My frugal meter does not want me to give this place 4 stars. I have to give them the fourth star because I have be seen this business in many, many years. I do not like the prices for the food. You should always check to see if they have a special that includes the all you can eat salad bar. That's essentially the gist of this place... order an overpriced entree, or order the salad bar, or order something with both. Order water, or a Pepsi product, or some other type of drink to go with a small entree and/or salad bar. Hopefully the salad bar has enough variety for you. Finish things off with brownies and/or ice cream with a variety of toppings. Frugally, $18 for an all you can eat salad bar is too much for me...but you have to do this. Just the nostalgia of the restaurant is worth doing once. Just come hungry and eat $20 worth of salad! read more

4 stars at a Sizzler? Am I joking here??? No. Now this four stars does not mean to move the business meeting from some fancy steakhouse in the unity area of town to the Sizzler. This means that on this particular day I (an out of towner) was looking for a decent meal and found one. I can admit it's been at least 10 years since I've been to a Sizzler and can probably count on one hand the number I've even seen in that span. But, not wanting another out of town dinner to be a pizza, sandwich or taco I decided to give this a try. I went with the trio special. It comes with a small fillet, derp fried shrimp, fried chicken with ham and Swiss on top(???), a side and the salad bar for $20. Add a drink and tax and I'm at $24 (happy boss). Let's start with the salad bar. Variety galore! Quartered avocados, kiwi, sweet watermelon, four types of lettuce, numerous salad toppings, 8 dressings, a mini taco bar with beef or chicken, pico, lettuce, cheese, guacamole (hello!) voice of soft or hard shell. Move to the backside for numerous salad styles ( I liked the seafood). Even two soups to choose from. I barely started and dinner was being served. BTW, I had Sarah as a waitress and she was on top of things. Refills, sauces, removing dirty items. Excellent job. I ordered the steak medium rare. Some higher end places think that means still bleeding while others think that means barely pink. These guys nailed it. Red center and no blood. Furthermore the steak wasn't over seasoned. I'm not big on swim cheese so I scraped the crust off. The chicken inside was moist and delicious. Kudos to the kitchen staff. Sarah told me to remember to return for the ice cream bar. Do it yourself sundae with some toppings and a chewy brownie hit the spot. Maybe today was my lucky day but this visit was better than expected. I didn't want classy, I wanted a meal. So... My husband and I thought we would give an oldie a try since neither of us had been to a sizzler in a very very long time. He ordered the Sizzler Steak it arrived sizzling on a cast iron platter. No rest time for this steak so you know where I am going from here. The steak was ok not allot of flavor and with zero rest time it became tough as it continued to cook on the platter. My meal 6 deep fried shrimp were good. How can you screw that up. However we both ordered mashed potatoes and gravy for our side and each took one bite and pushed it aside. Where they got 3 stars was the service and salad bar. The salad bar was clean and full of options including fruit, veggie options and even a mini taco bar. Next time we will pop in when we are needing our salad fix. It was actually the best part. It's sizzler! Nothing fancy but I do like their Malibu chicken. They have promotions often so be sure to check their website for when they have deals. The salad bar has the following -salad and dressings -three different kinds of pasta salad -Italian spaghetti and meatballs -fried chicken -taco bar with hard and soft shells -fruit bar -clam chowder and vegetable beef soup -dessert bar with ice cream, brownies, and apple cobbler with assorted candies to top your ice cream with. You get to choose a side with your entree and I always get broccoli. My boyfriend got the fried green beans and he didn't like them bc they were VERY salty. You get cinnamon butter and fresh rolls on the house and those are always yummy. The salad bar I've read from previous reviews is that the fruit is not fresh but maybe it depends on the day bc the fruit was fresh today when I tried it but I'm sure it's hit or miss. Would I come back here? Sure for Malibu chicken but not their steaks bc the cooks here apparently don't know the difference between medium and medium rare. The food here at Sizzler hasn't changed much over the years. I used to go here a lot when I was a kid with my family. Prices changed a little but other than that it's the same. Everyone in my family now can find something to eat there, even my picky kids like it. Still a good place to go and get a decent meal at a decent price. I went on a Friday about 4pm. I have always wanted to try a Sizzler after all the comedians refer to it in their skits. Wasn't sure what to expect. I walked up to the hostess station bypassing the big wall menu and asked if I seat myself and could I get a menu. She turned me to the wall- I had questions (the wall isn't very descriptive). I was to wait until my waitress arrived. 