I came here for lunch on Friday and LOVED the brightly lit, spacious dining room that felt like I was dining al fresco. We tried the lasagna, toasted ravioli, and mushroom risotto. Service was wonderful. The lasagna was delicious and I enjoyed the flavorful and fresh sauce. My mushroom risotto (I added chicken) was rich and creamy with flakes of parmesan cheese and i had enough for leftovers the next day. My daughter highly enjoyed the crispy toasted ravioli which came with a big container of marinara sauce for dipping. I think I've found my new go-to Italian restaurant! read more

I just recently moved to Saint Louis and I hate to admit it to my new fellow Missourians, but I am not a fan of the toasted raviolis I have tried. That all changed when I came to Farottos. The toasted raviolis were perfectly filled, had the perfectly toasted crunch and paired so well with their delicious sauce. The service has always been great here, but Nicole was top notch! The salad was delicious. I had to take the leftovers home and there is enough from a small salad for another meal. My spouse ordered a meat lovers pizza. I have never had such thin crust and the toppings were tasty. Again, enough left for a meal. The next time I go, I plan to have something with anchovies, black olives and sliced green Oliver's. I am also going to have tiramisu for dessert. They also have cannoli. The service was friendly and competent but a tad slow. We actually sat in their covered porch and it was a perfect day for it. First the good news! We had a really good waitress and although some of the food was stone cold by the time we ate it ( see below) the chicken spiedini was outstanding! This is the long winded part but I feel people should know how private events work at Farotto's. We had a family gathering in a separate room in the restaurant. It was very difficult to get anyone to actually talk to me on the phone so everything was done by email with "Melanie" Farotto's website gave a minimum of $500 in food and drinks for reserving the room in August , when they emailed the contract it stated $750 minimum. They " honored to $500", said the website wasn't updated. I said I was grateful. The appetizer buffet for 16 would be $400 but with drinks I knew I could hit the $500 minimum. The contract had another surprise, there is a 23% " labor charge" that is not a gratuity. I emailed to ask if I was expected to tip our lone waitress on top of the labor charge. Answer was " up to you but most people give gratuity ". I did speak to Lisa LaRuffa when I gave my credit card info a few days before the event. We agreed the food would come out 30 minutes after the event started. I said some of us would be early but go by the reserved time of 5pm/ food out at 5:30. The minute we arrived they started bringing food out ( 45 minutes early! ) and I told the waitress it was supposed to be later. She said she couldn't do anything about it now. When she looked at the catering order at the end of the event it was written in there but no one communicated it to the waitress. The 6 kids meals were ice cold. Most of the food was barely warm from sitting there but we ate it. They refilled some of the items and it was REALLY good hot! I love Farrotto's food, we used to go there a lot but we moved away. I was hoping my family would get to see why we liked it so much. By the time they added the 23% labor charge, 3% credit card fee , and sales tax I felt it was really overpriced. My $472 initial food bill was over $700 with all the fees. I think with drinks ( which also had a 23% labor charge added! ) it was $1100. Food is ok. Crust is very thin- thinner than Imo's. It's basically see through and wasn't very crispy. House salad is...a salad. It's iceberg and provel. That's it. The flavor of the pizza isn't bad. I probably wouldn't order pizza again and go for something else. read more

Supreme Pizza and House Salad were on point. They have a large outdoor patio deck which looked fun. We sat at the oval shaped bar. Took several minutes to be acknowledged. That weirdness where you're like, "does he even see us?" I'd say service was "passing." Overall food was good. A little pricey for what it is, but good. I'd return and try some pasta next time. This place is unbelievable. We were out for a drive and had to stop in this place. The outdoor patio area is unlike any other, but their history tops the outdoor bar area. We had plans at another place, but we had to stop in and I'm so glad we did. They were known for their toasted ravioli so we gave them a shot. Wow! These might be the best toasted raviolis I've ever had. We need to come back here and have dinner, but we might need to bring a wheel barrel to be wheeled out. read more

