you gotta go! Dive bar person? You're gonna love it!…read more You're not gonna have any food, but what you will have is a great time! Lots of locals and regulars here. Our bartender was chatting with everyone. Everyone was chatting with us. We got some amazing recommendations of hikes and waterfalls in the area. Someone bought a local beer just so I could try it. It was just Ana amazing and fun experience and I wish I could share this place with everyone! 10/10 recommend.

I continued to go to Petes for the next 6 years. I had graduated from I.C. and stayed in Ithaca and had a Job at I.C. ~ Back then it was a locals bar only ~ no students went there but me and a couple of friends. Lisa and Pat ( the owners) were so NICE. Ithaca college students were going to the Dugout, The Pines, McCawbers, Simeons, and the Haunt back then. After I graduated from I.C. I really became a regular , after work each day, at Petes. I don't even know if the term "Dive bar" existed. ? I was an avid pool player and we started a pool team in a new league in the Tompkins County area. Petes Pool team played every Tuesday ? night home and away. It was so much fun and we did well as a team. Times did change in the mid 1980's as a few more students from I.C. started visiting Petes. Not a lot but a few. The best time was on Friday afternoons from around 3 pm to 9 pm when happy hour was celebrated. I think that is my fondest memory. I met and made a lot of new friends at Petes and I became more of a local and not an "out of towner from Cape Cod". Even a lot of my past political science professors had their stools at the bar. I really miss those days and think that was when I was happiest in my life. ! I have been back to Ithaca a few times since I left in the mid 80's and my first stop is always Petes ! Yes it has changed just a bit, but it brings back such fond memories. Talk about Nostalgia. What a great time it was . David H.

I came here on a weekend night and it was pretty lively and fun. The restaurant is very well kept and clean. Staff were welcoming and I was seated immediately. The space is large and offers side rooms for private events. Upon entry, you'll find the bar area that seems to be popular. I tried the coconut shrimp appetizer with pineapple sauce. It was on their white leaflet insert for their specials but I noticed it was on their permanent menu as well. I thought it tasted great and wasn't too greasy. The sauce wasn't overly sweet. Entrees come with a side salad and an additional side. I got the haddock with a side of spaghetti. The spaghetti side was huge. The salad had cucumber, onion and tomato with some iceberg lettuce. There were over 5 dressing options to chose from. I chose the balsamic vinaigrette and the husband chose a peppercorn sauce. I liked my sauce a little more because the peppercorn one was thick and rich like ranch. I liked the acidity and coating-ability of the vinaigrette. Both salads had more dressing than I would have preferred but it wasn't too drastically overdressed. I tried the husband's lighthouse chicken and liked the bacon flavor it had. For desserts, we had the pumpkin mousse parfait and wine ice cream from Gilligan's, their ice cream store neighbor. The wine ice cream normally comes in a wine glass but our waitress put it in a margarita glass for us for easier access. I appreciated that gesture. She was very attentive and quick. The pumpkin mousse tasted great but would have benefitted from an additional layer of something other than whipped cream. A pumpkin cake or crumble would have added nice texture to it.

I got broiled haddock it was completely bland no spices at all (I have gotten a better dish at a pizza restaurant) . It came w a "baked potato " it was so dry the skin peeled off. Went into the trash. The side salad was brown on many of the leaves w a very small wedge of tomato and two thin cucumbers. My husband got a pasta dish that barely had sauce, most of the noodles had no sauce on them. $80 later the only thing I loved was the potato soup. Btw they advertise every where that they deliver NOT TRUE. NO DELIVERY