4pm is great for a place to park and get a table. So while I waited I asked the girl about the restaurant (I had passed a few times and it had a packed parking lot). She had heard her mom, "say something about that" made me laugh- I get it, I'm your mom's age lol. So my waitress comes takes my order but I told ya I had questions on menu items from board. With no menu in front of me I had to look over at board to select something else. Not a great system. Apparently I ordered a very over cooked salmon steak and broccoli. It was edible- no butter, or seasoning comes with these. They have sweet rolls at table with a ridiculously sweet butter/something. The salad bar was above average. Beautiful presentation with fruit displayed and seemed fresh and kept up with. Waitress was very nice and kept up with drink re-fills. All in all, it was not a hilarious experience the comedians lead me to believe, nor would it make a hallmark memory. It was just there. I was surprised to see that there was such a long wait during my last visit. I mean, this is Sizzler after all. It's just a chain restaurant famous for steak and their salad bar. I've now learned that there are much better options when it comes to forking over my well earned moolah. My steak was ordered medium rare and unfortunately it came out medium-medium well. I would've asked the waitress to take it back if only she came around more often to check on us. My sister's salmon was dry and flavorless. The salad bar was alright. I just wish their selection of fruit was a bit more ripe. My avocado and pineapple were pretty sour. I probably won't be returning. read more

I've been to this location twice. The salad bar has always been well stocked and everything appears fresh as far as I can tell. The service is adequate. Lunch service was better than dinner, assuming because it was less busy. The dinner choice of Malibu chicken and steak was awful though. The Malibu chicken texture was like a waterlogged chicken nugget from a fast food joint. My first bite had a massive chunk of gristle or something else inedible. (I was afraid to look...) the steak, however, was good and cooked medium rare as requested. The broccoli was also good, not over cooked or mushy. The great and fearsome Sizzler chain as a whole is getting the benefit of me hitting up this place as opposed to the one closer to my domicile (1300 E/2100 S), which would be pressing my generosity to get as much as 2 stars. This particular one is fairly new or at least clean to the point of looking new and has a dazzling salad bar, nothing short of spectacular, for anywhere, not just a Sizzler. The food I had was a notable step down, but the sides were very, very good overall (quick hint: they REALLY like the fried cheese bread finish on things). What we're looking at is something very standard, very middle of the road, but nothing that would wow me, in terms of actual menu items, though their iced tea was several leagues above the place in Sugarhood. No, where this place (and chain, as I won't usually review more than one location of a chain, if I review chains at all) receives its stars is on the back of a stellar server, easily the best I can remember having, which makes this a very good week, in terms of restaurant service anyway. Again, no names (let's call her "J."), but she put on a clinic on how to serve a table. Simply marvelous and frankly, I can't think of anywhere I've ever seen anything like it, including Spencer's. Some people are just gifted at their vocations and she took care of the table in a way that was dazzling to witness. If I were rating solely on service, this would be an easy 5, but as it is, I think this pushes right to the ceiling of what a Sizzler is capable of, given their food quality, which is not ever going to be chasing the higher levels. Still, it was a great experience and one of those that I thought I was fortunate to be a part of. One final thing I sort of dislike is the ordering/paying part of it, which is all done before you're seated. This makes carrying cash (something I intensely dislike doing) more of a necessity, if you care to leave a gratuity. In this case, I think the gratuity we left was almost as much as the meal, but without question worth it for a job amazingly well done. read more
