Meh, maybe we went on an off day, but I don't get the hype. It took a while for our server to get to our table to greet us, but she seemed to be slammed so I don't fault her on this. Two of us ordered the pork nacho specials and the third ordered a burger. Assuming our nachos were made as soon as the order was sent because they hit the table cold. Portions were good and point for the price, but it lacked flavor. Once we got our checked I had to scratch my head as to why we were charged a credit card fee even before she knew we were paying with our cards. I've never seen the processing fee at an establishment this size, let alone applied before you even use your card. If they're credit only, then a fee shouldn't be charged to the patron if that's the only way to pay. It's minimal, so not worth complaining about but something to be aware of.

Food is really good, but pricey. Atmosphere is also nice, and the ice cream attached to it place is great for dessert.

I had The Motherclucker - Springer Mountain Farms Southern Fried Chicken, Spiced Pickles, Hot Sauce, Duke's Mayo, Niedlov's Bun. Hunter recommended adding Pepper Jack cheese and Bacon, as well as the Brussels Sprouts with Maple & Bacon. Everything was wonderful. There were way too many Brussels sprouts. It also would have been nice if they were cut into smaller pieces. They had a special dessert of Blackberry Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. This brought back childhood memories of my grandmother's cobblers. My husband had the Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream.

The welcome we received was warm -- the hostess greeted us with genuine friendliness, setting a comfortable tone for the evening. We opted for the ribeye and lamb chops. Unfortunately, the ribeye lacked savor, needing a more assertive hand with salt. The lamb chops sat on a bed of Swiss chard that, while "somewhat flavorful," leaned more bitter than complementary; the greens masked the meat rather than enhancing it. Our mac 'n' cheese was beautifully creamy, but again under‑seasoned -- smooth texture, but missing that final savor. The redeeming highlight of our evening was the Brussels sprouts and cocktails. The sprouts were wonderfully prepared -- caramelized edges, seasoned yet well balanced (more please?). The drinks displayed both creativity and skill, elevating the experience when some of the food felt like it needed a bit more refinement. Take home message: Number Ten has many of the hallmarks of a great steakhouse -- ambiance, promise in smoke, and standout sides and cocktails. Being from Texas which does beef well, the execution of some of the mains felt off-base. With just a little more attention to seasoning balance, this place could truly live up to its promise.
