Another Hidden Gem along Route 20. This is a beautiful Inn with a nice restaurant attached within with lots of bar and other seating, including a downstairs for larger events. Chef Andrew and owner knocked it out of the park tonight. Spouses shrimp special with mushrooms and spinach over pasta. Bread licking good . Lamb chops 3 of them were good. Cooked perfectly Yukon mashed and vegetables also very good. Starter, no pictures, we ate them before pictures were excellent. Shared a wedge salad and small clams casino . We stopped in after not wanting to wait for BBQ. We are foodies from NYC and were so impressed with the quality of service, the historic building and the food. The menu is a mix of a chophouse with a large selection of chef selections from paella, pasta and schnitzel. The chef is a CIA graduate which is surprising to find in Central NY. The food was fresh and i noted that the chef makes his own bread, dressing, aioli's and desserts. It's clear the chef puts care into his work. We ordered - house salad - solid salad with house dressing. nice, nothing crazy - onion soup, this was excellent. really well done, from the croutons, cheese and flavor. wow - calamari - the only thing we didnt love - chicken schnitzle - excellent, authentic - scallops - fresh, perfectly cooked. a bit too sauced, but great - creamy garlic and spinach pasta - our kids didnt love, but decent The desserts were great as well. The restaurant was very accommodating to our casual attire and 3 young kids. Amazingly kind. The entire experience is a bit like going back in time, the historic nature of the setting is hard to explain, but you really feel it. read more

We take a trip out here once a year for our anniversary. The building is rather old and has a nice history, which I won't get into, you'll just have to check it out for yourself. It's located in Bouckville, NY which is also known for having a ton of antique shops so killing an afternoon won't be a problem. But anyway, on to the restaurant... The service is great and always has been. We really enjoy the food and have had something different each time we go. The menu itself isn't very big, I think only 6 or 7 entree's but they're all done well. I highly recommend this place if your in the area. read more

We go here every year in June and August. Forget any negative reviews left by ignorant fools. This restaurant has the best wait staff and service. The warm setting and wonderful charm of this historic building is simply enchanting. The food is divine, never once in all years we've eaten at the Landmark have we ever had a negative experience. The prices are very reasonable when you consider the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chef and their staff in preparing each dish to order. So long as the landmark is open and I am alive, I will always eat their when I'm in town. read more

Menu choices were varied, with fresh swordfish, steak, homemade pasta, roast duck with orange/rum glaze, baked haddock - so good!, a variety of sandwich/burger fare, appetizers, salads, desserts, coffees, specialty cocktails, along with extensive wine and beer lists. The food was fresh and scrumptious with their own flourishes. The atmosphere was low-key, relaxing actually, nothing hurried. Impeccable service. There is a small bar but away from the diners. Intimate & somewhat sophisticated in a historic building. Stayed the night which was quite nice. Definitely going back. It's location is a bit off the beaten track and usually traffic picks up considerably in August when traditionally there is a huge antiquefest for days in Bouckville. The menu and the ambiance is somewhere between casual and Fine Dining. It was (apparently) a very busy night for dining establishments along Route 20 from Cazenovia to Morrisville. After striking out at our first two choices for dinner, I remembered there was a restaurant in Bouckville that I had driven by dozens of times. After a quick phone call to confirm that they were serving dinner, our group of 8 made the drive to the Landmark. Entering the Landmark, I might as well have just tied up my horses outside as I was instantly transported to the 19th century. The walls are like a museum, featuring artwork, documents, and other tidbits related to the history of the hotel and the town. Our server was extremely friendly and took time to talk to us about the restaurant and hotel before announcing the nights specials. We ended up trying the stuffed mushrooms (great) and the artichoke/crab dip (good). Two of us had clam chowder which was some of the best I've had. Entrees were perfectly portioned and left just enough room to order dessert. Between the 8 of us, we tried the NY strip steak, grilled salmon, baked haddock, shrimp linguini, and the chicken schnitzel. They offer a small plate menu and a more expensive entree menu. Burgers are available if you are looking for something a little easier. We tried several desserts, and none of us left disappointed. The Landmark is a throwback to a different time and will charm you with a classy decor, excellent service, and great food. Do not make the mistake I had for so long and drive past it while you are on Route 20. It is more than worth the stop (especially for antique hounds). read more

I am so terribly disappointed I ordered a $25 meal to go when I got back to my booth at the Bouckville antique Show There was no silverware no napkins a little tiny salad with lettuce and one cherry tomato all packed and Styrofoam containers which are terrible for the earth! Everything is closed here I have a hunk of bread with no butter just a dry hunk of bread there is no way for me to get silverware so I will eat this meal with my fingers Unfortunately the food trucks at the Show were closed By the time I made my last sale We have been enjoying delicious food here at the show from The farm to you truck they use completely biodegradable cups straws and containers the food is amazing the salads are sesame seeds pumpkin seeds cranberries cheese lettuce tomatoes onions absolutely beautiful the food is amazing and fresh ! And so much less money than we just paid for this poor excuse of a dinner shame shame on you Ye olde Tavern it's a pretty building but the food and the service and the disregard for our planet with all of the Styrofoam is Unacceptable read more