Farroto's was such a delightful experience! We have added it to our must-visit list when we are in town. Never thought of provel in cheese sticks, but the STL Sticks are a must-order. Farotto's always delivers a consistently great experience. The toasted ravioli don't miss and are some of the best in the city (and a huge portion!). The salads are delicious. You can't go wrong with their pizzas and we order one every time we visit. They are filled with toppings and just the right amount of sauce and provel cheese. We've occasionally ordered other things on the menu like their pastas which are also great. We come back often because we've never had a bad experience. Great spot to visit with family and friends. They have continued to expand their dining area to accommodate the always busy weekend crowd. Would definitely recommend Farotto's! read more

When I come back to MO, St. Louis-style Italian food will be on my mind until I get that first bite of provel and red sauce. We flew in on Monday--most Italian places we know and like are closed. Suddenly, inspiration struck--Farotto's used to be open on Monday, and it still is. They've expanded the dining area since I last ate here, making for a spacious, airy ambiance with plenty of light. This ain't the Hill. Our friendly server greeted us quickly, was able to name the brewer and style of the rotating local IPA on tap (plus give it a review), fielded menu questions with poise, and never made us feel rushed. We don't often get such quality service in Denver at this price point. We really, really appreciate the complimentary bread--soft, chewy, and it comes with butter, not balsamic or oil. I wish the rest of the country would follow suit or at least offer a choice here. Here's what we had this visit: Baked penne with meatballs brought ridges to a dish usually featuring mostaccioli. No matter. The sauce sticks better, that's all. Topped with an abundance of provel, this dish pushed my buttons just the way I'd hoped. Yum! I was stuffed after one delectable meatball and half the pasta. Leftovers tasted even better. Stuffed mushrooms delivered juicy mouthfuls of cheesy garlic goodness, again, even more tasty when warmed up later. Kids' spaghetti was a hit with the little man, too, even though the noise level was borderline excessive for him. Overall, Farotto's hits the spot with solid food and attentive service. Generic American Italian food. STL Pizza was a disappointment. Super floppy with a weird cheese flavor. Spicy pappardelle was delicious. Not spicy at all. Meatball was soft and flavorful. Farotto's is a STL classic with many folks coming for years. They have some of the best toasted ravioli's in the lou and one of my favorite Parmesan chicken dishes that comes with a very large portion of chicken on top of some lightly oiled noodles. Their house salad is simply dressed and covered with provel cheese-- I like it! My group tends to order a STL-style pizza well done to share (even their small size is quite large!) and it is always a hit. They usually have different pastas and entrees on special as well, and all meals come with a basket of fresh bread to start your meal. They have a pretty expansive menu from large pastas, pizzas, salads, and entrees to classic bar-style sandwiches. The only thing I have had here and not enjoyed was the clam pasta. I always have high expectations for such a simple dish when folks put it on the menu--it wasn't very flavorful here. Service is always excellent and rarely do you need to ask for anything! They are happy to box up your leftovers for you. The space is nice, with a bar side including a warm fireplace, very quaint bathrooms, and then a large covered indoor/outdoor space that is nicer when the weather is warm. Consistently delicious, excellent family-style dining, and friendly service every time. We came in for a quick bite on Friday night - the wait for 2 was ~45min around 6:15pm but after putting our name in we noticed 2 spots at the patio/back bar and snapped those up. We cancelled our place in line and were waited on by the friendly bartender. She got us set up with bread and wine while we waited for our house salads (a must) and then kept us updated that our food was moving a little slower since they bake the pizzas fresh - nevertheless I still felt like they got food out pretty quickly. If you are wanting to pace out your meal, I'd suggest ordering in courses, but if you're in a need for something quick, they definitely do a great job moving things along. This time I went with the pasta con broccoli and added mushrooms (per recommendation of the bartender) while my husband opted for the Vinny's special pizza. Portion sizes are SUPER generous, you definitely get your money's worth. I think I had enough leftovers for 3 meals :) Would say the crust was a little flimsy on the pizza for the generous amount of toppings, and my pasta was slightly under seasoned, but overall we thought our meal was delish and we will continue to keep this in our rotation. read more
