For $86 for two people I expect perfection. The star of the show was the bread and the limericky drink which is concerning. The Alfredo pasta tasted like Mac and cheese (no flavor what so ever). My gfs portobello chicken flavorless, the sauce tasted like goop (no salt). Lots of lack of attention to detail in cooking and the restaurant itself. The restaurant was DIRTY. Floors, tables, menus, bathrooms filthy. If it's like that on the outside I can't imagine the kitchen. But you bet there was 3 host all just chatting instead of cleaning! read more

We had a long wait for Hug-Hes this evening, it was busy ! Upon seating, our waiter was fast and efficient with asking for orders ! The bread + butter is a classic at this cafe and wasn't too bad. The bread is a bit dense, almost cake-y for my taste. The minestrone soup was bland and I had to incorporate quite a bit of salt for good flavor. The meals came together but the stuffed pasta + shrimp had cold parts to the dish. Seemed like it had sat out for a while before serving. The highlight of my meal was that creamy pesto ravioli ! It came warm and was a filling meal. The sour cream mashed potatoes weren't too bad either with a texture leaning to the creamier side. Overall, this restaurant has a very beautiful environment and the lighting is very calming. For the price - in my opinion - it is under-performing. The meals lack the high end feel that I believe Hug-Hes is trying to emulate. read more

This place has a good amount of options. I ordered the chicken pesto bacon sandwich, while I wasn't a fan of the tomatoes, everything else was solid. They include a cookie and a dinner roll with the meal, and that dinner roll was amazing. It wasn't your average roll at all--more like a dense, bread with a scone-like taste, and honestly the standout. I do wish I had chosen the gingerbread cookie instead of the pumpkin, but overall it was a good experience. read more

Hug-Hes seems to have different concepts from quick counter order spots to sit down restaurants like this one. This place gets busy around lunch time, it seems to be "the spot" for lunch. Their seating process can be a bit slow and the waiting area fills up. They are popular for larger parties and will not seat anyone until everyone is there. No bueno when you are only waiting on 1 person. Food is good, I have enjoyed everything I have ordered. The salads are probably my favorite and their dressings are out of this world! One small issue is that items in the salad are not uniform. You will have small pieces, easy to eat and HUGE pieces, that are more difficult and may spill down your front side. read more

Visited on a Saturday for lunch and our group of 4 adults and 2 kids was seated very quickly. The server Hayden was awesome, he brought bread right away (comes with a delicious berry butter spread), he got our orders in quickly and the food came quickly. The beef vegetable soup was flavorful, the prime rib sandwiches and fries were great, and the salads come with homemade dressings. The restaurant was festive for the holidays and decorated nicely. I was at this location with a friend, who took me here because I am from out of town and have never tried it. I asked for an alcohol menu and was handed a beer and wine menu after rudely being asked if "I was of age" after I handed her my ID.? I saw online there was a cocktail menu as well and tried ordering one of the drinks off that menu and was declined service. I felt very rushed and the service honestly hurt my feelings, I won't be back sadly. Don't lie to your customers, when you have a 2025 updated menu online, I am not from here nor drink out of state often but I am not stupid and hate being treated like this. read more

We got this as takeaway, and I do realize that food taken to-go is NEVER as good as when you eat it fresh in the restaurant. We got a crispy chicken and avocado salad, which was fine, but my turkey pesto sandwich tasted weirdly burned and I couldn't figure it out - until I happened to look at the bottom piece of the grilled bread, which is burned black. I highly recommend Hug-Hes Cafe! I went here today for the first time with coworkers and everyone had good things to say about the food. I had the Mexican Club Wrap with Buffalo Fries and would get it again in a heartbeat! The meal came with a pickle and a fry sauce. We had the artichoke dip for an appetizer, but I didn't take a photo. It was delicious! We all grabbed a cookie on our way out. I grabbed a sugar cookie with pink frosting for my kids and I'm sure they're going to love it. I didn't catch her name, but our waitress was great! My water was never less than halfway empty! She definitely took good care of us. I'll be back for more delicious food! read more

A little disappointed tonight, I really love their food and was looking forward to it but was skeptical about takeout. When my husband picked up our order he asked if everything was there and was assured it was. We were disappointed to get home and realize we were shorted a sandwich. We live far enough away it wasn't worth going back for, just sad we didn't get what we ordered. They fixed it on the bill but it would have been nice to get the food we wanted. read more

