It was 5pm on a slow Monday so we were seated right away. The interior is cozy, quiet, and clean. We started with 3 Mixed Appetizers along with their complimentary warm bread. The 3 dips were all solid but nothing out of the ordinary. Good flavor, smooth & creamy texture, and great for sharing. I love ordering dishes like the Mixed Kebab Platter for Two as we get a taste of everything and it's family-style. The presentation was beautiful, the meats were tender, and I like that they paired it with rice, bulgur, and some salad. All the meats were tender and well-seasoned but could've been hotter in temperature. I particularly enjoyed the chicken & lamb adana kebabs. My other minor complaint was the sides were not enough to share and the ratio compared to the meats was off. We definitely could've used more rice with the meats. The staff were super kind & friendly the entire time. Decent try overall!

We got a table right away. The menu had a variety of dishes like appetizers, soups, gyro, kebabs, pasta, pizzas, seafood, wraps and sandwiches. In drinks section, they had the Turkish coffee and tea. We started with their complementary bread, so fluffy and light, we pretty ate the whole thing before any of our dishes came. I ordered my favorite fried liver cubes from the hot apps section, and it was fantastic. It was full of flavor, perfectly sized cubes and properly fried. Tasted so good with the complimentary bread (we requested a second one). For entree we ordered the Mix Grill and Karisik Izgara as it was a perfectly sharable dish for two and we got to try 5 of their kebabs that are lamb shish, ground lamb, chicken shish, ground chicken and grilled meat patties. Both ground kebabs were excellent, full of flavors. The shish and patties were also good. We got the margarita pizza too, but that one was disappointed, seemed like some sauce was just thrown on top of the cheese and wasn't baked long enough. Our server was really friendly. She always stayed on top of things. Our dishes came out in quick time, it was impressive. Despite the shortcoming of the pizza, which is not usually a Turkish dish, I was thoroughly impressed by the actually Turkish dishes, like liver cubes and kebabs. I'll for sure visit them again whenever I feel like having kebabs next time

Taverna Veranda attracts cool, chill folks who enjoy good music, company, and food. And you can come alone and be treated with dignity by both patrons and staff. It is that kind of environment. No cheap elitism, no wannabes. I came on a Friday night to enjoy their seafood special and the DJ. If you want to carry a conversation, maybe avoid Friday nights. If you wanna dance then Friday night is good. DJ spins a selection of high beat Arabic music that will get you moving for sure. I had the pink snapper, which was huge and is meant to be shared among three people. It comes with two choices of sides and i recommend the spicy broccoli and spicy fries. For mezze you must try the babaganoush. It comes with pomegranate seeds and fresh chopped cherry tomatoes, for a mildly tart and sweet nuance. It comes with pita bread roasted with rosemary. Kefte is another winner; bite size meatballs with tzatsiki sauce. But something you rarely see in ordinary middle Eastern restaurants is the saganaki. You must order it. Especially if you are having a stiff drink...it will help soak up that 40% proof alcohol. The cheese was gooey melty perfection, sizzling hot with lemon wedge on top. You have the sweet tardiness of the lemon combined with the saltiness of the cheese. Speaking of stiff drinks, the señorita is strong and well made. If you had a particularly rough week, you will appreciate the bartender. The glass is large, with about 1.7 Oz of Don Julio 1942 añejo. The view is lovely. I was sitting inside as it was a warm summer night. But as the weather cools and the mosquitos leave, I want to chill on the terrace, at brunch.

The menu is simple, but covers everything we love. Server came by with warm, fresh, fluffy seasoned pita and a dish of seasoned olive oil. Great start. Started with Cheese Borek and Fried Liver cubes -- The Borek was the best we have had and we order that anytime we dine Mediterrean. The 4 Borek were fat, fried to perfection, and their filling of Feta and spinach was hot, melty and super tasty. We love love Fried Liver, and Lulu does it to perfection. The portion was huge, and dressed with red onion and lemon juice, it sang. We decided to split an order of Manti, those delightful tiny lamb dumplings tossed with burnt butter and garlic yogurt -- holy holy. We ran some liver around that sauce, and were glad we saved some of the bread to sop everything up. So good. Ordered the Kunefe, as we always do. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the table -- so if you are thinking about it, order it before they take your dinner plates away. The Kunefe was good. We think they forgot to add to the syrup it comes in -- but maybe that's the way they do it. It won't disappoint, but I missed that rosewater sugar syrup we are used to. Different places, different recipes. In all, Lulu did not disappoint and we look forward to visiting again. Go, go go. And tip your servers well.

