. The food was good but I had better breakfast. I would go back because the food is edible. My salmon was salty and one of my friend's food was really cold so she had to wait for them to make a fresh plate for her. The toast bread only toast on one side, which was weird I found the prices were on the high end. The customer service was very good. They were accommodating to our wishes. Very professional and friendly. That's another reason I would go back due to good customer service. If you're in the area looking for breakfast, bunch, or lunch, check them out. As much as I wanted to like Fat Stork, nothing really impressed me. Some things were good, others were disappointing. I doubt I'd go out of my way to come back. I ordered the shrimp kebab as my entree. The shrimp were cooked well and had a nice char flavor from the grill. Unfortunately, the sauce they were served with was overwhelmingly sweet and really detracted from the flavor. It was much better once I added the juice from the lime wedge, however if the sauce needs acidity to balance it out, why wouldn't it be served that way from the start? I'm also a little confused as to why they referred to the side of veggies as cole slaw, as they weren't dressed at all. The plate as a whole was decent flavor-wise, but the way it was presented could definitely use some work. With my kebabs, I also got the caesar salad side. This was really not great. It was served with a fairly ridiculous amount of powdered parmesan instead of shaved as you'd expect, and the lettuce was still sort of wet when it was put together, which meant a simultaneously soggy and powdery mess. I tried my best to scrape off the powder cheese but it was really frustrating to try to eat. Our main waiter was nice enough, if fairly nervous. At one point a different waitress brought our food over and she spilled some on the floor and table and nobody really did anything about it. The restaurant itself had a homey sort of vibe, and seemed like it was full of mostly older locals. read more

Great new addition to the restaurant line-up in Davie. This is a small, family owned and operated restaurant with a gourmet touch in everything they make. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and in addition to their regular menu, they have daily specials listed on a board just outside the restaurant. Service is always friendly and fast, and prices are very reasonable compared to other places with similar quality dishes. If you like veggies, I highly recommend their grilled veggies appetizer. Great seasoning and smoky flavor. Their shrimp kabob is also a winner. If you like red meat, they always have a few options, including skirt steak, sirloin steak and pulled pork. Came here with a group of friends for brunch on a Saturday. This is a really great addition to the neighborhood. First of all, the service was amazing. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the Nutella French toast that came with a toasted marshmallow sticking out of it and a side of sausage . It was as fabulous as it looks in the picture My friend got the avocado toast with a poached egg. The portion was huge. She couldn't even finish it. She said it was delicious and filling. She liked it so much that she took it home to eat the leftovers. The BLT was prepared perfectly, as was the omelette. The restaurant itself was crowded, but there was not a line. Let me start by saying the food was delicious. I had a ham and cheese omelette. However, it took 10 minutes to get drinks, the waiter came to say it would be another 10 minutes while the chef caught up from the breakfast rush. It took 25 minutes to order and when we ordered we were all in need of refills. We actually got up to ask for refills. We are a party of 6. We even went to the restroom while waiting, no toilet paper. They had 2 waiters for the whole floor. A family of 4 came in to a different waiter and got their food before us. Not happy at all with the service and now because we are a party of 6 they automatically take out 20% tip. He was definitely not worth even 10% . I for one will never be back. We found this through Yelp as we were in the area and looking for lunch one day. It was quiet inside and the service was good. My sister had the Spicy Salmon salad, which she enjoyed, but the spice kept creeping up from the salmon and it ended up being was a bit too much for her. So she couldn't finish it. I ordered the Shrimp Kabob, which came with a teriyaki/soy sauce base and a side of slaw. The shrimp kabob was good - flavorful and cooked perfectly. I didn't like the slaw, due to the pieces of cabbage being too big with not much of a dressing, so I felt like was eating a mouthful of raw cabbage. I read some really good reviews and decided to come in. We started with the meatball appetizer, had 2 orders of fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and two churrasconwotj fries. My daughter and mom said the fettuccini was tasty, the meatball was also very tasty. Now let's talk about the churrasco. The chimichirri sauce was very tasty and appearance wise the churrasco looked to be cooked well (we got medium). However the meat itself was excessively rubber to a point where it was not enjoyable at all. Can't tell if it was just the quality of meat or cooking process. They were nice to remove 1 order of the churrasco that my daughter refused to eat. Very unfortunate as if that had gone well this would have been a 5 start review. read more