This establishment almost seems out of place, with in being located in Centerville, and surrounded by gobs fast food and fast casual joints. It's modern, and you can tell the proprietors put love into the decor and ambiance, but its feels like it belongs in Sugarhouse or downtown. I had a prime rib french dip sandwich and it was satisfying. The au jus was served hot instead of an unsettling lukewarm temperature that seems to be common place. The bread was wonderfully crispy and they weren't stingy with the meat. For a side dish, I chose minestrone soup and was disappointed with that offering. It felt bland. Next time, I'll try another offering. I do intend to go back. The waitress was pleasant and patient as I took my time with the meal. read more

I don't really have anything negative to say but I also wasn't super wowed by my visit here. It wasn't super busy, but we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. Then we waited another 10 minutes to be greeted and our drink order taken. Food was okay. Kind of pricey for what you're getting. But came out relatively quick. Had a group luncheon at noon at this Hug Hes. This was my first time at this restaurant, although I had heard about it, and that it was good. Most all of the dishes were excellent, and I especially loved the artichoke spinach dip starter. Everyone in my group raved about their sandwiches. The beer bread that comes out before you order was absolutely delicious! I could survive on that stuff! I ordered the salmon, and I'm sorry to say I was a little disappointed. Had it knocked my socks off I would have given this restaurant 5 stars. Salmon is hard to do I suppose. My filet was overcooked. The seasoning was fine, but it was just overcooked and tough. At $22.49 for a very small piece of salmon I expect it to be tender and just right. Other than that the place was great! I'll go here again sometime, and I look forward to trying more things. I recently participated in a sugar cookie taste off with six different bakeries, and Hug-He's Cafe was one of them. So my review is based solely on one cookie that I tried. I will update my review in the future when I come in to visit. The sugar cookie was Independence Day themed-perfectly round, white frosting and red, white and blue sprinkles. The cookie was a little thinner than some of the others-which I actually liked. I prefer the fully-baked, slightly thinner cookie to some of the really thick, under cooked ones. So this was perfect for me. The taste of the cookie was slightly less sweet than the others. It tasted a little stronger of flour than sugar. Not terrible, just different. It was a welcome change from the sugar overload of some of the others. I look forward to visiting the restaurant to try a few additional menu items. read more

For those who consider the strip mall landscape to be a place for fast food and big box stores, you are in for a surprise. Now that stigma suddenly comes to an end with Hug-Hes Cafe. Just as we were ready to drift into a national chain restaurant for lunch, this restaurant caught our attention. Eating space is comfortable and contemporary and outside there is plenty of off the street free parking. We were here for the midday meal, lunch. From an extensive list of food options I ordered one of their most popular dishes, the prime rib sandwich. The menu described this dish as in-house roasted prime rib with provolone cheese, sautéed onions and mushrooms on a ciabatta bun with Au jus for dipping. On top of that, a crisp and refreshing green salad was a good choice as my side dish. Anyone who didn't get enough to eat with the main course can grab a last chance dessert. They had a nice selection of homemade cookies at the cash register. I selected one of their chocolate chip cookies for the road. Baked to perfection, with plenty of chocolate chips, this was a nice treat for the drive down the interstate. To sum it all up, prices are fair, servers do a terrific job, and you are in for a very good meal. Salute! read more

This restaurant took over the old la frontera that was in this plaza and we have been meaning to try it out since it opened just never made it over. That is until this past Tues when my friend and I stopped in for lunch. Bonus points for being open on a holiday. I was actually quite surprised when we walked in. The decor seemed to be more of a fine dining feel than what I was expecting based on photos of food and the fact that it's called a cafe. It had bright chandeliers and fancy light fixtures throughout the space and the wall covering and booths and tables were all more of an intimate dining atmosphere than a cafe. The staff was very friendly and the menu was full of interesting options (apps, sandwiches, burgers, entrees) and I don't think I noticed anything higher than $20. My main disappointment was that there weren't many vegetarian options. We both got the summer salad and my friend added salmon to hers and I asked for no meat on it. They are celebrating their 30 year anniversary (not this location, the business as a whole) and so they had special items for each week during July. The special for the day we were there was smoothies. I ordered strawberry mango and my friend ordered mango. They were nice and refreshing and the right consistency. I was a little underwhelmed with the salad, mostly because they used an iceberg mix for the base of the salad. A salad with apples, strawberries, dried cranberries, almonds and feta would work better with spinach or a spring mix at least. It just made the salad watered down and didn't highlight the flavors of the toppings. I did like the homemade poppyseed dressing (only needed to drizzle a small amount over salad). While we waited for our meals, they served fresh warm beer bread with butter and strawberry cream cheese on the side. The dollop of butter and cream are separated but the server recommended mixing them together before dipping the bread in so we did. The bread was dense but still airy and nice and warm. The spread was interesting and added to the flavor of the bread without overpowering it. I will have to come back with the hubby for dinner to see what he thinks as well. read more
