I came in today to get my portfolio printed and binded, since I was in a bit of a rush, I forgot to tell the employee, named Jocelyn (I'm sorry if I'm misspelling!) to bind my portfolio on the landscape side, which is totally my fault! So when I went back to get my portfolio I was shocked that it was binded the wrong way, which again, was totally my fault. And Jocelyn, sorry again if it's the wrong spelling, fixed it for me at no cost! That was really nice of her and I'm really glad she understood that it was my fault and she printed another one andon binded again for no cost! (Lengthy Review) If I can give Inder and Jocelyn more than 5 stars I would! Their service was outstanding and truly went above and beyond! I needed invitations made ASAP and made the rookie mistake of purchasing 5x7 cards that were cut already. Inder kindly told me that it would jam the machines, so it would be best to buy 8x11 paper. I came back the next day with a pack of 8x11 in hand hoping to get the invitations made that same day. I knew it was a far stretch seeing that they were super busy and closed on weekends, but Jocelyn was able to squeeze us in! Literally took about 30 minutes to make 150 5x7 cards. Unfortunately, when the cards were cut it was a bit bigger than the envelopes, so Inder went above and beyond, offering to stay late at his Alameda location to make sure it was fixed and called us to pick it up after hours. I went in on a Thursday afternoon and they were getting absolutely hammered by other walk-in customers and phone calls. They were extremely accommodating to my needs (a photo booklet that needed to be printed VERY SOON), and I can't say more great things about them. He even met with us on the 4th of July to look at the proofs with us to ensure we could get everything ready in time for our conference. After calling around and getting quotes from a few different print shops around Berkeley, we found Fast Imaging offering us the best price AND the best turn-around time. In fact, no-one else came near the price and turn-around time!! We needed the following printed: 700 60page booklets, 4 large banners, and 600 flyers. After getting the designs to Inder, he sanity checked them with us, made a couple of suggestions for improvement for the banner, and generated just beautiful proofs. Really like his process where he gets his customers to sign off on the proofs as what is agreed upon to be delivered. And, indeed, on very short turn-around, and delivered to us (!) we got all our materials. All in great shape. I went here to get some help in printing the wedding invitations that I designed. They were quite friendly and helpful, although later there were several delays in getting my final prints. And when it turned out that there was miscommunication about printing my invites double sided, the owner was very quick to try and make things right. He turned the issue over to his staff, who I was working with, and she was not good about communicating with me. She didn't tell me that she was going to redo my order correctly, and she kept promising to have the order ready at a certain time, but didn't follow through. In the end I did get my order, and it did look good, but it took about the 3 weeks to get it all done correctly. Speedy they were not. read more

I'm a personal assistant and admittedly, kind of a newb when it comes to the printing world. So, my boss sent me a .pdf of double sided bookmarks she needed printed and cut so we could laminate 'em. Easy, right? Well, except apparently the front and back of the document weren't exactly centered with each other...which wasn't noticed until after cutting. That was an issue on our end, but I had no clue to look for it. And the girl at Fast Imaging cut them totally crooked. Once I got home, I noticed that they were completely unusable. So, I had to go back, if only for the totally crooked cutting. The second time, they were super helpful! He actually straightened out my document so they'd look good, reprinted and did a stellar job cutting, at no charge. Great customer service! Five stars for my second trip there. I really appreciated their going above and beyond to make it right. Lost a star for crooked cutting the first time and for not giving a sample before printing it all. Also, it's a bit expensive. Honestly, Inder is amazing. I needed specially printed name tag inserts in black and white in January for a retreat, and he was so thoughtful at the store and made sure I didn't leave before showing me a sample of the finished product on the correct paper thickness so that the ink wouldn't bleed through (since this was a double sided print). Summary: Quick, efficient, communicative, transparent, friendly, and local. Bigger orders may require upfront payment. Recommended. Disclaimer: I'm a novice when it comes to print shops. My review is based on how effectively the work was done and how satisfied I was with the process. My team required small 2inch x 1inch stickers to place on devices. I called Fast Imaging and talked to a young lady who listened to my situation. I had these stickers printed by someone else and so we already had the design and shape, we just needed someone to print them out. She had informed me to email it them the design and specify how many I needed, what size I wanted it to be, and how soon I needed it by. I stopped by the next morning, met Inder in person and had the job done swiftly. We were very satisfied; my team was happy, so now they wanted waterproof stickers as well. I emailed Inder the next day and let him know I needed 100 of the same stickers, except waterproof. He told me my options (white background, black background), how long it would take, and what it would cost. Now something to note, this job cost more since I needed more stickers and required them to be waterproof. I'm guessing due to the amount of effort and cost this job required, the "pay-first" policy kicked in - no big deal for us since we liked how the first job was handled and felt the price to be reasonable. I then stopped by to pick up the waterproof stickers a few days later and so far, everything is working as intended. The stickers were already cut for me in both instances, they were easy to peel, and were contained in big envelopes. Overall, I had a pleasant experience with FastImaging - doing business with them was quick and easy. There were no complicated systems, no hidden charges, just one human talking to a fellow human. We brought in one 30x40 illustration to be scanned on a Saturday. Inder had a great attitude but said he was swamped. He asked us to leave it with him and come back on Monday for the scan so he could spend time on it and get it right. Sounded great. We returned on Monday and he admitted he had not spent any time on it yet. So he did a very rushed job while we waited. When we got home we found the file was full of very dark streaks that couldn't be removed with curves. So the result was unusable. I'll add a star because he was so personable but he totally let us down. read more

