My son has been attending school in Bountiful for the last two years, and we've been coming to Fat Fish about every couple of months whenever we visit him ... it's always 10 out of 10 for every box: Food / Service / Ambiance. Dining at Fat Fish always a highlight of our trip up to Bountiful. All the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, but Jen is a true delight! And she even made a roll that's super delicious (and one of our favorites!) It's the Godzilla roll on the special / secret menu and it's delicious and spicy! We went to Fat Fish for date night tonight, which is one of our go-to places for amazing sushi. The food was fresh and flavorful. The service was good. We had a few cocktails with our meal off the new menu. I'd say they're just okay overall--I was happy they've extended their drink selection. For appetizers, we had the ceviche and jalapeño bombs. I remember the ceviche being more extravagant in the past, and I wish they gave us more chips. For sushi rolls, we had our go-to rolls (Imperial and Albacore Garlic) and tried a new roll--The Secret--which may be one of our new favorites. Fat Fish is one of the few restaurants worth their weight in Bountiful. It is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Utah with a robust and delicious variety of rolls. For sushi rolls, we got the Maui Wowie, Aloha, Phoenix, Samurai, Luscious Lover, Black Dragon, Crunchy Shrimp, Blazing Jazz. While all rolls were delicious, my favorite rolls from are (1) Maui Wowie, (2) Aloha, (3) Luscious Lover and (4) Black Dragon. The spicy edamame and pork dumplings are excellent choices for appetizers. The spicy edamame is fairly spicy so be prepared for a kick! We also tried the Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake which was a great treat after the sushi rolls. The Blackberry Mule was a hit - will try to recreate at home! The staff was attentive and efficient. Our order was prompt and appreciated the good service. The ambiance was low-key and enjoyable on a Thursday night. Wow! Okay, I heard about this place on Facebook and honestly, I just didn't have high expectations. We started with a blackberry mule that was divine. Next we got the assorted sashimi. The rolls here aren't bad but they do skimp out on the fish a bit, they have a lot of rice+sauce, and they don't have very many rolls with salmon. I've been to sapa which is part of the same family of restaurants and they upcharge $3-$4 (which they don't tell you until after you get the check) if you want to replace tuna for salmon. We also both ordered Bento boxes, hers Beef Teriyaki and mine was chicken curry, beef was good the curry tasted just like the package one in the store, more Indian flavor than oriental flavor, not impressed. We were told is would be a 30-45 minute wait and asked to wait outside or in our cars until we received a text saying our table was ready. When we got the text (32 minutes later) we came back in and the same person who "greeted" us earlier asked if she could help us...as if she'd never seen us before. We told her our name and she said, "Are you on the list?" When we showed her the text and she walked away without saying anything... Finally someone else came and seated us. We asked our server for roll and entree suggestions and she said, "I don't really know...I'm sure whatever you choose will be good." We asked if she'd recommend the squid salad and she said, "I don't know...I've never had it. But no one has every complained to me about it." *facepalm* The food was okay, but not worth the price and the wait time. Each roll came out separately, nearly 10-15 minutes apart. It was one of the oddest dining experiences I've ever had. If you'd like to try Fat Fish, I would recommend you dine at the West Valley location. We've been going to Fat Fish since it opened and we still LOVE IT. Our favorite dishes are the appetizer Dragon Balls and the Maui Wowie. We got the Dracula tonight too and it was spicy and good. Our waiter Tim was amazing tonight when we went---- bosses seriously give Tim a raise!! He was extremely accommodating, helpful, and smooth. We love Fat Fish as we have loved Sapa in SLC- same owners apparently. We always seem to be able to get in quickly and it's our favorite sushi place [and we're picky and have gone to other places]. It's also reasonable! I've also ordered the lunch boxes and they're a good deal, healthy, and yummy. read more

I wanted to love this so much. I have been a longtime lover of Sapa and was told this was supposed to be basically the same, sadly that was not the case. We went for dinner and it was busy as expected, waited about 30 minutes for our table. Then it took probably 10 minutes for our server to come introduce themselves. We each ordered a cocktail and those also took quite a while to come out. I ordered a miso soup and another person at our table ordered an appetizer and we waited almost 20 minutes for those. We all ordered our sushi at the same time so we assumed it would be a while, but then one persons meal came out completely, and the rest of us waited another 15 minutes at least. Nothing tasted quite as fresh as it should have, things that were supposed to be hot were room temperature, cold items also came out to us room temp. It was apparent they had all been sitting back there for a while. And our server didn't really give us a heads up or check on them for us. Then when we finally did get our food we were never asked if we wanted another drink or refills of our waters. If I'm going to make a drive for sushi that was this expensive, it will be back down to SLC. read more