My wife and I were there for lunch. We both had their Landmark Cheeseburger. A 1/2 pound black angus burger, ciabatta roll. My wife had hers with Jewett's Cheddar and I choose the bleu cheese. Both were cooked to perfection. My wife was able to substitute a salad for fries. I went with the fries. My fries were excellent and my wife's salad looked beautiful and was fantastic. Wine - Pinot Grigio. I don't remember the vintner. I prefer a crisper Pinot. Good Coffee. Dessert - New Orleans Bread Pudding with a Bourbon Sauce? The bread pudding was very dense and heavy. It had been formed in a mold. I am not sure what type of bread was used but it effected helped make the pudding very dense. The sauce not much taste. read more

Drove up at 8:45 PM, looking not for a meal, but a place to stay. It was a June evening, and we had been following US 20 for sometime, and as it was getting darker, we noticed the road side signs for Landmark Tavern. We arrived, inquired about the rooms, there are 5, and were shown 2, which we needed. The rooms were fabulous, decorated in period antiques, and were clean and quite large as well. The room rate also included a continental breakfast in the tavern the following morning. The breakfast was also excellent, with fresh juices, muffins, cereals, and fruits, played out in the tavern below. We were all very pleased with the accommodations, and recommend the Landmark Tavern as an overnight stop on your drive through the area. read more

What a charming place! The staff was so friendly and the food was delicious. We had the chicken schnitzel (our favorite), filet mignon (tender and flavorful), crab cakes (solid with a tasty remoulade), wedge salad (good garlicky blue cheese dressing), and French onion soup (deep flavorful broth). If you happen to be in upstate New York, it's definitely worth a visit. read more

Stayed here December 27, 2015. Very accommodating and honorable innkeepers, a charming spot in spite of minor construction inconveniences. Unobtrusive but helpful help. I felt like royalty, lovely food for dinner and breakfast, lovely room. See photo. read more

A huge disappointment for an Anniversary dinner. We ended up going here with my parents for their Anniversary. My mother and Husband ended up getting the NY Strip steak. The portion of the steak never mind the taste was terrible. Another disappointment was both online and the paper menu that they give you inside the restaurant quote the steak dish at $32 but we were charged $37! Which really was a ridiculous price for that dish. My Father ended up getting the haddock dish. The piece of fish literally looked like a fish stick with 2 tablespoons of rice. I myself got the scallop dish. The taste was ok but the portion size was absolutely embarrassing. For 19 dollars I got literally a tablespoon of pumpkin risotto in a fancy smear on the plate with 4 scallops and 2.5 small Brussel sprouts cut in half. I had to order a side of jasmine rice to make it somewhat close to a meal and that even came out disappointing. It was plain white rice, no flavor. The waitress offered me butter for the rice, is that how "fancy" want to be restaurants flavor their food after it's cooked, butter? The last issue was when my husband got two beers, both beers had mold or something floating in them that when picked out of the bottom of the beer and put on a white napkin, it made a black smear mark. I'm assuming from a dirty tap or tap line that hasn't been cleaned. Bottom line. Not a restaurant worth your time or money. read more

I went there for my birthday ordered a medium filet mignon and they gave me a WELL DONE completely shriveled and dry $40 filet. You'd think it being my birthday would have have at least given me a somewhat decent steak. Never going back again. read more

We stayed at the Landmark Inn for a Civil War Weekend in nearby Peterboro. There aren't a lot of options in this area and we wanted to avoid having to drive 30 miles to find a chain motel in Syracuse or near the Turnpike. The Landmark has pluses and minuses, but overall it was a pleasant experience. We booked a suite, the only room available, at their premium weekend rate, but it was worth it. It's pictured on their website under the "Lodging" tab. It was huge, by most hotel standards, with a large bedroom and smaller sitting room. It was nicely furnished with reproduction antiques and period appropriate décor. The king-size XL bed was very comfortable. There was also a couch in the sitting room that may have been a hide-a-bed. The bathroom was adequate, but nothing deluxe. Don't expect ceramic tile and luxurious appointments. You get a plastic shower enclosure and linoleum on the floor, but it's clean and does the job. There are some downsides to the Landmark. If you're a light sleeper, the traffic on Route 20 may be a problem, especially in the suite. It has five large windows that face the highway. Not a problem for me as I sleep with earplugs and my wife would probably sleep through an earthquake. On the other hand there was no noticeable noise from the restaurant or adjacent rooms. Check in and access to the rooms is a little awkward. There are two sets of stairs, one in the middle of the restaurant, open during restaurant hours, and one at the back of the building with 24 hour access via your guest key. Both stairs are steep and narrow. It's not clear where guests check in. Signs in the parking lot direct you to the back stairway which leads to a locked door at the top. You actually check in at the restaurant. After getting your keys, you'll be shown to your room. I assume you can get help with your luggage, but we had already dragged ours up the back stairs, and I actually preferred that to parading our belongings through the restaurant to the front stairs. There was no refrigerator in our room and there's no ice machine down the hall, but you can get ice at the bar. The restaurant is excellent, but they don't serve breakfast. If you want more than the complimentary Continental breakfast for guests, Suzie's Place is right down the street and is very good. You have to understand that this is a 150 year old Inn, so you'll trade some modern hotel accoutrements for charm, character, personal service, and unpretentious comfort, but you get a unique experience in exchange...a fair trade.