I was really happy with the level of service I received today from Fast Imaging. I went in to the store today as a walk-in with a printing need and no up- front notice. On top of that I was unprepared for the task at hand. I had the document I needed printed stored on a remote cloud resource which added extra steps to the process. Despite all of this the gentleman working in the store today stopped the task he was in the middle of to help me out. He provided a solution for me to access the document for him to be able to print it. On top of that he did this for me on the spot and didn't ask me to come back later (despite him being busy with other tasks at the time) and probably what impressed me the most was he was super nice about everything and very willing to help me out and not make me feel like I was bothering him. You might be thinking well he wanted to make some money and provide good service for repeat business but my total bill was 89 cents and he knew I was from out of town. It wasn't about money. It was good customer service. The kind that is rare to find anywhere around here these days. read more

Inder was helpful in helping me with an unfinished brochure. He did some basic illustration work on it, and he said "don't print all of them, in case you need to change something". That made sense and I trusted the document was saved in his computer since I continued to be a regular customer, bringing other projects to him. My postcards never matched the original color, but I lived with it. He was chronically late on all projects, so he gave me a discount. Upon returning to the brochure to update mistakes (not caught by him) , I was told the file it was worked on had been deleted and all that was left was a PDF copy of the brochure, which could not be opened with anything except photoshop. I paid to have the document updated AGAIN, and was sent again a PDF. I was never able to get a "working" copy even after he suggested I "not print all of them". I paid twice for a brochure that I had to then pay someone else again to basically re-do. He means well to help, but he's understaffed, and completely unprofessional in that he would always either be late or not show up at all when he would make an appointment with me. When bringing tis to both his and his wife's attention, I got defensiveness, not even an apology for the lack of consideration. Won't be using their business again. read more

