Sherburne's a really small town with a few restaurants. I would say that Lewis' Restaurant is…read moredefinitely Sherburne's best. I came here on a weekend night and it was pretty lively and fun. The restaurant is very well kept and clean. Staff were welcoming and I was seated immediately. The space is large and offers side rooms for private events. Upon entry, you'll find the bar area that seems to be popular. I tried the coconut shrimp appetizer with pineapple sauce. It was on their white leaflet insert for their specials but I noticed it was on their permanent menu as well. I thought it tasted great and wasn't too greasy. The sauce wasn't overly sweet. Entrees come with a side salad and an additional side. I got the haddock with a side of spaghetti. The spaghetti side was huge. The salad had cucumber, onion and tomato with some iceberg lettuce. There were over 5 dressing options to chose from. I chose the balsamic vinaigrette and the husband chose a peppercorn sauce. I liked my sauce a little more because the peppercorn one was thick and rich like ranch. I liked the acidity and coating-ability of the vinaigrette. Both salads had more dressing than I would have preferred but it wasn't too drastically overdressed. I tried the husband's lighthouse chicken and liked the bacon flavor it had. For desserts, we had the pumpkin mousse parfait and wine ice cream from Gilligan's, their ice cream store neighbor. The wine ice cream normally comes in a wine glass but our waitress put it in a margarita glass for us for easier access. I appreciated that gesture. She was very attentive and quick. The pumpkin mousse tasted great but would have benefitted from an additional layer of something other than whipped cream. A pumpkin cake or crumble would have added nice texture to it.

Ordered two meals for takeout....the atmosphere is clean and comfortable and the bar looks great…read moreand very clean. I got broiled haddock it was completely bland no spices at all (I have gotten a better dish at a pizza restaurant) . It came w a "baked potato " it was so dry the skin peeled off. Went into the trash. The side salad was brown on many of the leaves w a very small wedge of tomato and two thin cucumbers. My husband got a pasta dish that barely had sauce, most of the noodles had no sauce on them. $80 later the only thing I loved was the potato soup. Btw they advertise every where that they deliver NOT TRUE. NO DELIVERY

My daughter and I had an early dinner here on a summer afternoon. Beautiful view of the golf…read morecourse, and past the course to the Colgate campus. Since the parking lot is also used for the golf course, the lot was jammed and we needed to wait a few minutes for someone to leave. The menu was pretty good, but I didn't see anything that jumped out and grabbed me. Our wait staff suggested the Shrimp Po' Boy or Crab Cake Sandwich. I chose the Crab Cake, which was good, but maybe not great. The spicy fries were good. She did suggest it would be a littler more filling than the Shrimp Po' Boy. Daughter had a cheeseburger and fries, which appeared to be just like any other burger and fries. Great location and view were the best attributes for us that night, but we didn't get to try the dinner menu or drinks.

Seating affords a nice view of the course, so we were able to watch them teeing off, with a view of the University in the background. Good wine and draft beer list. Deputy Yelper raved about the Santa Fe chicken ("would order it again in a heart beat"). The veggie burger (black bean) was nicely dressed with aioli, LTO. Not too dry, which is often a problem with these things. Definitely should be on your list if looking for a good meal in Hamilton.

Delicious home cooked meals! Best Chicken and biscuits on earth! Wonderful place! Warm atmosphere,…read moregreat staff!

I loved the Columbus House, food is simple fare but great and the Ambiance is rustic antique but…read morethe service???? I have been going there quite some time but only twice have I been served within the hour. I understand the food needs to be cooked and it takes some time but we're talking about a cheeseburger??? The main thing is that I've brought both my brother and sister-in-law when they were in from Iowa and we waited over an hour, the owner came and apologized but said a motorcycle group had come in and they were overwhelmed, OK I'll buy that. Then on two occasions, we came in, ordered and after 20 minutes another couple came in and sat at the next table. Obviously they knew the owner since he stopped to talk with them, they received there food, ate and were finished by the time we finally got served. The second time this happened I had taken my Sister from Iowa, my daughter from Buffalo and my grandson. The place was empty, then after 25 minutes another couple and an older woman entered, was greeted by the owner and I told my daughter they'll probably get served first. Needless to say that's exactly what happened and after an hour I went up to the bar and summoned the owner and told him this was ridiculous and that it seems if he knows people he serves them first and he claims they don't work like that. Then he he told me that it was on it's way. They came out with the order, put it on the table but we just left it sitting on the table and left the restaurant. My grandson was upset but there's a principle involved and this was the last straw. I will not be going there again unless I hear from folks I trust and find out that they've changed there ways. It's really a shame that customers he doesn't seem to know get treated so badly.
