My daughter and I had an early dinner here on a summer afternoon. Beautiful view of the golf course, and past the course to the Colgate campus. Since the parking lot is also used for the golf course, the lot was jammed and we needed to wait a few minutes for someone to leave. The menu was pretty good, but I didn't see anything that jumped out and grabbed me. Our wait staff suggested the Shrimp Po' Boy or Crab Cake Sandwich. I chose the Crab Cake, which was good, but maybe not great. The spicy fries were good. She did suggest it would be a littler more filling than the Shrimp Po' Boy. Daughter had a cheeseburger and fries, which appeared to be just like any other burger and fries. Great location and view were the best attributes for us that night, but we didn't get to try the dinner menu or drinks. read more

We had never dined here before and were pleased to discover this open-to-the-public golf course clubhouse restaurant. Seating affords a nice view of the course, so we were able to watch them teeing off, with a view of the University in the background. Good wine and draft beer list. Deputy Yelper raved about the Santa Fe chicken ("would order it again in a heart beat"). The veggie burger (black bean) was nicely dressed with aioli, LTO. Not too dry, which is often a problem with these things. Definitely should be on your list if looking for a good meal in Hamilton. read more

Zero stars! Service was non existent. Sat at table in the bar area, waited 5+ minutes with no service. Went and asked for menus from who I believe was the waiter, he handed me one menu. Had to ask for 2 menus. Back to the table I went, this time we waited about ten minutes. Still, no service. This is where my wife and I left. There was no one else seated at tables in the bar area. There was one couple seated outdoors. Bar was busy, dining area was not! We were completely ignored. Perhaps had I parked a Lexus instead of my Camry in the parking lot, that may have got me better service. read more

Really disappointed with our dinner at Seven Oaks. The service was marginal not only for us, but also for everyone else in the restaurant (one group arrived, was seated, and left 30 minutes later when the waitresses would not go to their table). I found the food to be below average - especially compared to the old restaurant that they tore down and replaced with this new iteration. Unfortunately, dining options in Hamilton are limited, so hope Seven Oaks can improve. read more

We came in for a late afternoon lunch. Ate in the bar, as they were setting up for a large group in the dining room. Hubby enjoyed his Swiss cheese burger with all the trimmings, which was prepared to his liking. I ordered a BLT, which was a disappointment. Bacon was plentiful, but burned. Whether just before, in the middle or at the end of your round stop into the clubhouse for a refreshing adult beverage and the Phuket Chicken (pronounced like bouquet for those of you giggling or covering your mouths :-) ). A chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce, bacon, swiss cheese and a sweet chili coleslaw. What a wonderful taste explosion! Washed down with a cold beer and I was in heaven. Plenty of other great sounding items on the menu but I think I just found my latest fave. read more

Found this gem while on a college tour . Had a fantastic lunch . Fresh turkey club and burgers were the best .

Best food around. Consistent. Small-town charm meets big-city flavor. Been coming here since they served breakfast in 2002. They do so many things from scratch when so many other places in town seem to be shopping exclusively in the Sysco freezer aisle. I can get a grilled cheese and an Arnold Palmer or a center cut filet mignon and a great glass of red and both options are great for what they are. Real fresh roasted turkey and beef for their sandwiches. Bacon-wrapped shrimp and a blackened chicken Caesar that will knock your socks off. And you can't beat the view of the 18th green from the back patio. The Colgate Inn has money pumped into it constantly and changes owners every few years and never seems to approach respectability. The Clubhouse by comparison has had one owner in the last 18+ years and consistently kills it. A sparkling gem in the Chenango Valley. read more

Wine list is very good, had a portobello appetizer that was off the hook. Salmon over spinach for dinner with a Chinese BBQ sauce was delicious. Being new to the area I've found a spot that I hope to frequent. Also the atmosphere was perfect, can't wait for spring and summer dining too as it appears the windows on the porch open up! read more

I dream about their Parmesan Crusted Chicken Pasta. I have contemplated getting a job here just to learn the recipe. My friends have laughed at me for going on and on about how firm the pasta noodles are. I have probably come here at least once a week for the past couple of months.The Caesar salad that comes with it is great too. Not only is the pasta absolutely delicious, they give you a great portion size. The service is also great, and they are always attentively filling up water glasses. I miss this place when I am on break from school, and will think about their pasta longingly while I am studying abroad next semester. read more

Nice choice for a special dinner as the atmosphere gives u a sense of privacy. We were a table of 8 in town for 4 th of July and Hamilton School festivities. The food was tasty, but the menu was quite limited..... How about some trout or other local lake fish? My crab cakes were disappointing... lots of "Fillers" ( celery, onions, etc..) and little taste that resembled crab . As for dessert, several in our party wanted herbal tea and the selection was quite limited . As one local hotel proprietor reminded me, " this is upstate; we don't know anything." There's plenty of parking here. The menu has a great variety. Wait staff was incredibly friendly. I had the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Fresh Green Beans. It was delicious! I didn't need to add salt or pepper to any of it. The onion rings were wonderful! We shared the Flourless Chocolate Cake; it was delicious! read more

Visited the Clubhouse for lunch during a job interview at Colgate--excellent choice, 'Gate! Stately interior with views of the (gorgeous) campus, pristine golf course, and rolling hills of Hamilton NY. Service was bubbly and attentive, and food was great. Had the BLT with sweet potato fries and an arnold palmer (everyone at the table was getting one)--everything was pretty on-point. Almost makes me want to take up golfing! read more

This place is situated nicely, right by the golf course and all. But I think called the cuisine "New American" is quite a stretch. This is much more like traditional Italian-ish focused dishes, heavy on pasta and carbs. The salads are tasty, and I wish there was more emphasis on vegetables and less on starch. I went there for a catered event and the grilled asparagus was delicious - clearly something they should highlight on the menu. Overall, it's a good choice for a change of pace from the Colgate Inn. read more

This place is fantastic. It is locally owned, operated, and staffed; it strives to do things in a simple and hand-made/home-made manner and to do these things WELL and THE RIGHT WAY; the food is fresh and tasty and is cooked with care. Whenever I'm in CNY, I always make it a point to stop in for a Boylan burger. Quite frankly, the other joints in town could learn a lot from the Clubhouse. read more

This is as good as it gets in Hamilton NY. I have been coming here for years, and this place has always exceeded my expectations, which at this point in my life, are quite high. For those of you who aren't familiar with the village of Hamilton, it is located in upstate NY, is home to Colgate University, has lots of small town charm, and has about five total restaurants(not including pizza places). I have eaten at them all, and when I am in the area visiting the in-laws, Seven Oaks is the ONLY ONE I continue to eat at. Its amazing to me that this is the only place in town where I can get a high quality, freshly prepared meal, with awesome service from a staff who truly cares. On my last visit, for an appetizer, I dug into some succulent honey glazed bacon wrapped shrimp. My wife had the chicken and green onion spring rolls with a coconut chili dipping sauce. Delicious! For our main courses, I completely devoured the blackened chicken alfredo, while my wife enjoyed a fresh filet of grilled salmon with a brown sugar glaze. We were so full from dinner, dessert was not an option, but we got some apple pie and cheesecake to take home anyway, as they are all wonderfully prepared by the owner's mother. Props to our efficient and witty server Dan, and to the entire staff for always making us feel so welcome. Hands down, best food in town!! read more