Twice in a row Fast Imaging saved the day for me. Both times I had rush orders with lots of help needed to get the formatting right. The first time the owner spent over an hour helping me change lots of small details on my brochure, and making lots of test prints until I was satisfied. He also did a great job explaining the differences between the paper options, so there were no unhappy surprises once the job was done, as there were with the other two places I'd been to first. Today his assistant Rose helped me with my marketing postcard. Again I received patient and competent help with formatting, and help choosing the right paper. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Fast Imaging exceeded our expectations in speed, quality and above all, customer service. Six months after our first print job with Inder, I'm still so so thankful we didn't go with Kinkos! Short story: Affordable, commonly a copier but also does side professional print jobs like brochures, cutting and binding, Inder is a rare customer service gem, and indeed fast. I came here for two last minute jobs and was beyond impressed each time. From now on, Fast Imaging is the first place I'll go to for any of my printing needs! Long story: I am a graphic designer on a budget and my then-fiance and I designed our DIY wedding invitations at the last minute. Meaning, we needed to get them printed, scored, stamped and stuffed in two days. I knew I wanted something simple and cost effective so I designed it as basically a high quality photocopy. Black and white on kraft paper stock, nothing fancy. I made it as uncomplicated as possible so that we could walk into Kinkos on a Sunday afternoon and not spend more than 5 hours in that dreaded shop. I planned to bring my own paper and I felt there was a small chance that Kinko's wouldn't be able to work with my cardstock, so I looked around Yelp as a desperate last attempt to find a smaller shop that might be more flexible and found Fast Imaging. I called to see if they were open and alas, they weren't, but Inder still picked up the phone, had us send in the files and said he'd have a proof in an hour. On a Sunday late afternoon. He was there working overtime, happened to pick up my call, and still took my job. We rushed over, he unlocked the door and showed us a proof, let us make a few changes while he ran an errand, and then came back when he said he would. Again, all on his day off. After a few test proofs we gave the OK to run the rest while we waited. He wasn't able to score our invitations because they were too long, but not for lack of trying. He tested it and showed us why it didn't work and gave us suggestions on how to score it ourselves. He cut the invites, and we were out of there in 2 hours. Hours saved on our part, hours into a day off on his part. And, the prices were unbeatable. We had to tip him, it was unbelievable. We went with Fast Imaging, last minute again, to print our wedding programs. Again, very simple, double sided lettersize B&W, but this time, I just emailed him the files and trusted the proof, and get this: he cut it for us and DELIVERED IT TO OUR HOUSE. For those of you who have planned a wedding before, you'll know that you'll accept any kind of help in the last two weeks, and you can't put a price on that little bit of graciousness. If I had the option of giving them 10 stars out of 5, I would do it in a jiffy! I had to make a complicated order of booklets, 30 in color, 20 in black and white. It took me FOREVER to put it together, so I wanted it to look really nice to make it worth the time and effort and mental energy put into it. Thankfully, the first copy center I decided to check out was Fast Imaging! As soon as I entered, Inder and Arslan were quick to help me put my thoughts into existence. They were very patient with me as I scrutinized over each copy for print color, paper quality, etc. and debated the different options they offered. Because of the complexity of my order, they told me that it would take 24 hours for them to complete it. But once they put the project into print, the machines printed out everything within 15 minutes!! (Even they were amazed by their own machines!) I was at first unsure of what quality print would come out if I were to have had it done in a copy place (as opposed to doing it all manually at home), but their printer/copy machine quelled that anxiety! While I was waiting for all the pages to finish printing, both Inder and Arslan gave me some tips as to how to fold booklets nicely without a scoring machine (you should go ask them! :) ) and offered a mini-station for me to start putting everything into booklet form. They were very patient for me, and Arslan soon brought the scoring machine over and started helping me put it together! (he even stapled the booklets, which they would have/should have charged an extra $15!) What I thought would take the entire day to do (print + fold + staple x 50 booklets) in mediocre quality, they kindly helped me do it all in 2.5 hours in beautiful pretty paper! Even though I went over budget (because I chose nicer quality options), it was sosososo worth it! I've never been so thoroughly impressed with service til now. I showed up very early on a Friday morning when they were already extremely busy running all printers and the staff (Zanu and Inder) said no problem! They emailed my posters to their other location and told me to stop back around 6 and everything would be ready. It is so surprising to find a copy / printing shop that leaves you feeling good about your experience. I needed to print a durable banner and a posterboard sign for a market this past weekend. Inder and his team were incredibly helpful! First, I got help and advice with fixing up a file in Illustrator. The printing was done same day, and I wasn't charged an absurd price for a rush order. Don't visit this copy shop! A colleague and I were getting a booklet printed for work. The owner promised to have the job done in 1 week. It will hopefully be done in 2. In the mean-time, we have done the following: - Spent 3 hours in the copy shop identifying pages that *they* messed up so that they could reprint the minimum number of pages, - Collated the reprinted pages by hand, without any help from the copy shop employees, - Been told to stop by the shop in the evening to pick up our prints, only to find out that no one was there, and - Generally had our intelligence questioned multiple times. While I would like to give the employees the benefit of the doubt, almost every time we've been in the shop, some other customer has come in complaining that their job was either incorrect or late. read more

This place is fantastic- I can't really say enough good things about my experience there. Inder could not have been more helpful, accommodating and competent. I needed to make some protest signs and had no clue how to do it. He gladly took the basic image files I had and completely reformatted them in Photoshop for me with lightning speed, all while masterfully helping other customers that walked in. Inder saved my poor procrastinating self, and did it with such efficiency, polite customer service, and excellent communication that I feel the need to post a raving Yelp review even though I need to leave on a flight in a couple of hours. So, it's May right now, and in January I knew that I needed to print a 3 X 4 presentation poster for psychology research. In February, eh, why bother going to the printers, the convention was such a loonnnng time away. Then March passed, then April, and then it's May, and then all of a sudden it's two days before the convention and I still need to print out that damn poster! I scurried on down to Fast Imaging at 2 PM on a Tuesday and Inder assured me that he could have the poster printed out by Wednesday at 5 PM, and gave me a discount on top of it! Then I felt very pleased with myself for all of a couple of hours, until my principal investigator emailed me that there were major mistakes with my poster and that I would have to reprint this. Now, this wouldn't have been a problem except that it was now less than 24 hours until I had to board a plane to Chicago! Stupid stupid procrastinating self! And it was also way past closing time when I realized this... I woke up 8 AM this morning, freaking out, and I called Inder in a panic, telling him that I needed to reprint the poster by that evening. You cannot imagine how amazing and reassuring it is to hear a professional and calming voice on the other side, telling you that everything will be okay and that the new version of the poster would be printed by that night. I felt like all my worries were washed away. (He also mentioned that he had been working since 4 AM...that's dedication!) I emailed him a pdf of my new poster, and he had it done by 5 PM! It's also an extremely beautiful poster, if I do say so myself. This level of customer service, fixing MY mistake, and being polite and efficient about it, is not going to be found at your local Staples or Kinkos. I also did a price comparison with Staples before I went to Fast Imaging and found this to be cheaper;.