But given…read morethat I came here under a different name and for the entirety of my meal I was one of three patrons and it seemed to be in an out-of-the-way strip, I can't say I am entirely surprised. I'm not surprised but I am saddened. The restaurant business is tough, y'all. Support your faves. I knew that I wanted to hop over to Edgewater. I'd heard that the views were nice and late spring was going to be about the best time of year to take them in. I also knew that I didn't want to eat inside and I wanted something ethnic. The jelps led me to Marmaris Cafe and I was happy they did. I was greeted by a very nice women (owner) who led me to a seat I wanted and invited me to explore the menu. Even though the inside was sparse, you could smell the seasoning in the air. That was a good sign. I began my meal with the red lentil soup. Despite being red, the soup color was yellow (thanks to the tumeric and carrot?) and more blended/liquidy than I expected. The flavor, though, was deep, layered and hearty. With my belly primed, I helped myself a hot, heaping bowl of lamb sac tava (and white rice). Oh man. This was incredible. The lamb was nicely seasoned in a rich marinade, ensconced in tomato, pepper and garlic. I mixed the rice in the thick (but bite-sized) pieces of lamb and veggies and let the starch soak up the delicious juices. The food looks straight-forward but I struggled to finish it all. Deceptively filling. Helping with digestion was the piping hot Turkish tea (strong black tea served in beautiful glassware). I left full, happy and very pleased with myself. I am sorry to know that Marmaris/Tosun is no more. I can only hope that was a decision of the owners and not something forced upon them. Eat local. Support small businesses.

Shepherd Salad (APP, 4/5) - Fresh, bright(as in vinegar), and herbaceous, we added feta cheese to it and it was perfect balance to our entree. Kofte Kebab (MAIN, 4/5) - Not too dry with packed flavor of all the herbs & beef, I really enjoyed my dish. Went great with all the other accouterments such as slightly cinged wedge of tomato and onion slices, all frolicking on a bed of warm rice that had a nice bite. Adana Kebap (MAIN, 4/5) - My colleague had this one, and I tried a piece. It was juicy and had no hint of gaminess which is always a plus for lamb. 3. 4.5 stars Zula Grill…read morehad been on my list for a while, and it had apparently been on my brother's as well. So, when he recently suggested driving a good deal out of the way in order to sample their food for a takeout dinner, I still agreed. As he drove, I called to place our order for a large family gathering, and the woman on the phone did not miss a beat. She captured all of our requested items and customizations, ensuring that our meal arrived as expected. I should note that Zula required pre-payment for large orders to make sure that the food was collected. Agreeing to the lengthy excursion was not without its challenges, namely having to drive back with the heavenly food smells tantalizing us throughout the entire journey. When we arrived back at the house, other folks were still chatting, but I tore into the bag and tried to hand out the meals as quickly as I could in order to then indulge myself. My Chicken Breast Platter included the choice of two side dishes, one pita, and a small cup of tahini. In terms of the poultry, the two breasts were on the smaller size, but were lean, thinly-sliced, well-grilled, and flavorful. For the first side dish, I had the Israeli Salad, which was fresh, bright, and, thankfully, not too oniony. Secondly, the Moroccan carrots were a bit oily, but offered a nice heat and spice level. The fluffy pita was soft, gooey, and melt in your mouth tasty. In terms of the tahini, I opted for the standard variety, rather than the tahini amba with pickled mango. The traditional version was rich, thick, and acted as a great topping for the chicken and the pita. Lastly, I shared some of the large quart of Hummus, which was creamy, well-seasoned, and simply delicious. In fact, someone at the table thought it might have even been the best they had ever had, and I agree that it was certainly close! Everyone adored their menu items from Zula Grill, and we all agreed that we would definitely order from there again.