Saw this place on yelp, and seemed like a great place to visit. Came here for dinner with some friends. It's a very mom and pop type vibe, great for a casual/quiet lunch or dinner. Our servers were great! Very friendly and helpful, informed us of their specials and available desserts that weren't on the menu. My friends and I ordered the mahi mahi, salmon, and mini steak kebabs. For starters, the presentation of the food is great! The steak kebabs were cooked to perfection, the sauce tastes like a mix of barbecue and some sort of teriyaki sauce. It paired perfectly! My friends really enjoyed their dishes as well. Salmon was flavorful, and the mahi mahi tasted fresh. The jalapeño mashed potatoes were delicious! Have never had something like that before, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not much of a kick to them, but the jalapeño adds an interesting flavor. Fries were paired with a pink sauce. We ended our dinner with a caramel cake. Stopped here on a whim for brunch and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had the best salad with peanut dressing (Thai), I've had ever. I love salads and there is only so much you can do with them, but this one was definitely a keeper. My son had a chicken club and he is still raving about it. I saw the Fat Stork posted about on a Facebook food group and so I decided to check them out. The menu is pretty eclectic and depending on when you go determines the menu. Brunch is served Fri-Sunday. Lunch is Mon-Thursday. Dinner is every day starting at 5. There is some overlap in the menus but there's a lot of variety to try. The first visit we went for brunch. I had 2 perfectly cooked over medium eggs with potato wedges & toast. It also came with meat, however I don't eat meat so I asked for it on a separate plate for my husband. I also asked for a side of avocado. It was reasonably priced and while it could have been a little riper, it was good. I had coffee. The coffee was...well coffee. The potato wedges were perfectly cooked and nice and hot. My husband had the spicy Thai salad with chicken. He loved it. The house made dressing had amazing flavor but was a little too spicy for me, but perfect for my husband. Our second visit was today for lunch. My husband had the chicken tacos. His meal came with a choice of house salad, fries or a Caesar salad. He opted for the house salad and asked for the dressing he had last week. The house salad was your basic salad but the dressing made it delicious. He said he enjoyed the chicken tacos. I had the tuna tartar. Mine did not come with a side, which I was fine with. It came with 3 crostini's and was plenty. We ended the meal with a piece of chocolate cake. It was dense and delicious and not crazy sweet. There are no dedicated appetizers on the menu, but quite a few items that could be an appetizer. There was something for everyone and everything we have eaten so far has been fresh and delicious. We just happened to be looking for lunch in the area and found this lovely place! The decor is very cute and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. They even decorated a bit for the holidays. I thought the mug station was adorable as well. Super easy to join the waitlist on Yelp, but also we didn't need to really as we were seated right away. I was SO happy with my bagels sandwich and the house potato wedges. It was devoured so fast, I barely blinked. Salmon was fresh and the wedges had a great zesty seasoning. My bf liked his BLT buy definitely would come back to have the bagels sandwich. He also enjoyed the house potato wedges. Can't wait to go back to the some eggs benedicts for breakfast! read more

The Fat Stork, formerly Lunessa Cafe, is located on the south side of Griffin Road in Davie FL, just west of University.  I have been to Lunessa before so I had high expectations for the Fat Stork.  In many ways those expectations were surpassed. It has been open under this name for about two weeks from the time of this review.  And the only thing I am completely certain of is that they are still working out some of the kinks.  Especially when it comes to service.  On a Saturday morning the place was half full with two servers and they had a hard time keeping up.  There was also a language barrier which didn't help matters. The food is visually stunning, tasty and very reasonably priced.  Had the Nova Benedict with a side salad.  Fresh and flavors were perfect.  Two sides of bacon... Can't go wrong there, bacon was thick, crispy and not over cooked.  The star of my meal, and yes it was not the bacon, was the burrata salad.  It was soooo really good.  See the pics. I liked the subtle touches they made on changing the decor.  There is still the iconic mug display, but the greenery on the walls gave a much cooler vibe. I found this spot when searching for new local places to try and I was excited because I never would've imagined a spot like this in Davie! From the outside it doesn't look like much but once you walk inside it is very decorative and looks to be a great place. I ordered the chicken tacos and the were phenomenal. They had a ton of toppings in them and tasted delicious. They also came with seasoned fries which really hit the spot. My only wish is that they had some chips and salsa served to the table to really give it a full taco vibe. Or even chips as an option to serve with tacos and some salsas to add to it. That's my preference when I am having tacos though. If I was in the area I would definitely go back and bring others. I asked the waiter to have them scoop out my bagel and he made such a stink about asking the "chef" to do that. He spent more time making a sad face about the aguish of asking the "chef". This place just opened near my house and I wanted to try it! I came in around 8am when they open. I was greeted by the server to sit anywhere. When I walked in, this place was clean, and had a nice atmosphere with all of the decorations. This place is spacious and very nice. I ordered the Nova Benedict and it was good! Egg was just perfecto! This was $12 and I also ordered a side of Parmesan truffle fries and that was $7 as well as a cup of coffee. You'll have to eat them fast because it doesn't taste the same when it's cold! I definitely enjoyed this breakfast place and will be back! My only negative and it's a big one for me is, if you are going to charge 3% for credit card transactions, you should let people know ahead of time to let them decide how they want to pay. It was not posted on the bill, on the menu or anywhere in the restaurant. We were not made aware of this fee until after our credit card was charged. Had we known, maybe we would have paid cash. We went to Fat Stork last night and was pleasantly surprised! I've been eyeing this place on Yelp for a long time but for some reason, I hadn't gone yet. What was I thinking? Everything was great! We had the spinach dip which was really good. I liked the homemade chips too. We also each had a side salad which featured a delicious lemon vinaigrette. For our entrees I had the veggie pasta and my date had the jambalaya pasta. Both were very very good. Great portions and a good price. The service was also excellent.
